Setting Cirrus down softly, Kade kept his arms around her, resting lightly around her hips. Looking at her, he listened carefully to her before saying anything. Worry creased his brow for a moment as her own face was etched with another worry. Taking her chin in his hand he lifted her face too look straight at him.

"The other day was a beautiful day, all of it." He said simply. His hand wandered around to the back of her neck and drew her close once more. His lips soft on hers, his tounge lightly touched agaist the softness of her own lips, questioning.

Cirrus pulled herself closer against Kade as he leaned down for another kiss. At his gentle questioning, Cirrus parted her lips and lost herself to Kade's warmth and strength. Everything that had been plaguing her mind was completely lost. All that mattered was standing here with Kade while the rain shut the rest of the world out. Slowly she pulled her lips away and smiled up at him with her eyes closed for a moment. Taking a deep breath filled with the fresh scent of rain and the masculine scent of Kade, she slowly opened her eyes.

"Do you think we might be moving to fast?" she asked. She hoped his answer would be no, but she didn't want to keep going down this path with him if it wasn't going to go anywhere.

With the rain around them, the world didn't exist beyond the intoxicating smell and taste of Cirrus. When she pulled away he let her, smiling lightly at her soft intake of air. Her next words damped the fire that had sprung up in him at her presence, his hands immediatly lossened around her waist, his face took on a casual look, but his eyes couldn't hide the sudden dissapointment and pain that flashed through him in a moment.

"Cirrus if you think we are moving too fast, thats fine." His words were his normal soft low tone, but they were lacking in warmth. Kade wanted to hit himself, he had never forced his attentions on a girl, had made a point not to. Maybe Cirrus was right to pull back though, as much as it hurt, maybe they were moving too fast.

It had felt so right though.

He wouldnt' say anything though, this was her choice not his.

Cirrus blinked at Kade's sudden change in personality and felt as though her stomach had fallen onto the floor. She had just ruined the best moment of her entire life with one simple cliche phrase.

"I...I don't think so," she said softly, taking half a step back, sliding her hands from around his neck to rest lightly on his chest. "I don't think we are. It's just that I've never been so comfortable with someone in such a short amount of time. It just feels too surreal. Too good to be true," she smiled, hoping to put the warmth back into his eyes.

Searching her eyes for any kind of insecurity, unsurety, he didn't see any. Lifting his own hands to cradle hers he lifted them to his lips and kissed her fingers lightly. He took a deep breath and let it out with a soft sigh.

"I feel the same way Lady." He said looking back into her eyes, the warmth coming back to his person and his eyes, but still tinged by a bit of worry. "But if you ever feel uncomfortable, or unsure, all you have to tell me is no, I would never do anything to hurt you." He wanted her back in his arms, he wanted that moment back, before the words, but he'd have to wait for her.

Cirrus was unsure for a moment. After he had spoken, the warmth had returned, but he made no move to hold her in his arms again. Searching his eyes for a moment, she slipped her arms back around his neck and twirled some of his black hair around her fingers.

"I know that," she smiled and stretched up on her tip toes to kiss his lips tenderly. Inside she was kicking herself for her stupidity. Even though he said the words, the damage had already been done. Instead of the easiness they had shared before, there was a cold hesitancy. God she could be so stupid sometimes.

He hesitated a moment longer. With her arms around his neck, her fingers in his hair, and the tingle of the recent kiss on his lips, he finally gave in and put his arms around her once more, his hands pressing agianst the small of her back to pull her back to him once more. Leaning his forehead against hers he closed his eyes and just breahted for a moment.

He didn't say anything for a while, just stood their his mind working slowly through what he knew of Cirrus and what he thought he knew. She was a soft spoken young lady, sweet exterior, but she had a quiet place that held something else in her soul. He knew that he wanted to know everything about her, everything that was important to her, everything that had made her this woman that he felt so close to after such a short time.

"I do want to take it slow." He said suddenly, his voice just louder than the constant patter of the rain. "I want to learn everything about you, I want you to be comfortable, I want you to be happy." He didn't open his eyes, He just stood there, knowing he liked having her close, and hoping she wouldn't move away again.

