Nima's Log
Well as if the house wasn't crowded enough, I seem to have...acquired...another child. She just...appeared one morning. In my bedroom no less. Still not entirely sure how she got there as I had the wards up and I know they were working. At first I thought she was a doll, what with that blue skin. Then she started wailing for attention and I'm pretty sure even the most lifelike dolls don't need their diapers changed. In any case, since she appeared in my room, I've decided to raise her as best I can. I've named her Kedana.
Airden wasn't happy about her showing up and me deciding to keep her. Then I reminded him that this was my house and he was free to leave at any time. I love being able to shut up big brothers. The girls are rather happy since now they've got a cute baby to fuss over. I know the baby likes all the attention, just hope it doesn't go to her head. The boys...well they're acting pretty indifferent. I think they're trying to act all grown up and manly. Though I did see Darek cuddling Kedana and cooing at her when he thought no one was looking. Mehiyal seemed definatly uneasy, but I managed to assure him that Kedana's a girl.
I am concerned though. I have no idea where Kedana came from, if she has any family that will come for her, or even what she is. Given the nature of Gaia and all the other children I've adopted, I'd say she was meant for me, but I'm not sure. Arilin says not to worry so much. At least we've got plenty of room in the house for another little one now...

Nima jumped up in bed, feeling panic through the Fandangle Bond a second before a loud screech was heard from Kedana's room. She skidded into the nursery, her wand and staff ready. Seconds later they clattered uselessly to the floor.
"Ari..." Nima said, giggling behind her hand, "What in the world happened?" She walked up to the crib, grinning.
"I'll tell you what happened!" The Widget wiggled futilely in the Kedana's hands. "She attacked me! It's slimy and wet and pointy and geteroffame!" He tried again to get himself out of Keda's deathgrip and gnawing.
Nima grinned and tickled Keda's tummy. The blue girl gurgled happily, but didn't let go. She did smile broadly enough that Nima could see the tiny teeth coming in though. "Awww, poor baby's just teething."
"I don't care! I'm a Familliar! I'll be a babysitter, but I'm not a teddy bear, bottle, pacifer, or teething ring. Now geteroff!"
"Okay, okay. Just don't yell too loud or you'll make her cry." She grabbed onto Arilin's edge and tugged enough to free him. Kedana whimpered and clenched her hands after him. After a second, her face screwed up into a frown, her big silver eyes welling with tears. When Ari floated away, she started bawling. Nima gathered her up and rocked her gently.
"Poor thing's probably in pain," she murmured, sketching out a small sigil with her free hand. Ari just humphed, not feeling entirely charitable to someone that had been gnawing on him. Nima managed to set her fingers on Kedana's mouth and the spell sank in. Keda slowly stopped crying as she was rocked, finally falling asleep altogether.
"What'd you do? Put her to sleep?"
"Nope," Nima whispered as she tucked her in. "Just put a small painblock on her teeth. I figured it was keeping her awake. Dunno how long it'll last though," she said, thinking out loud. She sighed. "I should go pick up some teething rings before she wakes up. And run some other errands while I'm at it. Do you mind watching her while I'm gone?" She could almost feel Ari glaring at her. "She'll be asleep the whole time, she's not going to attack you again."
"Fine..." he grumbled. She gave him a quick hug before hurrying out.
An hour later, Keda started whimpering again. Ari tried to ignore it, but there was no avoiding it. And nothing else in the room would work to help her. Grumbling, he floated next to her. She grabbed onto him and started gnawing. "Oi, the things I do for love. You owe me later girly." Keda gurgled, which Ari took for agreement. He sighed and waited for Nima to come home and rescue him again.

Mehiyal sat curled up in one of the third floor guest rooms. Right now, these empty bedrooms were the quietest places in the house. He could hide away in here with Illus and a stack of Spiderman comics he'd borrowed from Tentei for hours without anyone noticing he was gone.
Well, except for one person...
"Mehi?" came the high pitched voice from the hall. "Mehiiiiiiiii!" He winced as doors were slammed open and shut throughout the floor, that awful nickname being called with each slam. All too soon, the door to this room burst open, the tiny person on the other side squealing with delight. "MEHI! There you are!"
He winced again and tried to hide behind the comic. It didn't work. Seconds later Kedana was bouncing on the chair's wide arm, grinning like the idiot Mehiyal felt she was. "Whatcha doin' hiding in here Mehi?"
He glared at her. "My name is not 'Mehi,'" he said softly before turning back to his comic. Maybe if he just ignored her, she'd go away. It worked with Querna after all.
Either Que was smarter or Keda just had more patience. Either way, the angel didn't leave. Instead, she started jabbing him the shoulder. "Mehi. Mehi! Pay 'tention to me!" Each word was accompanied by another jab in the shoulder.
"I liked you better as a baby," he muttered so softly only Illus could hear him. Just keep ignoring her and she'd go away, right? That's what Mother had said about the older boys when they picked on him. But she didn't stop and his patience finally snapped. "What do you want?!" He thought he yelled, but it came out at barely conversation-level.
She grinned and held up a Dr. Seuss book. "Read me story?"
Mehiyal glared at the evil book. Dr. Seuss was for babies. "No. Go away." He snapped the comic book back up, hoping again that she'd take a hint. After a minute, he heard a delicate sniffle. And another...he could almost hear the lip quivering. He looked up over the pages to see Kedana's silvery eyes filled with tears. Any minute now she'd start bawling and that'd bring the whole house down on them.
"...fine...I'll read to you..."
"Yay!" The tears instantly vanished as she held out Green Eggs and Ham to him.
"No Dr. Seuss..." he said firmly.
"B-b-but-" Keda's lower lip started quivering again and the tears came back.
"No...you want a story or not? She nodded slowly. "Then no Dr. Seuss..." he said, picking up the comic books and going to his room to grab another book. He came back with a large picture book of Sword in the Stone. "We're reading a good book... he said, settling back into the armchair.
"Kay!" She curled up in the chair next to him, much to Illus' dislike.
Mehiyal sighed and turned to the first page. "Once upon a time..." he started softly, only to be jabbed in the ribs.
"Louder!" she demanded, glaring up at him.
He grumbled and started again louder. "Once upon a time..." This was going to be a long afternoon.
