Just For a Few Days...

Adian stared at the girl that he had been forced to bring home with him. That little a*****e had disapeared on him, leaving him with a grumpy girl and a crow that attacked him! Adian now had this huge scratch down his cheek thanks to that stupid bird. he was really tempted to just fry the stupid bird up but he knew better.

Something about that girl struck Adian as hurt. Or worse, hurting. Adian had a nautral urge to help those wounded souls. Still, this girl wasn't his bussiness. He had to find her family.

"Alright kid," Adian finally said with a huge sigh. "What in God's name am I suppose to do with you?"

Arya glared back at the man. He lived in Durem Apartmets, a building that was caught between crappy and okay. She didn't mind, some how she felt that she been in worst places. So she didn't complain but she was worried. She knew that this man didn't want her, which was fine with her, she didn't want him ethir. But where was she suppose to live?

"I don't know" she replied sullently from the chair that she sat in the living room, it was directly across from Adian. so he could keep a close eye on her proably. Why should he trust her?

Stupid b*****d.

"Well you're a gold mind of information" Adian snaped in reply. He knew she had no reclation of parents, or a family. That this young girl had no idea what her life was like before the train ride. Or she was a really good lier and didn't want him to know. Ethir way it left him in the dark to what to do with her.

He could send her to an orphanage but something seemed so wrong about that. Adian glanced over to the small hallway that had four doors. One was a bathroom, the last one a cloest and the remaining two bedrooms. he kept an extra bed so a buddy could hang out for a night, and for when his sister came over.

He had room...

Woah! One moment there buddy! Adian's common sense spoke up, Look dude you don't know how to handle a kid. You suck with kids. You don't even want kids when you're older! Besides this girl has a stick up her but and a crow in her hands. You have no idea where she's been, who her parents are...

All the more reason to let her in. For a day or two. he'll see what he could do about the laws and crap, but no reason to go dump her off at an orphange. Might as well give her a few good meals and a place to stay.

"Look kid" Adian started, streatching back. "I got an extra bed. Now don't get comfortable, because I'm going to see where is the best place for you, but I don't see why you can't stay for a few days. But there will be some rules. First of all, what I say goes. Second of all that bird will stay outside 24/7 if he attacks me again and last of all you tell me if you need anything. K? I don't child services ridding my a**"

Reiha was beinging to shift uncomfortably at the silence as dread grew worse in her stomache. She was sure she be dumped at some orphange. Reiha was prtty sure that Korbin wouldn't be allowed in an orphange. And then she wouldn't be able to do anything she wanted to do. why would they let her? She be just another kid to them. A stupid number. Reiha wasn't a number!

"I'm not go-" She started suddenly but Adian interupted her. She fell silent as her eyes whiden then she pulled back and pouted, Korbin perched on her shoulder.

"Korbin stays with me!" Reiha said, "He wouldn't of hurt you if you weren't trying to kidnap me"

"I wans't kidnapping you! You know darn well you couldn't stay on that train by yourself." Adian replied anoyed.

"I managed to get her by myself" Reiha said stanidng up, "and I can take care of myself now!"

"Not leagally you can't" Adian snapped, standing up. "Now you can stay with me or you can go to an orphange, your choice kid!"

There was a long tense moment, two pair of eyes glaring at each other. Reiha's hands were fisted but slowly they slowly they lowerd them selves to her side and she took one deep breath.

"Fine, I'll stay" she said, as if it was a great sarifce. Really she was glad she could take it this way. it was easier to take it as a punnishment then as a reward.

"Good, now I'll show you where you and Korbin can sleep Reiha" Adian said, walking over to her but didn't touch her since Korbin was perched protectivly on her shoulder. "You can stay in my sister's room. She wont be here for a while, she only comes now and then. So you'll be fine" Adian said, leading the girl to her room.

It only be for a few days.

A Worry, a Gift and a Thanks

Adian sat down at the desk he kept in his room. He glanced to the door even though he knew that Reiha was safe in her room, she had some book that she was currently devouring. Adian shook his head and logged on to his computer. He opened his joural document and went to the end.

May 3rd, 2006

Well she been here a whole day. This kid i found the other day. I called in sick to work just because I wasn't sure what else to do. It's odd really, having her around. I'm trying to watch my lanague and everything around her. I'm not always good at it. It's not like the kid gives me any greif over it or nothing, but she does something worse. She just gives me this look like...I dunno. As if she expected it to happen. This snotty haunted look like she's use to hearing men curse.

It doesn't make me feel good about her family. She refuses to tell me anything about where she came from. I'm still not sure if she really means she forgot it or if it's a creative lie. But if it is I'm bealiving it. She really doesn't seem to remember. I geuss it doesn't matter in the end.

I made a few calls today but all I basicly found out is I can abandon the girl at some orphange. That didn't seem right to me some how. She jumps every time I enter the room, and I haven't seen her give me a nice look since I found her.

What could make a little girl act that way?

I think I'll see how she settles in. What else can I do? God knows I don't want a kid...but my sister's good with kids. Maybe she'll want to adopt Reiha. Of course she wont be around for a while, I'll shoot her an e-mail. She'll probally get a kick out it. Hopefully she'll know what to do. Lord knows I don't.

I'm probly the only older brother in the world that goes to his younger sister for help regularly. I'm lame at times. I wonder

Adian suddenly stoped typing and turned around. Standing there, silently, was Reiha. The man had no idea how long she had been standing there, watching him type but there was Korbin, perched protectively on her arm. Geez did that bird go to the bathroom with that girl?

"Ah, hey Reiha, what do you want?"

"What are you typing?" the girl demanded so fircely Adian had to blinked. He glanced back to his sceen, as if he was wondering himself then looked back to Reiha and smiled.

"I like to write in a journal, but I always loose those books so I started on my computer. I find it much neater and I enjoy it more. Do you like to write?"

"I like to think" the girl awnsered him. Since that was the closest Adian got to a civlized responce he smiled happily.

"Well this is like writing out your thoughts. Do you want to try it?" Adian asked, rising from the chair and starting a new document. He watched as Reiha walked over carefully and then climbed into the chair still warm from Adian. he pushed her in then sat back on his near by bed, watching her type the same way she watched him type.

She sure was slow at it. She typed the one letter at a time way, which told him she wasn't use to it. Adian clucked his tounge and got up, then ducked down to run a hand under his bed. his finger's brushed with trash, dirty close and something sticky before he found what he was looking for. Pulling i out it was an old unsued journal a girl got him when he happened to be dating her when it was his birthday. It was cool looking but not his style.

"Hey Reiha" Adian spoke up, brushing off he dust and yuk. "Try it in this" The girl looked a tthe book confused but reached for it. She opened it and looked at it's blanked, lined pages. She looked around and picked up a pen before she slowly started to write.

She worte intensivly for a few minutes then suddenly stoped. She jumped off the chair and almost flead the room, pausing to mutter two words, "Thank you"

Rejected Wants

Reiha slowly typed on the computer. She barely wrote three words, and was ready to give up on this whole 'writing-out-your-thoughts' thing when Adian interupted her. She looked over irrated, sure this was just some stupid trick to make her feel stupid or something like that. She knew she was smart. She had to be smart...she was smart right?

Having no real memories made it hard to be confident.

Then her emerald orbs fell on the book he had streatched out to her lazily. She wanted to gasp and run over to clutch it to her heart. She wanted to take it far away so it be hers for ever, but she couldn't. Then Adian would know how to punnish her. Instead she reached for it slowly, as if she was a bit confused, which she was.

Why was he giving her a present?

"Try it in this" Adian urged, Reiha opened it up and flipped, looking over the blank lined paper as if it held all the awnser's to the world.

