Uennie
___Uenoh'ai walked slowly into her Laboratory, swinging her hands as she went. Stopping, she clasped them behind her back and surveyed the room. Fading sunlight reflected off of her sunglasses, casting a glimmer across the plant life, entwined into the lava rocks cemented to the walls. Birds of Paradise and Feather Hibiscus decorated the room, having taken root behind numerous ferns. The plants had dug deep below the surface and broke through the marble tiles with their roots. They had created a terrain of their own, breaking down the hard blocks with constricting vines.

___White Ginger, Pikake, and Plumeria drenched the room in a seductively sweet smell, a scent that reminded Uennie greatly of home. A mud-red pot sat directly in-view of the door way, carefully positined for maximum exposure in the unique conditions of the room. A small gecko scuttled out from the terracotta, making its way up the moss-lined walls.

___Her personal Laboratory seemed normal enough when you entered. The significant difference was however, the glass walls creating the last one third of the room. It wasn't exactly enough to create a greenhouse effect, simply a change of architecture. This allowed her to view the city and far away mountains and forests from any point in the room. The flora and fawna residing inside were just botanical studies gone out of control. She was just too apathetic to have re-potted them afterwards.

___Wave and rainforest patters were frosted into the glass towards the bottom of the rounded transparent wall. Stained glass windows created an arc above, salvaged from flea markets and art fairs. In the dusky light, the colourful flowers radiating from those plain pieces of glass created a moving picture on the floor, signaling that the sun was setting. Quietly pleased, Uenoh'ai picked up a small journal, turned on her heel, and left. As the click of the lock on the door sounded, and it was the end of the day.

Natsube
((I'm STILL modeling my whale... 3d SUCKS))

Natsube stared forlornely at her computer screen, absently pressing away at the keys. Since Dr. Gaia had left for parts unknown, it had fallen to Natsube to take up the slack. Unluckily for her, Dr. Gaia was not known for much organization, and neither was Natsube herself.

So the piles of papers on her desk, charts and logs and fragments of pots, continued to pile higher and higher and higher....

Natsube sighed again, and patted her pot. Although she was one of the first to receive a speciman, other, newer members had already succeeded in growing a tree, and in some surprising cases, a child. Natsube wasn't sure what was wrong, but she had a nagging feeling that it had something to do with the amount of work that she was struggling under, and she hadn't the time to actually smother the attention on Rune, her little terracotta pot.

Natsube decided to write her daily journal up once again, in order to push aside her mountain of work for a moment.

"There is a little sprout shooting up in the pot, but that isn't unusual. It has been like that for weeks, which is unusual. Growth is stagnated, but it continues to live."

Natsube stopped, and chewed on her pen tip.

"Perhaps lack of attention can be accredited to the stagnation, hypothesised because of the children that have grown, but the plant type itself might be responisble for the stagnation."

Natsube groaned, and leaned back her chair in frustration. Being slightly clumsy herself, Natsube fell out of her chair, and grabbed her desk to keep herself from falling. Although she did stop falling, she was unable to stop herself from knocking all of the papers on the desk.

The lab was treated to a hoarse scream of anger.

((Uennie's introduction.... kinda))

Uennie
((Renault I'm not sure what that is supposed to mean. It doesn't look very friendly. To be fair all events should be hosted on the Vale account. It'd make more sense.))

___Hearing a sort of loud grunt, Uenoh'ai pushed her sunglasses up onto her forehead and walked through the large Laboratory. Her heels clicked methodically, working her way towards the curious noise. A rustle of paper sounded and she turned on her heel, looking directly into the room.

___"Miss Natsube if you're not careful you might smudge some of your data."

___Uennie stooped to pick up the papers and carefully arrange them. Gently blowing on a few to dry the blotchy ink she set them on the desk and scooted her posterier to rest on the edge.

___Her eyes wandered over the frustrated body of her head of staff. She smiled and patted Natsube on the back.

___"Do you want me to get you some coffee? Tea? Me?" Uennie laughed jokingly, crossing her legs and examining the pot in front of her.

___"My you've been busy."

Rabid Jigglypuff
Silence echoed through the small lab room, offset by the random interruption by what sounded like heavy breathing. A terracotta pot sat under a warm heat lamp, the seedling buried deep within no doubt hungrily absorbing the energy that was provided. Although the soil within had produced little disturbance beside the growth of a small shoot, it was undoubtably alive and thriving actively.

As for it's observer...

A loud outburst from down the hall caused the unweary botanist to nearly fall off the teetering metal stool she was precariously positioned on. A small moan, a groan, rubbing of the eyes behind dark sunglasses (despite the lack of "sunlight" in the building). It seemed the steadfast lab tech had fallen asleep....AGAIN.

Rabid let out a gruff yawn and stretched her arms back in their sockets though her eyes trailed towards the spot where she recalled she had left her pot. "Oh good." She mumbled sarcastically to no one in particular. "Haven't moved an inch. You're so reliable Sevy, really."

Uennie
___Uennie turned her head slightly. Leaning over to the wall from where she was sitting, she pressed a manicured finger onto the button of the intercom.

___"Attention all Laboratory employees. Due to the oncoming of Valentines Day, feel free to drop by the larger biodome greenhouse and pick some flowers to bring home to your sweetheart!"

___She lifted her finger and pulled out a small tin of Altoids. Popping one in her mouth she offered the opened tin to her collegue. "Cinnamon Altoid?"

Natsube
((Rennie, we're both busy, and Uennie is really a GIGANTIC help smile
All I know is, I created the shop, and I draw, you cert and manage, and Uennie helps me from letting it all go down hill. *happy hugs all around*))

Natsube stood up with a groan, and stretched her arms.

"Coffee would be great, but you don't have to go make it. I haven't made any headway in this paperwork, and its starting to give me nightmares."

Natsube shuddered.

"Really, I need a break. Dr. Amelia was brilliant, but she was a pain when it came to paperwork," Natsube smiled crookedly, "and I'm not a whole lot better, anyway."

Natsube started to walk out of the office, her white heels clicking on the floor.

"Its too bad you all arrived before she left. You would have really liked her."

Uennie offered her a cinnimon mint, but Natsube stuck out her tongue.

"Ugh. I detest all mints. And bananas."

((I updated Amelia's journal with more plot. YAY))

Rabid Jigglypuff
Rabid heard the announcement loud and clear, rolling her eyes as the beginnings of a response. "Sweetheart. Pfft." The woman murmured bitterly under her breath though she began to rise from her seat to stretch out her legs. "You're my only sweetheart, luv puppy!" She called out with strained vocal cords as she stretched with a pointed finger to the subject of her statement, the plant under the lamp.

"I need a dog." She grumbled and shook her head at herself. She must be losing it. "And coffee, be back in a sec there. Don't you go doing anything exciting or anything while I'm gone." Rabid strolled out and down the hall to the staffroom, wondering how long it was until her coffeebreak.

Natsube
Natsube wanted to scream. Yet again, an attempt at a coffee break was foiled!

Natsube sadly held out her hand, and Renault placed the papers in her hands. Natsube randomly shuffled through the papers, ignoring Renault and Uennie as she became engrossed in her work.

Uennie
___Uenoh'ai mixed sugar and cream into her coffee. Sniffing it delicately she sighed. Amazing what comes out of such a little bean. Lifting it to her lips her eyes slid to the side to look through her own Laboratory door, examining the plant inside. It seemed so small, so fragile. Just a wee little thing.

___The aroma of the blend once again captivated her nose, and Uennie began to sip slowly. Something flickered out of the corner of her eye. She ignored it and fiercely gulped the fiery brew. Setting the cup down she turned to walk back through the corridor, casting her plant a last glance. She paused, and leaned backwards to do a double take. A small pinkish-yellow bud had formed near the top of her tree.

___The caretaker covered her mouth, trying not to move. Her eyes moved wildly as she stood there in utter shock. A result! A ... a reaction! It grew! It budded! She flew inside of the room and began to take hurrid notes while watching the little tree for any new changes.

Uennie
___The Botanist yawned, squinting an eye at the small plant near the corner of her work-station. She reached her arm out, and just barely flicked the knob, creating a slow flow of water from the faucet. Uennie cupped her small hands and frowned at them, watching through bleary eyes. The water pooled in her out-stretched palms, and she lifted it to carefully clean her face. Delicately she used her nails to clear out the gunky mess from the corners of her eyes.

___Her face dried almost instantly in the cool air flowing through her lab. Dabbing her face with a nearby hand-towel, she examined her nails. Fairly long, not sharp, they had rounded tips. She never went for manicures or anything like that. Some people thought they were fake, since they were so long and strong. No, just one of the many traits she inherited from her father, she would joke. Strong nails and a penchant for spicy foods.

___Straightening out her fingers, she then began to look carefully at the little wrinkles and designs of her entire hand. People always commented on how small her hands were, or that her fingers were stubby. She hated those comments, so she kept her nails relatively long to hopefully create the illusion of having long fingers. Her mother loved her hands, graceful hands. She knew she got those from her mother. Rubbing the towel on the back of her still damp neck she sat down on a stool.

___What was she doing here, so late? She tapped her nails on the counter and sighed, hanging the little towel back where it belonged and looking at the plant again, visibly bored. Do something. She commanded in the back of her mind. The plant defiantly stood completely still. Uenoh'ai groaned and looked down the table at it. Her exhaustion made it seem like the table stretched forever and ever, taunting her by holding the minute tree hostage. Grudgingly she got to her feet, walked a few steps, and picked up the pot. Victorious in conquering the table, she stuck her tongue out at it while basking in the cheers of her inner stadium, and the black-topped table bitterly planned its revenge.

