While Tambuzi shook his head and mane furiously, Mlinda made her move, and sprang forward at the male, tackling him down. She made sure they tumbled into the water, before she grabbed his tail with her teeth, and began tugging him further into the water. The lioness growled, not with anger, but of playfulness.

She wondered a bit why he didn't do anything to her. Perhaps he was trying to act like a gentleman and play nice? Feh. If he wanted to drown because of a lioness, so be it! She tugged him even harder, before ducking down underwater as a wave came rolling over them.

Tambuzi was just wiping the last few grits of sand from his eyes and nose using those oversized paws of his when he felt a terrible thud which winded him. Then the shock of chilly water.

He blinked and felt disorientated for a while, until he realised what the crazy lioness had done. Oh yeah! She isn't going to get one up on the wave master! He waited for the right moment. As the wave rolled over them, he spun in the water and nudged himself into Mlinda, boshing his paw into her mouth in an attempt to free his tail.

Mlinda poked her head from the water, laughing with the tail in her mouth, until she suddenly felt her laugh muffled by a large paw.

"ACKPTB!" The lioness quickly dropped his tail, and spat out Tambuzi's paw, which had sand aaaall over it. She sputtered and gagged, before ducking underwater to try and get the sand out. Thankfully it drifted out, but now her mouth tasted outrageously salty and dry.

That's it. No more playing nice! she thought, and ducked underwater once more, before swooping between Tambuzi's legs. It took all of her strength, but she managed to just -barely- move him deeper into the water. But how long could she keep this up?

Freedom! Tambuzi felt the pressure ease from his tail, meaning he had successfully dislodged it from Mlinda's mouth. He came up for some air, shaking his head to clear his ears a little. He spied the white lioness, quite obvious in the water, glide by him, and then underneath him?

The lightweight male bobbed in the water and then submerged, feeling himself shifted by Mlinda. He rolled around in the water, obviously unphased by the femme's attempts to either drown him or scare him. He paddled up towards the surface once more for air, and took a moment to assess how far out from the shore he was. Oooh, don't wanna be going any further...

Once the lioness couldn't step any further, she decided now was a good time to flip him over and send him out to sea. But wait. Her legs couldn't move. oxo; Fatigue from carrying Tambuzi on her back and padding underwater, all while holding her breath, wore her out.

Everything became blurry, and finally, the lioness couldn't take it anymore. Her breath escaped her, and she collapsed on the sandy bottom, before slowly drifting from underneath the male up to the surface of the water.

Tambuzi felt the support drop as she floated from beneath him and upto the surface. She didn't look very energetic at this point, but Tambuzi just didn't know what to expect from this lioness.

"Hah! Told ya I was a better swimmer," he proclaimed in victory, plafyully nudging Mlinda.

When she didn't react, Tambuzi's smile dropped.

"Mlinda?" he peered closer, continuing to nudge her. Then she started to sink a little. "Mlinda!"

The small lion worked fast, ducking under the water and beneath the white beauty. As he emerged again, she was now straddled across his back, limbs limp in the water as Tambuzi began to swim for shore. He kept his head high, trying to keep hers higher.

By the time he'd reached the shore, battled a few waves, he almost toppled onto the sand. His back legs gave way, and Mlinda slid from his back onto the wet sand. He couldn't tell if she was still breathing or not, but he started to gently rub her back with his muzzle, trying to encourage any kind of breath.

The limp form of the lioness slid off Tambuzi's back, and after a few minutes, she groaned softly, before sighing with relief as she felt the warm sand. So the ocean hadn't taken her...

Waitaminit.

Before Mlinda could open her eyes to glare at her savior, she felt a sudden knot in her throat, before coughing up a few cups of water. Was that a fish she spied spewing from her own mouth? Wait, nevermind that! Setting her head back down, she thought to herself. However, these thoughts were interrupted by the feeling of Tambuzi's muzzle nuzzling her back.

At once, the lioness leapt up--before tumbling over. Her legs felt like jellyfish, wiggling and with no support. Mlinda's face was a soft gray-pink color from embarassment. "Th-that's not necessary!" she said, trying to stand up once more.

The dolphin-blessed lion heard Mlinda cough and splutter and a huge weight was lifted from his insides. He stood back a few steps to give her room as she leapt up, but she wasn't all that steady on her feet. Although it was a funny sight to her tumble over on her wobbly legs, Tambuzi didn't laugh.

