"Thanks!" Tail still swishing a bit, Demyx set aside the cookie box, gasp, and started on his sandwich. Or at least half his sandwich...damn these things were big.
Ah, but the youth ate quickly apparently, as it was mere moments before Demyx was through the first half. All that fighting and standing up for himself must have really worked up an appetite.
He didn't, however, start on the second half. Maybe he was full? Or maybe eatting so quickly wasn't such a good idea. Oh well, for now he'd just sit there...at least he was happy.
...For a bit.

Xigbar was hungry, but he had barely taken two bites out of his own sandwich before Demyx had scarfed half of his. He watched for a moment, blinking, it was a wonder the kid didn't choke on it.
Finally he just shook his head and bit into his sandwich again, finishing the first half and then the second. He ate rather quickly, but it was nothing compared to the wolfing of the younger audio.
Realizing he thirsty, Xigbar stood and again rummaged in the fridge, finding some juice (eh...the kid didn't need anything stronger than that...yikes) and a couple glasses he again returned to the table. After pouring the liquid in both glasses, he passed one to Demyx.
"I guess you were hungry."

"Er yeah....guess so..." He grinned nervously, watching the older Audio as he passed him a glass of juice. "Thanks..." After sipping some of the juice, Demyx felt better, and began working on the second half of his sandwich.
Mmmm....

Xigbar blinked, Demyx had eaten all those cookies and was nearly finished with the sandwich as well, bottomless pit that one. As for Xigbar, the one sandwich had been enough for him, though he'd probably be hungry again later.
The older audio sat silently, closing his eye for a moment, and leaning back in his chair. It was nice to be able to relax for a bit, especially after earlier events.
Opening his eye again he looked around the room, and realized he'd made quite a mess of the kitchen while rummaging for food.
Eh heh heh oops, good thing Xaldin's not around.
Standing to his feet he started to clean up a bit, putting away the things they were done with.
"Did you want anything else? Or have you had enough?"

Demyx had, by now, finished off his sandwich. Next came finishing off the juice.
Mmm...now his tummy was full again, and some questions answered...crap...that let the sadness start to move it's way back in. Sigh....
"I'm fine....thanks..." Demyx looked up to watch Xigbar busy himself with cleaning. He really should get up and help out...but he just felt like he'd be in the way.

Occupying his paws with cleaning up for now, Xigbar fought to ward of the thoughts that kept drifting back to him. Old memories of the past that he'd never been able to forget, no matter how hard he tried, questions about why they were here and why he couldn't remember how'd they'd gotten here.
He sighed to himself as he felt Demyx's eyes on him, he could feel the young one's mood shift. He supposed he shouldn't have been surprised, he had afterall been seperated from his friend.
"Alright."
There were several moments of silence, until having finished cleaning up, he turned around to face Demyx again. There was an odd look in his eye, something no other had seen before...was it sorrow, remorse? What dark secrets of the past were hidden behind those yellow eyes? His next words would have shocked most, in fact he would have said them to no other.
"I'm sorry..."

Demyx met the look with his own sorrow filled eyes. "....really?...." He struggled to keep the tears back. He couldn't dwell on this...he just couldn't! It's what Saix wanted, him suffering like this...
"I....appreciate that..." He hung his head a moment, trying to get past this point so he could move on. But the look in Xigbar's eye kept lingering his thoughts. Xigbar looked so....sad. The scarred one didn't come off as someone who should be feeling remorse.

"Yeah..."
Xigbar forced a smile to try to reassure Demyx, but he couldn't hold it. Before the smile faded he turned away, looking toward the wall as he tried to shake the thoughts from his head. He couldn't let himself be consumed, he had to pull himself together, he had to be a leader.
His tail flicked as he rubbed the back of his neck, trying to ease the tension there as he thought of what to do with Demyx. He liked the kid too much to let him suffer more than he had to, but what could he do to keep him occupied so he wouldn't dwell on it?
"Is there anything you'd like to do? Maybe...I could teach you something?"

"Heh...I'd like to kick Saix's a**..." Some strong words from the non fighter of the group. But hey, Xigbar had asked, and Demyx would give anything to be able to put Saix back in his so called place and get Axel back right now.
"But since I probably can't do that..." He rubbed the few tears on a coat sleeve before looking back up at Xigbar. "You could teach me something? Like....what?"

