Fingers sheathed in black cloth lightly stroked the morbid wand in her possession. It hadn't been long since she'd received it from Ianna, but it already was beginning to bring problems to her. She couldn't touch the thing. Well, she could, but not without being violently jerked into some mental haze she didn't care much for.

Kyo sighed and sunk deeper into another of the many couches the HQ had to offer, her eyelids beginning to feel heavier by the minute. Just what had she gotten herself into? Nothing she couldn't handle... hopefully.

Wow. This place sure was lively. Really, what was she doing here anyways? It didn't really matter now... she didn't feel like getting up when sleep was drawing so near and nothing was around to keep her from it. Visions began to lick at the corners of her mind, waiting for the precise moment when they could yank her deep into the void of sleep.

"You awake, hun?"

Patricks voice rang through the HQ with the easy grace of someone who had no issues with anyone. The rather swollen male had his pale Ghostly child at his hip and Yashimas geisha doll in the other hand. He noticed Kyo, just slightly, when passing through and...so... he'd decided to talk to her.

"Is that a wand? What kind?"

"Huh...? Ah..." Kyo shook her head slightly, letting loose that black matted hair. Her free hand quickly brushed the strands away, exposing one side of her face. She blinked groggily at him, then slowly slid her vision to Yashima and that bulging stomach. Pregnant?

"Yes, it is." She lifted the wand slightly so the man could get a better view. "It's a... Mind Flayer. Is that kitsune from this place as well?" She nodded to Yashima slightly.

"You knew he was a kitsune." Patrick seemed pleased at that knowledge, giving his son a little bounce. Yashima didn't make a noise, thrusting his thumb into his mouth and holding out his little hand demandingly.

He wanted the wand. He knew he probably wouldn't get it, but it didn't feel like a girlthing... So it was a boything. Maybe not a friendly boything, but a boything.. or it soon would be.

So many friends were going to become boythings! It pleased the little Kitsune to no end.

"His name is Yashima and he likes wands that are boys." The dark man grinned, head giving a little bow in aknowledgement. "I'm Patrick. You are?"

Kyo simply nodded to the statement. He didn't ask for an explanation on how she knew, so she simply focused on the way the child reached for the wand. "Yes, it's a boy..." She murmured softly, not quite sure if she should hand over the wand or not.

Well, one so young couldn't possibly see the things she could. "Watch the top, okay?" She told the boy softly, as if she expected him to understand. Hopefully he wouldn't stick it in his mouth.

"I'm Kyo. Pleasure to meet you, Patrick." She replied, sliding the base of the wand into Yashi's hand.

Yashima just beamed at her at her words, hand tightening over the base of the Mind Flayers wand, other hand moving to grip the wand jut under the bolbous top to keep it from falling out.

There were pictures, all around his head. Another boything! Hurrah! The wand was clung to, tail flicking from side to side, te tip moving to catch in Yashimas mouth. The toddler sucked at teh furry apendage, wide golden eyes on Kyo curiously.

"How'd you know it was a boy? Most Gaurdians don't, at first, unless it's something gender-specific."

"It's an... ability I could do without." Kyo replied steadily, choosing her words carefully as she did. "Most likely the main reason I was chosen to raise him." The corners of her nearly bloodless lips twitched, then curled upward into a smile that almost made her look normal. Heh. Kitsunes were always cute, in her opinion, even if her own had come soaked in blood and smelling of decay.

The wand lay dormant in Yashima's hands for the moment, though the little something hidden inside must have been able to see the pictures, or at least feel. Though, if it could send anything back, it didn't respond for a little while. It wasn't the wand's fault Kyo saw a few things she shouldn't have when she touched it. She was the one that had prodded open the pocket of memories that had accompanied, but still lay dormant, in the wandling.

Then, for Yashima, there came a sliver of golden color, but one that faded quickly. The child might not have noticed.

"An ability, mm." Patrick chose not to question that, watching as his toddler toyed about with the wand. Yashima was always so very attentive and clingy to the things he decided were worth being clung to.

Then he noticed he was being watched, pausing and blinking up at teh woman curiously, head tilting to one side. "..fukafuka?" He offered, giving teh little wand a small shake..Then the color! A mild little flash, but he squealed none the less, tail poofing up like a cats would.

All for the better that Patrick didn't ask. She wasn't very defensive -she'd have told him the basics of what her abilities fell into- but she didn't openly display anything either. Not often, unless she needed to. She simply nodded to Yashima, smiling again.

"How old?"

The gold flickered away, then came again. Longer and a bit brighter, the tendril twisted and curled into some incomplete shape before fading away. On the third try, it managed a wavy circle inside another, creating something of an eye. Huh.

Patrick simply didn't like to pry. There was enough odddness in his life - from being pregnant to the little gaurdian of death he first adopted - that he didn't have to ask and pry for weirdness anymore.

"Not very. I just got his wand in December... I think December? Either way, around that time... And he's been growing pretty fast. He can walk now. And almost-talk."

"Kitsune," Yashima supplied helpfully to the woman before training his eyes back onto the wand. The movements brough a little giggle from him, fingertips wriggling gently on the shiny black bit.

"Oh, December. I see... Hm. Well, I don't doubt he'll be clever when he grows up. He seems to understand what we're saying now... or most of it. Talking... might all be a matter of getting it out of him. He seems like a quiet one." She tilted her head slightly at him. "Yes, kitsune. Very good."

The eye squished itself as if blinking, then shimmered away at the giggle as if it had managed to hear. It was black as if nothing had ever happened in that dull mind link. Maybe it was waiting for Yashima to do something- show it more things. Maybe it was resting or something. Kyo watched Yashima with a tired gaze, but really was curious as to if he were really communicating with it.

"Does... a baby just appear?"

"Well, first it becomes this little wispy thing... and then this bigger, more solid-ish wispy things where it talks in your head in baby talk.. and then a baby just appears. I'm not sure what EXACTLY happens because I was in the other room when Yashi grew."

Patrick grinned sheepishly, shoulders rising in a shrug. Yashi, on the other hand, concentrated on the little wand, squeezed his eyes shut and pushed as well as he could at the other with his mind. Yashima was no telepath but he'd gotten practice with Kay and now this little wand, so the pictures of himself were being thrust at the wand with his mind were as good as he possibly could.

Kyo nodded, knowing she wasn't going to remember this later without taking notes but also too lazy to get the materials for it out. Eh. It'd just be a surprise for her. She smiled. "That's alright... It might be a case of... 'The watched pot never boils'?"

The dark of the wand practically absorbed the pictures Yashima shoved at it and gave no sign of stirring for a moment. Then, a white line, twisting and splicing itself into a very shaky outline of the fox child. A hazy color of purple would soon flood. It didn't know what it was, just this color. What else? The white line came back, creating that same image of the eye.

"]"Something like that, but less cool." He agreed, laughing and glancing down at his son and her wand. One eyebrow arched... "Well, at least he's not chewing on it. He's at the stage where EVERYTHING goes into his mouth."*

Yashi squealed happily and almost beamed at the sight of his little purple white shaky outline and small fingers gave little pets at the wand. Good good picture! He agreed, giggling and squishing his face again together and shoved at the wand, mentally, a little picture of his own most prized possesion - his own white wand!

Mine.

* NOT FORSHADOWING HE'S JUST BEING A FATHER DAMN YOU.

The woman blinked slightly. She'd never had a child with a fetish for putting things in their mouth. Unless you counted the child of her adopted son, who pretty much nibbled on everything at that age. "Ah.. No, it wouldn't be good if he put it in his mouth... There's a sharp barb at the top."

The wand was traced in white, unable to work with two colors at a time yet. A small swirly was drawn in blue. It liked the wand, trying to praise Yashi with its little random designs. Then, the eye. More?

"He won't... He doesn't eat other children. Just his own wand, his hand and his brothers building blocks." Patrick grinned at the stunned woman, shoulders rising into a casual shrug.

"So do you have any more sprogglets? Or is it just him?"

Yashi giggled quietly, wriggling at the little swirly happily. The eye appeared once more and his face crumpled in thought - what could he send the little wand?! What of interest?? So, yashi just wrapped his fluffity blue and black tail around the wand and petted at it curiously. His nose wrinkled.

And he sent over the vision of his geisha doll. Pretty!

Kyo nodded, reassured. It wasn't her child she was worried for, really. She didn't want the barb at the top of the wand to go through the roof of Yashi's mouth was all. Now that Patrick had assured her nothing of the sort would happen, she let it go and turned to his next question.

She seemed to consider, calculating. "I have twenty-seven, him being the twenty-eighth," She informed the man. She didn't seem to notice the extremity of that at first, but when she did, she helpfully added, "They're all in and out, though. Most of them are grown. The number of those I care for at home constantly is... four, counting this one." All grown up? And yet she only looked about twenty...

The wand-dweller dropped the word as soon as it was presented, for it did not understand any of it. There came a rather curious blue scribble, as if it didn't know what quite to think of the doll. Was this another being in the world outside? Very odd...

An outline of Yashi's picture was etched, followed by the eye. Were there more like him outside? The outline of his wand came too, followed by that haze of purple, then Yashi's outline. Was he, the purple haze, Yashi's wand? Of course, this could easily be misinterpreted.

The classroom relieved itself of its final student and Kyo was finally left alone to think. Or sleep, rather. The teacher had passed out five minutes before dismissal and now snored into the hard wood of the desk below. Honestly, nothing but a narcoleptic would be able to sleep on such a thing.

Flickers of the past she never knew danced in colors and sounds through her dreams, and glimpses of the future were only briefer. She watched them all, remembering nothing. Suddenly, a small twinge presented itself in the back of her mind, rousing her slightly. It was like a sort of pinch to the brain, and she'd been recieving a lot of them lately.

With a small murmur, the woman felt herself come around, pushing her fingers through the thin sheet that seperated her from reality and yanking. He head lifted slightly, drawing the dark curtain forth to irritate her eyes into shutting once more.

It came again- a harsh pinch to the brain. What the heck was it, anyways? It wasn't going to let her sleep, whatever it was, which was fine with her. She needed to start heading home...

She reached for her bag idly with gloved fingers, hoisting it up onto the desk. The flap at the top was disturbed, falling open to reveal the contents just before the whole thing tilted over. Pens, notebooks, and school standards flooded out onto the desk and, following them, came the wand she'd been trying to hide for days now. In the world that everyone saw, it was as it always was but now, in her mind, it had some sort of sinister glow to it.

How long was she going to avoid telling her housemates about it? Why did she hide it? Was she ashamed? Was she... afraid? She hadn't touched it with her bare hands since the first day she recieved it- just kept those gloves on all the time and kept the wand hidden in the bottom of her bag. It was... totally selfish of her, wasn't it?

It really couldn't be all that bad, could it? After all, that kitsune child had just giggled all the time he'd held it and showed no sign of fear. Apparently the thing messed with her head alone. What if her fear to accept it was holding it back from growing? Shouldn't it be some sort of wisp by now? Hopefully all those supplies hadn't smashed it or something...

She was drawing the glove of her right hand off finger by finger, trying not to think about the situation so there was no chance of hesitation. The glove finally found its way to the desk and the now-bare hand was slowly reaching for the somewhat-forgotten wand. The closer it got, the more the aura around it seemed to spark.

Nothing came at first as she set her pale fingertips upon it but once she had her hand around it, everything began to be put into motion. This time was different. Instead of those sudden flashes, it was as if she were slowly being drawn into a warm bath. Her eyes fluttered, then shut.

Nothing in this place was vibrant at all.The scenery around her was dim and dark, so much that everything would blurr should she squint. Not that she'd want to- it'd probably interest her more to keep an eye on the odd, two-legged creature bent ober onto all fours. It was one of the many creatures surrounding the long shape of an Illithid. As if sensing her, the squid-like thing whipped its head around. As it did, the slaves near it did so simultaneously, staring with the whites of their eyes and their mouths agape. Oh, my god...

Gone. The scene didn't even produce a lasting buzz. She was now standing in a room... that looked oddly familiar, watching as a tall, humanoid figure reached out with pale fingers and gripped the sides of something. A mirror? It was a large one- big enough that you could see your full profile without having to stand all the way across the room. Who was this? However, when she took a step, the scene flickered again.

Now she was staring up at a rather portly little girl, who chattered away in a language she didn't understand, but did. She paused for a moment, before glancing down at Kyo... or whoever's eyes she was looking through. Wait. Why was she looking up at this child? The dwarven girl chattered again, and once again she did not understand. But she did.

"So, what do you think?"

She was back to the room. The long, black humanoid figure was closer now. She could almost reach out and..

Another child, this time a boy, was laid out before her. Knobly, puple fingers pressed firmly against his temples. Was he dead? No, his chest was moving with his slow, sleep-induced breaths. What she was really concerned about was the crowd of angry bearded people with picks and shovels, swarming towards them both. And, yet, she felt at peace...

It was a male figure from what she could tell. Her neck strained to see over one of his shoulders while her hand tried to move him. The hand coming down on the youth's shoulder was an medieval ax, arching through the air down towards her.

Where? Where was she now? She was sweating, heaving in labored breaths. That meant she was back. In visions her stomach wouldn't curdle like it did. She lifted her eyes towards the wand, squinting. How much more did it want to bother her with? Usually, when she touched objects of particular significance, it showed a few important scenes of the owner's past. This one, however, had shown her a few clips of the distant future, useless as they were.

Kyo blinked slightly in surprise, watching as the aura around the wand pulsed a swelled, swelling until it conformed into an abstract figure bent over the top. Was this what Patrick had meant when he said the thing would take on a smokey form? What if it was only her that could see it? She had to get home and find someone more coherent...

The chill of the library did not bother her at all. And even if it did, she would dub the temperature worth it to be among the shelves of books. Kyo wandered among the various aisle, her dark blue eyes scanning for nothing in particular. Sometimes she came here in her free time just to walk. And if someone found her passed out on the floor with a book in hand? They'd probably leave her to it and not make such a huge deal over it like other places did.

Okay, so it really wasn't wise of her to let the sleep overtake her when she was following behind her students downstairs for lunch, but she couldn't help it! She'd warned the school of her health condition but still they let her teach so long as she carried pills around with her.