Maybe it did...she just would write to find out. She had a short despert search for a pen then she put it to paper. I need to date this, she though and carefully wrote down the date.

May 3rd, 2006

She stared at it for a moment, took a deep breath and started to write out all her thoughts.

I'm confused. she wrote first, then stared at the sentense for a moment. Finally she jumped off the chair and started to run to the room Adian said she could use. This was a private thing. Reiha paused once and remembered her manners. She turned and looked back at Adian for a second.

"Thank you" she whispered then raced off.

"What are you doing with that human's Book?" Korbin demanded as Reiha reached her room.

"I'm going to write in it" she said firmly. "I'm going to try. I got so many thoughts Korbin. I can't understand them all. Maybe if I get out all this current crap I'll remember the past"

"The past does not matter Reiha" korbin lectured as he fluttered to her head borad.

"Something big happened in my past Korbin, I have the right to know what it is" Reiha said firmly, ending the matter as she climbed onto the bed and rested the book in her lap. She moved the pen to under her single sentence and wrote.

That's the biggest feeling in my heart, but I have many more. Doubt, fear, paranoia, suspciousions, guilt, anger, worry. I don't know where I am, where I came from or even where I'll be sleeping tomorrow. All I remember, all I can remember is a train ride, stroking Korbin. I was content on the train. Some how I knew that where I got off would be a good place.

It doesn't seem that good anymore. this guy found me, named Adian. I geuss he's okay but I highly doubt he wants a kid hanging around him. He already said I'd just stay for a few days. He'll proabaly shi me off to an orphange. I don't want to go to an orphange. They'll take Korbin from me there.

Do I have to tell you who Korbin is? Who am I writting too? I think just myself and I know who Korbin is. Korbin is my best friend ever. I know he'll stick around. he's the only soild thing I have in my life right now. I don't like everything else being so temporary.

I wish I stayed on the train.

But then I wouldn't of gotten this cool book. Maybe I should talk to Adian. He actually seems to listen when I say things. I know a lot of adults don't. I don't know how I know, but I do. This is all very tiering. It isn't all bad though. Adian had some cool books that I learned alot from. I like learning. And Adian hasn't tried to take Korbin away once. Maybe that might be because Korbin scratched him really bad and Adian knows Korbin will hurt him if he tries it.

I geuss I need to wait and see what happens. But if there is any hint of me going to an orphange I'm going to run away. I don't want to go live in some place where I'll be sold like a slave, or candy. I'm my own person. I should decied where I'll go.

Oh, Korbin's hungry, i geuss I should go. How do you end these things? Maybe with just my name.

Reiha's Protector

Korbin perched on the headborad of the oversized bed. Not that the bed itself was overly large, simply a queen, but it dwarfted the little girl that tossed and turned in the bed. Korbin's golden eyes watched her restless sleep and he worried. He always worried, Korbin rarely had postive emtions, expect around this small child.

Before he met her was a blur of mostly animalistic thoughts, none of which that mattered. His life before this girl was nothing. He knew that. He would have to protect this girl. She was confused, and scared. He was nethir of those things. He was here to help this young one, and he would do the job right.

Korbin opened his wings and gave a few hard flaps to send him air borne before glinding out of Reiha's room and down the hall. Just a few flaps now and then kept Korbin afloat but he let himself land as he neared Adian's room.

With a few sparrow like hopes Korbin could peer intot he rooom, glaring at Adian who was sitting in front of his computer, typing something. The human looked frustrated and then sighed.

"How the hell can I keep a child sis" the human whispered, his eyes reading the screan. "But how can I just send her off to the orphange?" Adian shook his head and turned around.

Korbin ducked back, keeping still as he heard Adian rise from his seat, walk over then finally close his door. The crow let out a anoyed huff as he flapped back up into the air.

So the human questions whether or not Reiha is worth keeping? I hope for his sake he makes the right choice the crow thought wickadly before rested on the headboard once again to brood over the child. Like some twisted protector.

Which he was. Reiha's guild, Reiha's friend, Reiha's protector.

Misunderstood Actions

Reiha ducked into her room quickly, closing the door behind her. Adian was being so anoying. Reiha didn't get why he stopped ignoring her. She liked it when he ignored her. She spent all day in her room with Korbin. Unless she felt like leaving, then she could just go as she pleased though the window. He never noticed. But ever since he got that e-mail back from his sister he has been acting werid.

He kept asking...questions. And not the where-are-you-from questions, the how-are-you and what-are-you-doing questions. Reiha sighed and looked out the open window. Korbin was out hunting for a little while. Well, foraging. Korbin rarely ate meat, bugs and berries was more his type. Reiha deiced to try writing another entry in the journal she was given.

She carefully dug it out from the hiding space that she kept all her special tresures. Right now that was a feather from Korbin and this book. She found a writing implment and climbed up on her bed.

May 9th, 2006

I haven't written in this thing in days. I don't now if I'm suppose too. I don't know a lot of things really. But it's okay. I'm not suppose to know alot of stuff. I'm young...I think. I don't feel young, but I do feel small. Adain is much bigger then me and he knows so little. He seems young though, young in a way I'm not, even though phsically I'm younger.

Adian been acting werid. My first few days here was spent being ignored, and it was great. I could come and go as I pleased, eat what I want and he never bugged me. Now he keeps on wanting me to get out of my room. I don't know why, I feel safe in my room. Why should I have to go spend time with him.

also he stared watching what I eat. He's making me eat 'healthy' like that even matters. And now he's talking about taking me to the park. Why in the world would I want to go to the stupid park...though Korbin would enjoy it. So I bet that be cool. But what am I suppose to do.

Adian keeps on talking about me finding a friend or something. I just think he wants to be alone so he can f*ck. Stupid men. They only think of the same things. I hate men.

Expect maybe Adain

"Reiha," Adain's voice came though the door as he knocked. "Come on, we're going shopping. Do you have a coat? You need to get a coat. Come on Reiha, you spend too much time indoors."

Reiha glared at the door and then turned back to her journal, looking down at the last sentence. She quickly crossed it out.

Expect maybe Adain. Even Adain. He thinks he can control me. He'll see. I'm free now....No man will hold me down! I shall fly as free as the birds!

Reiha closed the book and walked to the door, her face determained. To do what she didn't know, all she knew was that she done something big...Reiha just wish she knew what it was.

Bonding Time

Adian sighed as he waited outside the door. Reiha was always behind some sort of door. It wasn't always physical. He could tell when she just closed down on him. It seemed like it was all the time. She didn't seem to trust him to keep food on the table, much less with her thoughts and feelings. While Adian had never asked to know the female mind before being completely shut out left him feeling like he had failed some how.

So Adian had a new goal, he would break down her barriers. Make this girl trust him. A little bonding time would be good for them. Adian would like it to be just her and him but he doubt he could remove Korbin from her side with a crow bar so he knew that the crow was along for the ride.

Adian hit the door a few more times, "Reiha" he called though the fake wood, "Come on, we're going shopping. Do you have a coat? You need to get a coat. Come on Reiha, you spend too much time indoors" He waited another five minutes before finally Reiha came out of the door, glaring death at him. Adian sighed and shoved his hands into his pockets. "Come on, lets go"

Reiha glared forward as they walked down the street. She didn't want to go shopping. She was having fun writing in her journal, but instead of being allowed to just write, as she wished Adian had to take her along shopping. She glared up at the man again, then forward. She didn't respond when Adian said something, just glared forward.

Korbin was flying, as it was more comfortable for everyone to have the bird in the air, but he hung close. If anyone was paying attention they would see the bird that followed a red haired man and dark girl. But no one paid much attention to those things in Gaia

"Hey, HEY!" Adian's voice spoke sharp enough to finally stop the dark girl. "Let's duck in here" the gangly man suggested.