"You know, you nearly drowned. A thank you would be nice," he said to her, his voice dripping with male ego. But that wasn't the only thing dripping.

He was soaked to the bone, and his mane hung limp from his body, as if he'd swam through a patch of seaweed and it had decided to attach itself to him.

"Wh-what? O-oh yes, thank you!" she said, her voice still a bit shaky. She hadn't known he had tried to get her breathing by nuzzling her back; She mistook it as some form of affection.

Mlinda ya'uziwa sat up and turned to face the ocean and have her back to Tambuzi. He was certainly a friendly lion, and she now knew very well he could swim! She shook her head a bit to rid it of water, before lying down and thinking hard. Why was he so affectionate one minute and so rude the next? Well, she didn't really think of thanking him earlier, did she?

By now, his wet mane had seemed to take on a life of its own and had creeped down his head to cover his eyes. But that didn't matter. He didn't need to see her face as she apologised, it was a victory just to hear the words. I swear females these days...just don't get chivalry do they?

"So, this the first time its happened?" he asked with a boyish curiosity, as if they were about to swap war stories. Tambuzi had learned the hard way to swim, and had many bad experiences to his name. Of course, he still couldn't see her, so he wasn't aware she had moved away from him and he was talking to thin air.

He gave himself a vigorous shake, leaving his mane in such a scraggly mess that even now, he could barely see Mlinda. He cocked his head at her, wondering why she seemed so quiet and distant, when all but moments ago, she was so outgoing and ready to rip him to shreds.

She looked over to say something to him, but seeing his wet mane, she couldn't keep a straight face. Her open mouth curved into an open smile, before she closed it tightly.

However, seeing his mane stick in the most bizarre spots made her titter.. then giggle.. then laugh.. and finally, she couldn't help but burst out laughing. She rolled over onto her back, choking out laughs and flopping her paws on her chest. She closed her eyes tightly, tears forming and streaming down her furry cheeks. Y-y-y-you f-f-fur.. it's.. it's..." She tried to sit up, and seeing his mane, fell over, laughing even harder.

Tambuzi was now thrown into even more confusion about this lioness. Did she have giggle turrets or something? And what was this about his fur?

The scraggly pieces of his mane still obscured his vision, so he reached a paw up to sweep some aside. The first thing to hit his retinas was the sight of Mlinda rolling around in the sand like a pig in swill, unable to breathe with laughter. What the...? He wrinkled his nose a little, and padded over to the nearest little pool of water to check his reflection.

"Oh, I see," he muttered to himself, treating his mane's mess so casually. He dipped his large paws into the water and almost combed his mane into shape.

Of course, what he ahd failed to notice was the starfish he had sat on, and was now clinging to his backside.

The lioness finally stopped howling with laughter, and stood up, using one paw to stifle her giggles. She hadn't laughed like that in years!

Mlinda trotted over to apologize to Tambuzi, when she noticed the large, red starfish clinging to his behind. At once, she gave a breathy laugh, and couldn't help but start laughing again. "Myy siiiides..." she choked out, falling over and wrapping her paws around herself.

After a few minutes of this, she sat up, giggling and whatnot. But then she noticed something. Waitaminit. Red. Starfish. Weren't those poisonous?!
(Go along with it! XD)

"A-ah, Tambuzi, d-don't you think y-you should stand s-still?" she said an incredibly nervous voice. The lioness trotted over to his backside, and gently tried to tug the starfish off, her paws brushing against Tambuzi. Talk about awkward..

The grey-streaked lion looked over his shoulder at Mlinda, wondering what she could possibly be laughing at now.

"Hey, I fixed my mane! Whats wrong now!?" he pouted.

But then Mlinda's face chifted from chronic giggles, to deathly serious. What was wrong? Had she seen something? A rogue lion? An elephant? He looked around a bit, like a nervous monkey. Then he flinched and blushed bright red as Mlinda started to feel him up.

Ooooh! You've scored! My charm is irresistible!

(Perverted lion. xD; He'll be a GREAT dad! And an even greater flirt.. >D)

Mlinda coughed a bit, and tried to make it seem casual. "T-t-there's s-sand on your... b-back.." she said nervously, and at once, set her paws fully on his butt, prying the starfish off.

As soon as the deadly thing let go, she flung it back in the water in a flurry, before turning back to face Tambuzi with a reddish-gray face and a big sheepish grin.