___Her cellphone rang, the basic Nokia tune slicing through her reverie and vibrating in her briefcase. Leaning over, she fished around inside of the pockets before grasping the item and affixing the headset to her ear. Clearing her throat she clicked the green button with her thumb and set the plant down on another table.
___"'Lo." She mumbled with a raspy voice before clearing her throat again and repeating, "Hello?"
___"Where are you? It's almost midnight and you're not home. I tried messaging you online." A soft male voice demanded. Was it an unforgiving or a worried tone? She didn't care anymore.
___"I'm at the Lab. What's up?"
___"Nothing, just ... Wondering if you wanted to fall asleep with me." Mulling the idea around in her brain, she realized that to someone else that would be an extremely sexual term and invitation. However, it was exactly what was said, falling asleep with someone. "Hello? Is that a no?"
___"Sorry, I got caught up in something." She defended herself tiredly.
___"Right." The voice said in a strained tone. Furrowing her eyebrows she got frustrated and took a deep breath through her nose.
___"Yes, okay. I'll be home soon." She snapped angrily.
___"Whatever." He said reproachfully. Uennie didn't bother reading into the rest of his voice. Hurt emotions welled up in her throat.
___"I'll be home. Give me a few minutes. Bye." She heard him respond to her farewell and she hit the glowing red button on her phone.

___Tossing her cellphone back into her briefcase, she zipped it up and snapped the over-flap closed. Sprinkling some fertilizer and water into the terracotta pot, she washed her hands and dried them. In the back of her mind she wondered if she was stalling for time, trying to keep from going back so soon. Slowly pulling the briefcase strap over her shoulder, she dragged herself to the door and turned off the light. Passing her ID Card underneath the scanner, the door closed and an automated voice confimed the lockdown. Uennie rested her head on the cold steel of the door, her cellphone began to vibrate, the ring muffled by the pockets. The young woman bit her lip, and left.

Rabid Jigglypuff
The room was silent save for the quiet scratching of a ballpoint pen as Rabid went about scribbling notes into her daily logs. The flicker of fluorescent lights overhead made her pause, almost a reminder for her of where she was, seeing as she often blocked out all else while working. That was when she actually got herself to do some work, of course. A pile of paper stood out from the otherwise blank slate of her work table, visible out of the corner of her eye. "Gotta do that crap too." She sighed aloud. Her lab station was silent. Too silent. She could only assume everyone else had already called it a day.

"See? I'm so dedicated Sevy. I stay overtime just for you." The tech mumbled to herself before resuming chewing on the cap on her pen, deep in thought.

Uennie
___Uennie covered her mouth, stifling a hiccup slightly. Scraping echoed off the ceiling as she dragged her feet down the hallway. The silence in the laboratory was almost deafening. Where it becomes so quiet, it feels like your head is going to explode at any moment from the pressure. Those were the times you either needed make noise yourself or find someone to make it for you. Unfortunately, the plant didn't even rustle a leaf despite the botanist's mental plea. The plant seemed to look at her almost annoyed. Entertain yourself you brat. The imagined words had pierced Uennie's mind in the lab. You could do it when you were five, you can do it now.

___Stopping in the hallway, she groaned and dragged her fingers down her face, stretching it out before letting go and feeling her face sink back into its normal features. She slumped, pouting and not at all satisfied with the long day she had worked. Nothing had happened, no one cared. It was the same day in and day out. At least in the flower shop she met interesting people, even if some of them were jerks. A mumbling rolled along the walls to greet Uennie's ears. Frowning, she shuffled over to the source and peered through the doorway. Fuschia hair, it was the new researcher. Neat. Uenoh'ai covered her mouth to yawn before walking in.
___"So, fellow co-worker. How goes it in the salt mines?"

Rabid Jigglypuff
Rabid nearly leaped out of her skin when the co-worker entered her lab area with little warning. The tech had been lost in thought again and admittedly falling asleep, one of her greatest talents it seemed. "Huh?" It took a moment for the question to register, the fuschia-haired female removing the pen cap from her teeth and sitting up straight in her chair so as to make herself look a little more presentable. "Ah, well... same as yesturday." She responded unenthusiastically, before adding. "And the day before that. And that. And that one too."

Pausing at her own comical existence, the possibility occurred to her that this other worker could be checking up on her working progress. Not an entirely impossible idea since this 'Uennie' character (She made sure to scope out the others as often as possible. Definetly not below snooping!) had seniority in this place. "I mean uh, the plant is doing well. Even sprouted a bit."

Uennie
___Uennie smiled broadly and looked closer at the plant. She quirked her eyebrows and scratched her chin mockingly. She took a step back and crossed her arms. Stepping forward again she bent lower and poked at the dirt of the plant, giving it a thorough 'inspection'. She charaded a frown, wiggling her eyebrows again before clearing her throat and raising her voice.
___"Very nice miss. However I do believe you have confused a Cannabis plant with your specimen." Uenoh'ai teased cheerfully. Swinging her arms she pulled up a chair and scooted over. "Boring isn't it? I was about to go home soon, we've all been pulling late hours." She scratched the side of her nose for a moment and smiled at the woman. "Enjoying the ride?"

Rabid Jigglypuff
Rabid's expression changed a thousand times as she watched Uennie 'inspect' Sevy, narrowing her eyes behind black shades patricularly when she prodded the potting soil. She spent hard minutes arranging that stuff!

Ok not really, but she felt entitled to glare for the split-second she did.

With the mention if the cannablis plant, she nearly burst into full-out laughter. "Alright I give, you found my stash." She snickered a response after it was apparent Uennie wasn't here to ridicule her lack of results. "Ah, it's not that bad. Let me tell ya, I get my 8 hours of sleep a day." A mischevious smirk as she arched her back for a stretch. "How's Esprit?"

Uennie
___"Oh, you know." Uennie said casually, "Still a plant. Very exciting. Yes, she does this wonderful thing where she soaks up all the water I give her and then demands more. I wonder sometimes, is this how a parent feels?" She laughed and reached into her laboratory coat pocket and pulled out a flat little tin. Popping the lid open she sucked a candy into her mouth and made a face, the shock of the taste making her tear up as it assaulted her taste buds.

___"My dog will be missing me soon. She has dreadful seperation anxiety. Would you like one?" She lifted the tin to Rabid's nose and smiled, cracking the candy between her left back teeth. The pungent taste increased as the concentrated inside shattered and slowly began to melt on her tongue. "Mmmm." Uenoh'ai made a satisfied sucking noise as she wore the candy down in her mouth. "So good, I almost never eat them even though I have them."

Rabid Jigglypuff
"I feel bad taking one then" Rabid smiled and waved a hand to kindly reject her offer, never being one for non-baked sweets. She chuckled lightheartedly at Uennie's cynical summation of her plant's uneventful existence, sympathetic in the feeling. "I'm more of a cat person, though all my animals live outside. I don't really like the dependancy of dogs." Rabid paused for a moment to think about this, the baby covered in soil and the plant that was sitting happily under a heatlamp on the table opposite of the two of them. She was too tired to think of that now.

"What time is it?" She asked, removing her shades for a moment to rub her tired eyes.

Uennie
___Uennie shrugged and closed the tin with her fingers. Sliding it back into her coat she pulled out a small pocketwatch and clicked it open. The hinges swung the little round door open and the intricate face ticked back at her boldly. The hour hand stood firmly to the top right, the minute hand seemd to waver near a halfway point before giving in and going over. The second hand moved cheerfully, undeterred by the seeming feud breathed into these stationary objects.
___"Three Fourty-Five." Uenoh'ai smiled at Rabid. She flicked the door on the watch and pocketed it again. The muscles under her eyes ached, she sensed dark bags would haunt her in the morning. Exhaustion was quickly catching up to her as she stood up and wavered, pushing the chair back to its original position. "I should leave you now. Be sure to turn off all the lights and lock up your lab!" She folded her hands behind her back and smiled before walking out, wiggling her fingers behind her as a small wave. Uennie yawned loudly, not bothering to cover it this time, and she exited the room.

Rabid Jigglypuff
Rabid smiled, shifting her chair backwards as she prepared to set the lab to rest for the night. "Will do!" She called back with as much enthusiasm she could muster for such a late hour. "3:45, if my head didn't throb from lack of sleep I would've thought she meant PM!" She grunted to Sevy as she passed the peaceful sprout, picking him up on the way back to set him in a safe place. "Night Sevy-poo!" A few spritzes of water before she left, snatching up her things and locking up.

Uennie
___Uennie smiled as she heard the researcher leave her lab. She worked hard. Determined, and fairly amusing. She most definetly liked her. Her plant emanated a sort of, sarcastic glow if that were possible. She predicted there would be many mishaps and cases of mayhem when the plant fully bloomed. Uenoh'ai looked forward to it eagerly. Gingerly, she touched her own laboratory door and pushed it open, the little flower in the middle of the room blooming under a steady light. Solitary, even though surrounded by other plants. Seperated by a little pot. To be contained, without your say or control of the sitation. If this plant could feel, and think, what was going on in its subconcious? Uennie frowned, it must detest her. She kept it in that little pot, she was the jailkeeper with the key.

___She sighed, folding her hands behind her back once more. Mouth pursed, she sighed again through her nostrils. Her eyes hurt, they begged for rest and sleep. Uennie stood there, in her mind telling herself to leave but almost being too tired and lazy to actually move her feet to do it. After several minutes, she walked forward and gently flipped off the little light. The doorway glowed, giving off the only light left in the entire laboratory from the hallway. Picking up her belongings, Uenoh'ai leaned down and softly brushed her lips on the petals. "Good night." She smiled, walking to the door, and activating the lockdown function. The hallway stretched far down towards the door. When her trek had finally finished, the laboratory began its automatic shutdown, and was silent.

Uennie
___Her dog pranced around her feet happily as she stepped through the doorway. Sitting herself down right in front of Uennie, the puppy began to expressively move her ears as she let out a series of yelps, barks, and whimpers. The young woman tried to edge in further when the dog scooted over to block her way again, giving her an, "I'm not done telling you about my day!" look. Uenoh'ai smiled and set her things down on the side-table in the entrance hallway. Crouching down she wrapped her arms around the thirty-pound puppy she picked her up and held her with one arm, much like you would when burping a baby. Reaching over with her other arm she flipped the lock on her briefcase and pulled out a folder. Her dog set her head on Uennie's shoulder and licked her cheek gently, the human smiled and kissed the dog on the nose, receiving another lick in return. Feeling happy, she dropped the file on the kitchen counter.