As of late, though, she hardly felt tired. Whether it really had to do with the wand she kept in her messenger bag was unsure. She just knew that whenever she was tired and felt the visions of times that once were licking at the corners of her eyes, all she had to do was tap the impaled skull of the wand and it went away. Now she walked along with the flap of the thing open, where she could easily access it. That and it gave the little purple wisp at the top some room to float around.

"Shiniee?" Iamel was curious, peeking around the bookshelf with a beam to his face. The little bird thing flounced around the library, dragging the pregnant, dark man behind him. Yashi was toddling along beside them, giggling and using his wand as a little cane.

"Tousan~" The kitsune squeaked curiously, fingers rising up to twist in the older mans jean, tugging slightly. "Tousan?"

"Hmm?" Patrick, distracted by his eldest, glanced down at Yashi with a little smile. "Yeah, small fry?"

Yashi hesitated, nose wrinkling up. "...watage~"

"No, sweetheart. I'm 'tousan'. No watage around."

"Watage!"

Ahiru drifted along behind Stray, wondering what the red-headed angel could possibly want in this area that felt of must and age. Of course, she couldn't really tell why the other did most things, even to why she bothered to cook. And now she had to follow the crazed woman as she looked around a bookshelf at a hugely fat- Ahi could almost say he was pregnant- man, a multicolored boy thing, and a kid with kitsune ears.

"You know him?" she asked in an annoyed tone as she peered around the bookshelf as well- it would prolly seem weird when a voice came out of thin air. There was no response from Stray, but the angel's amber eyes were alert.

Soulless things could be so weird. Especially Stray, who still acted like she had a soul. But redheads, seventh sons of seventh sons, mother-like figures, mages and some such ilk were the only ones who could see her. Ahiru sighed again. If the man was pregnant, maybe he wouldn't start yelling about a ghost, like the last place Stray had gone had.

A belated response from Stray sent the ghost-like woman jumping. "Yes, I think so." Her voice was quiet, almost whisperish. "I'm not sure."

Bloody Anubis
There came from one of the rows of books a soft, startled cry. Never would she stand on her tip-toes and try to pick up a book again. No, next time she was getting a stepping stool. So what if she was tall for her age?

Sibuna found herself on her rear, in a daze, with several books strewn across the floor and clumped in her lap. She was only trying to get the thick book of 'myths' and, damn, had she ever gotten it. Right to the forehead was where she'd gotten it!

"Uhh..." Soft brown fingers ran themselves through her dark curls, messaging the scalp and her temples in attempt to make the headache pass. Inside of her mind, a voice was scolding her for the incompetence she already knew she had. Sibuna sighed, looking around. Had anyone seen her? She certainly hoped not! And thank the Lord she'd been wearing jeans today and not her characteristic skirt.

Her nails scraped across the covers of the various books as she piled them in her arms. Fine. She'd read them all and compile more knowledge than she had originally planned to, that was all. She glanced up, however, at the sound of some foreign language coming from the other side of the shelf. Curiously, she pulled some of the books out of the shelf before her and peered through.

Faeyas
Books.

Books.

The room was enough to make Ari pause on her way from the gardens and Nephy. She was supposed to be going back to the car, to take Artemis home...but one little stop in the room filled with books wouldn't cause anyone much harm would it?

She looked down; Artemis was still sleeping soundly, Ari smiled.

Rooms filled with books were naturally quiet. The soft pages made their amount of noise, so powerful to those who could hear that a hush would fall over the right person in their presence.

Ariel was such a person. Books were, in a way, A large part of her life. She had no idea what she would do without the books she had read. Holding Artemis in one hand her other gently caressed each book on the middle self as she passed, memorized.

A sound snapped her out of her trance and as she turned the corner she saw what appeared to be a gathering of people.

Not just any people, Ari thought to herself, more Guardians!

not sure how to approach, and certain that yet again, her entrance would be muddled with noise or falling or something clumsy and embarrassing, Ariel simply set Artemis on the table, and gently pull her along it as she approached the group, a smile on her face.

She stopped, out of the corner of her eye there was a book she had not seen for ages! "Secret Country!" she shouted, forgetting to be quiet, and realizing, that yet again, she had given herself away. Face to palm, Ari hoped she wasn't red.

Artemis slept quietly in her carrier on the table, taking no notice what so ever.

Kyrianna
"Must find!" Coailiann complained to herself, wandering around the vast library. She couldn't quite read yet, but she figured the pictures in the book she was looking for would be good enough. She would, eventually, maybe ask Patrick to teach her.

...Whenever she saw him and Yashima again.

"ARGH!" she growled, trailing her finger along the row of books in an attempt to find something that looked like a book on harps, "Why is reading so hard?"

It wasn't as if anyone could h--What WAS that? Giving a little jog to the end of the book shelves, she peeked out to see the other people milling around. Oh! Guardians! Several looked vaguely familiar and...was that Patrick?

"PATRICK!" She screeched, bounding out towards him, her long white hair blowing around her and the breeze her movements made causing her pink dress to flutter around her.

...She needed to go shopping. Badly.

Wouldn't her Pat be proud when he saw her?

Unfortunately, she ignored everyone else.

NinetailedNightmare
Watage? Kyo blinked slowly at the sound, trying to figure out where she'd heard the word from. And then there came a girlish squeal that gave her the exact answer she was looking for. Ah, Patrick. Was the same pregnant man she'd met in head-quarters really here? Well, if he was, that'd be a pleasant surprise...

She stiffened suddenly, however, upon feeling a rather sharp pain coarse through her shoulder. The babe that she had been carrying around for quite some time now had begun to get irritated and now glared up at her with a set of glowing golden eyes and bared teeth. Kyo gave Zetsu a soft rock and a short coo, but it only seemed to ruffle him more.

They wanted to be put down. Now. Who cared if the place was foreign? It was full of hard objects perfect for chewing on. Good for ripping and tearing and...

Eating. Maybe those things around them now were eatable? They were also hungry, the two beings than inhabited the body of this scrawny little baby with mismatched skin. Kyo needed to get them something to eat, not talk to them. They'd been cooed at and talked to enough. Now it was time for some..

Destruction. Now. Let us down!

But Kyo would have none of this. Instead, she simply reached into her bag and drew out a pacifier and inserted it into the baby's mouth. That'd hold him off for a while. Hopefully.

Her eyes found another female down the aisle, except this one was on her rear and had probably taken a nasty topple while Kyo's mind was wandering. But really... what was she doing looking through the book cases like that? "Excuse me... Do you need help?" A gesture to the books. She only had one hand, sure, but she'd still be willing to help.

nozomi_ga_kanau

Patrick screamed, like a little girl - like he had been screaming when he first came along his eldest child. The pregnant man ducked away from the girl who was SO very intent on tackling his rather large body, hiding behind the small frame that was his oldest child.

Iamel yelped and was instead the one hit by Kay. The redhair clashed rather well with that white wig that Kay was wearing and he went tumbling to the ground with a screech.

"What teh ********!?" The bird yelped, writhing, trying to free himself from the sidhe. "SHINIEE! What the ******** was that?! GOddamnit!"

Patrick just shook his head, nose wrinkling. "She DIVED at me! Kay!"

"Kay?" Yashi squeaked out, wide golden eyes turning to the sidhe. "Iiiya! Watage! Ahhi watage!"

Vocalization
"I wouldn't want to know him." Ahiru grumbled, shaking her hair out of her eyes as the other woman got the most owl-faced 'gasp bad word' look she'd ever seen. She (Ahi) drifted down the hallway- the better to hear this chat, which promised to be interesting- with Stray trailing after her like a puppy.

It was kind of creepy in a way. "Ahiru~..." Stray said in a half-whining tone. "Slow down." She was practically trotting after the other, hands linked together tightly. "Ahiru!" she repeated, when the other stopped right behind Patrick, getting a slightly crafty look. The invisible woman tapped him on the shoulder gently. "S'cuze me. I can't get to my book." In case he could see her- effectively ruining the prank- she pointed upwards with the hand still resting on Patrick's shoulder to a fantasy novel a little beyond Patrick and Iamel.

Bloody Anubis
Sibuna jumped at the attention from the woman down the row. And she'd thought no one had seen! Oh well, too late now... However, as a scream erupted through the library, she looked back to see the flailing man and his child.

Whadda bad chile. Usin' Satan's words to do his angry wordin'. I tole you you shoulda brought dat holy water down here whicha but you jest dun listen to me...

Sibuna ignored the voice, making a small cross over her chest before she turned back to Kyo. "I'm sorry ma'am. I dun wanna be troubling your or anything. I just took a bit of a tumble. Nothing too bad." However, she did offer the woman a book so as not to be rude in some odd way.

She feared for her wand suddenly, which rested on a table not too far away among piles of literature. The little purple thing piqued her interest as well, but she bit her tongue for the time being. It looked like Miss Kiarna's and Mister Daniel's wisp as well as the one that had recently developed over her own wand. Maybe it was one of... /those/ things?

Faeyas

Ari was being looked at. Great she caused another scene. With people offering to help her, she was greatful that she hadn't caused as great a scene as the pink girl who had seemingly ran over to the Man, who looked ...big....

The boy beside him kept mumbling, she listened closely and almost didn't believe her ears.

She smiled at those who had spoken to her, "I'm fine, sorry for the scare." she grabed the book, sat it down beside Artemis, who thank gods was still asleep, and walked over to the boy. She kneeled in front of him.

Her eyes were serious until she squeeed, " Ah kami-sama! Kawaiii Chisai Kitsune san!" She smiled brightly, "Watashi no onamae wa Mason Ariel desu." She seemed pleased, and relaxed, and almost overly cute speaking in one of her better known languages. She pointed generally twords the girl, whom the boy called 'Watage' "Onanako desu ne?" She asked, slightly confused. "Demo, Sore wa ona ga sukoshi watage desu na... Demo demo, Watage ga hanasenai ii desu yo. Ne, Chisai-Kitsune san?" She covered her mouth, " Aaa gomen! Chisai kitsune san wa onamae ja nai no ne...Onamae wa nan desu ka?"

She smiled at the little boy with the fox ears and tail.

Kyrianna
Kay blinked as she crashed into Iamel, giggling foolishly as she rolled off him and sat, squat on her rear, in the middle of the floor, "Patrick! Look! Look at me!" she giggled again and stood herself up, green eyes glittering proudly.

See, she had grown! Then she heard Yashima and her smile simply brightened, "Yashi!" she moved over to him and picked the toddler up, hugging him and nuzzling at him, "Hello there my kitsune!"

The young girl had switched to gaelic, the musical words floating from her lips.

The sidhe didn't seem to pay any mind to Ari, pulling her best friend close and cuddling before she sat down. It seemed that the little girl finally realized she, Patrick, Iamel and Yashi weren't the only ones in the room and she decided to be polite and let the lady she'd never seen before talk to Yashi.

She simply nuzzled into his neck, listening to the language she didn't understand.

NinetailedNightmare
Babbling in... Was that Japanese? The toddler in her arms shifted and grumbled at the sound of it, understandably. Kaze -one of her adopted children- spoke a variety of languages, but it was Japanese that seemed to be the neon-haired teen's mother tongue. Now that it was being spouted beyond the wall of books, she could understand the child's unease. Still, he was pacified, and that was all she was concerned with as far as he went.

Kyo took the book from Sibuna delicately, tucking it under her arm. She could see the woman's stare direct to the purple apparation floating around her bag and simply ignored it to an extent. If the woman asked, she'd explain, but otherwise she didn't feel up to rambling. "Where would you like this?"

Gaelic? Wow, okay... Now Kyo turned her eyes to the bookshelf and squinted. In response, several colors in the obscure shapes of humanoids appeared, alerting her as to every mood. Patrick was startled, perhaps a little bit frustrated. There were three smaller forms with him- children, she supposed. The calmer color would be what she took for Yashima, but she wasn't quite sure. There were two adults near Patrick and... oh, my. One was touching him from behind. Was that really such a great idea?

Quote:

Yeah, good move. Stand behind a spazztic, pregnant black man and talk into his ear. She was lucky his water didn't break right there and hell broke loose. Instead, the dark male gave another loud yell, hand flashing back to smack at the invisible little thing behind him. "What the ********?! GO AWAY!" Sure, he had no clue but...this was Gaia. Anything was possible in Gaia.

Yashima just stared at the girl talking to him in Japanese. He understood a good deal of it and he talked to Youko a little in it before but.... The fox just whined deep in his throat, pushing his fingers against Coailianns skirt. She would protect him. Wouldn't she?

Something. Either way, he shook his head, pointing a chubby finger at the Japanese-speaking girl accusingly. "Geel." He spurted out in the closest thing in English he could muster. Girl. Girls were bad to him. Bad girls.

Vocalization
Despite the fact that Patrick had hit her pretty hard, the "invisible little thing" was laughing her a** off, occasionally saying "ow" and pausing to rework her jaw to where it was supposed to be, then collapsing into apocalyptic attacks of giggles again. "That was great!" she managed once, while trying to place her jaw back into its sockets for the fourth time.

"That was kind of rude, Ahiru." Stray said, crossing her arms and staring at the girl who was still laughing hysterically. "And he just told you to go away, didn't he?" A muffled response from the floor between giggles. "I think he is technically your elder, even if he's not your mother." Another response, this time grumbled. "You do have to listen to 'im. He's older than you, and was polite enough about it." Ahiru looked up at her balefully, saying something about being treated like a child. "Well, playing pranks like that, maybe you are a child."

Bloody Anubis
This was scary. If you happened to be some religious valley girl who was taught voices without a body were either angels or devils. Sibuna was. And from the way the female? was cackling, she was almost sure it must be the latter of the choices presented. She nearly bumped her head on the shelf once Kyo took the book.

"Oh! Ah... That table over there with all the books... There seems to be couple of those. Just follow me." The dark-skinned woman pushed to her feet and wobbled, teetering upon stilts for legs as she walked towards the tables. She paused upon seeing a sleeping Artemis and smiled to herself. She'd do her best to set her books down quietly and get out of Kyo's way.