Reiha just shrugged and with one glance to Korbin, stepped in. She blinked and looked around as her senses were assaulted. It was a huge, colorful store, full of knick knacks and other items, things that people never really needed but seemed to be happy to spend money on. Reiha had to stare, she never seen such delicate pretty things in her life.

"I thought we might find something fun for you to do in here" Adian said, "Maybe something you can do in the living room or kitchen table sometime" he suggested softly. Reiha merely shrugged and moved forward.

Adian watched as Reiha moved into the crowded, looking over everything with a wondering but critical eye. Adian didn't know one could do both. He gave a sigh. She hadn't said a single thing since they left the house. It would have been better to just leave her in her room. Adain sighed and wondered if his plan for bribing her would work at all. She had so little, Adian wasn't a very good father. First trip he'll get her fun things. Next time he'll get clothes and stuff, but this time was for fun purchases. Kids could use all the fun they could get, right?

Adian followed Reiha, from a safe distance and his eyes took in everything she lingered at. She stood and watched a wind chime flutter in the breeze for a long time till a clerk took it down, at Adian's request. He was going to buy it. He grinned happily and noticed some items on sale. Always on a budget he noticed crayons and watercolors. Kids like to paint and color and stuff, Right? Yeah, they did.

"Throw in these things too" Adian said, picking out one box of crayons and a case of water colors. He grinned and couldn't wait to surprise Reiha with this stuff, if this didn't win her favor then he gave up.

Reiha sighed and headed back to Adian, she didn't trust anything that silly, stupid man would get for her. She frowned as she approached him, he held his hand behind him with the biggest grin on his face.

"I got something for you" Adian said and then moved his hand outward and showed the wind chime that had so entranced her just a few moments ago. Her emerald eyes widen and she glanced up at Adian surprised then down at the wind chime.

"How did you know I wanted it?" the stubborn girl asked, reaching out to touch now that she knew no adult could yell at her.

"You just stared at it till I had too,"Adian said with a happy grin, she had spoken to him, that's a good sign.

"But,I didn't ask for it" Reiha said, pulling it up.

"You don't have to ask Reiha. I'm here for you; I'm going to take care of you Reiha. Till you can take care of yourself-"

"I can take care of myself now!" Reiha said quickly.

"Not in the eyes of the law" Adian bent down and put his hand on her shoulder, "Look Reiha, you're a young girl. You aren't even ready for school yet, I want to help you. That's all. Okay?"

Reiha didn't reply.

Reiha watched as Adian carefully nailed the wind chime to hang outside her bed room window. He grined as he finished and gave it a light pat so it would go spinning. He steped back t watch the red chime dance in the sun light

"It sure is pretty Reiha. You have good taste" he complimented and patted her shoulder. She just looked up at him with that quiet wondering look. The same look she had been giving him since he first gave her a gift. She could tell that it was making him a little nervous but she just wasn't sure what to say. She didn't ever remember getting gifts before. Part of her worried he would ask for something in return, later. Still, it wasn't like she could tell him she didn't want the wind chime. She did, she loved the way it looked outside her window. Adian was right about one thing. It did look really pretty.

"So how about I set up the water colors for you?" Adian asked her. "You can do them out in the kitchen so you wont make a mess. I got you a sepcial book too, with stuff to paint. Or you can just draw stuff with your crayons" he offered, trying to keep her out of her room, for a least a little while.

"Water colors is fine" Reiha said after a long moment, looking up at Adian. "I'll be out in a moment" she promised and Adian smiled, then left, feeling as if he was getting somewhere.

Hikari sighed watching Sie simply chatter about to himself as he chased poor frightened pigeons and terrorizing the once peaceful butterflies. A terror though he may be he seemed at pease with himself in the spring light. This was her attempt to drain at least small portions of that boundless energy the small child had possessed. Which reminded her...He'd need a hair cut soon for she was now having to pull the lengthy strands into a ponytail. That is if the Passenger would allow her to.

Sie regarded his mother with a now trademark smirk as he peered out over his shoulder. The small compass about his neck swung about as he spun and raced towards Hikari with renewed energy. Oh what fun it was to spin life into chaos.

He stopped in half pounce, attention caught by a small butterfly speeding passed him. It was almost as if it were taunting him! the competition was on and the passenger bolted off after the insect leaving behind a very bewildered Hikari

"Why are we even going to the stupid park?" Reiha complained, even though Korbin was already flying high in the air. Reiha just had wanted to stay home. She managed to find this really cool book and she wanted to read it. But Adian been acting really werid lately. Like...talking to her, and keeps on asking her if she is 'okay'. What was the big deal? She just wanted to be left alone.

"Because you stay in your room all day. Aren't you sick of those four walls? I can barely stay inside for a few hours. Of course normally I like to go to a bar or something" Adian mentioned, and noticed how Reiha cringed slightly. He noticed that she cringed when ever alcohal was mentioned. Adian wondered abou that.

He looked up and saw a little boy running around, "Look a friend" he said, pushing Reiha forward.

Reiha pulled back when she saw the boy. She didn't want any stupid friends.

Sie stopped in his tracks and glanced over to where blatant complaints could be heard. The first thing he saw was a big black...crow. God how he hated flying things, they just sent shivers down his spine. He shifted bi colored optics over to where a girl was giving him a very disgruntled look. He cringed slightly before masking his discomfort with an all knowing smirk.

He gave a wave which ruined the effect of his 'cool' appearance. But he was young and youth really didn't worry about such things, right?

Hikari could only glance up and shake her head at Sie's very...eccentric actions and only pray to the dieties that this would all grow out with age. Otherwise the household would be quite busy.

Adian waved back to the little boy, and theng rined extra bright as he noticed the boy hd a mother around. He hadn;t been about find a girl since Reiha showed up. He felt werid leaving her home alone at night, and knew he feel even werider brining a girl home.

But some light flirting is always fun. And a mother wouldn't take it seriously, unless there was a father in the pciture but girls tend to mention partners quickly. Always useful, Adian didn't like to be the other man.

"Come on Reiha. I never see you talk to anyone but that crow. And he's just a bird. Why don't you go talk to someone your own age?"

"Because I don't want to talk to someone my own age. I like Korbin" Reiha protested but she was pushed deftly forward by Adian till she was too close to make an easy exit without at least a few words. She didn't say thing. She didn't want a friend, certainly not a boy. Reiha didn't like boys. She wasn't quite sure why but she didn't like men, expect maybe Adian. Not that she liked him, she just didn't dislike him.

Hikari quirked and eyebrow up at the man grinning broadly at her. She gave a small wave upon seeing that he too had a small package with him that Sie had a friendly interest too. She heaved a small sigh as Sie picked up the nearest fallen leaf and held it out as an offering to the girl.

Presents made people happy right? Sie smiled oddly and tipped his head to the side at the new person's shy-ness. He really didn't understand the concept of being shy, or modesty for that matter. Bold and simple.

"Hi!" He chirped extending his gift more than one would find possible to the girl. Not as a bribe, heavens no. But if he were to be a kid meeting another, he would love a leaf to be a first gift. Who wouldn't?

Reiha looked down at the leaf with distain and didn't touch it. She folded her hands to prove that she wasn't taking the leaf. She glanced up at Adian but he wasn't even looking at her at all. That anoyed her greatly. Hmph, she looked aorund, trying to find Korbin but he was off flying.

Reiha sighe,d she knew Korbin needed to fly for a while so she looked back at the boy and muttered, "Hi" Adian wouldn't her alone if she didn't at least say hi.

Adian glanced down at Reiha and knew that she would be okay. He was actually more worried about the boy then her. Reiha could take care of herself, and if she didn't the crow certainly would. Adian reached up to his sill scratched cheek and frowned for a moment. Stupid bird.

