MISERY in pure bliss

PostPosted: Tue Jun 13, 2006 9:56 am

I would definitely say don't worry about it...I turned 14 at the beginning of the year and it wasn't until June that I got mine... and I would absolutely say that weight has to do with it because up until just recently, I weighed anywhere from 70-85 lbs. on a regular basis and my waist size in inches was like 29"(don't anyone dare say that I am anorexic: I get told that enough at school and I hate it because I'm not: I'm just small!) and I started getting pubic hair and boobs at the beginning of 5th grade (before a lot of people my age) and I thought I was going to start earlier because of that, but it has been 4 yrs since then... Anyways, then about a month before I started, I got cramps and started weighing more... I'm now up to 104 lbs, but that may vary for you, because, sigh, I have quite small breasts (32A yeah try that on for size), and that may cause you to weigh more... Also it really does matter when your mom started because my mom also started when she was 14 and I thought I was never going to, but come to find out it was just genetics and weight...hmmm... Well anyways don't worry about it, a girl in my grade is almost 16 and she hasn't yet either... cool

If you do an intense amount of physical activity, are under stress, don't eat enough, etc., that can cause a delayed period. For example, Olympic gymnasts can be 22 and still sound and look like girls. But that is an extreme case.

I"m guessing your situation is pretty normal here.

Hey, no one's calling you anorexic. smile I had a 26" waist, weighed 105lbs (I'm 5'5") and wore a 30A bra before I got pregnant. Little bones, baby, little bones... well, plus the fact I only ate a meal about once a day.

Anyway, I started my period when I was about 14-1/2. However, if you're seeing that doc and she said you can stop seeing her since you'll start your period and you HAVEN'T started... that implies you should go back to her, no? So do that. Go talk to her, quell your fears and then make SURE nothing is wrong. After all, she's a doctor... it's her job.

Omg, okay this is not a big thing! You can be 17 or 18 and still not have hit puberty (although then we pull into question how much estrogen you have. SO off topic) I didn't even get boobs until the end of grade eight. I was flat and I didn't wear a bra and then BAM I got a C cup which is now a DD. Point being, quit trying to grow up so fast! You don't want to have your period! It sucks! Growing boobs hurts and the extra hormones and acne are not fun!

Yeah, I'm 12, and growing boobs hurt! My 4 yr old sister always punches me in my boob & it hurts. Then she laughes at me! smile

I'm 12 almost thirteen and I've got almost nothing I don't even have a cup size and I have to wear a sport bra. And the growing is not painful for me...is everyone different or is something wrong? And what's BMI?

I got mine when I was 14. Don't worry about it. Everyone is different. Don't rush it or want it to come. Once you get it, you'll wish you didn't have it.

I was quite worried because all my friends had their period except me, but I was quite a thin girl. I heard that you had to have a certain percentage of body fat as well, and I thought that I'd never have my period because of that! I didn't have that much breasts either; you could say I was quite late in hitting puberty as well.

It first came in December of 9th grade so I was quite old already, but not any fatter. Since then, I think I've caught up. I have breasts that are a decent size (C) and my period's regular. Trust me, I was scared before because I didn't have it but now I'm glad it didn't hit sooner because it's SUCH A PAIN.

I got it a month before my 15th birthday.

HOWEVER...at the time I was being treated for an overactive thyroid, which is also a hormonal/endocrinology-related thing. I was about 5'6" and 115 pounds - very underweight. It went unnoticed until about January when I was 14. After going on large amounts of medication, I started to gain weight and got my period.

In your case, I'd say it has to do with the fact that you maybe are too underweight?

Don't worry about it unless you don't get it by the time you turn 16.

It's usually better to make a new thread or reply in more recent ones. Two year old threads don't usually need to be brought back to life.

If you weigh 94 pounds, you are not fat. If you honestly think you are fat, seek professional help because you may be in danger of having or developing a life threatening eating disorder.

Most girls are sort of soft in the tummy. If you only weigh 94 pounds, I guarantee that you're not overweight and that your tummy is not out of control; it's just not possible with your weight.

It sounds like your body is just fine, so stop worrying about it. Eat healthy and stay in shape, and you'll be fine. Avoid junk food since that can cause bloating and can even make you look a few months pregnant!

And work on your self esteem too. Being this concerned with your appearance and body is not psychologically healthy. And if you continue being this concerned with it, yes, you might need professional help. Most girls with eating disorders started out saying exactly what you're saying right now.

It really doesn't matter what other people say. What is attractive and what is not is an opinion. So no matter what you look like, some people will think you are pretty and other people will not.

I grew up with a pretty step-sister who got a lot of attention too, but so what? A lot of people thought she was pretty, but not everyone did. And she wasn't very smart or nice, so she still had her share of flaws. Anyone who judges someone just by their looks is an idiot.
