Hello everyone! Ok I have a bit of a problem, I LOVE cooking but my parents don't really and we only eat together on holidays and basically everyday everyone grabs what ever they want. So I haven't tried too many recipes, but lately I really wanted to prepare tofu do you guys know if its too expensive, and what I can make with it>?

um... it really depends on your budget
and what you want to make...
but as a rule Tofu my itself isnt all that scrumptious...
Id try incorporating it in whatever you have laying around
perhaps...
use it instead of eggs in omlets and scrambles
cut it into strips (fry)and serve in soups or w/noodle dishes
the possiblilities are endless...
but it's not really something that can hold it's own
thats probably the best solution you'll get from me
for your recipe and budget queries
Im not really a tofu person
blech!
but thanks for asking Ill keep an eye out for
some tofu based dishes
if I find something good Ill post

Actually, while I am not a tofu person either there are certain tofu resteraunts in areas like japan and china, and maybe one or two in the US that entirely make thier own Tofu, and it's said to be a very delicate dish, but in those places it most certainly is supposed to hold it's own. Not very helpful, but an interesting bit of info. I'd like to talk to someone who has eaten at one of these places.

I always wait untill it's on sale for ~1.49/brick.... buy a tonne, then freeze it 3nodding

I like frying it with a bit of soya sauce and mixing with angel hair pasta, stir-fry vegetables, a bit of oyster sauce and a bit of fish sauce.

YUMM.

@.@
All this sounds very good.
You mentioned Flax seed in the last one, I might look up and see if there are any recipes that featurew or showcase flaxseed, because it really is wonderful. My Uncle swore that it saved him from prostate cancer. He was diagnosed, decided against kemo, and ate a bunch of flax. He survived the cancer.
Be back in a sec...

Alright, there are a ton of recipes at http://www.ameriflax.com/ , for anyone who's interested. Their not all vegan recipes, but I'll probably do a vegan one in the next week here, and I'll report on it.