Then he glanced over at the mother, and grined again. he moved over with a simple ease and gave his best grin.

"Hey" he said slowly.

Sie looked somewhat crushed letting his hand fall limply, watching as the leaf fluttered down somewhere by Reiha's feet. He smiled slightly at the greeting, his vigor anew. He blasted the other passenger a broad smile and pointed to a nearby tree. "Wanna' climb? I'll help-

Stopping in mid sentence he looked at the opposing girl, the way she held herself somehow told him that she was not one to accept help nor want any. Could she look out for herself?

"I'll race you!" A little competition to prove he didn't belittle her. He hated it when people did that to him.

Hikari shifted her gaze over to the man adressing her. Cocking her head to the side slightly she smiled up with a "Hello". she shifted her bag to provide room for Aiden should he want to sit. Hell, anyone with a kid on gaia should be atleast provided a good portion of bench to rest on.

Reiha glanced over to the tree and her fornw seemed to lighten slightly. She liked climbing trees...at least she thought she did. She couldn't remember the last time she climbed a tree. sometime before the train, Reiha wished she could remember what happened before the train ride.

"Alright" she agreed slowly. A good race seemed like it could be fun. she liked running too, she knew that for sure because she ran a few times. It felt good. "First one to the top of the tree wins" Reiha announced. "Go!" she yelled and took off quickly.

Adian grined and moved to sit next to her. He always enjoyed istting close to a pretty lady. Of course Adian found most women beautiful but he saw no reason not to. He galnced over at Reiha as she ran off and smiled, good the kid was relaxing. It was about time. He never heard her laugh, Adian just realized. It was about time she did.

"So what's the boy's name?" Adian asked, "The girl is Reiha, and I'm Adian" he put out his ahnd to shake. Manners weren't the best but he meant what he said.

Sie was a tad bit baffled by the sudden start, green and blue eyes shifting quickly to the tree in confusion of the sudden mood swing. But she was winning! He forgot about everything else and bolted after the girl.

"Wait up! That's not fair, ya' have to say, one, two, free before running!" He whined before reaching the base of the tree. How could a Girl be so fast?

"Right, His name is Sie, " She explained before grasping the other's hand in a light hand shake, "And I'm Hikari, pleasure to meet you Aidan,"

The guardian glanced over to Sie and the Reiha and noted that atleast Sie was making new friends in his trip to the park instead of terrorizing ducks that would most likely to have bitten off a finger...or three by the irratated looks in their eyes.

"Reiha," She said to herself, "A pretty name, it is."

"I don't have to do anything" Reiha called back, a childish tone in her voice. A new tone to enter the young one's voice. She reached the tree and jumped up, because she was too short to reach the lowest branch. her hands scraped on the tree's branch but her feet touched the earth again.

Determained to not loose Reiha jumped again, this time her hands wraping around the branch tight and she pulled herself up. She was a strong little girl.

Adina held Hikari's hand a bit longer then nessicary, just looking into her eyes. Then he heard Reiha called out and he looked back at her. His smile changed from the charming flirtious grin to a surpised little half smile.

This was a good idea he thought to himself. "That's a cool name" he agreeded. "Yeah, she seems to like it luckily"

"Ah!" Hikari said distracted eyes widening at the girl's strength. Poor Sie, the book worm that he was, for he was doomed to faliure in this game. She gave a light chuckle keeping a watchful eye on both passengers.

"Okay! I'm comming up!" The boy said loudly at the base of the tree, scrambling up before resting on the first branch, out of breath. He slumped down on the rough bark of the tree and let out a relieved sigh.

"You win..."He admitted in a small voice to Reiha.

Adian chuckled as he watched the boy admit defeat to Reiha. "She would be good at this kind of stuff" Adian said asmued, resting his arm on the back of the bench. "And she barely been out of her room before today" Adian thoguht over what he just said and realized how bad that sound. "Hadn't want to come out" he added quickly.

Reiha was at the top, and smiling as she looked up. She took a deep breath and watched as Korbin swooped down to land in a branch that Reiha couldn't safely sit on. Korbin was of course much lighter then the girl.

Reiha smiled, and reached out to stroke Korbin happily. "This was fun" she said looking down at the boy and titling her head to the side. "What's your name?"

"I'm Sie," The boy said proudly pointing to himself with his thumb. Small childish features molded themselves into a very bright grin with a flash of small teeth.

"What's your name?" He added, grin dissapating, making way for a interested look with wide eyes. He kicked his feet lightly in the air, holding his gaze with Reiha until he got an answer.

"Why's that?" She questioned. Although one of her own mishap children had been the same...Still is. Zillia often barracaded her self in her room with a stack of papers and a near new box of crayons. She just hoped Sie wouldn't follow her examples. Not that it was already to late. She rubbed her temples as she spoke.

"Erm, I just hope that Sie doesn't turn into an antisocial book worm as I see him being already. The kid can't read, but he does enjoy the pictures,"

She thought about said boy's book liking.

"Even if they are my chemistry textbooks," She admitted in a small voice.

"I'm Reiha" she said, just as proud of her name as he was of his. She reached out and Korbin hopped into her arms. She pulled him close and stroked the silk soft feathers that she loved to feel.

"This is Korbin" she introduced. 'Korbin is my best friend. Korbin say hi to Sei" Reiha instructed.

"Why?" Korbin muttered to her. "The boy wouldn't understand me if he tried."

"Because it's polite Korbin...I think it's important to be polite..." Reiha glanced downa t Sei then over to Adian, then shrugged. "Just say hi please Korbin"

"Fine, fine" Korbin muttered and shifted in her arms. "Hi Sei" he cawed, raising one wing in dark sort of wave. He didn't look friendly in the least. Nor could the boy understand his bird cries, less somehow the boy could speak with animals.

"Reiha can read. At least I asume she can. She's always pulling out big pictureless books and dragging them to her room. I don't know why she feels such a great need to stay there" Adian admited, frowning a bit, "I was hoping this trip would prove to her there are good things outsie of her room too."

Adian glanced over at him, geez she was already worring about the future. Adian was just wondering when he was suppose to put the kid in school and how the hell was he going to get a baby sitter when he needed to go to work. He only had a certain number of vaction days after all.

Sie gave the bird a wary look and smiled slightly, unknowing if he should jump down the tree or stay put. He cringed slightly at the caw and held up hands over his face. Upon not feeling a sharp beak or razor talons, he relaxed.

"Hi Korbin," He said nervously, not wanting to anger the bird...Things that flew had a habit of frightening him. He flashed a brave smile before crawling below Reiha. He exerted a friendly grin and waved.

"Wanna play another game?" He asked with a light in his eye.

"Really?" Hikari asked, slightly surprised. Reiha look so...young. Too young to be reading. Looking back and forth between the two children before she got up her nerve.

"How old is Reiha?" She asked turning to Aidan, a puzzled look scrawled on her face.

Both Reiha and Korbin noticed the way Sei cringed and went to protect his face. Boththought it was a good thing to know if the boy turned on her. For Korbin it was a natural thought. He trusted no one and nothing, besides Reiha. He carved for nothing and nobody, besides Reiha. He loved none and none loved him, besides Reiha.

For Reiha it also came nautrally, a sad thing for a small girl to always be watching her back. But she didn't think it sad. She thought it normal. She had no reason to asume otherwise. At least not yet.

Reiha watched as Sei climbed down and then she followed. "What kind of game?" she asked, warry again of him. Even though the last game was lots of fun. Korbin stuck close now, resting on Reiha's shoulder, glaring at the boy.