Then she turned towards the group, who she could see and be seen by clearly. She wasn't going to be noticed unless she made a lot of noise, or made any sudden movements. "Thank ya again, Missus. What's that little 'un there?" What's his name, that was. She didn't really care to know what sort of thing was supposed to be half black and half white. "Did he come from that wand you have in your bag? If you don't mind me asking..." She glanced to Darva's wand and pressed her fingers lightly to the wood while the green wisp at the end floated here and there.

Faeyas
Ari looked a little confused at the boy "Geel-san? Kowaii onamae desu ne.." She decided the little boy was done with talking, even before she had started. "Saa... Mata ne Geel-san." Ari bowed and nodded to the man and girl around the little kitsune. "My name is Ariel." She explained, not sure if they had understood the conversation. "I just came in to see the books and now that I've seen them I better get going, I'm late as is." She nodded at the group and politely excused her way over to Artemis. She smiled at the lady near the girl.

Artemis had been sleeping, and for this Ari was most grateful... now if only she would remain sleeping for the car trip....

Ari left the room of books and down the hall until she was back in the shop again. Ari sighed, left the shop and went to her car. It was going to be a long drive.

"No... I don't mind." Kyo began, then seemed to flinch slightly. The little runt of a baby had spat the pacifier out of his mouth and was now proceeding to wail. It was an odd sound, with what sounded like two pitches. "He's not. The one that is to grow... from the wand is... right there. That purple-" She was cut off by a searing pain in her left shoulder. Zetsu was at it again. He wanted to leave! He wanted to go now!

The wail had started up again and the pain in her shoulder left to throb. "I'm sorry." She apologized to Sibuna, leaning down to pluck up the pacifier. "I need to get this one home to his father." The book was set on the gestured table before the woman left, swaying as fast as she could towards the exit with screaming child in tow.

Diary,

Today, Ebony found the wand. It's not as if I expected to be able to hide it forever. The child will have to grow soon. It's just that I didn't want anyone to know until it was a secure solid. This house is... well, quite hectic. The wisp would not last long in this place should it be discovered early on.

I guess it's alright, though. Ebony promises not to tell anyone- especially Kaze. I love that boy, it's true, but he's a bit too hyperactive for this little one. He might swing it around and end up scrambling it accidentally. Then what would I do? Zetsu would try and eat it if he knew about it, that's for sure. And Kaze isn't the best at keeping secrets. If not to his children, he may let it slip to Talis, whom he believes is his friend.

Talis... I don't know. He has grown and matured, but he is still a jealous creature. I can't trust him not to sabotage this child's growth before he hits a solid. Ebony is a caring person, and I am sure she will keep her word. I just hope she will refrain from touching it when I am not present. While she is the more pleasant one in this house, she is also the most curious.

There is a curious thing I have discovered in the wand. Whenever I am touching it, I do not feel weary. The disease that had been set upon me no longer has as strong of a grip. I wish I could say that I no longer have to sleep, but this is not so. My body is still weak, and I often find myself drifting off to those visions.

There is a strong sense of ESP in this one, I know. I have read that in the Illithids are known for their powerkenetic abilities. It scares me a bit. So much power... I will have to keep a careful eye on him when he is born. I will have to mold morals into the child so that he will refrain from using these powers like he must have before. And when the day comes that he can overpower even me, I will have a satisfaction in knowing I have taught him wrong from right. I just... I'm just sorry I cannot truly influence which path he will choose in the end.

Kaze is now asking for me to take Noza out for some sun while he works with Zetsu. I suppose I will use this chance to go once more to the Head Quarters and socialize.... or whatever.

NinetailedNightmare

She'd been awake for the whole day now and that was no ordinary feat. There was something about this wand that kept her watchful and awake. At least, that was what she assumed was the cause of this odd behavior. Kyo had been clinically narcoleptic as far back as she could remember, which wasn't really that far but...

Her eyes were clear of their foggy setting, dark blue and unbecoming among such pale features. They watched idly as the fish in the garden's pool mingled in a calamity of color, blinking every now and then. Despite her lack of sleep, however, she was still without a lot of energy. And so it was on a stone bench she sat, playing sentinel to both the inhabitants of the pond and the wand in her hand.

Atop the skull that ended the wand, a purple wisp wavered, leaning towards the most intelligent mind in the area, which happened to be Kyo at the moment. But it was used to her. Anything remotely smart that came along would easily gain its attention.

Rune Traverse

"FISHIE!"

"Yes, Cassi, there are fishies here." A short, blue-haired teenager grinned wryly as she stepped into the garden, pushing a large stroller literally filled with infants. Most of them were humanoid - if angel wings, tattoos, fangs, a demon tail and blue hair were human - though the two on the end were very obviously dragon children, one black, the other a mottled blue-and-white. It was the black one that had spoken, gazing avidly at the fishes with wide, mismatched eyes, one blue and the other crimson. Excitedly, she wriggled, tailtip twitching as she tried to worm her way free of the stroller straps. "Fishieeee! Pway wif fishie?"

Rune sighed, gently petting the round ball atop the wand wrapped and anchored on her hip. She hadn't exactly intended to bring her entire younger brood - six infants and two dragonets weren't exactly calming - but she'd found herself temporarily without a babysitter today, so she'd taken the chance.

NinetailedNightmare
Kyo perked at the exclamation, turning her head slowly in the direction of the child-ridden Rune. Oh my... The English teacher shifted where she sat, tugging her sleeves unconsciously down over each shackle-laden wrist.

"I assume there's a child from this place somewhere?" She implored softly, arching a brow. Made her feel a lot better that most of the ones she babysat were almost fully grown.

The wisp perked at the new arrivals, leaning towards Rune and stretching to its fullest extent. Many minds! One particularly bright among the group. That one must be the leader.

Rune Traverse
Rune looked up in surprise, not having noticed the garden's occupant, then grinned and nodded. Reaching into her belt, she withdrew the little wand and held it up. "This is Shane." She explained. Eyes flickered happily at the little whisp. "I'm Rune, and these - well, hang on a sec."

Tucking the wand carefully in the top of the stroller, she knelt and deftly untangled the little black dragonet from her position, setting the child on the ground. About the size of a large dog or a human toddler, "Cassi" squeaked gleefully, skittering on all four feet over to see Kyo. "Hi! Who?"

NinetailedNightmare
The woman stared quietly at the wand, though a small smile twitched at the corners of her lips. "It's a male. You already knew?" She asked curiously. When the little wrym was set loose, she didn't move, merely moved her head down closer. "She wont bite too hard, will she?"

Her own raven-colored hair cascaded downwards, dangling before the dark dragonette's face. "Nice to meet you Cassi. I'm Kyo." She lifted her wand slightly, allowing the wisp to be seen. "And this is... well. I haven't decided on a name for him yet. I'm waiting until I see him in a solid form. That's... a pretty curious wand you have there, Rune." Like hers wasn't.

Rune Traverse
Rune laughed. "She doesn't bite. Does give sloppy kisses, though." She grinned and unhooked the blue-and-white dragonet. "I assumed it was a boy, but I wasn't entirely sure. I figured if it turned out to be a girl, Shane could be short for Shalayne. So what's yours?"

Cassi, meanwhile, giggled and set both front paws atop the bench, nuzzling her small, serpentine face toward the wand and whisp. This was cool - and someone she'd never met before! Her tail twitched. "Pretty."

NinetailedNightmare
"I think I could handle those." Kyo replied with a smile and a wink. She watched as the second one was set free, reaching her fingers out cautiously to stroke the top of Cassi's head. "Mine? It's a male, I'm sure. A.. 'Mind-Flayer', also known as an 'Illithid' from what I've read."

A pause. It was a rather menacing name, and the species in which it categorized was nothing to spit at. Hopefully Rune wouldn't let it detour her. "What is yours?"

Meanwhile, the wisp leaned into the nuzzling, reaching out stubby purple arms to set upon Cassi's snout. She probably wouldn't feel it.

"Don't sneeze, or breathe through your nose." Kyo warned, lips tightening a bit in her worry. She didn't know what would happen should that wisp's form be disturbed by air.

Rune Traverse
(Damnit! Stupid post munching. *tries to remember her earlier post*)

"Shane be one of the wee people of the Emerald Isle." Rune couldn't resist the joke, voice accented well with Irish tones. Grinning, she added, "He'll probably be a merry prankster, this one. Cassi, be careful."

With a chirrup, the little girl dragonet lowered her head until the whispy arms were resting up near her eyes, safe from her careful breaths. "No hurt." She squeaked softly. "Ispie pretty."

"Whispy is pretty." Her blue and white brother agreed, nodding as he settled himself near Kyo's feet. He grinned up at the woman cheerfully. "Whispy like brother?"

NinetailedNightmare
"Ah..." It was a joke, clearly. The muscles in her face were used to being slack and without emotion other than her squinty grogginess. Still, she managed a small smile, placing a hand over her mouth to suggest she was hiding laughter. It was funny, she just couldn't... She needed a little more time in the waking world. At least now she wasn't nodding off when someone was trying to loop her into a conversation. She fingered the wand at the thought of this, but it soon escaped her mind like most things did.

"A leprechaun, then? Sounds like you're going to have your hands full." As if the poor child already didn't! She glaced to Cassi and her brother, nodding. "Yes, he is... I suppose. He's a boy. And he comes from a wand. What's your name, child?"

The wisp continued its search of Cassi's head, patting at her temples though emitting no force at all. It tilted its form to the slightly at the presence of a new form of intelligence, leaning for it and reaching.

"How long have you had your wand?" Kyo finally asked, before her eyes shifted to the side. "You didn't see a little brown-haired boy on your way in here, did you? He has spider appendages on his back. I was supposed to be watching him... but he decided to go play hide-and-seek without asking me first."

Rune Traverse
Rune grinned. "I'm used to it." She assured Kyo cheerfully, nodding toward the brood with a faintly sheepish expression. "There's at least twice this many at home. I tend to adopt kids quite a bit."

"Wots of bwofers an sissers." Cassi nodded, giggling at the movements of the little whisp. The little blue and white dragon grinned happily. "I'm Julian." He introduced himself with a gleeful tail twitch. The small infant Rune had just let out gave a laugh. "Julian, an me Oro Oro." His blue hair stood straight up in spikes, and blue eyes danced cheerfully.

"Horo Horo." His mother translated with a slight shake of her head. "And - no, I don't think I saw a spider child. What's his name?"

NinetailedNightmare
"Oh, really?" She lifted a brow slightly, her body now attempting to lift itself. "I have a... fondness for children myself." She had about twenty-eight humanoids to watch over, after all. "A pleasure to meet you, Julian. You look like a strong one... Horo Horo... Never heard of them, sadly."

A metallic clicking sounded and, for a moment, she paused to adjust her sleeves again. "His name is Nozami. I doubt he'd come if you called him, though. He doesn't... really like strangers. He's a shy child." The woman sort of drifted forth, weaving around the two dragons with a lazy sort of movement. The wand was pocketed, though the wisp still reached for the little minds it had been taken away from.

"I'm going to go find him. Would you care to look or keep an eye out for him?" Her eyes flickered down to Julian and Cassi. "I could use some good noses for this job. Or a good runner. He's fast. Any takers?"

The teenager lifted her brow slightly, jingling the piercings set there with the action. A woman had walked in long ago and shuffled about for a moment, then passed out in the aisle. Nevermore sighed softly, closing the novel she had been reading and straightening in her stool. This wasn't going to be any good for business and, more importantly, a bad mark on her paycheck.

"Hey, lady." She implored softly, prodding the woman slightly in her side with a sneakered foot. The woman seemed to shift slightly, groaning. "Yeah. You're not allowed to sleep there. Please, miss. If you don't get up, I'm going to have to have Necrofarious drag you out."

Not that Neco would ever do such a thing, but his name was quite intimidating. Besides that, her friend never really ever checked in for work. Something to do with who he lived with. She preferred not to think of it. "Lady?"

"I'm up." Kyo slurred softly, rolling over onto her back so she could stare up at the storekeeper. Purple hair in pigtails with skull barrettes- how cute. A baggy shirt covered the skin-tight, striped adornments beneath. And she was in a skirt. No resemblance came to her mind upon seeing this one, so... She was lost again, wasn't she? "Where am I?"

"You're in-"

"Oh, no... I remember now. I'm sorry." Kyo hoisted herself up slowly, grabbing at her fallen bag. She hadn't been quick enough in grabbing the wand to keep herself from passing out. "I... think I need some assistance."

'Obviously.' Nevermore snorted in her mind, but nodded to the woman. Kyo could clearly see the teenager's annoyed aura as well as a mingling one of worry. Her thoughts were also present in Kyo's more or less alert mind, but she refrained from commenting. She didn't like to give herself away, after all. 'This woman is a nut-case. What the hell is she doing passing out in the middle of my break? How come Neco gets to go out and ******** his boyfriend while I pick up the slack here?' "How can I help you?" '...find your way out of this store?'

"I was looking for a book."

"Mhm..." 'There are way too many books here, lady. You're going to have to generalize. How about a little wicca? That lame excuse for a craft seems to have a spell for everything. Could help you not pass out in the middle of stores?'

"On ESP." Kyo offered, turning her head towards the rows of wares. Skulls decorated the place and it was quite dark. Somewhere, incense was smoldering.

Nevermore arched her brow casually, but nodded. "Right this way." All the psychic s**t was lumped in one corner, she remembered. Next to the tarot cards and the crystal balls.

It wouldn't be too much longer before Kyo was actually at the purchase counter, peering down at the book she had in hand. What she couldn't teach the child, this should help with. It was the best one she was able to find out of the load of crock stored in the back.

"Thank you for your purchase." Nevermore drawled, setting the woman's change in her hand when presented. She didn't even notice how Kyo blinked so oddly at her. Blonde. This child was once a blonde, she surmised. It was one of her given powers- to be able to touch various things and see how they once might have been. It was why the vision from the wand had come to her.

"Thank you..." She managed to mumble, tucking the book in her bag next to the wisped wand. "You have a... pleasant day, Emily." The woman drifted towards the exit, ignoring the indignant and harsh stare set to her back as she left.

NinetailedNightmare
It was the second time she had seated herself upon the stone bench located in the garden of the HQ. Still, she was drawn in and absorbed by the vast expanse of it- so much so that she wouldn't notice how two of the children at her side -two boys- slipped off into the foliage. In the crook of this young woman's arm lay something that couldn't quite be classified as a child. It was corporeal and very, very purple. Looking at it from the side... holy s**t. Was it some kind of squid?! What the hell was it?

