Sidra blinked at the glint of color, and swiftly stepped to place herself between the foal and the newcomer. However, her voice was friendly when she spoke. "Greetings, stranger. I am Sidra." She bowed her head slightly. Then her eyes caught sight of his enormous blue wings... how strange!

Harperking Gala smiled at the formality of the mare. "Greetings, Sidra. I am Galaen" he said politely. "And who might you be, young one?" he asked the colt who followed her close behind. Silently he sent a call out to his friend Delona, hoping the flowerling wasn't off annoying the female he was so fond of!

FrankFeatherstiff "Hello Galaen," the foal says in a small voice "my name is Toro. I like your green eyes...they remind me of my Daddy's.

Harperking "Merry Meet, young Toro," Gala answered. "Who might your father be? I don't remember seeing you in our gardens before, but you are welcome to stay here as long as you like."

Sidra caught herself staring at the strange, albeit quite handsome Galen. A halo? What on earth? And it was -levitating!- And such unusual wings... She shook herself slightly, trying to keep up with the conversation. So Toro's father had green eyes. Nope, the only dark-coated stallion she knew around here had red. Darn. And Toro's singing was beginning to damage her calm... Not that she'd show such a thing.
"I haven't seen either you or Toro around here before, Galen. Do you live here?"

Sidra nuzzles the baby behind his ears. "Hush... shh... don't give up yet! We've barely begun to look." The mare looked up at Galaen, desperation beginning to show in her eyes.
"He told me earlier that his dad is coal-black; apparently he also has green eyes. His mother is a firey red. Have you seen anyone like that around the garden today? They were... running from a hawk."
Sidra contemplated for a moment that she might be able to find it in her heart to hate hawks if they weren't just animals looking for food... It really wasn't looking good for finding Toro's parents. If they'd escaped the hawk, they should have come looking for their son.
And what in the world am I going to do with him if I don't find them?! Panic crept into Sidra's mental voice. I don't know anything about raising a child! Sidra'd always been a bit of a loner. To make matters worse, her parents had long since gone to the sheltering wings of the gods. She seemed to have nowhere to turn for advice!

Harperking "Hmm... I don't recognized the the two you are mention, but then the forest is a big place and I don't claim to know all that are in it!" Galaen tried to project calm into his voice as he stepped closer to the mare and the foal. He could tell that they both were upset, and the mare seemed near panic, though he couldn't imagine why.
"Why don't we all go over to the wildflower patch. I think there is some early clover up, and perhaps we can find some some of the others"

Sidra sighed softly and fell into step behind Toro, keeping him in the middle betwixt herself and Galaen. Floofing her own wings pensively, Sidra made an effort to quell her panic. Hopefully they still might find one or both of Toro's parents, right?

Harperking Galaen was more than a little worried at the news of the hawk. It had been a while since any of the ponies in this area had been lost to a predator, despite the stories the elders told the young ones.
"Sidra, where exactly did you find this young fellow" he asked the spiral marked mare.
Up ahead of them, something sparkled in the grass. Some pony should eat this - quick!

Distracted by Galaen's question, Sidra does not question Toro's snacking decisions.
"He was over in the flower garden in the northeast corner, under some peonies. I heard him singing."

Harperking Before Gala could warn him off, Toro had raced ahead and munched on the flower. A golden light filtered down, and a melodious voice spoke, seemingly coming from the very air itself.
Bard the voice said. The one word ringing crystalline through the small glade.
With a sigh, Galaen turned to the young colt. "Well, little one, looks like you have found a Gift." He thought for a long moment. "Bard... thats not one we have seen in a long while. If I recall right, once you master it you will be able to call music from the air and use it to control the mood of those around you."