"Ah..." Adian paused for a long time at that question. he bit his lip and realized he looked more like an idiot then even he would be able to handle easily. "Um...s**t okay this will sound crazy" he started, "But Reiha isn't like mine. Well I mean she is mine but I didn't get her the old fashion way" Adian said with a quick sort of grin, "I got this odd ticket, with a date on it. When I went to the address on the ticket I met this werido who aparently liked to walk around in boxers and he lead me on to this train where I found Reiha" Adian said it all rather quickly, trying to explain himself, "So..I don't really know. I asume she's like 4 or 5 or something"

Hikari couldn't help but let out a sharp laugh before burying her head in her hands. She couldn't believe it. Gaia really was rather small in perspective.
"So you've met Pere have you?" She said chuckling slightly, "Sie is the same,"

Sie looked at the seemingly 'glaring' crow and winced in apprehension.

"I 'unno," He said timidly, "What's your favorite game?" The passenger questioned, tilting is head to the side letting his small pony tail fall over his shoulder. Blue and green eyes constantly shifting from Reiha to Korbin in paranoia.

Adian relaxed instently when the woman cracked up, not offended, or worse horifed. Not only would that bruise his delicate ego, but he was worried he get the cops called on him or something. Then that leave Reiha right where he didn't want her. In an orphange. Worse...he be back on one of those small dank cells. Adian repressed a shudder and gave a smal grin.

"Really? You got him off a tain. Well maybe you can explain this odd note I found on a ticket. 'I shall fly as free as the birds' Does that mean anything to you?" Adian asked, it has been bugging him for a while now.

"I normally just stay in my room and read" Reiha said truthfully, stroking Korbin slowly as she thought. Her books weren't good books to make games from so she frowned deeply. "We can race again, that was fun. I liked climbing trees" she admited.

Reiha glanced over to the boy and then to Korbi, deciding to calm the fear. "don't worry, Korbin wont hurt you unless you hurt me. Korbin doesn't like to attack random people."

"Ah yes...The train. Message wise? I haven't the foggiest," Hikari thought back, nibbling on her lower lip recalling Sie's ticket, " Sie had something scrawled on his aswell...'I'll come back to save you,' something or other." Hikari murmured looking upwards.

Sie let out a large breath of relief. He shifted about on his perch on the branch and thought of his books at home that were laying about in his room, crayons and paper with drawings and sketches littering the floor with the occasional leather bound science book. How he loved reading.
"I won't hurt you," He said happily, " You're my friend now...right?" He added in an uneasy tone. Before he recieved an answer his mind was quickly distracted by the thought of another race.

"Hm, Okay! I like racing too," Sie agreed still wary of the bird that perched on Reiha's shoulder. Taking a glance down he pointed out a nearby tree with low hanging and gnarled branches. "Let's race to that one!"

"Hmm," Adian glanced over to Reiha, looking at Korbin. "Maybe it has something to do with their lives before they came here. Your Sei, he seems like the agreeable sort. Did he tell you about his life before he decied to ride on the choochoo?" Adian asked her, grining again. Everything seemed like half a joke to him.

Reiha loved reading too. Her room was neat though, almost scary how neat it was. Reiha loved order though. She kept her room perfectly clean. her books all in one clean stack that she can reach easily from the bed. Her books were odd choices for a 4 or 5 year old. As she prefered none fiction. How to build a table and Astrophysics for Dummies was Reiha's current favorites. Adian has very random books laying around

"Well that's good...wait, friend?" she asked surpised and fell quietfor a moment. Korbin was her only friend...She loved Korbin to bits...But was it really that easy to make a friend? Reiha didn't remember meeting Korbin...but why couldn't they be friends? She liked Sei well enough, he was nice, and he said he wouldn't hurt her. "Yeah, I geuss we can be that" she said softly, smiling to herself. She had another friend.

Reiha glanced up and nodded as she saw the tree. Korbin glanced at it then spread his wings and flew there lazily. Reiha wouldn't run well with him on her shoulder so he might as well wait at the finnish line. "Okay" Reiha agreeded, "First one there wins!" she cried out, she almost started running then but remembered, "1,2,3 GO!" she shouted and dashed off.

Hikari couldn't help but chuckle at Aidain's choice of words.

"No, He just looks at me like I have an alien sprouting out of my eyebrow before returning to those drawings he's so fond of, " Hikari said, pondering a tad on Sie's drawings, " I really don't know why though, their just a bunch of shapes thrown into a circle..." She muttered.

Sie hopped off the branch and chased after Reiha with a broad smile even though he was losing...again. Sprinting as fast as little legs could carry him, he reached the tree, out of breath and very, very tired. He didn't think he could climb the tree again, let alone move.

"You're too fast, Rei," He said unknowing that he had found a nickname for the girl he hardly knew. The question would be though, would Reiha want a nickname?

Alright, she laughed! Adian grined bigger, feeling like he had won at something at least. Even if it was just making a woman laughed. Adian wasn't very handsome, he wasn't very smart, he wasn't very sweet, and he wasn't very strong. The only hook he had for girls was his goofy additude. Maybe they saw him as half a joke but no one got serious about someone whose half a joke to them. And he wasn't looking for serious.

"Huh" Adian said, though, leaning back some and looking at the kids running. "Now this is just odd. Do you know any more of these kids who arive on trains?" Adian asked, very intrested.

Reiha raced forward, her small body moving nimbly and quick. The race was won before it was finnished, still Reiha ran as fast as she could. She enjoyed running, it was so fun to move so fast, as if she was flying. She almost opened up her arms to flap, but that would of been a silly thing to do. She couldn't fly...

Reiha reached up and pulled herself up into the tree just as Sei was ariving. She liked climbing trees, but she didn't climb high because sei aparently was staying on the ground. She looked at him as he used a nickname. She titled her head to the side confused.

"ha" she corrected, "I'm ReiHA"

"Sorry," Sie said once getting back his breath, " I call Cheshire, Chesh, and Mumma, Mum. It's easier. But I'll call you Rei...ha" He said making a small enphasis on the 'ha' bit to keep it engraved in his mind. "Your very good at running," He added to prove his defeat.

Hikari blinked and glanced over at Sie and Reiha racing. Atleast he was making friends. Back to reality she popped out of her daze and turned to Aidan.

"Well, I know of two others...Adding Reiha, that's three. Although I'm sure there are more. Pere gumbles about arrivals when Chao and I are fixing up the place. He's an odd sort though..."

"Cheshire" Reiha said slowly and looked over to see the woman in question and Adian sititng pretty close to each other. She frowned slightly and turned twords Sie. "I geuss you could call me Rei if you want too" she said with a shrug. "I just call Adian, Adian. He isn't my father or nothin'. He doesn't control me" she said firmly, a bit defensive aobut it. "Only I contorl me!"

"Chao?" Adian asked intrested. he remembered hearing a woman's voice when he picked up Reiha but he never got the woman, regetfully. Adian loved to meet woman. Not just for obvious reasons, after all Adian didn't nail every woman he met, he just liked to meet them. Woman were an intrest to Adian, a sexy one.

Adian glanced over and watched as the pair talked. Reiha had that stobourn look on her face and Adian grined, loving the fact that he reconzed these kind of things. He may of not been a parent but he wanted to be a gaurdian, a good one. One that Reiha could trust.

"Alright!" Sie said proudly following Reiha's lead, "Then my mu can't control me! But...What if she's right?" He added as an after thought. He distinctly remembers the time, not so long ago mind you, when he recieved an 'owo'. Hikari told him to sit still and hold his hurt hand under cold water and it felt...Alot better.

Sie swung up into the tree next to Reiha. Not too close, for Korbin still frightened him, but enough to be friendly.

"A friend of mine," Hikari said, distracted by Sie's attempts at climbing the tree, a very amusing display indeed.

"We're rennovating the...Building that Sie and the others arrived by," She explained.