The woman seemed to be ignorant to this fact and ran her fingers delicately over the fringes of the creature, perhaps a bit absently. At her side, scanning the garden with mismatched green and red eyes, sat a green-skinned teenager. Her head was tilted upwards slightly as a sign of superiority, and the way she held herself with her leg crossed delicately over the other suggested she thought of herself as nothing less than regal. Every now and then her stare might slide to the dark-haired woman beside her and the babe craddled in her arms. And every time she did, a sort of smug sneer crossed her face. Kyo was going to have one ugly baby was what she predicted. And she would still retain her place as the most beautiful in the house.

The baby ghost seemed to be ignoring all the people around it save for the one that was currently holding it. Its tiny arms embraced its morbidly-crafted wand possessively, and leaned into Kyo in the same manner. Those little urchins skittering around was of no real interest to it. It had already fed on their mental frequencies. None of which were poweful enough to give a response.

Faeyas
Ari carried Artemis in her carrier back through the portal of HQ and down the long hall way to the gardens. She wanted a nice place that made Artemis calm for her to be able to practice crawling. As well as her secret hope that there would be other children about for Artemis to play with. A child with no friends was a sad one indeed. So far Artemis had played with ghost-lings, wisps of existences tied to the wands they were born from. One had made a good impression on Artemis, but Ari had wished for Artemis to meet other children, whom she could touch.

The gardens were great and beautiful as they had been the time before when she had visited. In a strange nostalgia Ari had made her way over to the river side where she had met Neph. She was about to stop when Artemis gave up a cheerful shout and started to wave her hands towards a stone bench a little ways off. There were children. Ari smiled and made her way over.Hello there! she called and waved, a smile on her face.

NinetailedNightmare
Kyo perked at the greeting, turning a lazy sort of stare towards Ari. She'd seen this woman before, but she could not recall where it was they had met. Had they met? She didn't think they had. Then again, her memory wasn't always reliable. Why else would the other wave at her in such a friendly manner? Maybe she was just friendly? Letting the thought go, she simply raised a hand in reply and attempted to push her features into a smile. "Good afternoon!"

Beside her, Noelle gave a soft snort before offering the woman a sweet smile. In her oppinion, this baby wasn't a real looker either. This made her feel all the more better about herself. Was this place a nursery for ugly babies? "Oh! What a cute baby!" She cooed, studying Artemis from afar. Was it a boy or a girl?

"Oy." With a small blurr of emerald, a boy would step himself into Ari's path. A devilish grin cracked across the child's face -he couldn't be more than ten or eleven- as he stared up at her and the child. "You look like a smart, comely young woman! How would you feel about investing a few dollars on a future celebrity?" A small hand reached out to her, expectantly. Upon his back a pair of green wings quivered at the sound of money, curling their leathery material even closer to his shoulderblades to still the motion.

Faeyas
There appeared to be many children, which explained the exhausted look on the womans face. Ari smiled at the girl who complimented Artemis then looked down at the boy. She considered how to deal with the boy who had already learned how to swindle common folk for their worth, and got struck with an idea. She gestured for the boy to follow her over to the bench, where she pulled out Artemiss blanket and sat the baby girl on it. Artemis began to crawl around as Ari faced the boy. I have something better then money for you. She put on a big grin, hoping to gain the boys attention, and curiosity. Now movie stars have everything done for them right? Well that seems like a great waste of such talent, as yours. Might I suggest business as a goal? You get all the power, wealth, and control of a star, but you dont have to wake up early or memorize lines, in fact most of your work would be done for you. What do you think? Ari picked up Artemis and bounced her on her knees. Since Artemis had started crawling she had begun to enjoy such movement, and Ari, who wanted Artemiss muscles to develop as they should, had no objections. Ari enjoyed playing with Artemis as she waited on the boy to decide his fate.

NinetailedNightmare
The boy cocked a brow at her as the woman began to spout words at him about business. Business? His nose scrunched in response to that. Still, he followed after her, making a gesture to the flowers behind him as he did. "I think I'd rather have the money at the moment, ma'am. Even a business needs money to get off the ground!"

"Avarice, you should leave the lady alone." Advised another boy, who had slipped from the flowers that had been previously gestured to. "She just came to sit in the garden. She probably didn't plan on spending anything." This boy was about the same age, if not older. He himself gave a warm smile to Ari and Artemis, golden eyes sparking with some hidden excitement.

"What is her name?" Interjected Kyo, giving Avarice a very steady look. In the meantime, the little ghostling in her arms wriggled, turning its squid-like head towards the more solid child of the wand. Someone new to feed on? An experimental psyonic wave was sent towards the moon-child, which might cause a small twinge of pain or woosiness if her mind wasn't suited for it. If it was, there would be a small flash of purple haze. Hopefully it didn't get lost along the way. This was the only way the little thing could communicate besides reaching out for the new minds, which it was doing now.

Faeyas
Ari chuckled, and winked at the older boy. She knew what she was doing. Of course, and do you know how Businesses get money? She said to the younger, They make it, through effort. Of course asking is a big part, but why dont you do something to gain that money instead of asking innocent people for it? She hoped the boy would gain a good lesson from this. The woman seemed to call to one of the boys, so Ari simply ignored it as screams of bloody murder; loud enough to make you want to cover your ears came from Artemis as she quickly vanished.

Artemis whats wrong with you? She turned Artemis around so that the baby would be facing Ari. That is, if you could see her. Ari used her touch, and her memory from when Artemis had done this before to cradle the child against her chest and rock her gently. Shhh, there there Artemis Im here, dont cryBefore coming to the Garden Artemis had eaten, her diaper changed and was fully rested, Ari had no idea what in the world had gotten into her, or what was wrong, and this scared her.

NinetailedNightmare

The child had snorted to the comment, knowing exactly what she was playing at. He wasn't exactly /that/ stupid, after all. He wanted money, and her avoiding him with what he believed to be stupid reasoning was just pissing him off, though he kept a clever smile in place. He would have responded, but as soon as he opened his mouth, the kid the woman had in her arms started to squall.

Kyo blinked slightly at Artemis... or the lack of her, rather. What was wrong with her? As if knowing, she lowered her gaze to the babe in her arms, who wriggled again. It was dissapointed- or so its aura read.

"Do you have something that she could focus on? Like a pacifier?" The woman offered, urging her voice to become a bit louder so that it might reach the distraught parent. The children she had brought flinched, the greedy child snagging his brother by the wrist and yanking him off. The teenaged girl clasped her hands over her ears. The woman figured she might be able to help with the headache with her own powers, but wasn't about to exert them unless it was absolutely necessary. Maybe if Artemis just had something to distract her, she might calm down. The ghost wasn't very powerful, after all. The headache should pass after a short time.

Faeyas
I do but while shes invisible and crying she doesnt like things going into her mouth, I might place the pacifier in her eye for all I know. She rocked Artemis as she thought over the suggestion, something to focus on. She pulled out the stuffed wolf from the basket and waved it in front of Artemis as she carefully held the baby with one arm, her head well supported. Lupus wants to play with Artemis; does Artemis want to play with Lupus? The crying continued. Ari wrapped Artemis in her blanket but to no avail, except that she could better see the child. Ari finally pulled out what could be a silver rattle, but was in reality the babys wand. She found Artemiss hand and gently placed the wand into the babys hand, Artemis begun to shake it hard as she cried, and cried, and cried. Ari had no idea what to do.

NinetailedNightmare

The woman gave a soft sound of acknowledgement at the reply, watching as the poor child's aura flailed and shook the wand. She herself could actually see the outline of the baby, ringed in a sort of yellow light that signalled her fear. A soft sigh rippled from her as attempts to console the child failed. Gently, she extended a soothing, mental link that wouldn't even be felt as it slid into the girl's mind. Invisible fingers brushed at the offended spot in her mind, dissolving the message the ghost had sent. Then it too dissolved, leaving the girl only to her fit. The headache should no longer exist, nor throb with lasting power. She didn't try and put the girl to sleep, though she probably could have easily arranged it. That was exerting too much power. If the girl continued to scream, there was really nothing she could do.

Faeyas

Ari was amazed at how Artemis calmed down so fast, the wand surely must have a strong connection to her to calm her down. Artemis slowly reappeared. The wand seemed to be the ticket, but somehow Ari still felt that wasnt all that was going on. Thank you. She said to the lady, for her advice, and something else Ari couldnt figure out. My name is Ariel; this is Artemis, how do you do. She set the newly calm baby on the ground and she immediately began to craw around. Ari raised her hand and extended it to the lady.

NinetailedNightmare

"I didn't really help..." Kyo replied softly, though a small smile of relief quirked at the corners of her lips. The little girl was okay- that was good. "You're the one who knew what to give her. My name is Kyo. This one here is... well, it may be a little early to name him, but I've decided to call him Xerksis." The ghost seemed to perk, as if hearing its name and responding. "This young lady at my side is Noelle. The dark green-haired boy is Avarice, and his brother is Dionaea. They're my grandchildren." Grandchildren? She only looked twenty herself.

"Pleasure to meet you." Kyo agreed, then slowly eyed the hand. A pale palm extended in response, the colorless fingers gripped the other's hand in response, followed by a metallic rattle issued from the silver shackle on her wrist.

"I suppose I'm feeling a little better now that I'm out of the house. I didn't expect to meet someone else today... though it is a plus. Is Artemis also from this place?" Her hand made to slide away.

Faeyas

Yes, she is. Ari smiled; giving a nod to all the children she had just been introduced to. Xerksis is an interesting name. She mused as Artemis came back up to her and balanced her hands on Aris lap, giggling and babbling to be picked up. Ari did just that, and Artemis began to bounce up and down on her knees. Is he from here? Ari figured that the question was fair game.

NinetailedNightmare

"There aren't a lot of common names in our family." Kyo admitted, petting at the little ghost, who only seemed to shift into the attention. "I.. well, I was experimenting with sounds for names. 'Xerksis' was the only name he responded to." Again, the purple, squid-looking baby moved its head expectantly, what looked like tentacles extending from its chin slowly curling upon themselves. "He is from here, yes. He has his wand." She nodded to the oddly-shaped thing with the impaled skull at the top. "Artemis... a moon child, then?" She was familiar with mythology along many things.

Faeyas

Clever and yes, but I didnt name her, her previous guardian did. Artemis continued to bounce hurriedly up and down on Aris knees. What connection does your little Xerksis have? She knew the question was awkward, but it got the curiosity said. Ari, who was normally good with words, found that she was getting worse as time went on with Artemis, maybe she was just getting out of practice.Artemis wanted down and crawled, slowly, but surely over to Noelle and laid her hands on her lap, slapping her knees.

NinetailedNightmare
"She... Oh. I'm sorry?" She offered slightly, glancing to the little girl quietly, face a blank slate. So someone hadn't wanted her or taken proper care of her? Hmm... "Xerksis is psionic. He's from the Underdark." She informed the other openly, feeling no real need to hide the fact from her. It wasn't as if she included that he was indeed a brain-eating squid, after all. Coallian was psionic too, and she was cute as a button. Not that she had really met Coallian or even knew her.

Noelle blinked at the little girl, though smiled and reached out slowly to pet her hairless head. Ew. Kyo was watching her, though, and she knew she'd have to be nice or risk getting smacked into the wall by her father on their return. Talis didn't fool around when it was Kyo she had embarrassed- all of three of the children knew this but some like Avarice had forgot. Then the smarter ones like Dionaea would keep him in check. "Hey there, sweetie. You want to sit up here?" She patted her lap invitingly, cooing at the child softly. Noelle was a brilliant actor when she needed to be.

Faeyas

Artemis climbed up onto Noelles lap; she was pretty and wanted to be pretty too. Artemis leaned against the girl and began to giggle merrily while kicking her legs.Ari smiled at the little girl, Those seem like interesting details. I dont know what Artemis is capable of quite yet, except that she can turn invisible when scared. She explained to the lady.

NinetailedNightmare

Well, okay. This kid seemed pretty charming. She had a good cutesy act so far, Noelle decided, even though she wasn't the prettiest baby. And she was much better than the bratty brothers she usually had to put up with. Experimentally, she flexed the muscle in her thigh in an attempt to bounce her. She seemed to have liked that when she was with Ari.

Avarice began to approach again with Dionaea at his side, cocking a brow at Noelle as a sort of signal before smiling smugly. He liked kids himself if they weren't screaming their heads off, and Dion was even more of a sap for them, he knew.

"She's so little!" Dion whispered to his brother while digging into his pocket. "Hey, Artemis, wanna see a frog?" From this pocket in his jeans he produced a small amphibian, colored a bright shade of blue and dotted with black. A poisonous dart frog- what was this kid doing with one? And why wasn't he dead? He had other frogs with him, but this one was the obvious pride of his collection and was the only one who didn't try and run from him. A soft chirrup issued from the frog as it looked at the company around it.

"Dion, don't let her touch it." Kyo warned softly. "Why don't you show her Earnest instead?" And then she turned her attention to Ari, nodding a bit. "I'm not sure of his capabilities yet, but yours certainly seems like a handful... Is she often scared?"

Faeyas

Very, Ari replied, She is spooked by a lot of things, but for the most part she does alright. She took a glance over at what it was the lady didnt want her grandchild showing her baby, and nearly screamed.Get that away from her, she called, Artemis liked to grab anything put in front of her. True to the work Artemis had indeed reached her hands out while slightly bouncing on the girls knees.

NinetailedNightmare

"The frog doesn't emmit any poison unless its scared, but it still wouldn't be best to touch it." Kyo frowned toward Dionaea, who jumped slightly and immeadiatly pocketed the frog. "That child is immune to poison. He's from a garden much larger than this one- from a venus flytrap, if I recall properly. I apologize- he's not really aware he's different in that respect."

'Earnest' happened to be a rather large, green bullfrog. This one Dionaea held out for Artemis with a renewed smile. "His skin is smooth. Careful. No squeezing." The frog gave a healthy ribbit, squirming a little.

