Belinda giggled at the noises after watching for a few minutes. The disappearing reappearing shoes were funny! When the ruckus didn't seem quite as scarey anymore, and it got a little quieter, she looked up towards the doorknob and then back the crack under the door, as if weighing her options to keep watching or see who was talking out there.
Slowly, she rose to her feet and opened the door, only opening it a few inches before peeking out to see who was attached to the funny shoes.

Sparks was stuffing more tobacco in his pipe when he noticed the door creeping open. He waggled his little fingers at the small face the appeared and smiled brightly.
" Well hello there cutyey.. names Sparks.. I'm just coming by to drop you off a present... see?"
He held out the box to Belinda and tried to get her to take it.
" It's for you, don't worry, it doesn't count with the rules"

Belinda looked at the little man with bright, curious eyes. He wasn't like that other man at all. She smiled shyly and pulled the door open a little more, but still kept standing with a little part of her body behind it.
Present? She eyed the package with intrigue and her smile widened a little more as she reached out for the package. She held it up and looked at it, liking how it was all prettied up. "Th.. thhh... thhhank you." she said quietly, her little forked tongue getting a little stuck when she started speaking. Her first words!

Sparks smiled and rubbed the back of his head.
" Ya enjoy ya gift .. I better get go..ack!"
Soon as the word "Go" was announced, Sparks' shoes sprung to life, literally. With a click and a sproing!, Sparks went flying downstairs, only to go bouncing around some more.
" You dang flangled doodlewhatsits!!"

Belinda was startled, once more, hopping backwards a bit when the springy shoes came back to life. Her eyes watched the bouncing man head off and she quickly ran after him, giggling quietly as she watched. However, she didn't run too far after him. She was in an unfamilar place and stopped just before the stairs, reconsidering following further. She wanted to go back to where was familar. And there was as lightly more urgent matter she wanted to tend to.
She returned to her room rather quickly, but had kept her eyes on the box in her hands. She moved to sit down on the edge of the bed after closing the door and held up the box to get a good look at it. She dared not disturb the package more than she had already.
Slowly she tugged on the pink ribbon, letting it fall into her lap, then she started pulling the pretty paper off gently. Like a little kitten, she was more than curious was inside the box.

Inside, laying quietly is a pretty doll. It's a bit different than your average doll in the way it looks. Lifting it up, you finda small pull ring on her back. Pulling the string makes the doll talk. The doll sound like an adult and a little sarcastic at times. Pulling the string more than once produces a different saying, all the way to the tenth time before it cycles back to the start again. Here is what she says:
1. Hello, my name is Ra'ceme, who might you be?
2. Looks like I'm going to be your friend * sighs*
3. Make sure you look after me
4. My skin is so ...pale
5. * Fifth one is always a new joke.. nothing rude*
6. You know, I like you kid.
7. Only five thousand eight hundred and forty- two days left, yaaay ( This counts down every day after the day she recieved it)
8. Don't brush my hair too hard
9. That string tickles
10. ??? ( Number ten is always different, why? because Ra'ceme is actually the name of the Drow female rogue that's trapped inside the doll, on every tenth pull, she gets to say what she likes for the length of time it takes for the ring to go to her back again.)

Belinda's eyes twinkled a little bit when she finally got the box open and gazed at its contents. She pulled out the doll, just staring at it while gently running her fingers over all the features, barely touching the doll, nearly treating it like a pristine artifact in how she was handling it.
The box, long forgotten at this point, fell to the floor making only the most quiet little sound as it hit the carpet. With much care and tenderness, Belinda scooted back up on her bed, pulling her legs up towards herself, sitting cross-legged. It had taken her a moment to find the pull-string, but when she spotted it, it was nearly instinctual that she looped her index finger in the ring and pulled.
Hello, My name is Ra'cerne, who might you be?
Belinda just blinked and set the doll down on the bed across from her, pulling her hands back and folding them in her lap. "B..B.. Bel..Belinda." she was new to this talking stuff, so it would take some time for her to get it down. She smiled and nodded, happy for successfully introducing herself. A few minutes of staring at her new toy passed before she realized that Ra'cerne wasn't going to talk back unless the string was pulled again.
She leaned forwards and pulled the string, quickly pulling herself back to sit upright and proper in front of Ra'cerne.
Looks like I'm going to be your friend *sigh*
Belinda grinned hearing Ra'cerne say that. "I be y..your f..ff...fffriend, too." she responded quietly, but quite excitedly, grinning now at her doll.

The young serpent girl awoke slowly. Something seemed familar about this, a rather significant deja vu feeling overwhelmed Belinda as she stretched her arms up over her head. It took her a few minutes of just laying there in the darkness to remember what was going on.
She wiggled her toes a little bit. 'Wait ... I can wiggle my toes?' Why did this seem important? In a wave of excitement, Belinda threw her covers off and looked at her legs, slowly moving her eyes towards her toes. She wiggled her toes again, the slowly tried rotating her ankles.
"I can move my feet again!" She swung her legs over the side of her bed, planting her feet rather firmly on the soft carpeted floor. She could hear the hinges of the braces on her knees squeaking just a little as she moved. She made sure her feet were braced and she tried to stand up, slowly now.
She wobbled a little bit, but was beaming. She hadn't stood on her own two feet for months. Confident now that the wobbling stopped, she took a step forward. So far, so good...
The second step was not so lucky. Her ankles weren't quite used to supporting her weight and she went tumbling forward when she lost her balance, hitting the floor with a loud thud.
Fall flat on her face didn't phase her this time. She was too excited now that she could move her feet again. For so long, she had thought she would be stuck in that bed forever...
"Now I will be able to sssee my friendsss!" It had felt like forever since she had seen them.