___Twirling around Uennie smiled as she felt her dog wiggle excitedly in her arms. Inching towards the couch the woman gently dropped the canine onto it, and the dog looked up at her adoringly as she settled her medium frame on it. Flipping the controller into her hand the researcher hit a button and watched as her stereo began to blink and load. Matisyahu, a very new and interesting reggae band, sung by a young Jewish boy. Uenoh'ai was into it. She bent her knees and began to sway, moving her arms, skanking her way across the room. She smiled as her dog bounded down and began jumping around her. Uenoh'ai switched her hips and hit another button, sending the track to another CD featuring Jamiroquai. Placing her hands on her hips Uennie began to make her way across the living room floor. She worked her shoulders back and forth as she rocked and soon began pointing her right hand out and working her hips as she turned slowly around the room. Her mouth curled into a half-grin as she mouthed the words, You know this boogie is for real.
___She laughed and clapped her hands, switching from hip to hip again and turning around. The dog pranced excitedly and jumped up on her human, who in turn grasped her paws and began to dance with her dog happily. Barking wildly the dog pulled away and began to hop happily. Uennie pointed her thumbs out and began to jerk them outwards, moving her body with the beat and laughing.

___The song began to slow down as it moved into Lauryn Hill. You're just too good to be true, can't take my eyes off of you. Uennie mouthed the words and closed her words before belting it out in a thick alto.
___"I need you baby, if it's quite all right. I need you baby, to warm the lonely nights. I love you baby. Trust in me when I say okay ..." Uenoh'ai smiled as she thought of her own baby, and how it felt when they were together.
___"Oh pretty baby, don't let me down I pray. Oh pretty baby, now that I've found you, stay. And let me love you, oh baby let me love you, oh baby ..." She ran her hand down her cheek and smiled softly, remembering every intricacy of his hands. Her hips moved methodically and proudly, reaching her hands out to touch the memory of his chest. The song faded out and she smiled softly, standing there in the middle of the room. Suddenly her abdomen felt very empty, and lonely. She bit her lip and set her arms akimbo, turning to face the little puppy that was whining and licking her toes.
___"Alright sweetheart ... Let's get you something to eat."

Uennie
___An announcement boomed over the speakers of the laboratory building. All researchers and developers were to come to the main hall immediately. The swarm of people walking through the hallways to congregate made steady noises, until the rush of clicks filled the laboratories. A low murmur was heard steadily building into the excited rush fluttering among the speakers. Queries of what it was, if things were going on. Some attendants had brought their specimens and held them in tight arms. Was someone going to be taken away? Finally everyone congregated in the hallway, until the announcer told them to file into the large social room. Everyone was quiet now, taking their seats with a nervous feeling in each of their stomaches. At the very front there was a podium set up, Assistant Natsube was no where to be seen, and the researchers whispered anxiously.

___Researcher Uenoh'ai stood up from her chair and walked to the platform, holding her posture straight and delicately gripping the sides of the stand. The anxious whispers had gradually turned into frantic chattering, and the room was booming with titters and questions. Researcher Rabid was sitting near the front, her fruiting pot in her lap. Khomi was somewhere nearby, and Logan was not there at all. Uennie checked her watch and wrote something down in a file. The people who noticed her felt as though she was waiting for something, good or bad? Gradually the silence grew from few to all, as they all resumed their seats and looked up at the person at the front of the room solemnly. Uennie smiled at them and continued to check her watch casually. A feeling of relief settled like a cool rain upon the audience, everything seemed well and in-hand.

___Renault walked into the room, looking very calm as opposed to his normal cheer and clumsiness. As he walked through the aisles, everyone fell quiet. He was the highest researcher in rank besides Natsube and the legendary Dr. Gaia. Uenoh'ai smiled at her higher officer and held her hands out to his, shaking it gently. Apprentice Natsube stepped out from a back room and took a seat behind the podium, smiling and waving at the many people there. Renault took his seat next to Natsube and she reached over, and took his hand reassuringly. Turning back to the front, Uennie cleared her throat and began to speak.
___"As we all know, Renault has been a treasured part of our research and staff for a very long time, since the beginning of the Vale. He has helped us with excellent upkeep and to always remember to smile about the importance and brilliance of our work. We have all become familiar with his specimen Mara, and her lovely zest for life-"
___As she said this, little Mara was led in by a man in a gas suit by the hand. Closely following behind was Eden, the first Vale specimen, though not very old and appearing to be younger than Mara. The people in their seats shifted uncomfortably. Why was that man in the suit? They looked at little Mara's face and some of the women burst into tears at her forlorn look. Eden seemed delightfully unawares as to what was going on, and he even began to skip slightly. Undaunted, Uenoh'ai continued her speech.
___"Renault has decided to take leave from us, and in doing so, Mara will now technically be homeless. As is typical of all Vale specimens when they do not have enough affection or care in their life, they wither, and these children die. This brings me to why Eden is also here, and it is obvious."

___The man led Mara and Eden into a glass chamber. He seemed to've told them to hold hands and step up into a tube just big enough for the both of them. Eden didn't seem to understand, but things had been explained to Mara and she smiled very bravely as she held Eden and walked in. The man in the suit reached into the tube and pulled down two respirator attachments, gently placing them onto Mara and Eden's mouths. The front to the tube zoomed closed and everyone watched as Mara comforted Eden gently.
___"Renault's pass will be deactivated immediately, and he will never be able to access his laboratory again. He is though, welcome back at the lab to visit at any time, so please feel free to say hello and smile as always." Uennie's voice seemed strained as she tried to keep her eyes off of the children. They heard Eden begin to cry, he didn't like his tube. No one could really blame him. Everyone held their specimens closer as they watched.
___"This is what happens when you leave the Vale, or neglect yours. They die, they are not little tools or items you can leave unattended. They are just like children and need loving and nuturing. No amount of fertilizer can revive them. We have developed a system which will allow us to preserve them so they do not die. This is a state of comatose, they will be completely unconcious and unaware of their surroundings. Failure to attend to this immediately will result in your specimen being revoked with no questions asked. Renault, your pass please." She held her hand out to him. He reached into his pocket and gently passed it to her. Inserting it into a small device a swipe went past it and a laser quickly flashed on the barcode. Uenoh'ai handed it back to him as she smiled at him and turned to the front, again.

___A nod from Uennie told the man to begin. Eden became frantic as a titian-coloured substance began to fill up the tube. It rose slowly, until it enveloped their bodies and they began to float. Mara held onto him, and he appeared to become very sleepy. Very soon Mara began rubbing her eyes until they both curled up with each other and fell asleep. The man pressed a button and a large flash enveloped them. When it disappeared and the spots began to fade away, he removed the capsule from the glass cubicle and gently pushed it into a hollow opening in the wall until it locked in place. Everything was still, you couldn't even see if they were breathing anymore. Suddenly an automated hole in the ground opened and the pod was rushed down underground, carrying the two specimens with it.
___"Please use this experience you have witnessed as a warning and guideline from henceforth on." Uennie said softly. Renault stood up and hugged Natsube and Uenoh'ai briefly before going down the steps of the platform. Researchers stood up and shook his hand, wishing him farewell and good luck. He left the room and went to the elevator exit. Everything was quiet, and the minute sound of him typing in his final code was heard, and the boom of bars and doorways closing in his faraway laboratory faded into the room. The doors to the elevator opened and his footsteps tapped slowly in.
___"Good-bye, Researcher Renault." The automated voice echoed, and he was gone.

___"... A low hum filled her chest, as she turned her head and nuzzled into the soft scented sandalwood. Heavy dark eyelashes fluttered on her cheek as she opened her mouth to produce a deep transcendent voice. The Tauur woman smiled as her voice soared higher through the thin air of the Ephesan mountainrange. Symbols glowed golden, pulsing steadily and slowly began to reach tendrils from the sandalwood to wrap around her arching body. Her head tilted back as her throat turned into a bronzed pillar, long lustrous notes pouring from white teeth, gleaming against dark lips.

___Remedy moved her voice up and down echoing a call as she extended and twisted her fingers, smiling and dancing with her arms. She laughed as the notes hung in the air, echoing from the buildings and swirling around her head. Slowly she slid her feet out of her window and braced them firmly on the metal view outside. Silvery music echoed in her head, amplified outside by the combined spells hovering in Remedy's room, spilling into the cold night air. She danced and sang, dipping and swirling beneath the moon. Remedy could almost smell the sweet tang of salt in the air, coconuts and gardenias smeared in a lusty oil on darkened skin.

___The Tauur could almost reach with her entwining arms, almost feel her home pounding deep inside of her abdomen. Music from memories throbbed inside of her head, long dark hair that looked to be smeared with rouge and gold tumbling out of braids. Her lithe muscular body ached and she let out a sensual cry, the song carrying higher than the rest of the music seemingly being played out of nothing. People approached beneath her view and looked out from their doors and windows, watching the curvaceous dance of the Tauur and hearing the music pouring from her heart.

___A sudden blast of pure soprano shocked through Remedy's full voice. She stopped and stood on the metal balcony, the music falling away with haste. The warm pulses quivered in the air for a moment before swirling into themselves and disappearing. As sudden as a ruler dismisses a servent, the crowds immediately dispersed, leaving a chilly wind to race through the street. Remedy quirked a playful eyebrow and rested her hands firmly on round wide hips. The Tauur wiggled her nose and smiled, snuffling the air a bit and casting her magick into the area around her.

___"Come out." She called in a sinfully lilting voice. "Come out to me ..."

___Remedy grinned through her husky breath. Something tugged and nudged at the back of her brain insistently. She flicked her wrist and a sudden flare went off and vanished against a dark corner of wall, success, she had found 'it'. The woman smiled and tilted her head, crooking her finger to motion whatever was in the shadows to come over. Remedy sighed and dusted off her skirts, before bustling inside her small apartment loft to place a blue porcelain kettle on the stove ..."

