Jack grinned at the imperious little feien and carefully set his spoon down on the table. "She always so bossy, luv?" he asked. Deliberately, he ignored the immediate face which his own feien made at him for his words.

Jack rolled his eyes. "Bruns, you've gotta big mouth on you," he sighed. Nonetheless, he deliberately tucked his right hand into the pocket of his coat and picked up his mug in his left. Then he looked at Trin, innocence writ large over his face. "Is it okay with you?"
"Of course it is!" Brunswick was practically dancing from one foot to the other, an excitement that he would only let his siblings see (otherwise, it would be deemed uncool) and, apparantly, bonds. "C'mon, Jack. Just keep your hands to yourself, okay?"
Jack sighed internally and stepped back to let Trinityblue pass by. Some day, Bruns might just learn what a double entendre was. Some day.

He had expected stairs. Honestly, he had.
Jack blinked a bit as he stopped just outside the door of the elevator-slash-closet. He hardly heard Brunswick snicker as his hope feien seemingly assessed the situation as well and fluttered over to settle himself on Trin's other shoulder. Instead, he merely smiled and proceeded to drain his mug. "I don't reckon you'd fancy this down your front, pet," he murmured in answer. Then he looked around for somewhere to sit it. Before lowering it to the convenient table, though, he glanced at Trin and raised an eyebrow questioningly. Getting no feminine shriek of outrage, he settled it there and pulled his other hand from his pocket.
Then, gingerly, he edged his way into the confined space with the pretty woman. For a moment, his hand rested on the shoulder that carried Bavaria but then it was gone again, awkwardly placed against the wall behind her in an attempt to avoid over-familiarity. "Tight fit," was all Jack said in response of the situation. Then he grinned.

"Yep," Jack replied lightly. Absently, he flexed the hand that rested against the wall behind Trin's head. "Dark an' tight, pet. But the company's more enjoyable than a coffin, hm? You okay, Bruns?"
"Oh, I'm just peachy." There was a decided snicker in Brunswick's voice. "How're you? Doin' okay there, Jack? Not trying anything funny with Miss Trinityblue, are you?"
"You fishin' for a joke again, lad? Right, then. How many Englishmen does it take to ground a wee little fairy?"

"And you can see my innocence." Jack was indeed in such a position that, despite the small space, not even a nun could have accused him of taking advantage. His grin, on the other hand, would have gotten him the ruler.
Brunswick snorted and remained on Trin's shoulder as if it was his right just as much as his sister's. "Ignore him," he muttered. "He's just doing it for attention."

There was a long moment of silence with neither bond moving. Even Brunswick kept his mouth closed and frowned up at Trin as if waiting. The light in his eyes, though, was defiant. Finally, Jack nodded slightly and reached forward to touch the back of the girl's neck, signalling her to turn around. "He told me," he said gently. "I reckon you didn't 'cause o' some idea 'bout protectin' everyone else? Trin, luv, who's goin' t' protect -you-?"

Jack's face reflected disbelief, a very rare expression indeed. "And that's why that b*****d's out t' kill you?" he asked, not quite believing that industrial espionage could so blithely turn into industrial homocide. "Because you know how t' bloody budget?"