The Cyan Serpent girl had been working hard to make her legs strong again, so she could get the braces off as soon as possible. And in her rehabilitation she'd started growing annoyed at the metal attached at each knee and ankle. Not so much that they were there or had to be there, but that they were starting to get in the way. She knew she was walking funny and she often times imagined herself to be a construct as well, or least, as close as she could pretend. But make-believing to be a construct got boring and she wanted to venture out further, but she was scared to leave the security of the Development House. Scared also what people might think of her if they seen the contraptions on her legs. Or worse, they'd ask her what happened. She didn't fully know what happened still, just that she was on the mountain with Mack and then things got fuzzy.
But despite all that, she rarely let those little detail dampen her spirits. Sure she thought about it, but she didn't mope nor dwell on it. She knew the braces weren't permanant.
Today was her first trip outside of the Development House since her accident on the mountain. Altho the sky was brighter than she liked (she prefered the dark night sky) she was excited for the fresh air and ... what was this falling from the sky?
She held her hand out and squinted her eyes a little bit as she tried to examine the small white flakes. But ... they disappeared too fast to actually be studied. After watching flake after flake just melt the minute it hit her skin, it finally occurs to her what these flakes are!
She'd read about snow, and had always wanted to see it for herself. She giggled and looked up to the sky to watch it fall for a moment before extending her little arms out and spinning.
She'd even tripped a little, not being able to manuever as easily, but her legs had grown strong and she caught her balance again without any pain at all. She squealed, so excited now.

It took her nearly all afternoon to get to the park, to the obelisk that she had been referred to go see. Many distractions, many detours and basic child-like wandering kept her entertained pretty easily. And as usual, she had her best friend, Ra'cerne with her, talking and making the walk even more fun.
The festivities described in the posted sign seemed really fun and Belinda was so excited to participate! But .. she was a little scared too, to show up with her leg braces still on. She hesitated touching the Obelisk for quite some time, trying to convince herlself that maybe no one would notice. Besides that, she missed her friends something terrible, and she wanted to meet new people. She was lonely afterall. Finally she'd managed to convince herself she could do this, and she would have fun, and even Ra'cerne seemed to think it was a good idea. Or at least, that was what she deciphered from her pull-string doll.
She was happy with her decision, not regretting it, not thinking back on it. And she decided that today was definately a good day and she slowly wandered around in the snow, dawdling making her way back home. She hummed a little, and even tried skipping, but quickly ruled that out when she almost fell again.
"Ra'cerne, I hope I can get my braces off soon. I want to roll around in the snow!"

Sparks Metalgrinder To: Belinda Special Message?: Merry Christmas Belinda!!! Gift Wrappings: in a small velvet black box, on the top of it is a single red bow. A card is left with it with Mackenzie name on it. The card is simple also as it had snowflakes on it. Looks like the card was hand made. Gift Description: A simple gold necklace with a ruby stone in it. It looks pretty plain but really the necklace holds a great power to it. The person wearing this necklace can warm up anything they touch. Gift Image:

Belinda had been unable to attend the special party in the park because it just was too far to walk. She'd made it there the other day with no problems, or so she thought, but the next day, her legs were hurting quite a bit. It was hard to tell if it was from the akward way in which she walked with the braces on, or if they weren't quite ready for such a long walk yet.
She cried a little bit, as she thought about what she was missing and how alone she is now. She missed Livvy and Mack, the only other two Rosins she's ever met. She remembered seeing a third, a boy much like herself, but she didn't remember much else about him. But she missed him too, whatever his name was. She hated that she couldn't remember that detail as well.
She sat on the stool under her window just looking outside and watching things. She held in her hand the small velvet box one of the constructs had delivered to her a few days ago. She hadn't the heart to open yet, as she thought about the party and other Rosins and the presents they were exchanging. She wondered if the girl Chloe liked the gift she'd picked out for her. She knew the box in her hand was from Mackenzie, and just that little fact warmed her heart tremendously. She'd smile a little each time she glanced down at the box.
"I ssshouldn't be ssscared to open thissh." She hissed quietly, talking towards Ra'cerne who she'd left on her bed. She glanced back up and out the window into the darkness once more, at the twinkling stars and sighed.
"Thissh issh dumb. I ssshould not be sssuch a baby!" She looked at the box and flipped open the card for the millionth time since acquiring the gift. She read the words, letting the sentiment lift her spirits again and she smiled. She was very tender with how she handled that little box, letting her fingers feel the soft velvet before she took hold of each half with each hand. She held up up to her face, and cracked it open just a teeny bit and peeked into the box, squinting one eye with the other one closed. It didn't help peek at all!
She slowly kept opening it, millimeter by slow millimeter until the force of the spring in the little hinge was enough to snap itself open all the way. With a little jump, startled slightly by the box doing that, she looked at the contents quite curiously. Tipping her head a little, she slowly touched the red stone that was looking back at her. It was such a pretty stone, the sparkle catching her eye almost immediately.
Belinda admired the necklace for quite a while, leaving it in the box, not knowing it was a necklace at first. But when she finally removed it from the box, and seen that it had a long chain, she grew excited, because now she could keep it with her always! Belinda was so excited for this gift, she had completely forgetten her current misery, and frame of mind.
She slipped the necklace round her neck and got up, twirling a little in her room and giggling. "Ra'cccerne! I need to sssee Mack and tttthank her!"
