He nodded, still serious, then immediately dropped it ... whether fake or no, he was back to the way he usually acted. He grinned and sat down beside her, just staring off into the distance for a moment.
Then he got up and ran around the tree once, only to return to his previous position. Nothing he did made much sense to anyone watching, but maybe it did to him. Somehow.

Echo wuffed, not understanding this male's strange ways, but then again not really caring. What did it matter, so long as he didn't get her into trouble? So by the time he was back again, she was on her side, eyes closed. She wasn't really sleeping, rather she was trying to get away from the world.

He blinked at her, head tilting one way, then the other. "Sleeping?" he mumbled quietly, almost as if to himself. "Or hiding, maybe ... hiding away where no one can see, no one can say. Hmmm ...."

Echo grumbled and mumbled, as if trying to speak but being unable to. But of course she was only pretending. She thought that maybe if everyone thought she was asleep or dead that they would simply leave her alone.

Well ... that may work with others, but not with this wolf. Curious as a cat, he was, at times. He eyed the other wolf, then paced over and poked at one ear with his cold nose.

Echo wasn't watching him, nor was she was expecting him to do that so randomly, so the touch gave her a fright, causing her to shoot open her eyes and jump immediately to her paws. Her fur bristled, and for a moment she looked like her spirit had fled her body with the scare. But a moment later she sighed, hanging her head in what might have been shame. What was wrong with her?
Huffing slightly, she flopped back onto the ground, her back facing him.

He jumped back as well, but almost playfully, then tilted his head as if he didn't understand when she turned away from him. "Hmmm ... " he hummed for a moment, then turned and trotted off.
((XDD He'll be back, just wanna see what sort of reaction that gets from her wink ))

Raz's sudden 'departure' drew no reaction from the female. She was still laying on her side, her back to him. Her eyes were too clouded over to notice anything other than her grief.

He came trotting back a little while later, carrying something in his mouth. Once he got closer, it proved to be a rabbit. A quite bloody, dead, rabbit. He paused every few steps to play with the thing, almost like a cat. He would toss it into the air and then try to catch it ... sometimes he did, and sometimes he missed.
Finally, he did make it back to Echo, and promptly dropped said rabbit in front of her nose without a word.

Once the rabbit was dropped in front of her nose, the female leapt to her feet. The hare hitting the ground had disturbed some dirt, which had then bothered her nose. She shook her head and sneezed. Then she blinked and looked at him, then at the rabbit, then back at him in silent question.

"Hungry, yes?" he questioned, just looking back at her. It was true that he couldn't really bring down larger game by himself, but he'd caught his own rabbit while he was gone. That one was for Echo, if she wanted it.

Echo was about to reply, but it seemed that her stomach wanted to get something in before she could screw things up. It rumbled deeply, and she found her ears falling back in embarassment. Then she nodded. "Yes, hungry." Afterwards she took the rabbit, tearing directly into its middle.

As much as was possible, he seemed to almost grin at her and backed off a few steps to let her eat. He sat down for a moment, then promptly flopped over and rolled in the dirt a few times.
When he was finished with that, he shook his fur out, fine dust flying about him, then sat down again as if he had done nothing at all.

Once the female had finished, she licked clean what blood she could get off her muzzle then promptly looked at him. At first she had ignored everything else but her hunger due to her every-annoying stomach. But now that the edge of her hunger was taken off, she could focus on other things.
Her eyes danced and her tail flicked slightly, as if saying: 'Good, thank you. But why?'

As if he could actually understand her, he rolled one shoulder back in a kind of shrug and echoed his own words from before. "Hungry, yes?" But his own expression hinted at something more, even if the words themselves and his tone of voice didn't.
He had apparently decided that he liked her.