Reiha shrugged, "Adian's rarely right" she said in a dismisive tone. Then remembered the gifts he had gotten her. "He can be nice sometimes though" she admited slowly, then shrugged, "But he should just leave me alone. I know what I want" she said with a definate nod.

Reiha glanced down as Sei tried to climb up. She grined and reached down to help him up so he sat in a nearby brnahc. Korbin was roosted on a higher branch, watching Sei very closely.

"Ah, I remember seeing alot of boxes while I was there" Adian said with a grin. "Is your friend as cute as you?" he asked, doing the first, full fliritng gesture since he arived but he couldn't really help himself. She was so damn cute and it's been a while since he could relax enough to just flirt casually with someone.

Sie grinned at the gesture, gladly taking the helping hand until he was on the tree branch he desired. All of the sudden a thought came to his head.

"Rei, do you like drawing?" sie asked kicking his feet a little, "Or just reading" The passenger added, green and blue eyes turning towards Reiha.


Hikari gave Aidan a rather, well...blank look. Eyebrow quirked wondering if he really did mean what he said, and debating on which list of people in her head he should be listed under: 'The odd' or 'TEH SKETCHY' list. Either one would be a welcome candidate.

"Excuse me?" She said her brow knitting in slight confusion.

Reiha smiled slightly as Sei aceepted her hand. She may not like to get help she love to give it. Made her feel useful. Reiha liked to feel useful. That's what she felt every time she cleaned her room. That and she liked fresh air. Reiha took a deep breath of the fresh air and looked down at the duel eyed boy.

"I dunno, I don't draw much. Adian got me some crayon and I used them now and then, but it isn't as much as reading. i really like reading. It's fun. I like to learn things when I read. Do you like to read?" Reiha asked, kicking her legs in the air.

Adian gave her a mildly embaressed grin. He hated it when he got that confused little look. made him feel like he was trambling on virgin grounds. Adian stayed away from unexperenced girls, they always took things deeper then he wanted. That was cool, they deserved soemone willing to go as deep as them. He wasn't going to give a girl her first boyfriend and then break it off a week or so later. that just be cruel.

"Nothing, just giving you a complments" Adian said lazily. Keep it light, he gave her a charming grin, nice and light.

"I wanna show you something!" Sie said balancing his way over to the trunk of the tree. He glanced around before spotting a small stone that had made it to the crevace of trunk and branch. Most likely placed there by some other child on a bored spring day. He whispered a quiet sorry and draw a tiny circle along with other marks about it into the trunks aged bark.

"It's in my book!" He said happily, moving to the side so Reiha could see.

Hikari chuckled and gave the guy a break that he most likely would not have gotten had it not been so wonderful out today. She flahsed him a grin and waved her hands as if to dismiss the issue.

"It's alright and thank you," She said only slightly flustered.

Reiha watched intrested as Sei marked the time tested tree. When he moved back she couldn't see that well anyway so she carefully moved down so she was the same branch he was. She felt the branch sag slightly but didn't worry about it much as she learned close to Sei's drawing.

"That's intresting," she said and looked over to the boy, close enough to really see his oddly colored eyes. She grined, she liked them, they were odd. "What does it mean?"

Adian grined again, and, being the hormonally driven fool that he was, moved his arm down from the back of the bench to around her shoulders. He didn't pull her closer, or even say anything. Just rested his arm against her shoulder, galncing over to the kids.

"They sure do like to be in trees" Adian mentioned, and remembered when his friends and he would climb trees for hours. Trees gave kids that height that they so despertly wanted in life. Adian wondered how hard it be to climb one again.

Sie smirked at Reiha. Although he was prone to show off now and then, this act was purely for entertainment. He squirmed over to the side of the branch, as if clearing the area for...something.

"Watch!" He chirped before touching forefinger and middlefinger to the scarred area of the tree bark. A small crackling light appeared around his fingers. Bi-colored eyes lost their childish sparkle, replaced by the weary expression of concentration. The Passenger stuck his tongue out of the side of his lips as he focused on the object he was creating.

There was a loud pop and a small wooden figure of a chick fell into Sie's waiting palm. He handed the trinket to Reiha with a proud smile.

"I found it in a book!" He exclamed pointing to where the small marking had once been.

"I wonder what they're doing?" Hikari muttered with a twinge of concerned masked in her voice. The guardian made to stand until she saw all too familar lights. Sie was at it...Again.

The Guardian shot from her seat over to the two children, her expression one of dissapointment.

"Sie Remus Corrigan!"

Reiha titled her head to the side confused as she watched what Sei was doing. Halfway though she looked up as Korbin gave a loud caw, one that was pure noise. She was confused by the way her best friend was freaking out and looking over to Sei.

Reiha might of jumped if tehre was anywhere to go but she was stuck. Her eyes whiden as a chick came out of no where and her mind spun. Magic. Real, honest to goodness magic. Questions swirled in her mind by the millions and she opened her mouth to ask them as her hand slowly grabbed the chick.

It was there, it was real.

"Sie Remus Corrigan!" the woman Adian had be flirting with yelled suddenly, making Reiha shut her mouth and look over in surpise.

"That" she told Sie quickly, "Was neat" she said it in a way that was very serious. Neat was aparently a very high compliment. "Can I have it?"

Adian frowned as he saw the lights and frowned deeper when his casual flirting parnter turned all mom. He let out a very quiet sigh and rose. He heard Korbin caw but since he didn't hear any screaches from the boy he was pretty sure that Reiha was okay? He should proably make sure though.

He glanced at Hikari and then back at the tree. "Hey ah....what's the problem with the light things?" Adian asked.

"He's-he's," Hikari fluttered her hands and groped for the words that would make the most sense to Aiden, "Morphing things again."

Hikari stomped off towards the tree tapping her foot impatiently, hands flitting about her face. What a mischevious son she had come to have.

"I told you not to do such things," The guardian said. She did not want Sie to continue with this disfiguration and recreation things. It frightened her, that maybe the small child would end up hurting himself. What if the giagantic spikes he was so prone to creating from the household pots and pans impaled his hands as he preformed this...thing?

Sie visably winced as he peaked over the side of the tree in fear of his mother's wrath. Reiha's comment pulled him from his state of fear to utter pride. He gave her a happy smirk and nodded sharply to her question of keeping the small wooden chick.

"Yeah," He chirped before another snort from Hikari threw him back into fear yet again, "Eh...that's my Mu." He said pointing down to the fuming figure.

"Sie! What do you have to say for yourself?" Hikari shouted up again at the boy.

"I'm sorry, Mu..." Sie said, hanging his head, belly scratching against the rough bark as he crawled to the edge, "I wanted to show Reiha. She said it was -- nevermind."

The child stopped his sentence after giving his new friend a glance. He didn't know why his mind refused to allow him to tell the other Passenger's opinion. It just seemed that it was a secret or something. He was young, but oddly sentimental.

"He was morphing things!?" Adian repeated with a slight disbeliving tone. he titled his head to the side and turned to look up at the small boy. Morphing...things. What the hell was that? He glanced to Reiha, suddenly worred she start to make bright flashes of light and morph things. Reiha hadn't shown to be anything other then human, well expect for the crow. That was werid but Adian just thought Korbin as a smart pet that Reiha treated like an imaginary friend. Something that she stop talking to soon enough. God he hoped he wouldn't have to take her to a mind docter or something later in life. This whole parenting thing was a rip. He didn't even get to have sex to get a kid.

"Your Mu?" Reiha asked surpised, titling her head to the side and looking down at Hikari. She frowned, noticing she was yelling at her friend. That wasn't good. She looked up at Sei and saw he had winced and was apologizing. For doing something really neat. He changed things, with light and thoughts. That wasn't bad. no one got hurt.