___Uennie gently closed her book and sighed as she laid on the wrinkled leather couch. She shifted gently, tapping her fingertips on the cover slowly. She started to set the book down on the carpet, but remembered that her dog just loved to chew. She quickly changed the book's destination to the stand next to her. It was raining again, the wind was blowing mercilessly and banging at the doors. She looked at the wall, a frown so heavy she could feel it weighing on her face. She wasn't really trying to frown, and she wasn't upset because she didn't feel anything at the moment. Her eyelids drooped, out of boredom not tiredness, and she sighed and looked down. Her little dog wagged her tail happily, oblivious to the lack of emotion her owner was currently feeling. Slowly, Uenoh'ai felt the corners of her mouth turn up, and the stress melted away. It didn't hurt so much to sit up straight anymore, and her sagging shoulders moved up to make room for the canine now taking over her abdomen. She leaned close and kissed the dog right on her wet nose before holding her tight. She didn't know if she was sad, just then, but whatever it was, she was just so happy right now.

Uennie
___Uenoh'ai walked slowly through the Laboratory, holding her ID Card beneath the several laser locks to open her desired doorways. She checked her watch and held her hands in front of herself. Her foot tapped methodically and she watched the tiles. Some had chipped slightly, and were becoming worn from the constant wear of people's strolls. As the approval ring sounded she reached forward and hit a glowing button. The whirring of working mechanics echoed in the lonely room and she waited for the elevator to veer into place. Far away in the back of her mind she heard a piano start to play. The cold steel doors opened and she stepped in. The temperature dropped immensely as they closed again, and she slid her sunglasses up on top of her head as the elevator shot down the shaft. She stood there in silence, watching her breath materialize in front of her before vanishing into the cold. A fluorescent light lit up above her head, and the doors opened. She took a step down and steadied herself on a nearby rail.

___She hated stairs, more than anything. She'd fallen down so many as a child that she had a slight phobia about them. The memory of her shins banged up and lacking a dermis made her shudder horribly. Out of all her body her legs and hands had suffered the most damage. She thanked her clumsiness and the constant issues of being thrown or scraped off of horses for the many scars. Her heels hit the metal stairs with a resounding clarity. As she slowly made her way down the single flight, she sighed with relief as she reached the ground. Her heart always slammed into her stomach when she was at the last step, as if something could go terribly wrong on that last reach down. It was silly, but something she had dealt with for a long time so it didn't exactly bother her, or not so much anymore. She made a face and steadied herself again, before walking swiftly to a control panel. The platform she was on shook, and she widened her arms to steady her body. She had forgotten that if she moved too fast the cables would break and send the entire area down into the second basement. She inched her way over to the panel and began to type, sending her fingers dancing over the keys.

___The plasma flickered and glowed a bright white before settling into the usual processing screen. She hit the enter key and a noise was heard down below, and the loud grinding of a capsule behing pushed up to the platform edge was heard. A countdown voice sounded in a monotonous baritone. The capsule door opened and two very confused Vale appeared. Reaching her hand out Uennie grasped Eden's palm and gently helped him step down. Mara looked at her with hopeful eyes and reached her hand out too, but Uennie shook her head sadly and leaned close to kiss her on the forehead gently. Mara bit her lip and nodded, pulling her hand back down to her side. Uenoh'ai sighed softly and closed the capsule door again. She reached over and hit another key, and watched as the liquid began to fill the capsule and Mara fell asleep again. With another click the machine removed the pod and rushed it back down into the freezing temperatures. The Researcher entered a code into the computer and gently picked the groggy Eden up in her arms. She carried him slowly up the stairs, checking her balance every few steps. When she reached the elevator she waved her ID Card under the scanner and initiated the lockdown.

___The low booming voice of the computer bid her farewell, and she held Eden in her arms as the doors closed around her again. He started to shiver, and she knew she couldn't blame him. She held him as close as possible and felt the elevator shake before shooting up the shaft again. She quietly thought of Mara, and began to wonder what to do with her. She paused for a moment and watched the elevator open, her head losing its dizzy feeling from the fast ride up. Mara needed a home, she couldn't stand seeing a look so sad on the face of any child, specimen or not. In the back of her mind she began to organize a way to find Mara a new Researcher. She headed into her office and wrapped Eden up in a blanket. Picking up her phone she hit the option for announcement and spoke into the mouthpiece loudly.
___"Eden has been cleared for pick-up. You will find him in my office adjacent to Laboratory Three." She set the phone down on the receiver with a clack but then picked it up again. "Also, congratulations to Kyocho and Alinedra. You have passed into Rank 2 and become our new Greenhouse Helpers!"
___Uennie set the phone down again and pulled her sunglasses back over her eyes, the adjustment from almost complete dark to light taking its toll. Eden made a soft noise and she reached into her bag lunch and handed him her thermos of soup. He sipped it delicately and she smiled and ruffled his hair affectionately, waiting for his Researcher to come pick him up.

Logan
Logan walked hurrily outside into Laboratory as heard Uenoh'ai's announcement regarding about my son, Eden. He was so worried about his son, Eden who was taken away from me without reasons at all. He walked up to the front desk to see Dr. Uenoh'ai then waved at her and panting too fast for moment from walking too fast. "H-hello Dr. Uenoh'ai," he replied after take few long breath, "I am so sorry for being late to pick up my son, Eden." He feel so relieved and excited to see his son again after he was taken away and havent seen him for few weeks.

He looks down and notices the red sheets that covered Eden up to keep him warm after got out from pod that he was stored in after he was taken away from me few weeks ago then he kneels down and tap his shoulder to suprise him with my biggest smile and tears rolling down on my cheek. Eden perked up and looks at the person who tapped me to seek him and he looked at Logan's eyes and recoginze me immediately then leaped on me and hugs tightly. His tears rolling down on his cheek too and yelled,
"Mommy! I misses you so much and I was so scared when I taken away from you and I feel so lonely in strange pod that sweet lady stored me in and took me out.." I replied, "I know, I am so sorry that I couldn't do anything to get you back, Eden. I had to talk to Dr. Amelia, Uenoh'ai, and Natsube regarding about releasing you.. I am so happy that they decide to let me have you back in my arms again, honey." Logan hugs Eden tightly and stands up to carry Eden up in my arms and never lets him go ever again.

He walked up to Uenoh'ai and bows as thank you gesture and smiles at her with his tears still rolling on his cheek slightly. "Thank you, Uenoh'ai.. I am so happy to see my son, Eden.. I was so terribly worried about him but I know he is under your great care and I wish I can do anything in return for your kindess." He looked at Eden and kisses on his forehead then look back at her. "Oh! I better go now because Xavier is waiting for me too long and he didn't know about our son, so I better go now and suprise him about our Eden." He giggled and turns around then began to walk out of Laboratory with Eden in his arms and said goodbye to her. "Goodbye and we will come and visit sometimes to see how others are doing!" He walked up to Xavier with Eden in his arms while out of door.

Uennie
___Uenoh'ai smiled as she watched Logan escort Eden home. Eden was secure now, forever. He would never be alone again. She checked her paperwork and pulled out a large stamp, wetting it on an ink pad she went through Eden's files and placed the stamp's mark in certain areas. Approved. She thought, as she firmly pressed the corresponding rubber detail on the papers. Uennie straightened up her papers and opened up a cabinet, tucking them into the back for safekeeping. Reaching over she closed up her thermos and gently slid it back into the paper bag, folding it over methodically. She entwined her fingers and sat there at her desk, feeling accomplished over the day's work. It started out so dreary, but in the end there are endings to be had, and most are not so unhappy.

___Her mind turned again to the thought of the young Mango-based girl still in comatose custody. She reached into her files and pulled out a thick report on Mara, the second specimen after Eden to come into existence. While perusing over the data, she wondered if there was some way in the future to find someone suitable enough to care for the specimen. Mara was obviously very special, and in need for someone who knew something about advanced botanical research. Uenoh'ai sighed, she would have to find someone to fill out the right requirements. The Researcher leaned back in her chair and tapped her pen on the side of the desk. An exibition? She thought slowly. We could have an exhibition ... Any scientific minds out there or undiscovered here in the Vale could come forward and prove their academic minds. She nodded her head and wrote the notes down in a calendar. Soon then ...

Rabid Jigglypuff
The laboratory was barely lit by the dim glow of a desk lamp at the far end of the room. The labtech was apparently working overtime tonight, catching up for work she failed to finish before the scheduled completion date. She had left the room momentarily, abandoning a particularly-lengthy report left scattered across the work station.

The subject of study was sitting happily in the center work table, appearing dormant and motionless in his terracotta pot. That is, until the outer leaves of the venus flytrap began to stir as if an invisible breeze passed through the room and disrupted the delicate plant. The whole room seemed to shift into a weird sort of aura, a dramatic change occurring rapidly.

Rabid was returning from a smoke break, entering her lab in a distracted manner. She heard a gurgle but didn't even realize at first as she whistled and strolled to her awaiting paperwork. The 'change' that had apparently occurred would have almost gone completely unnoticed if she hadn't heard a distinct 'giggle' that was very prominant in the quiet laboratory.

The fuschia-haired woman stiffened, almost afraid to turn her head. What... the hell... She almost collapsed right there and then, heart threatening to burst right out of her chest. There were eyes staring back at her, two little eyes and the widest grin plastered on a moss-coloured complexion of chubby cheeks. A mass of yellow-tinged dreadlocks in a messy pile that complimented the round, pudgy form.

Her first thought? Someone left their kid in here... That idea was short-lived when the reality sunk in. It looked so familiar, like she'd seen it before in some alternate life. The green palor, the absolute delight of his expression made her almost fall in love with the infant instantaneously. Her voice was choked and caught in her throat though she fought to produce one word. "...S-....Sev...y?"