"I think Xerksis is a bit cautious of her after the outburst." Kyo confessed, glancing down to him. "The only thing I know for sure about him is that he likes to be near others." Xerk seemed to realize the other woman's presence and reached out for her with a wispy hand.

Faeyas

Ari smiled, Maybe one day he will come to realize how special he is and help out others, I mean thats a pretty unique talent, being immune to poison. She looked at the ghost-ling who had stretched out some of its corporeal form at her, Im not much of a judge of ghostly cuteness but I bet this little one will grow up healthy if he enjoys company. Ari held out her hand so that the ghost could touch it. Artemis meanwhile was bouncing on Noelles knee and reaching out to pat the bull frog as she went up and down giggling up a storm.
Artemis seems really happy with your grand children. Ari commented merrily at the result of the attention her daughter was receiving.

NinetailedNightmare

"His father says he can do quite a few other things, too. He's a sweet child, Dion. He told me he wants to be a doctor or a scientist when he grows up, but I know Talis won't agree when he finally tells him..." She sighed softly, but smiled as well as she could watching them play. A feathery, cold feeling would announce the ghost's little hand, curling around one of the fingers while its other arm held the wand to it. "I certainly hope he grows up healthy. I'll do my best to take care of him until he feels ready to be on his own." And now she turned her dark blue eyes towards Artemis. "Even though she may be easily frightened in this early stage, I can sense a serenity within yours. Indeed a child of the moon."

The frog wriggled in her touch, giving another croak. Dionaea laughed softly, fluttering the glistening fly-like wings upon his back. "He likes you."

"I don't think they mind her either. She's very charming." Kyo smiled.

Faeyas

Ari took a moment to contemplate the boy who wanted to be a doctor, Hed make a good doctor, plus if its his dream, he should go after it. The boy was very careful and kind around Artemis, there was no doubt in her mind that he had the patience for being a doctor, not to mention a great gift he could bring to it. The children played and a small cool feeling came about her finger as the little ghost-ling held her finger Hello there little one. She said softly, smiling at the little guy before looking up at her own daughter.

Ari just smiled, Serene huh? She watched as Artemis continued to pat the frogs head, she even started to babble a little in her cute little baby way. She wanted to grab the frog but soon found she couldnt and became bored. So Artemis turned around and held herself against Noelle and began to make more baby noises, grinning up at the girl. Ari giggled, yes this is exactly what Artemis needed, other people to interact with.

NinetailedNightmare

"I think so, too, but it'll take some coaxing to get his father to accept it. Bad experiences." She wasn't going to emphasize if asked. She quietly stared at the children, who seemed to be having great fun with one another. It wasn't often she saw them all get along with someone simultaneously.

The wisp turned a little closer to the new mind, moving its head so it seemed to be looking at her. Huh, this one seemed to have some rather pleasent thoughts. The same message was shoved at Ari's mind experimentally. Kyo merely nodded to the woman, glancing to the girl.

Noelle smiled pleasently at the little girl, then glanced to her brothers. "Does she know any words yet?" She adressed Ari, glancing between her and the little girl. She made a small gesture, trying to push the frog away from them. "Maybe she'd like the flowers...?" This place was nice enough, after all.

Faeyas

I know how that is. Ari muttered and then called to Noelle, No she doesnt. Though secretly Ari hoped Artemis learned some words soon. She noticed how well Noelle and the boys were doing with her, almost as if Artemis had known them her entire life. She almost didnt want to break them up, but her watch, which kept buzzing at her, told her there was little choice in the matter. Ari stood up and walked over to the group of kids, reaching down and picking up Artemis who had reached up and shouted gleefully at the sight of her.
Im sorry but we really should be going, weve been here for longer then I wanted. She held Artemis on her thigh as she handed a small piece of paper to the group, If you guys want to see her again just give me a call, Im sure I could use a baby sitter or two at some point. She brought Artemis over to her carrier and settled her in before walking over to the lady and holding out her hand, It was lovely to meet you and your grandchildren and Xerk, she let the little ghost take her hand once more before they left, Hopefully I will see you around again? It was nice meeting you all.

NinetailedNightmare

Babysitter? Well, it would get her out of the house. And maybe it'd give her another little worshipper or -maybe- friend. Noelle looked over the paper and smiled at the woman, keeping the plotting glisten of light from her eyes. "Will do." She replied.

"I'm glad we could meet." Kyo told her, lifting Xerk up so he could nab at her hand one last time. "Hopefully the next time we meet, he will be fleshy enough to play with her. I know he'll need some friends when he comes fully into being." She waved as the woman left, and the shouts of the boys' good-byes could also be heard before they scampered off to cause whatever mischief in the garden they had originally been planning.

Tovar frowned at the display, features and expression dark, lips drawn into a severe line.

The coils of wire and various other jewlery crafting supplies started merrily back at him, at if perfectly oblivious to the fact that they were being rather irritating. Sighing, Tovar consulted The List again.

"Damn Michael, picking up new hobbies left and right. Can't he just get his things..." Mutter, grumble, mutter. Sulk.

Tovar was rather used to running utterly pointless errands, but he had been in the middle of helping Etain with his school work when Michael demanded he go out and get necessary busy-work supplies. Right. Then. Tovar was hoping his prompt response to the demand would mean more frequent lessons in the next few days but...he sort of doubted it. Grimacing, he pulled down a roll of hemp and a coil of silver wire from the shelf, dumping both that and a large tube of glass beads into the basket. Now, he wanted charms or something... By the looks of it, Michael had scribbled a few rough approximation sketches in the margins of the list he'd given Tovar. Squinting at the designs, Tovart endeavored to find some sort of matching metalwork in the aisle - or at least something similar enough to Michael could magick into the proper shape.

He was, despite the distraction of errand running, heavily aware of the stic - uh, wand - stuffed in the back pocket of his jeans. Since he'd gotten it, it hadn't left his pocket for very long (which was honestly probably the only reason Tovar hadn't lost the poor...thing).

"Avarice, put that back."

"Don't get yer panties in a wad, D, you know what I gotta do."

"But that lady saw you."

An audible hiss sounded from behind the shelf beyond Tovar's, followed by a lower. "Why are you so damn loud? That nut you call an uncle is corrupting you. ********. You even have his hair."

The conversation dimmed, and seemed to be quite finished for the moment. A small scuffing noise was present at the end of the display line should he be listening. A child, slightly hunched in his stance, was pacing down the aisle at a rather stiff pace. A grumpy expression populated his features, almost hidden beneath a mop of dense, green curls. As the boy -he couldn't be more than ten- made his way through, Tovar was ignored to a point. His stance almost completely changed at the new display of shimmering things. His shoulders relaxed and pulled themselves back- his walk turned into a sort of casual sway.

He was persued by another green-haired child, though this one had a more radioactive air to him. This one pinpointed his counterpart immeadiatly, and sent him in a bee-line to the other's side. A golden pair of eyes lilted upon Tovar, a shy sort of smile being offered even though the man might not see.

The one with the darker green hair gave the boy an idle sort of stare, grunting. His opposite creased his brow slightly, as if giving an uncertain expression. Then his eyes flitted to Tovar again, then his cart, golden gaze suddenly lighting up with glee. He was at the man's side at an instant, bobbing up and down alongside the stranger.

"Hey!" Dionaea grinned excitedly, showing off rows of serrated teeth. "Are you gonna make bead animals with those?" A pair of semi-transparent wings twitched on his back excitedly, giving off an obnoxious buzzing sound. Was he... some giant fly?

Meanwhile, the other made his way along behind Tovar, using the distraction to run almost feather light fingers over the man's back pocket and gently prod their way inside. Come on... this guy seemed like he'd have something good on him, though what his hand closed on seemed kind of wet. Avarice was going to try to ease the wand from the man's back pocket, not really knowing what it was, but wanting to see if he could get away with it all the same. And if he was found out? Run. Yeah, that usually worked. Little punk.

Tovar blinked, glancing sharply down at the boy. His attention was caught almost immediately, drawn to the mostly-transparent wings for a few seconds before drifting back to the boy's face. "Excuse me? Animals. Uh..." Not exactly. "Well, honestly, I don't know. They're not for me, you understand." No, just an old bitter man with too much time on his hands and not enough work ethic, Tovar grumped inwardly. Even so, the boy's cheerfulness had served to smooth the man's features -- if only temporarily.

"Tovaaaaaar." The high pitched squealy chirp of a call originated from the end of the aisle. Tovar looked beyond Dionaea, a start of surprise streaking across his features.

"Etain! What are you-- when did you dissapear?" He could have sworn the little boy had been with a few seconds ago... But by the looks of it, the unicorn had been distracted in one of the other aisles. In his little hands, Etain was balancing a rather large box of children's art supplies. He'd probably picked it up because the case was made of some sort of glittery plastic. With a determined expression on his face, Etain wobbled to his guardian and the two other boys - one of which was doing something in Tovar's pocket. Weird. He gave both boys a thoughtful once over when he approached, setting the case of stuff down carefully at Tovar's feet.

"What'cha doin'?" he piped up, apparently in question to the second boy by Tovar's back.

"We're getting things for Michael you know thaaugh!" Tovar jumped two feet in the air when he caught sight of the boy, nearly trampling Etain and Dionaea when he came back down. "What are you doing?"

"Messin' in yer pockets," Etain supplied cheertfully.

Everything was going swimmingly. Dionaea had taken his signal to go distract the man -albeit reluctantly- like the obedient brother he was and the victim to seem none the wiser... That was until Etain came tromping along. If looks could kill...

No, kid. Go the hell away. But it was too late. Tovar was freaking on him, and Dionaea was squeaking in what seemed like surprise, but was really a signal to run while he attempted another distraction. The boy could seizure on call in times like these, but with a sudden jerk of Avarice's head, the action was suppressed.

"I want your lent." The thief said darkly, twitching ever so slightly. Dion almost began to giggle, but gripped onto Tovar's cart instead, trying to use it to get higher and get a look at the list.

"He likes his lent, Ava." Dionaea stared at him reproachfully, before his eyes flickered up to Tovar. "You should see the big ball he's made out of our family's lent! It's blue an' silver an'..." He trailed off, attention jerking to Etain. "Does he... fingerpaint?"

Meanwhile, Avarice had removed his hand from the man's pockets and seemed to be scouring his fingers for something, if only to play off on his lame lie. If this didn't prove fruitful, he'd use his power to sap the energy from the man for a moment and run. He was quite sure he could take down the kid if he had to.

Etain smiled broadly, turning his attention brightly to the other boy. "Nu-uh. C'n I, Tovar?" As if to bring the request home, the little boy stooped and retrieved the bright plastic box of paints and markers, shaking it slightly for emphasis and looking up mournfully at his guardian.

Tovar looked slowly between all three boys. Self-consciously, he reached into his back pocket and moved the damp sti--uh, wand-- from one pocket to the other. There was probably a dark splotch where the condensation had seemed into the denim, he thought darkly. He tried to ignore it, shifting slightly to put his back to the rack of crafting supplies. "We can talk about this later, Etain. -Where did you two boys come from, anyway? Is your...mom around or anything like that?" It seemed strange that they might be running around all by themselves. How old could they possibly be? Probably not that much older than Etain.

"I have a cousin who'd love-" Dion paused slightly, eyes widening at Tovar. "Are we in trouble?"

"We dun have a mother." Avarice supplied, eyes slowly following the transfer of the wand. Something he wouldn't ever truly be interested in. "What is that?"

"We have a babysitter. A grandma, I think." Dion commented quietly. "But we hid from her and got away." A small smile flickered across his face.

"There you are..." Farther down the aisle, a rather pale woman swayed. Black hair matted over her eyes for the moment, but she made no move to brush them away. She simply slid forth towards the group, gripping a long piece of black material firmly. In the crook of her arm lay a corpereal form, purple in coloring and a bit jagged considering its wispy exterior. The woman didn't seem to notice she was carrying a squid of sorts.

"Kyo." Avarice turned towards her, suddenly scowling.

"Hm..." The curtain of hair moved to face Tovar as she approached. "They haven't been causing you any trouble yet, have they, sir?"

"Avarice was doing it again."

"Shuddap!"

Tovar shook his head quickly, offering the spindly woman a faint smile he no doubt meant to be warm. "No, no trouble at all. They just...surprised me a bit." He chuckled, a rough nervous sound that died quickly. Unconsciously, his fingers found the top of Etain's hair, twisting faintly into the boy's pale hair. Not enough to hurt or pull. More of a head rub than anything - like someone might give a favorite dog or cat. Etain settled comfortably into the head rub, features content. Tovar found it was usually a good idea to distract Etain when he met new people - he could never be sure when the boy would freak out or not...

Even so, Tovar's attention was quickly drawn to the...entity...at the crook of the woman's arm. He didn't realize he was staring until he jerked his gaze up to the woman's face, offering a brief apologetic smile. "Ah, er. Sorry. Didn't mean to stare..."

A pale hand lifted, exposing the shackled wrist of her free hand as she parted the veil of hair over her face and tucked one half behind her ear. A navy-colored eye settled on Tovar before moving along to Etain, then her own. The hand then was held out, palm facing outwards, towards the boys that seemed to be under her care. Dionaea moved immediatly to this gesture, hopping off the cart. A smile was given to Etain before the boy trotted towards her. Only Avarice stayed behind; rebellious.

"They have that effect. Especially this little one here." She moved her hand fondly over the boy's toxic green hair, which was spattered with purple splotches. Still, she kept her eye on Tovar, Avarice, and Etain.

"No, it is alright... This is his effect on others." A lazy, dismissive gesture with her free hand was given.

Meanwhile, the little head turned towards Tovar's general direction, what seemed like tentacles reaching. "We're sorry to have been in your way... Avarice."

But the boy wouldn't move, glancing between them suspiciously. "Who carries a wet stick around with them everywhere?"

Tovar glanced uneasily between the three -- four, that thing in her arm was definitely a someone and not a something --. Etain didn't seem to note anything quite so suspicious as Tovar's gut instinct did, though. Rather, the fair haired, bright eyed unicorn offered all of them a bright smile as he chewed lightly on the corner of his thumb.

"Hey, missus - what's on yer arm? Is it gooey?"

