Somehow Autry kept his mind out of the gutter, or bathroom as the case was. "That will be fine. Where's this park exactly?"

"Just across the street; I take walks there. Have to go, I think I just burnt my hair. I'll ring back after I call Ice. Ciao!"

There was an audible click. The adult feien looked pensive for a little while, and then she said: "Well, we'd better be off. It's the only place he'll meet you; and damned if you do, and damned if you don't."

Autry switched the transmitter in his watch back to closed audio and raised his hand to his ear as he followed Burgundia. "I've got the meeting place for this Silva, we're heading there now." Whatever secret response he received it seemed to suit Autry. He tugged his sleeve back down over his watch.

It was almost twenty minutes later when the shadow feien made his way through the park. He headed for Dee with a lazy air. He hadn't gotten to bed yet, actually. Faint traces of blood splattered his flesh, just starting to dry from his overly long night of hunting. And he wasn't in the mood for this s**t.

He paused as he reached them, looking over Dee for a moment to see if she was hurt. Soho would kill him if she had been. Then his eyes flickered up on the male, looking more bored than anything. "I'm Silva."

He was alone.

If sheer, ferocious willpower could cause wishes to come true, Burgundia would have been able to communicate with Silva somehow; she was furious all over again, wanting to tell him how they'd threatened Ruby, knowing they'd probably rip him apart, knuckles white. The look she gave him was colder and meaner than any she'd ever given him before, which was a signifier that something was probably wrong.

"They want to talk to you about the old feien," she said slowly, eyes on him; she would rather have been in Montana, anywhere, locking Ruby up where they couldn't get to her - "the lost ones. Ursa. I really sincerely could not give a s**t."

"They" referred to the assortment of two humans and a feien, the humans being Gunn and Autry, the feien being Geiseric du Pont. Du Pont shot a look at Burgundia that read as vaguely annoyed.

"If you wouldn't mind," said the feien inquisitor, "I'd like to ask the questions." He felt it necessary to assert that even if he was allowing these Gaian feien to tag along, it was still his investigation. "I am Inquisitor Geiseric du Pont. For the record, is Silva your full name?"

"Is Silva my full name..." Silva repeated. "What the ******** do you think? I sure as hell wouldn't be running around with the name of Silva Queen. Sounds like a crossdresser in Chinatown." He looked back to Dee. "Come over here, darlin." He said, not expecting an argument before he went on.

"If you're looking for lost feien, you're wasting my time." He told Autry with a derisive candor. "It's damn easy to die when you're eight inches or so tall and don't even weigh a pound."

"Excuse me, religious reasons," Burgundia said kindly to Geiseric. "Though to be sure, I am riveted by investigations and will surely look into getting into the career path."

Dee crossed over next to Silva; she laid one hand on his shoulder and bent her head close to his, obviously hoping that Gunn, Autry and Geiseric wouldn't question this as a holy practice. She hissed through her teeth and into his ear, as quietly as she could. "Don't react. M's blackmailing me: with the girls. I know you're not stupid, just don't goddamn tell them where you live."

She took her hand away from his shoulder and stepped away, giving just one glance to the Security operatives. "Maybe you should read him the list Miss Ruya and I collated for y'all, sir."

There was some honestly indignant confusion as to why Silva had chosen to address Autry in response to du Pont's question. Autry, who had not addressed the tall feien and was standing deferentially a step behind the others so they could conduct their investigation, an investigation he was still not quite sure he should be a part of.

There was honest confusion as to Burgundia's statement, which seemed to come out of nowhere and bear no connection to anything which had preceeded it. Then again, "they" had been warned that Burgundia was unstable.

Before indignation or confusion could turn into action and words on the part of the others, Autry dashed forward a step so he was in front of Gunn and du Pont and raised his palms in a nonthreatening manner. "Back up here a minute," he said sharply. "You have a problem with my partner's questions? And you--" he curled his left hand and pointed his finger at Burgundia-- "you want to step back and explain yourself, lady?"

Partner, he had called du Pont his partner. Du Pont's eyes widened. Probably it had been habitual on Autry's part, since all Security personnel worked with partners, but it was still a good sign. Secretly, Gunn was pleased.

Silva snorted, looking first at Autry, then at du Pont. "Then you're not being used as a glorified toy?" He asked dryly. "I'm surprised. Antipov doesn't give a s**t about feien intelligence, figured it ran in the family." He had gotten that out of his brother one night, and hadn't been to surprised. Especially with how Antipov had reacted to the death scene a few months before.

He didn't react to the blackmail comment. He'd actually been expecting something like that. "You want to know about Ursa? If I tell you that much you'll let me and Darlin here skip out. Right?" It wasn't much of a question. And idly his mind stuck on the name "Ruya." It figured she'd make a list.

"One thing you've got to understand..." He added. "Things aren't the same as back when Ursa was around. The one feien I used to consider a threat is now a brat I could snap in half. And Ruya..." He drawled the name with a hint of sarcasm. "Probably doesn't even remember who she is, much less the past."

"Which is why," a soft voice cut in, "we need to speak to you." Gunn's eyes never left his fingers, which were rolling a coin across his knuckles.

"We're not with Intelligence," said du Pont pointedly, wondering what precisely "feien intelligence" was supposed to mean. "We're from Investigative Services."

"Ursa, what can you tell us about her?" said Gunn suddenly.

"And no interfering with the witness," Autry warned Burgundia with a frown.

"She never met Ursa." Silva said plainly, pointing over his shoulder at Dee. "But her brother did. If you want to bring the little b*****d back to life, that is." He figured he would just have to kill him again, but didn't comment on that.

For a second he fell silent as he sorted through his memories. A lot of things had happened since Ursa, and it had been a long time. "She was a trainer. Biggest damn feien I'd ever met. Spiky pink hair and green... or blue skin, hell, I can't remember. But odds are she got into a fight she couldn't win. Haven't seen her since I was a kid."

Then he shook his head slightly, looking into du Pont's eyes. "When I say intelligence, I don't mean the group."

Slight puzzlement still colored du Pont's features. "Intellect," Gunn quietly clarified. The rapport between the two was strong enough that du Pont could tell by Gunn's tone the issue should be dropped for the time being.

"Yes, well, we would appreciate it if you'd sit down for a statement," huffed du Pont. "Will you accompany us back to regional headquarters? It won't take more than an hour of your time." He said it mostly for Gunn's sake. The towering human could be particular about where he sat, especially in public places like this park.

"There's nothing else to say." Silva said irritably. "I met her all of two or three times, spent the time talking whisky and training. Look. I haven't slept since the night before last. This blood is starting to dry and get itchy, and--" He stopped, cursing silently as he glanced over at Dee.

"Let her leave and I'll go with you." He said finally. "But you aren't going to get anything out of it, other than a headache." One which he already had.

"No one's forcing her to stay," said du Pont, surprised. He looked at Burgundia. "You asked to join the investigation. If you've changed your mind, you're welcome to depart, Miss Burgundia. And Mr. Silva, if you'd prefer to have some rest and... wash up, we can arrange a time for the interview at your convenience."