Uennie
___Uennie bounced her baby on her knee gently, somehow managing to file papers, but only barely. She sighed and put Esprit over her shoulder, patting her on the back and rocking back and forth, somehow praying that would quell her cries of unhappiness. Finally she gave up and in frustration she threw her pen on the laboratory counter. The sound of cloth moving in still air and tiny footsteps tapped across the linoleum.
___"Babies don't like being neglected you know." The small faerie seated herself matter-of-factly on the edge of the table. She looked up at the human with an intense glare and bit her thumb, considering what to say next.
___"Oh shut up, Ixchel." Uenoh'ai snapped, letting out a groan as the little baby girl cried louder. She fought back the urge to shake the child and felt guilty about even considering it. "I'm not trying to neglect her. I'm trying to get my research done ..." The Researcher bit a quivering lip and snorted, gripping the pen again angrily and mashing it against the paper.
___"Hey! Watch it you moron!" The winged creature admonished, growing steadilier impatient. Uennie's frustration peaked and she added more pressure to the utensil. The pen cracked and suddenly the ink well broke, sending horrible marks across the paper to stain.
___"Hey yourself. Your name is Ixchel, so-called goddess of maternity. Help me out for Christ's sake!" The faerie stuck her nose in the air and walked away from the demanding botanist.
___"Many mothers have managed fine before you."
___"But she's not even my child!" The woman practically screamed, suddenly she realized that the baby was quiet, and looked down at her quickly. Esprit had stopped crying, but Uennie's heart plummeted at the expression on the baby's face.
___"She is your child. I reccomend making that clear to yourself before you make yet another child in the world feel unwanted." Ixchel sniffed derisively before disappearing into the flora. Uenoh'ai watched the little pudgy face, feeling her stomach sink lower and lower into her abdomen. She bit her lip, opening her arms wider and holding Esprit closer.
___"I'm sorry ... I'm sorry ..." Uennie whispered slowly. What a horrible thing to say, what a hurtful thing to say. She gently kissed Esprit on the forehead and the baby's face relaxed, seeming to say, I forgive you. The flower-topped child turned her head as she heard a corresponding noise, not unlike her own. Uenoh'ai stood up and cradled her in her bosom delicately, heading down the hallway, growing more curious with every step. "Hello?" She called, half-expecting a monster to jump out and half-expecting plain silence.

Rabid Jigglypuff
THe door to Rabid's lab was wide open, remnants of her frightened bolt into the hallway that had occurred early though short-lived, to see if anyone else was around. She was still in panic mode, though from what she could tell the chubby baby still sitting happily on the table was enjoying the frantic movements of his caretaker. Mother. She chastised herself mentally, trying to accept the fact that this litte.... BIG bundle of joy was her child to care for from now on.

Pacing irratically back and forth, she couldn't believe she was trying to think of people who could somehow remove this burden from her. She never signed for this, her resume never stated "qualified mother" under useful skills. She wasn't mother material. In short, Rabid had as much estrogen coursing through her veins as she had change in her pocket. "This... isn't happening." She whimpered, Sevy letting out a bubbly giggle as he wriggled his toes. Exasperated, she stopped pacing and approached the table to give him a good look. Satisfied that he was real, she braced her arms against the edge as she let her head hang. "My gods..."

Uennie
___Uenoh'ai felt her baby start to wriggle and tightened her hold, trying hard not to drop her. The baby let out a cry and in a panic Uennie loosened her hold, realized that she was hurting her. She stopped to adjust the child and nervously continued walking. A dim light flickered from a Laboratory down the walkway. Uennie recognized it, Rabid's Laboratory. Quietly she stepped into the doorway and looked around. She was caught off-guard as Esprit smacked her little hand right on Uennie's forehead. Seeing stars for a moment she steadied herself and turned her head to the side to cough, covering her mouth with her fist. Esprit giggled and grabbed the woman's face with a hand on each cheek. Kissing her on the nose she cupped the baby's head in her hand and walked further into the Lab.
___"Rabid?"

Rabid Jigglypuff
Rabid inhaled sharply as she turned her head to glance over her shoulder, almost as if to stiffle a sob though no tears were present. What the hell am I going to do? Was all she could think of over and over. She was shaking from anxiety, stomach churning as she found herself in the presence of the senior worker. Immediately feeling embarassed, she straightened herself and leaned the small of her back against the table to the side of Sevy, so that the boy was clearly visible to the visitor. "....Hey... Uennie." She managed to respond, attempting to calm her nerves.

It was then that she noticed the infant in her arms. "Esprit?" She felt stupid to ask. Of course it was her, it had to be. Though she was surprised she'd remembered the "subject"'s name in the first place. Rabid smoothed back a couple of stray dreadlocks, making herself more presentable and less of a wreck.

Uennie
___The Researcher offered Rabid a warm smile and walked over to the table. She gently sat Esprit down next to him, grateful to have the weight off of her arms. She clapped her hands, brushing them off at the same time and crossed her arms, leaning back against the counter. Esprit wiggled slightly and immediately tried to put her hands on Sevy's face. Uennie batted her hand away as she admonished the baby gently. The child ignored her and began to poke and prod at the other infant. Uenoh'ai sighed and looked over at Rabid,
___"You too?" She turned to look at Sevy. She just adored chubby babies. "Hello little Buddha Baby ..." She cooed at him adoringly.

Rabid Jigglypuff
Rabid sighed wearily and nodded, not knowing what to say. This wasn't like pregnancy. You get a head's up when you're pregrant, nine months to be exact. Seeing how relaxed and accepting Uennie was with the situation just made it that more bizzarre. "I..." She stopped and shook her head, for once looking serious and vulnerable. "This is way above my head." She laughed nervously, glancing over at new baby boy.

Sevy grinned wider as he saw Uennie's form in the doorway, gurgling happily as his eyes watched her approach. His attention immediately turned to the little thing that was abruptly placed next to him, in awe of her similarity and curious to know what exactly she was. When Esprit began prodding him however, his happy exterior shifted dramatically to be replaced with a very bitter temper. "BAAAAH!" He whined and screeched, gripping her wrists to pry her hands away from him in a mini tantrum.

"No no!" Rabid quickly flinched, removing his chubby fingers from their grip on the little girl. "Play nice..." She unconsciously began before it dawned on her that he was.. naked. "Oh gods." She blurted out again and rushed off to a desk, rummaging through the drawers before dashing to a nearby coat hanger. Snatching up a labcoat, she returned to wrap it around the greenish child.

Uennie
___"God I concur." Uennie slumped unhappily. "This whole thing is driving me damn near crazy. I mean ... I knew ... I figured ..." She trailed, not wanting to admit her ignorance to the obvious. She stomped her foot and bit her lip, punctuating her lack of glee at the situation. "I do ... I care for her." She looked over at the child who was tentatively venturing to touch Sevy's toes. She smiled, a crooked half-grin goofily taking up part of her face. She had to ask herself, who couldn't? "I'm just not ready. I thought it would be at least a year beforehand ..."
___Picking the infant up she patted her pockets, searching for something, anything, to wrap around her. She found a paper towel scrunched up in her pocket. Thankfully clean, she smoothed it out and created a makeshift loincloth, using tape she snapped from a dispenser nearby to secure it.

Rabid Jigglypuff
Rabid groaned in response, agreeing with everything she was saying. At least she knew there was someone else going through this now, that offered a bit of comfort. "I mean... he eats right? They eat? They're like regular babies? GODS, what do I feed a venus flytrap kid? Flies? That's sick!" The lab tech rubbed her forehead, clenching her jaw as a whine escaped.

Now that the threat had been removed, Sevy looked mighty content again, reaching his arms down into the bunched fabric of the labcoat and pulling it up above his head. This amused him greatly, and soon he was giggling and weakly batting at the fabric until he managed to pull it over his head. He then turned to his 'mother', head tilted back in an attempt to see her although his view was clearly hindered.

"I guess I'll be peicing together a crib tomorrow." She muttered and winced at the oncoming labor. Glancing over at the baby boy, she laughed and tickled his bellybutton. Uennie was right. Even though this was a huge kicker, she already couldn't imagine abandoning the little boy. It helped that he seemed to be a very happy baby.

Uennie
___It had been ages since she'd smiled, laughed, danced whole-heartedly. Her arms extended happily as she moved her hips at the same time she rotated her forearms. Nearly half a year since the worst breakup she'd ever faced, and she had never felt happier. The angst and pain echoed itself away as she confronted each issue one by one. She shifted her weight from foot to foot, and felt an invisible camera circling her. The Researcher whipped her head back and moved to the seventies playing on her stereo system. Was there any particular reason for her dancing? No, not really. She was just dancing. She opened her mouth wide in a smile and a whoop of glee, echoing words shouted from the classic singers. That horrible past, the final confrontation of confessions with her mother, the willingness to move on, and finally, the experience of the most thrilling physical activities she'd never even imagined.

___She smiled as a song by the everlasting Tupac came on her radio, and sliding over to her closet she snatched an ironed shirt from her closet and slid her arms into the holes one by one. Moving her hips she buttoned the blouse as she walked towards her reflection in the mirror. Nodding her head she moved her shoulders and rotated her hips as she snapped her skirt around her waist.
___"When I walked by I said, 'Hi', but you was so shy, I can't lie, damn near stuttered when you walked by." Uenoh'ai smiled and worked her way over to her door and grabbed her lab coat and shrugged it up on her shoulders beat by beat. The woman spun into her bathroom, yanking her hair up on her head, fixing it in a messy bun and not even close to giving a damn about how it turned out. She stepped into her heels and grabbed the large briefcase leaning on her bedroom door, the music blasting from wall speaker to speaker as she made her way to the kitchen.

___The rich coffee smell blasted in hot steam from the percolator, and she watched the ground beans sifting and mixing, making a mocha coloured swirl in her pot. The music running high in her brain she bit her bottom lip and focused on the intense browns taking shape, reminding her of her new favourite skin colour. She shivered and flipped through a magazine, humming along and tapping her fingers on the counter. She mis-read a column and let out a soft happy cry, deliriously seeing the word Papi instead of the designated Padre. Re-reading it, she realized her mistake and laughed, pouring the aromatic brew into a mug and stirring in a cube of sugar. She dug out the heavy chilled cream in the back of the refrigerator and watched it pour thickly into the Columbian water with long, dark, quivering eyelashes.