So much for tact. Tovar winced slightly, clearing his throat. In an attempt to overlap Etain's questioning, he looked quickly to the second boy - Avarice, was it? "It's not a stick," he corrected absently. "It's a wand. Supposedly there's someone inside it." Or something like that.

Kyo blinked slightly down at Etain, lips pursing at the question. However, her normally dead eyes seemed to spark with laughter her tired body couldn't muster at the moment. Cute. He was cute. "It's a little boy, just like you."

"Someone inside it?" Good thing he hadn't managed to touch it for long, then. Avarice could suck the life out of the wand if he so desired, though he probably wouldn't. He glanced to Kyo again and her wand. "Like Xerksis?"

"...Did you... receive that wand from a woman named Ianna, then?" Kyo had never heard of spirits coming from wands before. The thought of coming across another wand-owner was enough to make her suck up her silent embarrassment and linger a little longer. She wanted her charge to come into as much contact with others in the same situation as she could manage. This man seemed a little shaken and awkward -this was what she interpreted his aura color- but not hostile.

Etain eyed the gooey thing in the lady's arm suspiciously. It didn't look like any boy he'd seen before. His little face scrunched up into a slightly sour expression, lower lip pouting out slightly in serious consideration. Well, if she said so...- she was a grownup, and grownups usually told the truth, right? Except for Michael anyway. He said mean things and lied sometimes; like when he tried to get Etain to stuff his head in the cookie jar because there was a prize at the moment if he could...

Tovar hadn't been happy about the big hole his horn had left in the bottom.

The man's fingers closed on the wand in his back pocket, a startled expression streaking across his features. "Yes - that's right. Ianna from the wand shop. He's..." Tovar hesitated, eyeing the 'little boy' in the woman's arms thoughtfully. "It'll turn into that?" It seemed somewhat insensitive to think of his own wand as an 'it' or a 'that,' but Tovar just couldn't wrap his brain around someone living inside the stick. Not yet, anyway; not enough to give the person a diffinitive sex, even if Ianna had said the soul inside was male.

"...I don't know. I'm supposing yours is... a different race than mine." She had ignored Etain for the moment. The little unicorn didn't really believe her, but she wasn't troubled. He was young- he'd learn not everything was as it seemed and that things took time to change into what was considered 'normal'. The two kids with her didn't really believe Xerk could be anything more than a monster, either.

"May I see yours?" She asked, gently rocking the ghostly child when it tried to wriggle towards the new minds not too far away.

"He's a Kelpie," Tovar supplied absently, not entirely confident with what he was saying. Ianna had told him that too, but... Shrugging, Tovar carefully pulled the wand out from his back pocket. What could it hurt, right? By the looks of it, the woman knew what she was talking about, even had the same kind of...child? Besides, if she tried anything, Tovar was fairly confident he could take her.

The wand really didn't look like much. Just a long, slightly knotty stick with bits of river grass hanging off it. The only physically interestesting trait of the sti--wand--was that it wouldn't stay dry. Tovar had tried to, but fifteen paper towels later he'd decided it just wasn't worth it and it wasn't fair to the environment to keep trying.

"A..."

"What's a kelpie?" Asked Dion curiously, though quieted as he was patted again. Generally, Kyo didn't like giving out Xerk's race, but this man seemed to be in the same boat of 'evil' races. She craned her head a bit, searching for something with her eyes. "Male, but you knew that. Soon, you will probably achieve a similar stage to this... But I really have not seen any other wisps aside from mine. They've all been children, which... mine will be soon."

Kyo had a few nasty tricks up her sleeves, but she wasn't planning on snagging his wand. She wasn't that sort of person. "Mine is... an Illithid. A Mind Flayer. That's why he looks like this... Do you know what those are?"

Tovar pursed his lips into a thin line, glancing to Dion regretfully before his features bloomed into a careful smile. "It's...a magic horse." Etain glanced up, elongated ears pricking slightly. "Like'a unicorn?"

Tovar floofed the hair behind his ears and murmured something noncommital in response, raising his eyes back to the woman. Honestly, he had no clue what an Illithid was. Michael would probably know, Tovar mused; not that Michael knowing would help him at that precise moment. "No idea. I'm afraid my study of...races has been a little limited." At least he'd heard of Kelpies before, though; Tovar couldn't ever recall hearing something similar to a 'Mind Flayer.'

Redd Vengeance: Dion cocked his head slightly, considering the idea of a 'magic horse'. He was satisfied with the answer, though, as he made no more comment about it. Instead, he simply smiled towards Etain, friendly by nature even though he allowed his much more malicious brother to push him around. The other boy looked soft! Next to him, Avarice gave Tovar a barely-concealed look of disbelief.

"Well, it's something of a..."

"Slimy squid!" Dion interjected with a grin, obviously not at all grossed out by the concept. "Lookit! Tentacles!" As he pointed roughly towards the whisp, the baby ghost reached out with its smoky hand and nabbed at his finger. However, it still turned its head towards the newcomers, sending a few psionic waves the child's way first.(c)

Redd Vengeance: What was more or less shoved at the little unicorn with no teqhnique whatsoever was an image of purple smoke, and nothing more. However, it might come at the cost of a small migrain. Maybe it wouldn't quite reach the other or simply bounce off- that had happened a few times. It was simply a test, for the ghostling was eager to send pictures or images to someone ever since it had been spoken to in its wand stage. Of course it wouldn't consider if it would hurt anyone in the process.(d)

Tovar blinked, watching the slow, undulating moment of the creature neatly clasped in the woman's arms. "A squid, huh?"

"Tovar," Etain squeaked, burying his face into the young man's thigh, tugging slightly at the hem of his sweater. For a moment, the chestnut haired man brushed the call off. The little boy probably just wanted to talk about his paints set again. Etain was getting understandably bored with his guardian talking to so many strangers at so many hours of the day - it certainly seemed to happen quite a bit as of late. He was fully ready to inquire further on the spirit's state until the unicorn tugged at his sweater again.

Frowning slightly, Tovar glanced down. "What's wrong, Etain?"

"My head hurts," the little boy muttered into the fabric of his jeans. "It's all foggy and stuffy in their and it makes behind my eyes ache."

Tovar suddenly felt remarkably guilty for having ignored the boy. Carefully, he floofed Etain's hair in a clearly hopeful matter that it might make the pale skanned boy feel a little better. He did like his hair played with... It didn't seem to help though. Frowning further, Tovar glanced to the woman and her children.

"I...I apologize; he's never done this before. Maybe we've been out too long. You know how kids are."

Dissapointment was a feeling the little ghost did not know yet, but it knew its message had not conveyed itself. That was fine- there was still one more new mind left! Perhaps they'd be able to entertain him a little. Just looking around now had become boring to it.

"You got a headache?" Dionaea asked, eyes suddenly alight. "I've got something for that, I think..." And he began to dig in his pockets excitedly, quite ready to play doctor.

Kyo's expression shifted ever so slightly, keeping her gaze away from Xerksis at all costs. At least Etain didn't burst into screaming tears like the little baby had when Xerk tried prodding at their mind. She could fix the headache without exerting any force, but she refrained from reaching out to the boy. Only if he really started crying would she help, but until then she kept her ability to herself. Perhaps it'd fade away after a bit...(c)

"He's fakin' it." Scoffed Avarice unhelpfully, eying Etain while Dionaea begin to pull all sorts of things from his pockets. "Dion, band-aids aint gonna help..."

"No?" Dion frowned, shoving a rather large frog into Avarice's hands. "Maybe you should let him get a nap, mister."

Xerksis had finally gathered up enough power to send out another message, shoving it this time in Tovar's direction. Kyo had known what was going on, but she didn't dare mention it was her child that was causing the little boy pain. 'Oh, yeah, he makes people have headaches sometimes.' Like that wouldn't be enough of a reason to stay away from him. She didn't want the child to be lonely even before he came fully into the world.

"Yes, I understand. It's quite alright- at least he isn't throwing a tantrum like a few little boys I know... It is really me who should apologize to you. Will you... head home?"(d)

"No, no," Tovar assured her, smiling faintly. "I'm sure he'll be fine, right Etain?" Truth be told, he wanted to stick around a bit. He really wouldn't mind finding out a little more about this Mind Flayer creature. Etain's headache was a little worrisome, but Tovar was willing to be it might be fixed by a trip to the park and a good lunch. He did stoop and retrieve the paint set that Etain had laid out across the aisle floor though, tucking it under one arm.

As he straightened, Tovar winced slightly and bit the inside of his cheek. That was strange... -Starting, he looked quickly in the direction of the infant-shaped cloud of fog. He could have sworn - but that was ridiculous. His head throbbed, suddenly plainful between the temples. "Actually," he said at length, clearing his throat slightly. "I'm beginning to feel a -a touch light headed myself. Perhaps it would be a good idea if we did get going."

Navy-colored eyes took in the two's visible auras as they shifted and dotted themselves with discomfort. They weren't lying- not that she thought they were. As Tovar looked towards the wand, Kyo almost started, but managed to plant herself firmly. Did he know? As if feeling the gaze, the spirit turned its head towards the man and twitched its four astral tentacles in smooth succession.

"I think it's time we made a journey home as well," Kyo announced softly, reaching out and lightly smacking Avarice's hand away from a display shelf with surprising agility. "Before these two get in any more trouble. It has been a pleasure meeting you, Tovar. Etain."

"We havta go?" Avarice whined, looking towards the man he had previously tried to pick-pocket. Dionaea beside him made no protest out loud, but worry was clearly etched onto his features. Kyo seemed to be in no mood to humor the sin's protests, nudging the boys gingerly in the direction of the store's entrance. She spared one more glance towards the other two before sliding after them, holding the ghost and it's wand closer to her, as if she could shield the others from the psionic powers with her body alone.

This is beginning to become a problem.

At first, I thought maybe it was just something he'd do every now and then, but it has begun to become a routine exercise. I guess it all started when we met Yashima and the two 'spoke' to one another while Xerksis was still confined inside of the wand. Now he has assumed that, perhaps, everyone is able to speak to him like this.

Of course, this is not so. Humans in general have minds built like a functioning machine. This machine is 'perfect' in its craft and not usually accepting of outer forces. Those that have a development in the psionic craft are a bit different- their 'machine' is capable of much more, though whether it is really an epidemic or evolution is widely argued. It's beyond the point. These 'extra' things... we'll call them 'extension chords' and 'outlets'. There are outlets for others with this 'gift' to extend their extension chords to and it shouldn't take much of a toll even on an inexperienced psychic unless the connection is open for a good amount of time.

Now, of course, you can establish a link between yourself and a 'normal' human being, but it is more of a complicated process than it is given off as. When establishing this sort of communication, you need to actually create and outlet in the person's mind. Don't worry, it's not a permanent growth unless you make it so (which is difficult and painful for the other) and it will fade away as soon as one stops exerting their will. A good deal of concentration is needed to maintain the link as well as speak and receive through it in this instance.

Now, back to what Xerksis is doing. What this child is doing is nothing short of shooting an 'extension chord' out at random minds and stabbing into the mental states of assumably innocent bystanders. Thus a painful migraine is born. I don't believe he comprehends that it is hurtful for others to do so. If he has met any other psionic users aside from Yashima and I, I am not knowledgeable to it. I usually monitor what he is doing... unless I fall asleep.

Now Yashima. He's a special case, I've noticed. There are some individuals with a great amount of will that can push thoughts of words or images to others. In this case, it is like throwing water in a general direction. If there is any psionic power to be had within an individual, one could say that their mind is like a sponge. If not? The surface (mind) is not affected, but there may be a... sensation, if you will. Xerksis had absorbed the information given to him by Yashima, and I did as well. Messages like this are easily intercept-able and dangerous were one trying to send something private. A lot of thoughts are this way, too. It really all depends on the 'absorbency' of a mind- the strength of one's psychic power.

It can easily be said that Xerksis is going to be powerful when he grows up, but right now he is hurting people with his gifts. I don't know what to do. If I were to intercept anything he sends out, I'm scared I might affect his growth. I hope this doesn't continue, but I don't know how to explain to him that he should stop. He responds to pictures and knows a few, simple words.

Passerbyers turned, feeling a wind swoosh past, seeing a whirlwindy-blur fly by.

...ZOOOM.

There was also a black smudge being dragged behind. Who was, of course...Kierla. Aricia was tucked safe under the cloak, whining in Kierla's head in protest.

In the wake of the dustdevil, walked very serenely a girl in purple.

Finally, the whirlwind ceased, and Kiarna stopped, panting, in front a store. "FIRSTSTOP~nyu!" she screamed, causing more people to stare. "TOYSTORE~nyu!"

Oh, salvation, please come.

'DEMON!'

Sibuna squeaked as the woman nearly collided with her, throwing up a pair of mahogany arms in her flinching. The voice that was a constant nag in her head continued to screech warnings of devil spawn and heathens, which had been really what she had squeaked over. Sometimes that voice just really got to her.

A pair of soft, gray eyes took the group in warily between her shield of arms. "What in God's name..." Oh...kay.

Without thinking, Sibuna quickly back-stepped, lowering her arms slowly. She'd almost clubbed that poor -crazed was more like it- woman with Darva!

Said green wispy wiggled impervious to the danger upon her staff-like wand, letting off a smell that wasn't unlike cinnamon. However, the newcomers wouldn't have too much time to look, for the woman quickly spun about and darted into the store. Good thing her poor little Daemyn was at his karate classes! She wouldn't want him to be scared by the too-cheerful woman. Maybe she really was possessed, as the inner voice chimed. Then again, that was always what that voice was going on about.

[fontcolor=later]It was a massive store, and one could easily get lost in it if they didn't know where she was going. Luckily she had an escort to help her out. Well, she did have one. Wherever Avarice had run off to... She just hoped the teenager would have more restraint and wouldn't steal any of the plush toys lining the shelves.

The sound of sneakers against the hard, tiled ground were muffled and overrode by the squeals of children the next row of toys over. The newest Japanese importation was here today, most likely. Greed paid them no mind, merely adjusting his leather jacket as he walked along. Hm... Nothing looked interesting as of yet, but what could one expect in a toystore? This were all fluff and no shine here. It was depressing (though it is assured that he wanted all of it).

