Rex hugged Avery quickly then asked, "Where's Tim? Thatwashisname, right? Tim?" With so many people on the island it was hard to rememebr all of the names that you learned. And there was nothing more awkward then when you call someone by the wrong name, it makes the other person feel like they don't matter, like they weren't important enough to have their name remembered. .. or at least thats how Rex felt. Then again, not manyh people forgot Rex's name as it was rather obscure.

"Fiona. The whole party was my idea," She said to Avery proudly, pausing when Rex mentioned someone named Tim. "Hey, isn't that the guy who plays the guitar? I looked everywhere for him- I was hoping we could put together some kind of music jam or something. Bit too late now, unless he's up for some improvising. Y'know, if he shows. You guys hungry? I think I started the food too early." She ran her fingers absently through her hair, glancing at the cooking meat and vegetables.

"Oh, of course I'm excited" Avery said to Nita. "I love parties. I used to go to them all the time, you know, back at home," he said, waving his hand absently as he took another sip from his drink.
He looked back at Rex. "Not sure, I told him about it and when it's gonna be. I'm hoping he'll show up," Avery said, shrugging. "And yeah, his name's Tim," he smiled.
"Well, great job on the party, Fiona! I'm glad someone decided to throw one. I suck at party planning, I just like to show up for them. Yeah, Tim plays the guitar... he sings too," Avery grinned. "I don't think you started too early - I'm starved!" he started helping himself to the food as well, glancing at the vegetables, but going for the meat instead.

"I wasn't really a party-girl back home. I went to a kegger once, freshman year, and ended up holding some girl's hair while she barfed all over the place." Nita made a face at the memory.
"Food sounds good," she agreed, following Avery. She grabbed a hotdog and squirted on a bit of ketchup. Eyeing the kebabs, she shrugged and selected one anyway.

Rex followed suit after Avery, diving into the assorted selection of meat and ignoring the vegetables completely. "Nothin' I love more than a big ol' barbeque."
Rex laughed at Nita's story, "Well.. that sounds like fun." He smiled, taking a large bite out of his hotdog, "I didn't really party much either because... well.. there wasn't really anyone to party with..." He shrugged and squirted a bit more ketchup onto his food. "Nice food, by the by."

Awen concentrated on her breathing as she stepped onto the sands by the beach. The last time she had been near the waves they had swallowed her up in her escape attempt. It wasn't that she was afraid of the water again, per say, but she definately didn't like the way the manta still longed for the ocean. Her logical mind knew if she went into those waters she would drown, again, but the manta ray didn't understand the concept. The ocean and salt water were it's natural home, it couldn't comprehend being able to swim, but having to stay away from the vast free space within the salty depths.
Aside from the internal conflict Awen was in a rather good mood. She had seen a poster..or rather a dozen posters.. in town all set up for the party. Her curiosity had gotten the better of her as she peaked her way around the corner of the path. A bottle of cool fresh lake water was clipped to her blue shorts, so she didn't hae to leave if her skin got dry and wouldn't have to go into the ocean waters if she neglected it for awhile. A red swim suit top covered the rest of her that needed to be covered and all was well in her mind. Not that she planned to do any swimming... at least not here. Maybe after the party some late night- early morning swimming in the lake would be nice. Awen had always liked it at night...
But for now Awen slowly made her way to the party area, taking in the setup and lay out of the party as well as the people currently there. She smiled seeing Rex and Avery but wasn't so sure how she felt about Fiona and her friend. She still felt awkward about how she told Sabin about her planning mind. The other girl, another red-head, she had never met before.
She nodded slightly seeing everything was in order and no one too threatening was around. She began to walk forward more still with a casual speed. She waved a little bit. "Hey everyone!"

Avery preferred the burgers over the hotdogs, fixing one up for himself as his tail swayed slowly before taking a bite. "Well, it's not a party until you have to held someone's hair out of their face," he chuckled. He noticed someone else walking over to them, and he smiled when he recognized the other girl. "Hey, Awen! Glad you made it!" he called out to her, waving. "Come on and join the party!"