___The anticipation from the night before left her anticipating the next time, and the next. The absolute freedom, and buildup of emotion made her shake with happiness. The hot liquid flowed past her anticipating tongue and washed down her esophagus. It filled her stomach and executed a warmth emanating throughout her veins, complimenting the heat pulsing in her nerves from her heady emotional intoxication from the night before. In her lost thoughts the coffee disappeared from her cup quickly, and it was dropped into the stainless metal sink to soak.
___"Throwin' 'bout thirty stacks in the back, make it rain like that 'cause I'm far from a scrub. You know my pedigree, ex-dealer used to move 'phetamines. Girl, I spend money like it don't mean nothin', and besides I got a thing for you." She sighed the words with a smile, the new song catching her interest. The new day dug the idea of having to go to work into her brain like a spike, but the sooner she went, the sooner she could come home. With that comforting thought, she kissed her pup farewell and skipped out the door with a groove in her step.

Greenhouse RP: April 28th "The Darwin Wing Revealed"

Uennie
___The Assistant yawned, she touched the cold metal of the nearby railing, pressing fingerprints into it. Removing the fingers quickly, she delicately placed them upon her forehead, trying to absorb the cool temperature quickly. Her shoes clicked upon the linoleum, making her way slowly through the hallways. The Vale seemed different now. Time seemed almost to flow nonexistent through its veins. It had slowly grown, with her integrity intact. This was truly one of her greatest achievements. The simplicity of the Laboratory, and the complexities of what lay within. It was a myriad of labyrinths from one Observer to another, whispers of what may come greeted her ears, and she'd smile with gentle pride. Whether some people knew it or not, the secrets of the Vale were probably more intricate than any others they would ever hear. How lucky these few Observers were, to be allowed entry into this sacred establishment.

___Uenoh'ai moved along the floor slowly, walking down flights of stairs that still made her heart skip a beat. It had taken over a month of careful consideration and review of resumes before she'd finally been able to make a choice. So many candidates for the role of Zoology head, so many with good stable backgrounds. It was hard, the idea of turning down so many others and only allowing one admittance to the hallowed halls of the Vale's domain. She tucked her legs under her as she sat upon a bench by the fountain in the middle of the Laboratories. The one remaining manila folder, with letters scrawled across the small tab in the Assistant's unruly handwriting. The lucky one, who would oversee almost any odd creature that came through.

___Her eyes trailed to Laboratory Sixteen. It was time to alert the new recruit. She stood up in a fluid motion, and suddenly decided to see how fast she could get there. Before she knew it, her excitement at the childish challenge had carried her across the tiles and up the stairs, laughing a little to herself and racing around the hair-pin turns. When she got to the top, she smiled, the small bit of adrenaline cheering her generally tired expression. Remembering her decorum, she smoothed her hair back and calmed her breathing, still walking ever closer to the Laboratory.

___She had arrived, and knocking on the door she gently turned the knob and opened it. Uennie smiled, and nodded gracefully to the blossoming Tulip Specimen. The young woman stepped inside and smoothed her spotless coat, turning to the scientist inside.
___"Observer Kitten, may I have a word?"

kitten
It had started off as the most ordinary of days, the alarm startling Kitten out of her slumber and the groggy woman shuffling through her room to rouse Seveda from her own sleep. There was breakfast to be made and research to conduct. One couldn't hope to just lounge about like a slug all day! As usual, showers allowed both women to wake into a far more alert state than the 'just rolled outta bed feeling' but the hot toast and bacon were what really got them talking. Kitten took to the task of informing Seveda about the chores she needed to do while the teen just rolled her eyes and nodded. Cleaning wasn't something Seveda really felt like doing today, but she was running low on her romance novels, so she might as well not rush through them.

Neither of them could have suspected what was hurrying towards their little laboratory on such a lovely day. Kitten had long since forgotten about the application she'd sent in for the Zoology position that had opened up soon after her acceptance into the Vale. Not to say that she didn't think herself worthy of the position, but she readily assumed that there were just more qualified people for the job, especially more qualified people that had been around longer. New people just didn't have the time to build up a reputation for things like this, especially when their Vale went around drenching Researchers.

At the knock of the door both women turned to open it, only to find that it was already being opened by the most surprising figure. Kitten couldn't remember if she had ever seen the assstant before, but she was sure she'd seen a picture somewhere and she knew that the woman coming into her lab was either very, very good or very, very bad. Seveda's cheeks lit into a light blush as Uenoh'ai greeted her first and she returned the silent nod. A blush was not what was appearing on Kitten's cheeks when the assistant turned to her. Cheeks paled at the request and she nodded, "Of course, what can I do for you mam?" Kitten didn't think it was too much of a coincidence that Uenoh'ai was showing up in her lab so soon after Seveda's attack on Kyocho.

Uennie
___The Assistant held the folder to her torso and offered the young Observer a warm smile. With her other hand she made a graceful upward sweep with her hand, gesturing for the woman to stand. She opened the doorway wider and stepped to the side of it, allowing room for the scientist to walk past. The young Tulip specimen suddenly registered in her mind. It was the teenaged creature she'd recently brought out of comatose. She wondered faintly, if the child remembered her?
___"May we walk together, for a moment?" Uenoh'ai raised her voice slightly to be heard. The resume weighed in her hand, she wondered for a moment if she was sure this was right. Did they really need another high-ranking Researcher. The negative thoughts evaporated quickly, as she admonished herself mentally. Yes, they did. It was vital to what would happen soon. Better to prepare now than be caught unawares later. Organization and planning ahead was her bread and butter.

kitten
Kitten paled even more at the woman's words and she nodded silently as she pushed herself up and away from the table she'd been working at; and today had been looking as if to promise to be quite relaxing. Noting Uenoh'ai's gestures to move through the door, Kitten turned to Seveda and told her quietly that she would be back soon and that Seveda should be a good girl and read while Kitten was gone.

Seveda only nodded as she watched quietly; Kitten almost never looked so anxious and her mother's pale cheeks were making the teen ever more nervous. Just before Kitten had left the lab however, Seveda looked once more at the assistant and something in the back of her mind tickled at her. "Mama, mama. She's really nice, I know, I remember," she said with a smile in Uenoh'ai's direction before slipping away into another room to find the book she wanted to read. The girl couldn't really remember the older woman to the fullest, but she got a feeling of protection when she looked at her.

The woman attempted to look relieved for her child, but her heart was still racing. "Uhm, if this is about Seveda attacking Researcher Kyocho or the pots that were broken in the greenhouse we are both truly very sorry and will pay the Vale back if needed."

Uennie
___Uenoh'ai raised an eyebrow, she had heard something had happened, but as far as she knew it had been handled. Perhaps she should look into it? She mulled the idea over in her mind. She was constantly buried in paperwork, trying to find meanings behind the letters from Amelia, and going over costs of the Vale. Another matter that needed her attention would probably be a minute addition. The Assistant nodded to Seveda before closing the door behind both botanists. She walked beside the young woman quietly, and shook her head. Dismissing the question, she stayed a step ahead of the walking companion to lead the way, down the steps and down a hallway that was generally unlit and off-limits to other personnel.

___It was indeed dark, and she used a key to unlock a nearby fuse box. Flipping a switch, the fluorescent lights began to illuminate, creating large knocking sounds that echoed off the walls as each one lit. The lights beamed down from an immense dome that continued straight until the very back of the enormous room, where there was a doorway leading to an even larger section. They were viewing this, from the other side of a tall wrought-iron gate. It seemed almost out-of-place here, as she unlocked it and pushed it to one side, gaining entrance.
___"This is the Darwin Wing, probably one of my greatest pride and joys." Uennie said loudly, her voice echoed back and forth in the room. On the ceiling delicate murals of flora and fauna through the ages flowed in careful detail. Glass displays lined the walls, and cases peppered the marble floors. She reached out a hand and gently placed it upon the knee of a dinosaur skeleton. "A little dusty, I'd wager, but nothing a little elbow grease couldn't fix." Assistant Uenoh'ai frowned, she should've sent a crew down before they came.

___"There are corridors to other parts of the wing on either side of the room. You'll find a very lovely collection of displays playing upon ancient civilizations and different animal habitats." She cleared her throat before motioning to the large door in the back. "That is entrance to the Vale's Menagerie. You will find almost any live animal there. As you probably guessed, it is a door to the outside, a zoological park if you will. Indeed it is set up as one of the finest Zoo's in the world, and you'll notice the stone wall surrounding the entire thing." Uennie turned to a glowing map of the area and placed a finger on the "You Are Here". Moving it across the plastic she tapped her index upon a room near the Zoo.
___"For anyone you'd like to recruit here, that is their worker's quarters. There are ample supplies to maintain care of this facility there, as well as a small kitchenette, television, and seating." Uenoh'ai turned to the scientist, of which she assumed was probably very confused. "Young lady, you are the new head of Zoology here at the Vale. Congratulations, and well-done on your resume, Researcher." She held her hand out to the girl as a sign of goodwill. "If you need anything, please do not hesitate to ask."

kitten
The heart beating within Kitten's chest felt like it would come loose at any moment and fall right to her feet. The longer Uenoh'ai continued to walk the more Kitten felt like she was being lead to her doom, like one of those shows where pets were sent to the pound and then the worst of the worse happened when no one picked them up. The silence too made the woman's ears ring painfully. Was she supposed to talk to the woman? Was there anything that could be said at the moment besides sorry that would get her out of hot water? The poor woman was so hung up on thinking that she was in trouble for the whole Kyocho incident that she didn't notice where they were going. It wasn't until the lights flickered on that Kitten blinked gray eyes to adjust to the new glow of the fluorescent lighting.

Where the devil were they? It was certainly somewhere she'd never been...or many people at that thought as she noted the dust here and there. How...empty and hollow the place seemed. For being the favorite place of the assistant it seemed to devoid of life. Maybe the woman was being brought here to clean it up a bit? The second string of words uttered by Uenoh'ai seemed to put the nail on the coffin for the girl. She was being punished for Seveda's attack by cleaning the entire wing.

The rest of the woman's words were almost complete lost to Kitten as she hung her head, a hand lifting to her hair to twirl a few locks; the woman could revert to quite the immature state when she felt like she was being punished or scolded. Subconsciously her short gray hair began fading to a moody blue at the tips. Kitten didn't notice since she wasn't looking at a mirror, but it was a noticable change for the other assistant.