She jumped down and looked up at Hikari defantly. "He didn't hurt anyone!" Reiha said firmly. "Why is it bad?" she demanded, she wanted to know why this strange woman was yelling at her friend. You don't yell at Reiha's friends unless there is a reason. "He made me a present" she added, showing the wooden chick to Hikair but holding it poessivly.

Adian blushed slightly but gave a sort of calming grin to REiha. "Uh Reiha, let Sei's mom take care of this k?" Adian started but blinked when Reiha just send him a dark sort of glare. He took a step forward but suddenly Korbin let out a cry and flew at him.

"Goddamnit!" Adiancried trying to brush the crow from his face "Get this ******** bird off of me!"

"Sie, I just worry," Hikari said, calming and rubbing her temples. She cast a wary glance over at Reiha's gift and gave the other child a small but soft smile. She couldn't keep a temper even if her life depended on it. And at times like this, when two children were rebuking, she could crumble, "Becareful, hun. If you get hurt, Mu will be sad."

Sie nodded before glancing back at Reiha, it felt nice knowing that someone was there to stick up for him. He gave her a broad grin after nodding at his mother.

Bi colored eyes flashed worry as he saw the crow, Corbin fly by. Shock filled his senses as he saw the black bird flapping and attacking Aiden.

"Reiha, Corbin's eating your Mu!" He wailed in worry, "Why is he eating your Mu?"

Hikari glanced back at Aiden, shock also resonating in her features. She scrambled over, not wanting to aggrivate the bird more. Touching or waving her arms would be seen as an offensive gesture. Thusly, she tugged on Aiden's sleeve to pull him away from the frantic Familiar.

Worried? Reiha blinked and frowned, then looked over at Korbin as he attacked Adian. She didn't do anything for a long moment, just watching, as if she was letting Adian get his punnishment.

"That's not my Mu. That's Adian" Reiha explained to Sei. Adian wasn't a Mu, what ever that way. Adian was...this guy. Who forced her to do things like go to the park...and met guys like Sei that were kinda cool. You know, for guys. Reiha looked at Krobin again then said quickly.

"Stop!"

Korbin pulled back, leaving Adian was a scratched and bleeding face but nothing some bandaids and antibiatoics couldn't cure and flaped back to Reiha, he landed on her head and bent down to lick the blood off his feet. He didn't want to stain Reiha's shirt but he looked around at the boy and his 'Mu' suspiously.

"Why did you call me off?" Korbin asked Reiha, slightly anoyed. he wouldn't of hurt the guy...well too bad. Like take out an eye or anything, just teach him why you don't mess with Reiha.

"Because...because he isn't half bad" Reiha explained slowly, and looked down at his chick, "Because...maybe he just worries about me, and maybe...you know, he cares" she said softly, glancing up at her bird, then over at Sei. "Like Sei's Mu does."

Then she spoke louder, so people could hear her again, "Sei, what's a Mu?"

"That ******** bird!" Adian cursed, "I swear someday I'll...
Adian trailed off and tried to whipe off his face that just made everything look a whole lot worse. "If that girl didn't love that waste of air and feathers I'd stuff my pillow with him" Adian growled to Hikari, glaring at the small dark crow. "This is the second damn time he's attacked me. What does he expect me to do when I touch her?"

Hikari barked out a laugh, it all seemed so funny in prospect. She dug into her pocket, pulling out a nice stack of tissues for Adian, handing them over to the scratched man.

"Well, he's just over protective. It's instinct?" She questioned to no one in particular. She thought about how Sie was overly protective of the compass about his neck. Hikari had insisted about buying a new one for him on the case that Sie's wouldn't even point north. But he still cherished it more than the science books with pictures he's been flipping through.

"Watch your language." Hikari added with a small smile.

Sie sat back and thought to himself, relieved that Reiha had saved her mum. Bi colored eyes fluttered open to focus on Reiha and the question she asked.

"A mu is..Mum? And a mum is an older person who knows lots of stuff who takes care of you," Sie said, contorting his face in concentration of his definition,"And they give you food." He added brightly.

The small boy swung his legs over the side and kicked his feet. A feeling of sadness washed over him. Why did Reiha not know what a Mu was? Everyone has a Mu, right? With furrowed brow and confused state, He smirked proudly and shot a finger at the form of Hikari.

"I luv'ma Mu," He said quickly, a blush covering his cheeks, "That's only because She loves me too."

Adian frowned, he did not like getting laughed at unless he did something on purpose to be laughed at for. Still He took the tissues and used them to clean up his face. Jeez he had to do alot of doctering when he got home so his face wouldn't be this huge mass of scars. Adian didn't think of himself as a vain man, or one overly concered with his looks but he didn't want to be covered with scars. That just look stupid.

Though he could turn it into a real cool story, but still he rather have one scar to turn into a real cool story. One scar was dashing, many was...not. It was icky and would turn woman off which was a big no no for him.

He nearly snapped at the one helping him when she told him to watch his language but then jsut took a deep breath, "yeah, sorry, normally I'm better about it" he muttered, "But hell normally I'm not getting attacked but crows" he grumbled underneth his breath.

"I geuss it's instinct. The stupid bird never let's Reiha out of his site and she talks to the thing, like caries on complete conversations with him. Kinda worries me but she seems to be able to kinda control him, sorta"

Reiha frowned at that distription and looked over to Adian then back at Sei. A mu...mum took care of you? Well Adian did that, and did give her food but he didn't seem to know all that much, at least not really. He was always looking confused when she asked him questions and always seemed unsure of himself when ever she did something. Adian didn't know anything at all it seemed.

"Adian doesn't love me" Reiha said after a long time and looked up at Sei, "And I don't love him. I think Korbin is my Mu. Korbin loves me and I love him and Korbin protects me. Adian doesn't. Adian jsut lets me sleep in his house and try to control me. No one can control me" Reiha said defaintly. "I'm free" she told Sei, "No man will hold me down!"

Adian stoped patching up and worring about his face for a second as he over heard Reiha's little speach. He just watched her for a long moemnt and then shook his head. Why did that love part hurt? Reiha was cute and maybe he liked her a bit but he didn't love her. She was just this kid that fell into his lap. Someone he decied to take care of because well he wasn't mean or anything.

"Jesus" he said softly, "What the hell did that girl go though before she got on that train?" She had to go though something, she was so...bitter, so...independent. She's five year old, tops. And she was ready to just live on her own.

Setting Down Rules

Reiha sighed as she looked though her small collection of books. She already read them all, and she was bored. She glanced outside and saw Adian was talking in that werid low voice on the phone. A voice that always made her stomache clench and her disgust rise for some reason she didn't know. He always spoke it around his, it was stupid she thought. She closed her door and glared at her neat stack of read books. She was not just going to stay in her room and do nothing forever. Adian showed her that the outside world wasn't posion, so she was going to use that knowlege

"Hey Korbin" she said to her bird, "Let's go for a walk."

Korbin looked up and fluttered to her arm. He was only so eager to leave the stupid house. Adian wouldn't notice, and if he did who gave a cared? He was just the provider of food and shelter in Korbin's mind. And in Reiha's too. So when they climbed out the window and into the world as nothing more then a little girl and crow nethir looked back to the man that could protect them.

Adian laughed, "Great, then let me just get a sitter for the kid and I'll see you satuday" he said and hung up the phone after a purred good bye. he grined and allowed himself a little victory dance. Finally, he hadn't been able to snag a date since he found that damn kid. Now he had one with a girl he knew liked to have fun but keep it light and easy. And she was easy on the eyes too.

"Better let the brat know" Adian said affectionaly, "Ohhh ReiRei" he called out, knowing the nickname anoyed the girl as he walked to her door. He knocked but recived no reply. "Reirei? Oh come on, it's just a nick name. Look I just wanted to let you know" he started twisting the knob in what he felt was parental right and pushed the door open.