What wasn't was the fact that the parents that took their kids were probably loaded. And as he slid into the mass of screaming children, his talented fingers shot out and relieved a rather frantic grandfather of his pocket-watch. He didn't have one of those yet. He was about to continue with his raid when something familiar pricked his mind. A soft snarl was emitted as he literally shoved children out of the way while tucking the watch away in his jacket. He'd admire that later. Right now, Kyo was calling him. Damn it. Couldn't she do this s**t on her own? When he took over the world, dammit, she was going to be in big trouble...

He was in the process of grumbling to himself when some black woman ran into his path, waving a stick. "Woah!" He reached up quickly, blocking the woman. "Where's the fire, lady?" A joking smirk. Now... what was that stick? And who was chasing her. With amusement, Avarice informed Kyo in the mind link she'd established that he was going to be a little late.

Kierla blinked. She recognized that woman...and that wand. Apparently it was easier for her mind to remember wands rather than faces. "So she wisped?" she asked Sibuna, without so much as a greeting. Aricia came out of her hiding place, too, to drift over and poke at the wisp.

Quynh, in the meanwhile, had caught up to the group and was now taking in the sight of the toy store. She seemed particularily immersed in a stuffed animal carrying stitched flowers.

Kiarna was confused. "EHHH? You know this woman~nyu?" But before Kierla or any human could possibly reply, she let out one of those loud screams. "EEEEEEEEEEE! AVARICEYOUGREWHIIIIII~nyu!" She grabbed the Sin Shee in a tight hug, whirling him around. "Aradia grew too~nyu!" the girl said excitedly. "Where's Talis?"

It was a little too much for the woman to take. She babbled an apology towards Avarice while clutching the wand to to her chest. When she tried to step away, she heard a familiar voice and blinked.

"M-m-miss Kierla?" She managed, then blushed in embarrassment. She'd been running from someone she knew? Well, she didn't know Kiarna and the woman was quite frankly scarring her. She was busy with the male now, though.

"Yes, she grew... I see yours... changed a bit." She offered mildly and blinked down at the prodding pink wisp. In response, Darva curled out of the way comically, not allowing herself to be prodded. She also seemed to be trembling with mirth.

Sibuna's gaze then fell on Quynh. "Hi, sweety. How come you're bein' so quiet. Cat got your tongue?"

Avarice grinned at the procession until he was suddenly taken in a hug. Something he wasn't used to at all, even with Dionaea. Damn, she was strong! He didn't think he could pry himself out!

"'ey, easy, woman. There's enough Avarice to go around for all you ladies!" He said cooly, patting Kiarna's back before gently prying himself away. His wings were hidden beneath his jacket, but his tail was still visible. It lashed lazily from side to side now, the needle-like tip brushing just above the ground. He didn't even think he knew this woman! However, she must know him, for she mentioned Aradia next as well as Talis.

"Oh yeah?" He asked, tinting his voice with amusement while he adjusted the pair of stolen sunglasses he'd been wearing up his nose. "We'll have to see each-other again, then." Not. If that girl was still crazy as hell, he didn't want to see her... though he did want to fight her. He had a tail to do some neat tricks with now, too.

"Talis?" Avarice laughed, genuinely. "Talis wouldn't be caught dead in here, you should know that. The old man hates to shop, and all of us are teenagers now. Dionaea, me, and Noelle. We don't need toys, so he's got no reason to come. Nah, I'm here with Kyo and the foggy thing she won't let us tell ol' Tali about. Kinda like.. those things." He pointed at Aricia and Darva. "Yeah. You know who Kyo is, right?"

"No need to add the Miss," Kierla said, trying out a smile. It still felt strange, even after all the practice. "Yes, Aricia became a ghost. We are here to buy some things for when the ghost becomes the child."

"EEE!" Kiarna squealed again, right into Avarice's ear. "Dion is grown up too~nyu? Oh, this is so COOL~nyu!" She danced around Avarice several times, not registering the last bit.

Kierla glanced over at her sister, who was still dancing around Avarice. "Don't mind her. She's just a little...enthusiastic when it comes to shopping trips." Then she realized what her sister's friend had said. "Wait. What?" she asked, pushing Kiarna out of the way. "Did you say she has...a ghost thing like Aricia?"

Aricia straightened as she recognized her name being called and floated round in circles.

And of course, Quynh was being interrogated by Sibuna. That's how she felt it went, at least. She looked down, shrugged, then moved on to the next toy on the shelf.

"Right, right." Sibuna nodded slightly, a bit uncomfortable referring to anyone casually. She'd get over it, though... right? Hopefully. The voice was chattering harder than ever now.

'Dat boy be a pool o' sin, I tellin' ye. You stay away from him if you knows what's good for ye. Keep your sinful spirit-child 'way from him too. If you wan it to grow up right, dat is.'

The woman feigned a smiled, moving away from Quynh. Aww, she must be shy or something. How cute. Her attention was also drawn to Avarice, though, as he spoke. "Another one?"

He wondered briefly why Aradia was going through so much trouble to get rid of D's friend from /this/ woman. She was trying to steal this guardian? Jeez. She was almost worse than Kaze. Almost. Kaze would have been climbing on top of him by now. As long as the woman kept her hands off, he could tolerate her. He did, after all, want to call himself the most suave sin.

"Yeah, he sure is. He was supposed to be here today, too, but he wanted to follow Talis to work and keep him company." He hadn't managed to drag the boy with him, unfortunately. Usually the fly was pretty easy to push around, but he'd put his foot down today. Though he had a sweet disposition, that boy could fight like the devil. Avarice chuckled to himself as he thought of /his/ brother. "Nah, it's cool... I've got some pretty hyper relatives."

Both emerald brows raised as Kierla pushed Kiarna out of the way. A small, devious smile flickered over his features. He liked this one. "Yeah, that's right. Forgot his name, but he's purple. Tentacles. I was about to head over there now. Would you lovely ladies care to join me?" He offered smoothly, proffering his leather-clad arms in an escorting offer. Oh yeah, a real lady's man, this one. He didn't really know what the big deal was about this ghosts when /he/ was standing there, but whatever. They'd go see Kyo, and then maybe he could escape once she was accompanied. That sounded like a good plan to him.

Kierla nodded, eyes expressionless despite the usual surprise and excitement that followed when she heard of another wand owner. "Tentacles..." she said thoughtfully. "That is...interesting."

"VERYINTERESTING~NYU!" Kiarna shouted, not seeming the least dazed from her fall. "LET'S GO~NYU! We can have a big shopping trip ALLL together~nyu!" She clamped onto Avarice's arm, grinning broadly. "Lead the way~nyu!"

"Come, Quynh, Aricia." Kierla looked at Sibuna. "Do you want to come shopping with us?"

Aricia flew through the air, shrilling her glee in Kierla's mind, then ran into Avarice's head. Quynh seemed to be walking along normally, until she popped up right next to Avarice. "What's this?" she questioned, snagging the glint of metal peeking out from his jacket. It was the pocket watch he had stolen earlier.

What a lively bunch! Sibuna listened to the conversation distantly, wondering again while she was here. Darva drifted just beneath her nose, emitting smells of honey now. It tickled. Sibuna almost sneezed.

She blinked as she was offered to go shopping and nodded without thinking. "I came in here to get my son something nice while he's at class. Maybe I could get something for this one for later.." She murmured.

Her inner voice squealed its protest, but she slid up to Avarice's side, only touching the elbow of the arm and trying to avoid Quynh. "Thank you... I wouldn't mind meeting this woman." Little did she know, she already had.

Avarice didn't move his head as Aricia smacked into it, merely chuckling. "This one's got some fight in it, huh?" The other one was a brain-sucker. He often had to talk with the thing when he was close to it, but preferred not to. He didn't like those mind things- that was Talis' speciality. He had to begun to move away when he felt something slip out of his pocket. Oh, no no no. That was something you did /not/ want to do to Greed. If he wasn't in the company of these women, he would have smacked the girl hard enough to daze her.

With a surprising display of restraint, Avarice rolled his shoulders casually. "It's a pocket watch. Pretty nice, huh?" The arm Sibuna was holding became a blur of motion and, before she'd know it, the treasure was plucked away from Quynh. The watch was dangled from its chain between two fingers where it glistened silver in the light and showed off all the intricate engravings. "You should ask next time, okay? It's not nice to take stuff from people's pockets." Hypocrite. BIG hypocrite.

That said, the teen placed the pocket watch in his pants pocket and allowed Sibuna to grab his arm again. He lead them through the shelves, following the directions he was mentally supplied with. "Kyo! Friends!"

Kyo turned her head from whatever she was doing, which just happened to be trying to snag a plush animal from a shelf too high for her to reach. She lowered herself from her tip-toed stance, one of her silver shackles banging unpleasantly against the shelf as she did. The woman was clad in a simple pair of black jeans and a purple top. Something exceptionally simple to go shopping in. Her black hair was flicked out of her eyes so she could take them in.

"Kiarna." She'd never forget that spazz of a woman. "And... I'm afraid I can't remember ever being properly introduced to you..But we've met" To Sibuna. Her eyes took in the wisps and she knew what they were her for almost instantly. An airy gesture was made to the shopping cart before her, where a ghostly infant floated in the kid's seat, moving its tentacles out of boredom. At the feel of new minds, its head whipped around to face them- incredibly squid-like in its shape.

A mind message was sent out immediately, targeted for the pink wisp first. If it were prepared to receive such a message, there would be a cloud of purple smoke. If not? Well, usually it caused headaches, but since this one was in wisp form, it shouldn't get there at all.

Quynh looked like she was about to try and grab the pocket watch back, but just backed away, looked down at her feet, and shrugged again. If she protested that could lead to an argument which mean more talking she would have to do.

Kiarna remembered her, from that winter party. She let go of Avarice and grabbed Kyo's hand, shaking energetically. "HI~NYU! HOWAREYOU~NYU!" It looked like she was at the peak of her hyperactivity, judging solely by the amplitude of her shout. Security might start heading over soon if she didn't quiet down.

"My name is Kierla. I am Kiarna's adopted older sister." She bowed formally, then her eyes lingered on the purple ghost. "Don't bother her, Aricia," she said - for Aricia was doing the usual whirling around routine she did when she met someone new.

She stopped immediately, however, when she felt something. She had no mental powers except the link between her and Kierla, so she couldn't quite comprehend; but she felt something. The ghost darted behind Darva, as if the misty substance could act as a shield.

Sibuna started as the boy snagged the watch back from the girl. It seemed like he had some sort of experience with that... Her mind -the one that wasn't crazy- wouldn't dwell on it. Instead, she gave a warm smile to Kyo.

"My name is Sibuna, ma'am. I haven't decided on a name for this chile yet." She felt like she was a bit left out, not knowing all these people. But that was what meetings were for. She shifted slightly, catching sight of the other ghost. It was cute in a sort of scary way. "May I ask if yours has one? And... maybe I can help?" Sibuna was tall- remarkably so for a woman. She'd be able to reach the toy easily.

Darva wavered as Aricia drifted behind her, spinning around and waving at the pink one in a crazy little pattern with her body. Of course, she wouldn't know what Aricia was so scared of.

Avarice narrowed his eyes at Quynh dangerously, the sunglasses blocking it, thankfully. If she didn't think he'd put her in a headlock or wrestle a kid, she was wrong. He relaxed when she backed off, though was really already relaxed. With no one but the kid to watch him, he turned on his heel and began to saunter away... There were things to steal! Money to achieve. He already had a pawn broker who was now a great friend of his.

"I'm fine..." Kyo told Kiarna calmly, not moving as the woman shook her hand. It was a heavy arm, as there was a thick piece of metal on both wrists. The small chains on them rattled as they were shaken. "I see that you are well..."

Her dark blue eyes rested on Kierla and she nodded her pale chin. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Kierla. You as well, Sibuna. I assume I need no introduction and neither does Avarice... This little one is Xerksis." Her head gestured to the spirit.

Xerk seemed pleased enough with the response. No pictures, hm? A simple, warm feeling was conjured up and shoved at both the wisps. One did not have to have mental powers to feel it- it was a vibe that anyone could feel. His form rocked slightly, leaning him forward to touch the safety bar before him. His wand lay beneath him, glistening in all its black luster.

"Would you?" Kyo sighed softly, though twitched a smile towards Sibuna. It'd be a big help if she didn't have to climb the shelves. "I'm here to buy Xerksis something for when he comes into the world. A friend of mine is giving me the crib she used. It's just my job to... get supplies. Is this also what you are all.. here for?"

Unfortunately for Avarice, Quynh decided to follow along. "What're you doing?" she questioned as she sneaked after him like a purple shadow.

Kierla nodded. "Yes, that is - " "BIIIIINGO~nyu!" Kiarna bellowed, interrupting her sister. "We are on mission GET THINGS FOR THE BABY ROOM~nyu!" "As Kiarna said," Kierla continued calmly, nodding again.

Aricia now merely felt curiosity toward this strange new ghost. Who was he, to be able to use the mind so deftly?

...AND the wand was shiny. Oooh.

But Aricia felt a lot safer with Darva, and Darva was currently stuck on her wand. Glancing surreptitiously at Sibuna, Aricia tried to remove the wand so she would be able to go check out the new anomaly AND stay with Darva.

Unfortunately for Aricia, Darva's 'wand' was more like a 'staff' and was large enough to club someone with. Of course, the wood was decorated with all sorts of flowers and pretty vines, but it still didn't change the fact that it was heavy. Aricia might not be able to lift it. Not only that, but Sibuna noticed.

Silver eyes flapped their long lashes at Aricia curiously, a small smile touching her lips. Well, she was going over there anyway. Sibuna walked towards Kyo as she agreed to the help. "Of course! It's not a problem at all!"

Darva wavered as the warm feeling hit her, curious. She couldn't really see, so she merely wavered about as Sibuna walked. She didn't seem to mind Aricia, either. Soon, the staff was set near Xerksis on the cart. "Hope you don't mind..." She went over to the shelf and picked up the plush she though Kyo had been reaching for with a mere stretch of her arm. "This one?"

God damn it... "I'm gonna walk," Avarice said simply. "They don't need me. What are you doing?" He asked her, fingering the half-dollar attached to the chain that hung over his chest. His first treasure ever. He hadn't forgotten it.