Suddenly the sight of the hand before her made Kitten start and she looked up with a perplexed look. Congradulations? On what? Oh snaps, what had the woman been talking about?

Hurridly Kitten took Uenoh'ai's hand and returned a firm handshake, a bright smile lighting up her face as the words the woman had spoken just a moment earlier seemed to rewind in her ears. "I - what? Zoology Head? Really? Oh wow, that's amazing! Thank you so much for this opportunity!" Kitten sputtered in an over excited manner. She wasn't being scolded! She was being promoted! What a change of events this was turning out to be.

For the first time Kitten took a better look around the wing, her eyes wide and misty, filled with the excitement they get when they've just found out Christmas came early in a form of a surprise present from their parents. She was the owner of a grand museum, and more than that she was now the owner of the most extensive zoo in the, what was it, the whole world? Well, ok, so maybe owner wasn't the best of words, but this was hers and that just made it something special.

Uennie
___"Sauntering down the elaborate flights of stairs, Uenoh'ai tossed her hair proudly. Setting her shoulders back she reveled in the stares at her broad frame and strong muscles. These were her prides in life, every taut sinewy muscle that strained beneath her dark skin. She loved watching her body flex and work, shining beneath the bright suns. Dark wavy hair clung to her cheeks, before being swept up into a messy bun. Her broad mouth opened into a white-toothed laugh, glinting against her honeyed dark-pink lips. Stretching her long legs before her, she took the center by storm.

___Stopping for a moment, the female pointed at a knobbly stick leaning against a nearby stand. The merchant woman waddled over to it and picked it up with effort. Uenoh'ai gently handed the portly woman a few gold coins and took the rod firmly in one hand.

___She walked away slowly, before sitting down and swinging her legs over the side of a dock. Her boots thudded ungracefully against the heavy wood. Unsheathing one of her smaller knives, Uennie widened her eyes and began to focus intently on smoothing out the large twig. Working the wood quickly in her hands it began to take a more cylinder shape, with etchings of runes and spells being carved deep into the sides. She blew the wood-dust from the grooves and ran her long fingers over it, the runes glowing quickly and then settling back into their wooden state.

___Pleased with her current work, she firmly stuck the rod upright between two stones and sat next to it proudly. Light from the sun flickered in the worked patterns, which seemed to twist with every new shadow.

___The female stretched her powerful arms above her head and gave a great yawn. She blinked her eyes, reaching one of her hands down from above her head to poke herself in the temples. Reaching her arms up again she entwined her fingers and twisted rapidly to the side, cracking her joints and back. The woman sighed, a large smile spreading across her smirking face. Sinking her arms back down to the ground she arched her back and jerked her neck from side to side, cracking it audibly. Batting her long dark lashes, her large lips curled into a smile. Eyebrows quirking inquisitively she reached up and grasped the staff, smiling broadly at no one in particular.

___Her chest swayed gently, with her deep meditative breathing. Her shoulder and back muscles flexed and moved beneath her bronzed skin in an effortless dance. Long fingers traced the pale fingernails along an intricate pattern embroidered along her scarlet tunic. Gold weaving adorned the long, oversized cuffs which covered most of her hand and knuckles. Traveling up the slender wrist there were leather bands, before the shirt came out the other side in a white puff of sleeve. The large blouse had no shoulders, and tied tightly across her ample chest. Slitted leggings clung to her thighs, before being tied off halfway down her powerful calves and exposing her dark feet.

___Uenoh'ai disliked shoes, and avoided wearing them whenever possible. She wiggled her toes, experimenting with each. She peered at them with large brown eyes and intense focus. She licked her lips, wetting them before pursing her mouth. Blowing a steady stream of air she attempted to produce sound from it. Biting her lips in disgust she thrust her bottom lip forward in a pout. Ever since she was little, the woman was unable to procure a single note from the wind between her lips.

___"Oh well ..." She thought. "Maybe another day ..."

___She had traveled so far from. Frustrated, she had thought for sure she would have found at least something to show for her agonizing search. Once again she had combed the Bazaar clean, nothing called out to her. She refused to look for a specific item, only the one that pulled at her mental fancy would have done. Planning ahead is sometimes good ... But it's very scary most of the time. Living in the moment is just as fearful, but this search proved to be a test that showed she could be as spontaneous as the next.

___People had begun to stare at her wrought-iron hand, sticking out of her cuff. She remembered the very day she'd lost it when she was eight. Funny things happen when you lose control of things you keep locked away inside of you. Standing up, she walked slowly to the shop. One last time, she would peruse his items. Perhaps barter for a new pen-knife. She entered the shop and smiled at him gently, as they exchanged formalities. He went into the back, as he always did, and presented her with a plain yet mysteriously beautiful chest. Reaching out with her metal fingers, she touched the lid and cautiously opened it. He watched her carefully, a slight look of surprise passing over his face before vanishing as she opened it.

___A small light quivered and trembled, shrinking back into the corner of the box. Stretching a finger forward, Uenoh'ai gently picked it up and held it delicately. Something, was here. Something more than just a shaking ball of light. Uennie could feel something, an intelligent mind tugging frantically at hers. It ached to be let out, to live, to be free. Placing it back inside the box, she carefully closed the lid and picked it up, the beads shaking gently, making a tinkling sound. Reaching out, she dropped the appropriate amount into his hands and smiled at him. He grinned back and handed her a hand-written receipt. Bowing their heads to each other, she exited the shop, the understanding mutual."

___The sunlight streamed into the hazy room, Uenoh'ai rolled over and opened her eyes. As her vision cleared the cloudy mist lifted and the patterns sewn onto her quilt stared up at her. She rubbed her eyes, shifting once more and turning to survey the room. Suddenly she went from a comfortable feeling to hot, and groaned as she realized her body was telling her to get out of bed. The monitor on her bedstand crackled and her eyes suddenly widened. Scrambling out of bed she rushed into the small room she'd added on and hurriedly picked up the baby in the cradle. The child had slept longer than she had, but she couldn't believe her irresponsibility for forgetting about the baby. Uennie looked down at Esprit and kissed her nose gently, bouncing her and gently waking her on the way to the bathroom.
___"Time for a bath honey girl ..."

Uennie
___"Uenoh'ai paced slowly, examining the details of the small pebbles scattered at her feet. Crouching slowly, she picked one up and squinted at it critically before tossing it away and inspecting another. The foreign woman had wandered deep into the Withered Woodlands, and was searching for the perfect items. An odd pearl and thorn caught her attention, but she quickly dismissed it before gnawing on her thumb and glancing around. Now that she was used to it, the woods weren't so scary anymore. She appreciated that small comfort.

___Leaves rustled gently and a breeze rushed around her ears. Uennie held her hand up to shade her eyes as she tilted her head back and eyed the dense canopy of branches overhead. Specks of sunlight shone through and she could swear she saw lights dancing in the corners of her eyes. A worn and beaten road wound lazily through the forest, and she glanced up and down it slowly, as though not quite sure what to make of it all.

___Her eyes flitted to the ground again, and she reached down and gently began to trace a small drawing into the soil. An eye formed, then a mouth and a nose. She smiled, this was a small pleasure she could take. Dust picked up around her fingertips as she drew and swirled in a miniature tornado before settling back down. The staff she had carved earlier rested lazily upon her shoulder, it seemed relaxed as well. The wood somehow was not so tough to the touch today. Vaguely impressed with her work, Uenoh'ai leaned back and eyed it slowly. The metal in her left arm clacked, and she sighed gently, wishing to God it was made of flesh.

___Uennie stood up and leaned on her staff, before stamping out the child-like image she had created and moving back down the road to town. She passed the Coliseum, and a nearby vendor seemed eager to sell some peculiar beads to her. Not really one for strings of shiny objects, she continued on down the road, until the rooftop of the local merchant's home greeted her. She smiled and waved cheerily at him, and he smiled gently. He knew that look on her face by now, she had not found what she had been looking for. The grey-haired boy went in the back as she settled herself on a nearby chair, sliding aching feet out of her large boots. Uennie wiggled her toes, and made a face as she tugged off the woolen socks. She hated shoes.

___Uenoh'ai wiggled slightly, unbuttoning the top of her pants and her cuffs as she let herself relax. Snuggling down into the comfortable leather chair she sighed and felt the fireplace roar, while rain began to tap at the windows. A young man emerged and poured her a pint of clean chilled water, and she brought the cup to her lips. Drinking down the common beverage, she smiled at him as he sat down across her. She loved water, she couldn't understand why some people didn't like it. It was the most delicious drink in the world, and it did have its own sort of taste. He hugged his arms across the back of the chair as he sat in it reversed. Scooting it up, he began to engage Uenoh'ai in a long conversation."

___Uennie jerked awake, nearly losing her balance on the couch. Her eyes flitted to the window and she realized it was dark outside. She turned her aching neck to the side and squinted, forcing her eyes to adjust so she could read the time. A fluttering came speeding out of the hallway to berate her long nap.
___"It's about time." Ixchel scolded her, taking an obvious attitude. "You've been asleep for three hours, when I said I'd help watch that baby I didn't mean be its mother." The faerie hovered and went on an on, and Uenoh'ai sighed and offered her a sheepish smile. She reached over and touched her arm gently, reassuring herself that it was there. What an odd series of dreams ...

Uennie
___I awoke today, wild and scared as I looked at my surroundings. Jumping to my feet I began to frantically reach out into the twilight, groping for something to hold onto, something to assure the darkness in my eyes wasn't real. Gradually, my eyes had adjusted, and my dear confidante I gazed around the clearing as if I'd never seen it before. Vaguely I remember, being tossed onto a white beach by an unforgiving ship. I stumbled through the trees and fell, my sun-soaked mind exhausted by my worldly journey.

---

___The forest I had come to consciousness in, had to've been something magical. I could swear the fireflies were sprites, and the trees seemed something old and mystic. I was starved, and I began to forage, digging my nails into the ground to find a truffle or two to feast on, before continuing my journey. All I have left is you, my worn leather-bound companion. You who have followed me and been a listening friend to me all these years since I arrived. But I will never give up. I will find those mystical beings. The ones which fight to exist.