Cirrus closed her eyes as he pulled her closer to him and leaned his forehead against hers and treasured his gentle reassuring touch. She wondered at the way he had so easily turned himself off to her at her simple question. She knew he was a true gentleman, his actions based on a chivalry that she had dreamed about but never witnessed or experienced. She realized that they really weren't moving fast. Did it really matter that she wanted nothing more than to be cradled against him, or taste his lips against hers? They still had so much to learn about eachother, but couldn't they do it while being with each other? At his soft words, she opened her eyes and looked up at his soft expression and smiled.

"Silly Kade. Can't you see that I am comfortable with you? That you make me the happiest I've ever been?" she asked, pressing herself closer against him and wrapping her arms tighter around his neck. "We've got nothing but time Kade," she whispered softly against his lips. She kissed him lightly, then pulled away slightly.

"So let's get started," she said with a teasing glint in her silver eyes. She pulled out of his arms and grabbed his large hand with her small one to pull him over to the porch swing that was gently swaying in the cool breeze in the middle of the gazebo. "There's a lot to learn," she smiled with a small wink. "What would you like to know first? Ask me anything and I promise I'll answer you. Anything at all," she said as she sat down and looked up at him.

Her small hand in his, Kade let Cirrus lead him to the swing, a soft happy smile on his lips. Her words had elicted an unfamilar giddy feeling in him, and he couldn't help the smile. He had known that she was happy, but he hadn't known it was him that made her so, and that made him just plain silly-happy. To know that she was as happy as he was when he was with her, it made a differnce. She made his heart forget the fires of his past that too often haunted his present. With her words, her touch, her mere presence, she made the world a brighter place.

Sitting next to her on the bench, he wrapped his arm around her shoulders and pulled her close to him. He wasn't really sure what to say, what to ask, where to start. He sat there for a time, the hand on her shoulder playing with her long platinum hair. Silence fell between them, touched by the falling of the rain, a soft silence, filled with the comfort that Kade had come to associate with Cirrus.

"Whats your family like." He asked it unthinkingly, and almost regretted it, he knew his own family was less than a good subject, and he had gathered that hers wasn't exactly "normal." He shrugged to himself though, might as well start with the hard parts and get through them.

Cirrus snuggled up against Kade's masculine warmth, smiling happily as he played with her hair and let him think for a moment. With the curtain of rain surrounding them, all they had was time. At his question, she sucked in her breath and held it for a moment. Where to begin, she wondered. She turned her head away and stared down at the ground, trying to collect her thoughts. She had said anything, she grinned softly. She reached up and slipped her hand into the one draped over her shoulder.

"Well," she began, licking her lips nervously, "I suppose that depends on your definition of family. I suppose in a traditional sense... all I have is my brother, and he is... extremely protective of me. He has been our entire lives. I guess you could say we come from one of those cliche broken homes. Abusive alcoholic parents and that sad old tale. When my pa left us, my ma packed us up and moved us to Las Vegas. Where, to make another arduous story short, my brother and I were seized by the state. Those were... not good times," she said darkly. "But we were lucky I suppose. One of the benefactors of the place we were living at ended up adopting us both..." she trailed off, thinking of how happy she had been when she had convinced Charles to adopt her brother as well. "Things lifted up from there.... I suppose," she ended softly. The darkest wound of all, she held deep within her, afraid for her brother's sake.

After she stopped speaking, she shivered lightly and snuggled closer to Kade. Her past was not something she delved deep into often and avoided at all costs. But for Kade, she could make the exception. He needed to know in order to understand her. In order to understand her brother when that dark bridge was in need of crossing.

He regretted asking the qeustion even more now, her hesitation, and uncertainty, where evident in her words and stress that quivered through her shoulders. He clasped the hand that lifted to him and held it against all comings. He listened to her words, and he could not help but wonder at the varying scopes of human screw ups when it came to family. A virtual cornucopia of broken, forgotten, abanadoned children and adults both, in America an others, but he saw them mostly in America.

Leaning his head against hers, he lifted his free hand to wrap around her waist, lying lighlty on her hip. He let her speak, not interupting her, not asking questions till she was done. "Was it better after that Cirrus?" He asked softly, her words said one thing, but there was so much behind those words he couldn't work them all out.

