Kilsalt brough down his left foot, letting it touch the ground once more. He closed his eyes. Both his feet were squarely apart, and his center of gravity stood simply in the center of his body. With his legs bent, and his back erect, he began to focus on his breathing.
"We shall focus on our breathing. Control, not vigor or passion, is the guiding strength of firebending. It is the warmth, the hot liver in your stomach, that makes your firebending stronger." His breathing was equal, un-interrupted. "Do you understand?"

Kai examens his master, ready for any surprising attack " sorry, i wasnt focusing earlier....i was knocked down." Kai closed his eyes and assumes his position. *breathing-and controling* kai spoke " Master, this lesson you are teaching me... is called the breath of fire?

"No. Breathing is the basis of firebending. Your chi is transfered with your breathing, and it causes fire to explode from your limbs. 'Upfront' bending." His hands inteconnected, becoming intertwined, and shifting into a loose hold. "If you master breathing you will become adept at any firebending move." The firebender's posture remained fixed in place.
"I'm improving your overall firebending abilities. That, in itself, is a better lesson than a new move."

"Does my apprentice have a name?" He said, with his eyes closed. The oncoming sunset had turned from orange to a deep blooming purple, manipulating the red of all the building in the port city. His breath continued to be even, settling with the incoming northern breeze.

"Kai, the Avatar was chosen sixteen years ago. I'm thirty-nine." He held firm, focusing on the image of the horizon within his mind's eye. "However.. If I was the Avatar.. That'd be interesting. The ability to control all four elements, and be garenteed a spot in history.." He chuckled, breaking his concentration to think about being the Avatar. Both of his feet spread further apart from each other, causing his center of gravity to become lowered.
"I'm Kilsalt. Some people call me the 'Eternal Flame'. I bet you haven't heard of me."

"A man that worked under me in a battle called me it. It caught on amongst the troops and.. Now a lot of people call me it." He chuckled, still with his eyes closed and holding his body loosely in his meditation position. "I lasted nine days before I collapsed from exhaustion from all my firebending. I was able to get to the commander of the bandits, who had a reasonable army of five or six thousand defending him. Probably funded by a power hungry merchant. Anyways, I was able to kill the leader guy and make the bandits retreat with some quick strategy."
Kilsalt continued to chuckled. His toes pointed outwards, making the intersection angle of his heels 90 degrees. "It's what got myself my rank in the Fire Nation army. Amazing what some popularity can do for someone, apprentice?"

"I'm nothing special so I don't get a rank that's special." He chuckled, holding his body firm in his meditation. "That's all that you need to know, Kai." A small amount of metal banged against each other as a heavily clothed Fire Nation warrior ran up the nearby stairs. The guard rushed towards Kilsalt, with obvious sweat stains in his/her fabric area of the guard garb, holding a letter.
When the guard reached the pair of firebender, he/she bent down onto one knee and quickly spoke the purpose of the letter. "Commander Kilsalt SIR! There is a small band of bandits in the marketplace and the governor has issued commands to you so that you may remove the threat!" The messenger took a deep breath, and quickly continued," There has already been a casualty, and five hostages- SIR!" Obviously, from the tone of the guard's voice, she was female.
"Well," Kilsalt said bluntly. "Kai. We'll be going to the market place so that I may show you a demonstration of basic firebending skills."

Kilsalt moved quickly, rushing down the nearby stairs to go onto the rocky coble stone beside the wall. The firebender continued to move towards the market, over hearing several city-folk talking about how evil the bandits were.
Oddly enough.. He then saw who the bandits were. The mostly wooden marketplace was the best spot to attack a firebender heavy city- it made it so that firebenders would have to focus on their attacks so that they didn't burn a group of carts. That also made it so that the firebender guards couldn't focus on the small group of trickster attackers.
"Kai. Stay here," he motioned for his student to stop where he currently stood. They both were behind an over turned cart, and currently were unseen by the bandits. "Stay quiet, and don't jump into the fray. Alright?"

Kilsalt dashed forward, and jumped up. His feet formed an odd oval, which along with his breathing, caused a circular mess of flame to burst at the first of the bandits. He quickly landed and fell to his right knee. Fuming out a large breath and pushing both hands in opposite directions he released two separate balls of flame which smashed into the pack of bandits.
Flame erupted in his eyes as he dashed towards another fugitive. The spear weilding fighter stabbed at the firebender's chest, forcing Kilsalt to duck. The sharp end of the spear nearly cut open his bald head. As he ducked he placed his left hand onto the cobble stone walkway and began to do a spinning ground kick. Kilsalt shifted his weight, making his two feet to shift around him in a circle- releasing a small spinning torrent of flame around him.
It sent three bandits back into the nearby stalls, severely marked by the Commander's flame. After sending his opponents back into the nearby carts he stood up and looked upon the remaining twelve or so members of the raiding band. His eyes still remained alight with inner passion, burning away at their thoughts of fleeing.