---

___I was panicked, I was in yet again a strange place. A strange house, with a strange woman hovering above me. She smiled, and I felt strange, light-headed. My eyes rolled back and I believe I fainted.

---

___Finally, I am well. The seasickness and sunstroke has worn off. I've slept for five days, waking up briefly inbetween. This voyage of mine, has taken much out of me. I do not know how much more I would be able to stand. I spoke to the red-haired youth. She looked interesting to me, almost as though she'd seen things on other sides before, and I don't mean of the table.

---

___I have worn myself out again. It is getting harder to write as my eyes become heavy. Tomorrow I must keep looking. When I mentioned to her I was searching for Dr. Amelia, her eyes twinkled and she laughed playfully. I insisted I go continue my quest, yet she stopped me and gently laid me back down. She is so kind to me.

---

___Today was a great day of mourning. This world, this planetary sphere, cried today. I do not understand why, or how. The elder man in this home cried as well, something I had never before seen the wizened do. He hides his emotions well. The woman seemed almost to not understand it either, but he knew enough and the day was quiet. At the end the father-man lit a sparkler and watched it burn out in the night sky.

---

___The red-haired woman smiled at me today. She told me that she was Dr. Amelia. I felt foolish for insisting it so much, but at the same time I was frustrated at her for playing with me and not telling me right away. However, maybe he knew I would be even harder to restrain in bed if I knew I was that much closer to my goal.

---

___I left to explore the Tree today. Soon I will begin searching for a new home here. As hard as I looked I could not find anything to suit my fancy. Nothing called out to me. I feel depressed, I felt so sure I could find the item I was looking for ...

---

___I have found a temporary home, taking rest at an Inn not far from Amelia's. I've found I've taken a liking to her. She's intelligent, yet something about her is different. It moves me in a certain way I do not think I understand. In a way, she seems far younger than me. I feel maternal in an odd sense, and yet it is always her being the maternal one.

---

___I walked along the river today. An eccentric man seemed to suddenly appear, and I was taken aback by his cheery yet foreboding personality. He seemed steeped in history, and was not lacking for humorous cracks at my expense. I've decided that I like him very much. As I pressed him for details, she seemed distant and uttered this one single phrase I will write here.

"What you seek to grow is found within us all, pushed down by the darkness, without which the chaos we are, humans would never exist."

It confused me greatly, but suddenly he began talking excitedly about scrolls. I suppose some day I shall truly understand this interesting man.

---

___Baldr came to see me. He clucked his tongue and reached over to feel my forehead. I had still retained an odd sea-green tinge after all those days of rest. Amelia reckons perhaps to throw me off the pirates had haphazardly placed arsenic on me. Taken in small doses it pales and contrasts the skin. It is annoying, I would very much so prefer to have my healthy skin back. Baldr presented me with an herb mixture, and told me to take it slowly for a month. I do not know if I should stay here, I know I must find the Tree.

---

___I was incredibly sick today, it was the herbs I think. I cannot remember much. I have found a companion in an unlikely piece of wood. I miss my beloved. Amelia has been so sweet to me. My family, my sisters, my brothers. I've lost sight of them now. Sometimes I can feel them whispering to me, but the pain hurts, and the loss is too much to bear. I miss them. I want to go home, or have them come be with me. If anything, I miss my Esprit. The best, and only true friend I ever had. If I could only have one wish, it would be for them to be here with me, in this new world, with my new family.

___Uenoh'ai woke with a start, grasping her chest with her hand. What was that? That dream, what did it mean? Dr. Gaia ... How long had she been gone now? Perhaps something needed to be done ...

Greenhouse RP: November 14th "And then there were two."

Alinedra
Alinedra bustled around the biodome attempting to keep busy and be useful at the same time. Today was the day she would hear Uennie's take on the pairing with Eden that she'd proposed. Brushing her hair out of her face, she hardly paid attention to the ceramic pot she was filling with soil for replanting. It wasn't until after the dirt was piled so high it started to slide over the sides did she stop and turn pink at her actions.

There wasn't anything to do in the lab today, which is why she'd volunteered to help in the biodome. There was always something to do there, and she enjoyed the familiarity of it. Plus, there was no missing any announcements over the intercom, or messengers to call her to Uennie's office, because the place was so quiet you could almost hear the plants grow.

Grabbing a handful of fertilizer she began mixing it with the soil, and continued to fret about the upcoming day.

((gawd i suck at rp))

Uennie
___Researcher Uenoh'ai felt extremely tired, the wear of unstopping activity taking a toll upon her muscles. What now, what now. She sighed and tapped her side, raising a clipboard from her desk. Flipping through some papers she nodded, closing her eyes as her head tilted from the movement. Even her neck was giving out. She lifted the board and papers looking down at the counter in an exhausted staring contest, before dropping it upon the smooth black isle. The clatter echoed, and did not seem to be interested in aiding her physical situation. There, take that, her mind proclaimed in a sick triumph. Realizing she'd just tried to punish an inanimate object, she sighed and began to walk out her door.

___The woman slung her hands into her laboratory coat pockets, walking with a determined gait. She reached a hand out, gently touched the railing and began to guide herself down the stairs. Turning around and around, she wondered if her feet ever got dizzy. The BioDome wasn't much further ahead, how grateful she was. Uennie began to pick up the pace, her shoes clicking a little faster upon the floors. Near the entrance she slowed, and put a placid look upon her face. There, she spied Alinedra not much further away. She hoped that her tired interior wouldn't bleed to her exterior, and give the girl the wrong impression as she made her way closer.

Alinedra
Huffing away at filling pots with soil, Alinedra had forgotten how demanding it was working in the BioDome. She'd only been out of here a few months, and already she could tell what parts of her body had become accustomed to the easy life of a desk job. Cursing herself for her lax health, Ali sat back to stretch for a moment. It was then out of the corner of her eye she saw someone approaching.

Turning to see who it was, the girl foolishly had a mind lapse and didn't realize where she was about to walk was currently occupied with a large bag of opened soil and fertilizer. What followed was probably one of the funniest and most emberassing things she'd done in years. She literally spun toward the person, took a step forward into imaginary free space, and wound up on her back, covered in dirt, staring upside down at the woman that would be the judge and jury in her quest to keep Eden as her own. Turning about ten shades of red, Ali looked up at Researcher Uenoh'ai and could do nothing but bust into laughter.

Uennie
___The Researcher tiredly rubbed her forehead as she looked down at the young woman. Ah, to have none of the responsibilities of Researcher and once again muss around in dirt. Uenoh'ai fondly remembered her earlier days here, spending hours mulling around the BioDome, chatting with Edwin and skipping stones on the many pools. She waved her hand at Alinedra, motioning to continue with her work. Uennie swept her skirt out from under herself and sat down on a nearby bench, crossing her legs and opening the file. She looked at the girl and and back to the cheap Polaroid paper-clipped to the form.

___"Alinedra you've been here for awhile now haven't you?" Uennie cleared her throat and looked at the papers slowly, allowing for response. "I see you've put in a request for custody of the Specimen, Eden. It's very impressive, you've been quite dedicated here, and your resume before you came here was what prompted me to hire you in the first place." The Researcher had the passing fancy of how proper she might look if she had prescriptioned glasses at this moment. For a moment she paused, wondering why everything she saw associated spectacles with being brainy. Waving the thought away she gave her attention back to the young woman, "Though you gave a very lovely essay in the entry, I thought it might be best if you gave me a small, spur-of-the-moment speech, from the heart."

Alinedra
Looking at the woman then back down at the dirt, Alinedra heaved a sigh and wondered where to begin. Much of what she'd wanted to say she'd put into writing already, for she was never a great wordsmith. Once, when younger, she'd thought that the thing that would benefit her the most would be a machine that could transmit her exact feelings to another being, so they could understand better without her having to struggle for the wording.

Getting to her knees and scraping up the spilt earth, Ali cleared her throat and began. " It wasn't something i had planned. Sure, i aspired to have a charge of my own someday, but I had always thought of Eden as more a mascot than an actual specimen. I didn't realize how much our little play times had touched me till i began looking forward to them, every day, rain or shine."

Sitting back on her heals, she'd managed to get most of the dirt she could see off her clothing. She knew however, that there was atleast a huge smudge on her cheak from where she'd wiped away a tear of laughter. Continuing, she looked up at the woman. " I thought he was like this with all the other researchers and assistants. Just a playful child that would play with anyone. I had no idea till he told me that he wanted me to stay. It was as if he'd read my feelings. " Standing up, she shook her head and made a face.

"I'm not sure i'm saying this right. I guess it's just something that attached itself to my heart, and won't let go. The only obvious answer was to apply for custody. " Hoping she had said the right thing, she studied the womans facial features for a sign of approval.

Uennie
___Uenoh'ai nodded, slightly, and wrote something down on the clipboard. Her face was as stern as always, eyes heavy with constant thought. With flourish she finished the written thought and motioned to the soil Alinedra was working with.
___"What are you doing right now?"

Alinedra
Blushing heavily, Alinedra looked down at her hands. "Well, i was mixing the new fertilizer the lab made with the potting dirt that's next on the list to be used. I needed something to pass the time, what with Sodashi being in one of those moods." Laughing a little, Ali looked up at Uenoh'ai. " She's okay with me being here though, or atleast hasn't complained in the past. There's always work to be done here that helps the whole Vale."

Uennie
___Uennie nodded, and tapped her pen on the clipboard, watching her actions. So, Sodashi was her mentor, very good. Uenoh'ai made a note of that on the form. Decent application ... references checked out. She'd been here for a reasonably long time. The Assistant eyed Alinedra, passing judgment over whatever flaws she could find. She frowned, and looked at the profile picture of Eden. Would he be happy with this woman? Alas, it didn't seem like it would matter, if he wasn't happy, he would at least be well taken care of. Uenoh'ai almost rolled her eyes at her own internal dialogue, of course he would be happy, and in truth that was all that would matter. Standing, she nodded at the kneeling girl and began the walk out.
___"I will send him down to your new Laboratory, number one, be sure to greet him kindly. Congratulations."
