Yep: that's the gist of it, but I think you have to see it to believe it as I'm still sceptical. That, and I can't stand mushyness in any way shape or form. Don't give me romance books or films. [shudder] If you do, I will beat the tv, the book, or you with a wet noodle until you cry.

what's wrong with happily ever afters? sure there not that common but they gotta exist otherwise there wouldn't be stories with them.
but i agree i don't believe in love at first sight either, lust at first sight is much more probable.
and as for soulmates, i believe there is one person for every1, but the chances of finding them aen't always that great. i'm content to just be in a relationship with my baby, he's all i need for now and for a while yet.

I don't agree, I think there are stories about happily ever afters exactly because they don't exist. We want them to.
Lust or attraction... I'll persume there is one person for everyone right now and put it this way: There's 6 billion people on the planet. What if my soul mate was born in the middle of Kongo? I hate heat more than anything, I'll never go there.
I think soulmates, if such a thing would exist would be by definition required to appear at one or other stage in your life... I know people who lived their entire lives without them. If they didn't find eachother then they're not soulmates and therefore, I don't believe there's a person for everyone on the planet.
I think the feeling of soulmates is purely chemical, as is falling in love. And I think it just as easily goes way, what's left after that, the caring for eachother, that demands a lot of work, if it happens.

The thing about soulmates is that they won't always be in your live as a lover, but maybe a brother or sister, cousin, or just whatever instead. And then some people think we have different soulmates for the different stages of our lives, like when we're teenagers, when we're adults, etc.
