I don't like to read with music on particularily, but if I do, it'll be music I've already heard. Sometimes, I think I listen to music a bit TOO much.

Kalandra I'm old fashioned, I guess. I prefer silence and solitude, most of the time. Reading is probably the only time that I don't have music on. xD
Same here, Kalandra. Reading and writing are two of the things I need my entire mind to do. When reading, I find myself distracted by music. Like you say, Inu_Kaiba, I tend to listen to the music and not my book.

myeh how can people write wihtout music?
When im writing if Im writing something fast paced(i.e., a fight ro a chase etc.etc.), I play something like anime soundtracks(Escaflowne's "appearance of the dragon Armor","Tank" from Cowboy bebop, the intros to Ghost in teh shell, etc. etc.
If its something luvvy duvvy(awww), perhaps something slow and romantic(~sigh~)
etc.etc.
I usually write after hearing a song-sweat- it makes me think,"wow, such a cool idea, gotta do it:p"

A lot of time, I don't listen to anything at all. I get easily distracted. But, if I am listening to music, it's usually something slow or sad. Sad music gets me into the reading mood, I suppose.

Usally nothing because I don't hear the music unless I have headphones on. Also I couldn't listen to a new CD while reading because then I would miss parts in the book.

Music distracts me while reading, so I usually don't listen to anything. But I listen to music way too much anyways, so I'm not missing anything.

I usually just put my music on shuffle whilst I'm reading. I have to have it quite quiet, though, otherwise I put too much effort into listening to the lyrics rather than reading the book.
For that reason, most of the time I don't listen to music when reading.

I normally listen to whatever CD I have in my boom box at the time. Or if it's something I'm reading on the computer, I'll play through my iPod playlist because it's all stuff I know I like.

I usually don't listen to anything because I'll immediately tune it out!

I've been listening to only jazz while reading lately. Everything has been kind of distracting. Except classical, but I don't have many classical cds.

It doesn't really matter to me what I listen to while I read (though I can't write while I'm writing, as I tend to start singing along and it distracts me from what I'm writing ninja ), as I do what Naazraiel does. I can normally tune anything out, whether it's loud speaking or music, and my mom often has to repeat herself while talking to me if I'm reading a book.

I love to listen to cds while I am reading. If I am in a noisy place I put on my head phones, zone everyone out, and focus on the book. I do the same thing if I am home alone, though. Reading in the quiet lets you pay more attention to the book, but if things are too quiet I get a little freaked . I don't pay much attention to the songs because they are ones I have listened to dozens of times all ready. The genre doesn't really matter. I just play whatever sounds appealing at the moment. ( FOB, Head Automatica, Hinder, Hellogoodbye, ect..) Yay for multitasking!

I have a playlist containing every single song I own, set on shuffle. Considering the variety of music I like, that's everything from classical to rock to classic rock.