Cirrus swallowed thickly and pulled her head away from his to look up at him. She searched his deep blue eyes for a moment, then closed hers and leaned her forehead against his chin.

"It could have been better." She attempted a smile and a small laugh. Slowly she moved her head to look back up into his eyes. "I've never told anyone this... I'm not really sure if I want to say it now. But I promised you anything," she smiled weakly. "Charles... our adopted father... would... come into my room sometimes," she said hesitantly, her cheeks instantly a deep crimson. She had never voiced that part of her life before and she felt ashamed speaking the words now. Swallowing hard again, she managed a small smile.

He hated her hesitancy, he didn't want to push her into saying anything she didn't want to as much as he didn't want to push her to do something she didn't want to. Her false bravado made him worry, and he looked down into her soft grey eyes, worry and shadows dancing there.

"You don't ever have to tell me something you don't want to." He said before she went on. He listened closely to her, never letting his eyes leave hers centered on her and reminding her that he was there. Her words though woke another fire in him, one he was too familar with.

Before he had looked away there was a flash of inferno in his blue eyes, bright now with something bordering on rage, but queiter. For a moment he let the fire burn through him, elicting too rationale thoughts of midnight travelling and leaving a house covered in blood.

The warmth of her beside him, and her disconcerted false laughter brought him back, quickly though. He took a deep breath and looked down at her flushing face. His eyes, though still too bright, were filled with concern.

"You have no reason to feel ashamed Cirrus." He said gently, laying a soft kiss, just at the corner of her eye once more. He had found a shadow in her heart, and all Kade wanted to do was make it dissapear. Slowly, his hands strong, but yeilding if she wanted to move away, he pulled her into his lap. He wanted her close to him, he wanted to hold her, and know she was there and the fire couldn't touch that.

Cirrus's smile faded as a familiar darkness shadowed his gentle eyes. A shadow she had seen one too many times cross Kayne's eyes. When he turned back to her, she could sense that again something within him had changed subtly and the fire she thought she had recognized seemed different from the one she knew all too well with Kayne. Concern filled his eyes and relief washed through her that it wasn't pity there instead. Moving willingly at his touch, Cirrus slid easily into his lap, relishing the closeness to him. She wrapped her arms tightly around his neck and buried her face into his shoulder, but not to cry. She wouldn't let herself cry over the sick man who claimed to be her father. Breathing in Kade's warmth soothed her and she felt a sliver of peace. As if her burden had been lightened. Slowly she lifted her head to lightly place a kiss on the side of his neck.

"Tell me something about yourself Kade," she said softly against the warm skin of his neck. She placed another feather soft kiss against his pulse, then pulled away slightly to look back into his eyes.

Smiling soflty into her hair as she buried her face in his shoulder, she had seen the darkness, maybe not the full view, but she had still seen it and not been afraid. That thought managed to completly smother the fire. He just sat there holding her for a moment, mareveling at how light she was and how wonderful she smelled.

Looking down at her as she shifted to look up at him, he gave her a wry smile. "I don't think I have much on you." He said jokingly, though the concern was still there. "But I guess the only place to start is with my own family." His smile was wry though his eyes were clouded. "My mother and Pop, they split up when I was about 9 I guess." The way he titled them and the emphasis behind them, it was obvious how he felt about his parents seperatley. "She won full custody with visiting rights, a mothers love right." He shrugged at that. "Pop though, he's a rough neck and since we got moved out to California, we didn't see him that much." He was telling a story, and though there was lingering emotions behind the words, it was an old story. "Now I don't know if my mother was simply unhappy, or if it was simple hatred, but we didn't get along to say the least." He said snorting lightly at the understatment. "That was a hard time, I was trying to keep Laurel out of the line of fire, but I really didn't like my mom." Looking at Cirrus he smiled. "You'd like Laurel, and I know she would just love you; my two angels." He gave her a quick kiss and winked at her. "But yeah I got in with some bad crowds, trying to work out my anger." This was said quietly and he kinda drifted off for a moment. Alot of memories lived in Cali, some he wished would stay there.

"But yeah, I turned 16, and moved down to Texas with my Pop." He smiled lightly at that. "And now I'm here, Pop's out in the oil feilds here." His tone had obviously changed. "Hey when he gets a break we'll have to drag him out to dinner."