He never completed his sentence.

"Reiha?" he called out, the first tickle of worry in his throat as he looked around, where was she? Where could she be? "Hey if this is some sort of joke or game it isn't very funny!" he said firmly, the worry comming out as anger.

There was no reply.

"Oh God, oh god" the red man sat down. Where could she be? What was he suppose to do? Should he call the police? Friends? Should he go out looking for her? Or should he stay home? How long has she been missing? What if something happened to her? What the hell was he suppose to do? he couldn't just sit here, could he? he should go out. Find her, and make sure she never ran away again.

Reiha clutched her new libray card and her latest reading book, Crow Myths though the Ages, as she walked back to the house. She looked up with a smile at Korbin. That libray was cool. She will have to return there again. After all she had to return this book eventually. She like libraies, they let you read for free, even take the books home. She spent coupple hours there happily. Only Korbin's boredome forced her to choose a book to bring home.

She would of checked out more but she wasn't all that strong, yet, and she wanted to get home quickly. She'll hav eto drag Adian around next time. He could carry more or bring a bag to help her carry more. That be fun. Of course Adian would proably ruin it or rush her or something. She sighed and then shrugged, oh well the important was that she got the books right?

Reiha looked up as she reached the small home adian had. She reached up to open the window and Korbin swept in. Reiha climbed up and into her room and without warning was suddenly grabbed. She felt herself being pressed to a thin chest and she pounded her fists to his chest and kicked her legs.

"Let me go!" she screamed, then heard Adian's voice.

"where in god's name were you!?" he demanded, ignoring the kicks and punches untill finally they slowed down and stoped. He still held her close, only now he could feel the imprint of a book between them. He shifted her in his arms so he could pull it out and look over the cover. He growled when she saw where it was from.

"The libray!? You ran away to the libray!? You got me all worked up and worried just so you could check out a BOOK!? Do you know I almost called the police!" Adian thundered.

Korbin let out a caw and Adin's glare turned to him, "Shut up you stupid bird!" he yelled.

"don't call him that!!" Reiha yelled, starting to kick and hit agian, "Leave Korbin alone, he didn't do anything" Dark memories were comming back. Something before the train, an awful smell, slurred yells, a big fist connecting to a tiny face. Her face. She started to fight back harder, wanting to get out of adian's arms. Wanting to grab Korbin and run. Run far away but Adian wouldn't let go, he just held tighter.

"I'll call the damn bird what ever I want!" Adian yelled at her, making sure to hold her close enough that Korbin wouldn't attack. "Do you know what hell you two put me though!?" he told her, "You just decide you can walk off when ever you want!?" he demanded, "Well you can't young lady! You had me worried sick. You think that just wondering around is fun? fine! You're grounded, and not to your room because you like it here. Korbin is to remain outside, 24/7 and you're not going outside unless I'm with you. You are only allowed to go into your room to sleep and...no reading!" Adian cried out, making up punnishments off the top of his head. He was mad, and scared and wanted her to understand that this wasn't right. But Reiha wasn't reacting, she was just staring at him with those big eyes of hers.

"You're...not going to hit me?" she asked him softly, eventhing seemed to calm down after. She watched as Adian's eyes went wide and she just stared at him. she squirmed tog et down and he let her. She raced to Korbin who jumped on her arm, wanting her to be okay. She stroekd him to asure she was. "he just yelled" she murrmered, "Just yelled"

Adian stared at the girl, and then around the room. He was keeping up the grounding he decied but now that his rage was done he decied he just let the girl have her bird. Something about how tightly she held the bird, murrming those words that made his stomache clench. Did someone hit her? Oh god did she use to be abused? Is this why she was so defensive? Adian sighed and felt he had more questions then when she was gone. He sighed, walked over to her window and locked it. The lock was too high for her to reach and part of him trusted her to just not go out because he said so. He silently walked out of the room and quietly closed the door behind him.

Just a Nice Quiet Talk

Adian et out a sigh as he made hot chocolate. He always tried to have something enticing around for serious topics. And boy todya would be serious.He cooked Reiha's favorite breakfast and put out the hot chocolate, with marshmellows nearby. He thought Reiha would have more fun if she could drop the marshmellowsin herself. He grabed some food for Korbin Reiha insited he buy a little after she arived. He put the food near a window just incase Reiha actually listened to him and kept Korbin outside. When she arived with Korbin in her arms he saw that wasn't the case but he just started to clean the kitchen while Reiha looked at her favorite foods suspiously.

"Hey" he said slowly, pulling out her chair, "We need to talk Reiha, about yesterday" he informed her, "We also need to get something straight about our realtionship. Now please put Korbin outside. I don't feel like getting attacked again"

Reiha glared up at him but since he asked poletly and because she had things to say to him to she went and put Korbin near his food. She leaned close and whispered that if she wanted him attacked she give a signal. After last night Reiha decied she needed to be more careful around him. It's true he didn't hit her but he yelled and wouldn't let go. She was willing to talk. Just this once, they get this all settled out. She walked back and climbed into her chair, looking at the hot chocolate confused but reached over and took a drink. She blinked and set it down. It was good, and she didn't want it to be.

"Okay" Adian started, sitting down himself. He wasn't eating anything but some coffee, He wasn't exactly up for real food and he didn't get good sleep last night. "Reiha, you can't leave like you did yesterday" he told her "I was really worried because dispite what you might think I do care for you and I don't want you to get hurt and you will get hurt out there and not because you can't take care of yourself but because you're small, much smaller then alot of people. I just want you safe. If you want to go to the libray fine, I'll take you but you can not do something and not get punnished. Now I never set down any rules so I understand that you didn't know but you should know better then to go wandering off by yourself so you are grounded, inside the house, with me. You are only going outside if I'm with you and I want Korbin to spend most of the day outside. He can be without you from late evening to late morning. Understand?" he asked.

Reiha glared at him rebelliously. "I am not going to be without Korbin and inside all day" she said girmly, "It's none of your bussiness where I go or what I do. You're not my father, you're not my Mu and you don't love me! You have no claim over me or my life!"

Adian's coffee cup thuded as it hit the table. "Don't talk to me like that young lady!" he snapped, where the hell did his father's voice come from? Surely not his mouth. "Listen here!"he growled,standing up and looking at her, "I'm the adult in this stupid house, I pay the bills, I buy the food and I take care of you. I brought you here because I felt I had to but I let you stay because I do give a damn and I do have a claim of you and your life so get over it. You're here to stay!" Adian thundered, "And I'm tired of your additude to me. You don't have to like me but you sure as hell have to listen and not because I'll hit you ethir you little brat but because I care about your well being now get over it!"

"I don't have to stay here!" Reiha yelled back, hands fisting, "I can leave anytime I like"

"Yeah and you can spent the next 12 years being tossed from one home from the next!" Adian shouted. "and they'll take away Korbin and you'll never see him again. Or you can listen to me and try to compermise for a moment! I'm not trying to hold you back and I'm not trying to control you I just want the both of us be happy"

"Why do you care if I'm happy?" Reiha demanded, "All I do is scary you and ruin your dating life. Why should you give a damn about me?"

"Because you're special, because you're hurt, because you deserve it" Adian replied "Now we can both be happy or we can just yell at each other for the next 12 years. Your choice, compermise or fight, what do you want Reiha?"

Reiha glared at him, mind full of dark thoughts but her hurting heart yearned. She sat in the chair and let out a huff. "Compermise" she muttered and emerald eyes watched the gangly man visably relax. She listened, quietly as he explained the rules he wanted in place, and the punnishments she would recive if she didn't listen to the rules.

They weren't that bad.
