Ah, but herps are always fun!
Darnit, I wish someone would be an alligator or a crocodile... That would be so kewl... 'Cause I luff gators an' crocs. ^^
On the other hand, maybe someone could be like from... Mongolia or something and hasn't learned English. They're kidnapped because isolated places like that don't have actual authorities and in all it's easy to get a subject like that, and brought to the island. They can't speak to anyone at all and don't understand much because there's no translator. Yes... That's it... Yes... Yeeesss...

Here's an excuse for the transgender serum if you don't mind the "OMG! KILL IT!" look for a finished product: all the pictures you see of angler fish are female, the males are tiny parasites whose only purpose after hatching is to find a female, attach, mate, and die... Romantic, ain't it?
Okay, okay, I have less icky ideas, too.
A gruff, older character becoming a badger... s/he could badger the younger islanders.

I was outside mowing the grass and I thought about someone turning into a Dandelion.
Also, maybe a war veteran who lost an eye or both his legs becomes something that can help him walk or give him extra arm strength...or make him something spineless to tick him off. >D
Hmm...and athletic person become something with no legs, slow moving, or something reasonable fast.
Hobos and an old man who yell at kids for being in their yards! Blind in one eye and squints through the other. Waving his cane around, threating to whack all the kids upside there head.

Also, I think it'd be neat for someone to turn into something that wasn't terribly ironic or cliche'd. Like a sprinter > gazelle, or a construction worker > rhino, or something. I think it'd be a pleasant change from all the cruel twists. Maybe you could say Aubrey picked the serum for them. xd

Platypus was actually my first choice for an idea. ^^ But, I nixed it, as she was going to be a little girl and there are too many cute little girl quest ideas running about. XD