Xigbar blinked for a moment at Demyx's words, but then he couldn't help but laugh.
"I seem to remember wanting to do that myself a few times."
Having managed to push his thoughts to the back of his mind for now, Xigbar turned back to look at Demyx. He thought about the question for a moment before holding out his paw palm up.
"Well, I could teach you how to do this."
A darkness formed in his outstretched paw, the same darkness that had created the portals he'd used to teleport them earlier. It was something they'd all known how to do at one time, but it seems most of them had forgotten.

"At least I'm not the only one...." Demyx smirked a bit. He had managed to make Xigbar laugh. Horray!
The darkness forming in Xigbar's hand caused him to jump up, skittering back a few feet to watch from there. That was rather...unexpected. "What IS that?!" He was fascinated, being naturally curious, but he couldn't help but feel some odd sense of dread when looking at the darkness. He had seen it before, he knew he had, but what was it about the darkness that scared him?
Slowly settling down, the blonde took a few cautious steps back towards Xigbar, gaze focused on the gathering darkness in his paw. "How did you do that...?"

Xigbar hadn't expected that reaction, it hadn't been his intention to frighten Demyx...again. He was about to dismiss the darkness and give up on that thought, but then the young one seemed to change his mind about it so he continued.
"Well, it's a portal, it's how I teleported us here in the first place--"
He stopped himself from adding 'and how I stopped the fight' to the end of that sentence, he figured it was best not to bring that up. The darkness reflected on his yellow eye as he watched it for a moment, contemplating. How could he explain it?
"Hmmm...well it's simple really, we can all do it. You just have to use...the emptiness..."
Xigbar struggled with the last words as he trailed off, he just couldn't bring himself to say the emptiness of where our hearts once were.

"So that's how we got here..." He had been wondering how they had suddenly been somewhere else, but more pressing matters were at hand so he hadn't had time to dwell on it.
He continued to step closer, eyes focused intently on the darkness. Something about it made him uncomfortable...but the memory was as dark as the portal itself. "The emptiness? What emptiness?" Demyx tore his gaze from the portal long enough to attempt to form his own...but that just resulted in a bubble floating above his outstretched paw. "I love water and all...but this is kinda frustrating...I don't even know how I can do this, and you're saying I can make one of those too?" At this he looked back up, glancing from Xigbar back to the darkness in his paw.

"Mmhmm," he nodded, "You just have to remember how."
He watched Demyx for a moment as he formwed the water bubble. That one he had no idea how to answer, he never had known much about water, that wasn't his element.
"Water is your element, that's how you do that. Just like my element is space, that's how I can warp and do this..."
He reached out with his other arm and picked up one of the glassess and held it in front of him. When he lowered his paw, the glass remained, hovering in midair.
"It's not something you can always explain, it's just feeling."
Replacing the glass, he turned again to the darkness in his other paw. How could he explain it without freaking out Demyx. He was pretty sure saying 'you don't have a heart' wouldn't be the right answer. He lowered his paw, dismissing the darkness, then took Demyx' paw and placed it over his own heart...or where it would have been had he one.
"Close your eyes. Now...feel that? There's an emptiness inside, like something is missing, use that."
Xigbar lowered his hand and stepped back. He suddenly had a terrible image of Xaldin showing up and finding them in his kitchen only to chase them out with his lance...Xigbar didn't like that image.
"Though umm...maybe we should do this in a different room."

Demyx dismissed the water bubble with a sigh. "My element...right...it'd be a lot more helpful if I could control it a bit better.... I guess I'll learn sometime."
The young one eyed the floating glass a moment, rather surprised. "Whoa! That's pretty cool!"
He blinked as his paw was placed over his own heart. At the instructions from Xigbar he shut his eyes, attempting to feel whatever it was Xigbar was talking about. "That's....kind of......erf what the heck?!" His eyes shot back open, the paw quickly removed from his chest. That was just too strange for him. "I don't like that feeling...something tells me I've felt it for far too long before..." He waited a moment before continuing, trying to gather his thoughts. "Kind of like it was the last thing I felt...before all this."
Shaking it off, the blonde turned back to Xigbar. "...do I have to feel like that when making those portal things? Because if so, I'm not so sure I want to..." He fidgeted, looking uncomfortable. Poor guy.
