eurochick, I've been in almost the same situation before. My family and I lived in Switzerland for three years, and when I took riding lessons there, it was really tough to get what they meant sometimes. They occasionally had to resort to something like sign language. xp Whereabouts do you live?

i don't know what kind of ballet i do. each teacher's style is a little different. i remember this great combination from last year. let me see...

pique, waltz turn, pique, waltz turn, pique, chasse, tourjete, tombe, pas de bourre to fourth, pirouette(s), tombe, pas de bourre, glissade, grand jete devlope

its the best combination. i love it.

Hmm.. I doubt anyone has heard of it, but I do Yoko Ichino's Method... she developed it by the time she was 14 (i think xp ) to help her with her piroettes (that always looks wrong) The method is very into alignment and such.

OMFG!! im soo exited and pissed off. Last night I went to abt's gisselle, but i was really mad at the casting. It was beautifully staged, and costumed, and all the dancers technique was flawless, but many of the leads, epecially gisselle (who was played by Xiomara Reyes) danced without feeling or passion. She looked like a perfect, graceful, robot that danced without passion. The only two principal dancers that I really liked were Gillian Murphy, who played Myrta and danced with alot of feeling and passion, and Maria Ricetto, who danced the peasents pas de deux and didn't dance with what i would call passsion, but danced with what i would almost call spunk and looked like she was truelly doing her favorite thing in the world when she danced. I also kind of liked Isaac Stappes, who played the gamekeeper and had a very unique style to his dancing. Overall, the performance and the dancing was amazing, but just not what you would expect of abt.

When I start my fall classes it will be my 3rd year of ballet and first of pointe! I just got the shoes and had to post so I would know where to sew them whee . So now I need to break them in! Hope they are easier to dance in when there broken in, and with ribbions and elastic, the heel keeps falling off of me! gonk If anyone has any tips on breaking shoes (pointe) in, it's good to share! 3nodding

My teacher usually does them for us when she checks that they fit right. All she does is grab the shoe near the heel and wack the shank hard on the edge of the desk until it breaks... I've never actually had a pair broken in for me though because my feet are so strong they break them naturally after a couple wears and besides, the ones I buy now have already been broken in and shaped for me. When I buy them, they're already in the shape I need them for when en pointe and are very very flexible but always spring back to that pointe. I love them, makes it easier to get en pointe because it springs you up whee

Wow... are you serious? Like I said (or did I?) this is my first pair of pointe shoes, so you have to break the shank?
