Nice. I haven't been baptized, I don't think you need to be to be a Christian, but I would like to all the same. 'I baptize you with water, but after me shall come one who will baptize with the Spirit and fire.' I think that's the KJV translation... I'll look it up.

You know, baptisim varies from church to church. May get flammed outta here for sayin this but, I myself am Mormon and I know that baptisim is a requirment for salvation, thats why Jesus needed to be baptised. When we are baptised, we are following in his footsteps and also showing that we are willing to accept the consequences of our actions. In my church we are baptised when we are 8. There's alittle insight into a little heard of christian church. One more thing,

Little heard of? I thought everyone had at least heard of Mormons. Anyways.... Yeah! Jesus was baptized, and what was good enough for Him is good enough for me! ^^ We usually baptize at age 12 in out Church, but I didn't get baptized until I was 19. ^^; A friend found out, asked when I joined the church, I told her when I was born, then she said it was good for me to stick to my covictions and not get baptized until I was ready! =D That made me feel so good. ^^
I hope the Church family you were baptized into is as wonderful as mine. heart

I was baptized very recently. I'm afraid of going underwater so it was pretty scary. As soon as I did it though I felt amazing!

congrats! i was baptized my sophmore year in high school (16, 20 now) it was a cleansing experience for me too. xd

Cesariana / everyone: You don't have to get baptised with water to have Jesus in your heart. You have to be baptised by the Holly Spirit. Any other baptism is just a sign for others to know that you love God.

Exactly, you have to be filled with the (Not sure about the rules here, Because the mispelling of Holy makes me question if we can even say it.. Oh well.)Holy Spirit, then you get baptised.

Baptism is a sign of the old you being gone, and the spirit-filled you being here instead.

My Dad(A Spirit-filled Christian) said this at the Baptism I was in: Out with the old*Droped underwater, then risen* and in with the new.EDIT: Here's something else: You sometimes get baptised as a baby, but when you later get baptised of your own free will, it means you've willingly accepted Christ, not forced into anything, and accepted the Holy Spirit of your own free will. Edit#2: Just thought I would let you know, but otherwise..

I agree that baptism is a sign to show people here on earth that you have already had your sins washed away by the Holy Spirit. It isn't a part of salvation, but the bible does say that it is one of the first things you can do to honor God after being saved.