"Oh yes, it was delightful," Nita replied drily. She grinned again and turned to wave as another Islander made their way to the party. Taking a bite of her hotdog, she waved. Chewing quickly to clear her mouth she went to introduce herself. "Hey there, I'm Nita. Awen, is it?" Fiona had wandered off somewhere, so she figured she ought to play hostess a bit. Gesturing, she continued, "We've got hotdogs, burger, and vegetable kabobs on the grill, and drinks are in the coolers, so help yourself."

Rex looked up from his meal at the mention of someone else approaching the party. He mulled on his food for a little bit, looking around for this new visitor until his eyes fell upon the manta girl. "Awen..." He whispered, setting his plate down quickly and barging over to the girl down the shore.
He took her up in a big hug, swinging the lightweight around him then placed her down back in the soft sand. "You're okay... I haven't seen you since... since the monring I changed! Gosh that was so long ago, I miss you! How are you?!" The words spewed from his mouth as though he hadn't seen the girl in years. I sure felt like years, though it had only been a few months. He didn't understand how little he saw of people in such a confined space. It's not like they were going back home for a few weeks at a time to see their family, then coming back to the island. Like that'd ever happen.

While the others had begun to dig into the food she had so carefully stopped from burning, Fiona jogged down the beach to a pile and soon returned with a blanket. This she unfolded in a long wave of her arms and settled down on the ground next to the fire, away from where the smoke was being blown. "Alright, have a seat guys! It's fine if you get sand on it- it's just one I filched from storage." She caught sight of Awen and, recognising her blue hair off the bat, studiously ignored her. "So you were a real partier then, Avery? Bet you did lots of dancing, eh? D'you think eventually we can get these people off their asses and on their feet?" She conversed jovially.

Rex looked at the minimal stack of firewood that they had and then back to the rest of the people at the party, "It's going to get dark soon, I'm going to get some more firewood." he ran off back into the jungle to the large pile he'd found.

Awen glanced briefly to the food on the table and she found nothing to be overly appealing. Maybe she would grab a hotdog or something later, but for now the non-fishy substinance wasn't exactly what she wanted to handle at the moment. "Nice to meet you Nita." She smiled.
She saw Fee's glance and how she was ignored, but she didn't have much time to think about it as she was scooped up by Rex and swung around. "Woah woah there!" She laughed and patted his back when he stopped swinging her, hoping vaguely that the world would stop spinning too. "Nice to see you again too Rex. I've been fine, kind of keeping to myself." SHe flashed a grin. "And my xbox 360."
Then he promptly ran off to get more firewood. Awen shifted her weight slowly. "See you later." She smiled and turned back to the others. She'd never been to many parties so she really wasn't much for the happenings of this event. So she would just sit back and wait for things to happen. It wasn't as sofisticated as the halloween party, but that was no surprise. She liked the nice personal atmosphere.

Avery plopped down on the corner of the blanket when Fiona set it down, taking another gulp of his drink and another bite of his burger before replying to her. "Maybe! If there were some music, hopefully we can get some here..." he wondered if there were CDs and a CD player somewhere around here, but he had no idea where to look to find out. How long has it been since he'd danced to music... he couldn't remember - hell, he couldn't even remember how long it's been since he got here.

"You, too," Nita told Awen. "I'm gonna go sit down, I've got smoke in my eyes." Suiting actions to her words, she flopped down on the blanket, being careful nonetheless not to track a bunch of sand onto it.
"I've got a CD-player and some stuff, but no speakers." She shrugged and finished her hotdog, brushing crumbs off her fingers. "Besides, my music isn't really good for dancing."

Snatching a vegetable-kebab from the grill and using the hem of her skirt as a buffer from the hot metal, Fiona pulled it away from the fire so it would keep the food warm without burning it. "There, now that the burgers are saved from being turned into cow-flavoured hockey pucks..." she mumbled to herself, sticking the end of her kebab into her mouth before flopping down next to the other two.
"I can go on a hunt for music in a bit. I didn't have anything on me when I got here, seeing as I was kidnapped," Fiona stated pointedly, before chewing thoughtfully and swallowing. "But nevermind. Parties are for fun, not freaking out about s**t. So let's have fun! Maybe we should play a drinking game or something- seeing as distant tropical islands don't really have a drinking age." She gave a daring wink at Nita. Still she ignored Awen. Not being childish. No, not at all.
