"pixiestix" as in the sugary snack loved by many, including myself. now for the random bit of japanese"ryu" I'm pretty sure thats pronounced with a "rye" sound and then an "ooo"/"ew" ....or something of the sort. Basically it was 3 am and I was sugar-high. I looked on my desk for inspiration and there were some pixiestix wrappers and a hyozanryu card.
I could be entirely mistaken on the last part. Which would be pretty sad, but its me, so its possible. I actually had to think about it and then guess what helped me! An episode in the noa arc. I'm pretty sure that was how they pronounced spirit ryu in one of the duels.
(plus after watching anime for so long ya pick up pronunciations even if you've never had a japanese class in your life.... I get all annoyed now whenever my friends pronounce the su in daisuke or tasuke. & then we were talking about ranma 1/2 someday and one of my pals who reads manga and watches anime frequently said akane literally as "a cane" ....I cried emo tears )
I can't stop ranting in the off-topic threads, sorry. D=

Hate to break it to you dear but dub YUU*GI*OU pronounces "Ryu(u)" wrong. XD;; At least they do for good reason; it's very hard to pronounse for people who don't know Japanese pronunciation. To make it simple instead of going into the whole "R" and "Y" pronunciations, I'm just going to say that it sounds kind of like a mixture of the English words "do" and "you." Except the "oo" sound is held out longer.

My user name came from a combination of Joey Wheeler's japanese name and Tokyo Mew Mew: MewJounouchi. Pronounce: MEOW---JOh--NOh--Uu--Ji.

*slight twitch* Well um... "mew" isn't pronounced the same as "meow" but more like "myuu," as in an m with a directy y sound after it and then an "oo" sound. And the u's in Jounouchi's name are silent and the ending is a ch sound instead of a j sound, so it would just be "Joh-noh-chee." sweatdrop

It sounds like they pronounce the "u" before the chi in the series. maybe I'm imagining it.

Mewjounouchi I know that I was supposed to right it as Chee. But someone told me to write is as Ji. question Ji? Are you sure they didn't tell you to write it as "ti"? Sometimes, "Chi" is alternated with "ti", but I would still never write 'ti' in oppose to 'chi'.

When ever I write down Jounouchis name I always go Chi. But CHI sounds sorta like JI so my friend told me to write Ji so Americans can read it better. confused

That's really weird... your friend telling you that... But anyway, with the "u" thing in Jounouchi, sometimes some of the characters 'whisper' that part. That's because in the kanji for his name the characters go as following: First character is "Jou" or "Joo," second character is "No," and third character is "Uchi." So when combined, while it in the end would combine to be "Joh-noh-chee" (when u's come after o's they are usually silent but in turn cause the o to be held out longer) but some prefer to be truer to the separation of Kanji in their pronunciation, so you might hear a bit of an "oo" sound, though it is very short and difficult to notice. In a way it kind of sounds like a combination of a heald-out "o" and an "o" with a "u" directly after it. Make sense? XD;;;