"Ah, I see.." Kyo murmured softly. "So yours is about to grow into a baby, too? That's good.. And yes, Sibuna, that's the one." She took the dog from the woman's hands. It was black in color and shaped oddly so its ears were lightning-shaped and a bit longer than they were supposed to be. It was a rather odd plushy, but she set it in the cart. "And that one, too, please."

The next one was silvery in color and had no face at all; only a gaping zipper of a mouth. The two were a part of the set. Xerksis seemed to perk as the wand was set next to him, reaching up to grab the wand with one of his stubby, astral hands.

Quynh shrugged. Apparently, it was a favorite gesture of hers. "Ditto." Her gaze was drawn to the half-dollar, and she pointed at it. "Is that a flower?"

Kierla looked at the stuffed creatures that Kyo had chosen. "You have interesting taste in toys." Then she turned her attention to the three pre-babies. "We should meet up again once the three of them become babies. What do you two think?" It wasn't something she was particularily enthusiastic about, but it sounded like something a good mother might say.

"And Aricia says thank you, Sibuna."

Aricia indeed seemed grateful for her kindness: she was dancing around in the air, merrily turning somersaults. Now she could play with the two Ones Like Her. Curiously, she yanked on one of Xerksis's tentacles. What were these? These were not like her.

Sibuna nodded to the statement about interesting taste in toys and reached for the next one. At the suggestion she paused and smiled. "Of course! I'd be happy to!" She set the plushy in the cart alongside its other.

"She... said that?" Sibuna blinked. Darva had never spoken to her before. It was an odd concept to her. "Well, she's welcome. Darva doesn't seem to mind." Indeed- Darva was swirling curiously around her wand, leaning towards Xerksis. The atmosphere around them would gain a pine scent. That was her signal that she was curious.

"A flower? Hell no. This is a coin. Money." He informed her, shoving his hands deep into his pockets. "You don't have to walk with me, ya know? ...What's your name?"

"He picked it." Kyo informed Kierla simply, beginning to push her cart along. Obviously she meant Xerksis. "It's fine with me... It is fated that they are to meet together once more some day, for they are all from the same place..."

Xerk shook his head as one of the tentacles were pulled. No one did that before! Now that she was so close, her shot forward, clinging to Aricia while the rest of those tentacles moved and crawled over her face and head. Eww!

A silence as she processed the statements, then the girl answered the last sentence. "...Quynh."

"Not in exact words," Kierla amended, "But I'm pretty sure that's what she meant. I suppose after listening to all that chattering for so long, it is easy to understand now. Do wisps make noises?" Kierla couldn't recall Aricia ever giggling or squealing as a wisp, but maybe each one was different.

Kiarna, of course, was just thinking about how fun it would be when they all were babies. "...AND THEY CAN PLAY ON THE SWINS AND WE CAN HAVE ICE CREAM~NYU!" she concluded, not paying a single bit of attention to anyone there.

At first Aricia just did nothing, floating dumbly as the tentacles seethed over her face. Then she tried to squirm away desperately, frightened by the sudden contact. She clung to Darva's wand like it was a raft in the middle of the ocean.

"Oh, I see." Sibuna directed her vision towards the ghostly children, blanching at what looked like was going on. "Kyo, is Xerksis eating Aricia?" She asked worriedly, reaching out for them but then pulling her hand back. She was having second thoughts about touching them.

Darva swayed from side to side happily, stretching down as far as she could when her wand was touched. She tapped her foggy head against the crown of Xerksis', emitting a peppermint smell.

"Darva hasn't ever said anything or made sounds, but she smells. Good smells. They're always changing. I think it might have something to do with her moods, but I'm not for certain." She still eyed the wisps and Kyo, wandering after her when they began to walk. Her eyes scanned to shelves, too, looking for anything for Daemyn. He needed more boyish things. Like a toy sword or something.

"That's a weird name." He informed her simply, eying the shelves as he walked. He wasn't going to snatch anything in front of her. Not yet. Nothing seemed valuable enough to do so. "Whose kid are you? The peppy one or the quieter one?"

"Xerksis hasn't said anything or made sounds, so I doubt it. He can talk, though. Shows pictures. If you get a headache, he's trying to talk to you. He does that a lot. I'm sorry before-hand." She sighed, just sticking that issue out into the open where everyone knew. These ones didn't seem like the type to hate Xerksis for what he was or call him a monster. She was usually scared to tell others.

"Hm? Ah, no. He's just clinging. He does that a lot, too, if you get close enough. No..." She paused for a moment. "I'd say he's curious about whoever is pulling at his tentacle. It's his way of getting to know you..." Why did her child sound like he was going to be a weirdo when he came into the world?

Xerksis clung still, until Darva drifted down and tapped him on the head. Then he let go of Aricia and clung to the other girl instead. Minds! Lots of new minds!

"Kierla," was all Quynh would say. She didn't even acknowledge the vague insult. Hopefully Avarice had been listening enough to know who was Kiarna and who was Kierla.

"Smells as moods..." Kierla said thoughtfully. "And one with telepathic capacity? You two are going to have some very interesting babies." Kierla felt good now. Aricia may be weird considering she was a ghost reborn, but at least she wasn't as weird as these.

-and currently ignoring Kiarna as of now because she's just being unbearably random-

Aricia flew backwards as she was let go, skidding on the ground. Then she drifted back up, chattering angry gibberish that only Kierla could hear. The tentacled one was unsafe to touch directly. What happens if she poked it with her wand...?

Poke. >>

"Yeah, smells. She's an earth spirit, so maybe it ties in." Sibuna shrugged, eying the children as they went about their business.

"Can babies swing by themselves?" She asked aloud, taking off what Kiarna was babbling. "I don't know if icecream is a good idea if they're that hyper..."

Darva tried wiggling from his hold, pulling back up towards the tip of her wand again.

"Do you mind if I use part of your cart for my things?" Darva asked Kyo. She didn't want to have to go get a basket and the woman didn't seem to be collecting a whole lot. "Um.. where are the other children?" Avarice and Quynh were gone.

"Huh. What do you want, anyway?" He took a sharp turn into another aisle, taile lashing in his wake.

"No less interesting then yours might be." She hoped. She hoped the boy was going to be normal... yet knew he wasn't. Her hand reached out again, snagging a teddy bear off the shelf nearby. "I don't mind. What are you looking for? All of you."

Xerk started at the poked, reaching down and grabbing up his own wand while slipping away from Darva. He brought the wand around and knocked the other wand away from him, threatening the pink wisp with the barbed tip and skull. Don't do that!

"Hm? Avarice... is probably getting in trouble somewhere. Usually Dionaea is here to keep him in check."

Quynh kept right with him, giving him one of her infamous shrugs. As of now she was thinking what were the best conditions to grow roses in, and wasn't really paying attention.

Eek! This was fun now - wand wars all over again, just like with Kishi. Although that wand was a little too spikey for her taste. Aricia backed away behind Darva just in case.

"We can help the kids~nyu on the swings~nyu," Kiarna said eagerly. "And ice cream is a MUST~nyu!"

"Anything good for a baby," Kierla replied, ignoring Kiarna as usual. A little vague, but what could she say? She honestly did not know what babies liked and needed and wanted. She stopped before a My Little Pony. "Do kids like these?" To her, they looked a little stupid, but who knew how those minds worked?

Her head shot up as she heard Sibuna's last remark. "Quynh is not here?"
A quick look around confirmed that. Now Kierla was really, uncharacteristically worried. "Do you think she went with Avarice?" she asked hopefully.

Darva wavered, happy to be released. Cinnamon tinted the air with her annoyance, but as she felt Aricia behind her, she seemed to inflate a little. She'd protect her, or that's what she seemed to think.

"If you say so." Sibuna smiled, chuckling despite herself. "Um... diapers, right? Has anyone here had kids before? This is my first baby ever. My first child was.. well, a child! He just needed some clothes."

She glanced around again, as if they'd suddenly appear. "She's probably fine. She seems like a smart girl." A small nod. Her eyes caught sight of the pony toys. "Those are cute. Maybe she will. Children are all different."

"She probably is with Avarice..." Kyo paused for a moment, swaying.

Avarice grumbled suddenly, adjusting his coat. "Don't you think your ma is worried about you? You're still a kid. Go away."

"He's got her." She confirmed, pushing the cart along. "Blankets, crib, gerber food, formula, milk, diapers, change of clothes, baby wipes, thermometer, monitor, baby powder, and changing table." She rattled off idly. "And /then/ you may buy what you think they may want. I suggest a mobile, rattle, or pacifier. Yes, I have raised... seven babies, but none were my own... My own came to me as children. One I adopted as a teenager. This is the forth child I may call mine only."

Xerk lowered his wand as Aricia drifted off, setting it next to him. He then scooted over to Darva's wand and hugged it, content to be there at the moment.

Quynh sighed; he was getting most disagreeable. She pondered what to do: talk and explain, or go away?

Well, she'll have to abbreviate it as brief as possible.

"I'm looking for flowers. Mom said Shee come out of flowers. You are a Shee, so you should know where flowers are, no?"

"Oh, good." Kierla let the relief show for a brief second before pulling herself together and listening attentively, nodding as Kyo listed each item. "Okay. That is a lot of children...you must be a very experienced mother by now." For some reason, Kierla really wanted to say the question she had asked so long ago, so many times: Is that what it means to be a mother? Had she ever asked Sibuna? She couldn't remember, but she didn't think so.

She shook it off. "Where can I get those things? Here?"

Aricia looked on with interest, then copied Xerk, hugging the part of Darva's wand just beside him.

Sibuna blanched as Kyo went on about what they would need. The inner voice hissed out how they were all sinners, but she easily ignored it. "Yeah.." She echoed Kierla, feeling her cheeks hit a bit. They must seem really inexperienced to her. She still took in the information listed with some glimmer of hope that she could remember it.

Darva seemed to look down at the others, feeling them on her wand. The smells of honey rippled through the air that this and she bent backwards and upside down, hanging near them while swaying.

"Ah, here. Maybe she'll like this?" She mumbled to herself, picking up a small barbie doll box. "Little girls like dolls, right? This one's a... ballerina princess?" She giggled softly, shaking her head. Wow.

Avarice cocked his head down at her, looking over the rims of his sunglasses at her with those devious green eyes. "That's right, I'd know. I came from a ball of ivy- not much of a flower. But I'm a bit special. What do you want with a Shee?" He stopped, bending over a bit to face her now. He was curious now.

"I have had many years to learn... And yes, you could probably get the crib, the changing table, and a mobile here. Grocery stores have the food. The diapers are in the hygiene aisle and any supermarket should have them. I suggest a thrift store for clothes- babies grow up quickly. I have most of the things at my home now. All I need are really the toys..."

Xerk leaned over when she clung to the wand nearby, one tentacle reaching out to brush her. A feeling of what was boredom was shoved at her before he looked up and attempted tickling Darva with his tentacles.

"The doll should be fine. If she doesn't like it, you can bring it back." She said simply, reaching out and taking up a child's jigsaw puzzle. "Just toss it in. We can sort it out later."

Great, more talking. Hadn't she talked enough? Quynh rolled her eyes and sighed heavily. "I want flowers," she said stubbornly. She would have said please, but that was an extra word to say that was unnecessary.

Kierla found herself nodding again, then glanced at Sibuna. It felt good to know she wasn't the only one who was a first-timer. "Sibuna, want to go look at the cribs?"

"How do you babyproof a room~nyu?" Kiarna piped up.

Dot. Dot. Dot.

You'd think - hope - she'd know by now, considering all the children she'd adopted.

Boredom. The boredom made her bored. Bored was not fun, and not fun made Aricia grouchy. She whacked Xerk demandingly with the wand.

"Huh?" Someone was inviting her to join them in an activity? "I'd love to." She smiled with a nod, then glanced towards their charges. "Do we need to bring them?" Or maybe Kiarna and Kyo could watch them? Wow... She was the only guardian here whose name didn't start with a 'K'. Of course she would realize something so useless...

Darva stirred at the sudden activity, upbeat and hyper and swirling around her wand like a dog at the end of its leash.

Sibuna paused at Kiarna's question... and left it for Kyo to answer. She, in the meantime, stepped a little closer to Kierla. "Maybe we'll see Quynh and Avarice on the way over there?"

"You can get flowers without Shee. In fact, you're more likely to get a flower than a Shee. We're rare." He snorted, straightening while his amusement began to fade. "Just look around you outside. There are plenty of flowers and weeds. You can't keep them away... Maybe they got somethin' here that'll let you grow a few of your own." He shrugged indifferently, not interested by flowers. He could see Dionaea in this situation, trying to encourage the girl in her quest of finding flowers. Another soft snort. Good thing D wasn't here.

"You two can go ahead, I'll watch the children." Kyo told them without a second thought. She was used to it by now. Her eyes slowly slid to Kiarna slowly, obviously thinking what Kiarna's announcer-text had stated. "Baby-proof... Well, no sharp corners. Keep phone-chords out of the way. Find the plastic installments to seal up your electrical outlets. Perhaps a play-pen would be best, too. High walls so the can't get out. I suggest flat surfaces so they can't climb it..."

She'd go on and on for a while why she continued to push the cart along, not paying any mind as Xerksis took up his wand and whacked Aricia back.

"How's... Mari?" Yeah. The one that kissed her son.

Now she folded her arms. "You're a special Shee. You can get me special flowers." She winced at the word 'weeds', but didn't say anything more, as was her policy.

Kierla stuck around just long enough to hear the first few sentences about baby-proofing then took off for the cribs. She'd have to pick up the rest from her sister later. "Where are the cribs, do you think?" she questioned Sibuna.

Unfortunately for Kierla, Kiarna wasn't even really paying attention to the lengthy answer to her question. She'd have to get it out of a book. Instead, Kiarna was having fun watching the wand battle between the two ghosts (WHACK!). "Mari~nyu? She's good. Although she's been acting reeeaaaallly grouchy ever since that Snowflake Ball. Ya know~nyu? And she's reeeeaaally mean to her sister too~nyu!" Actually it was quite the other way around; but Aradia was pretty good at acting the angel at home.

The waitress would follow the woman without a second glance, trusting Kyo enough to keep an eye on the kids. If it was just Kiarna, she might have been worried, understandably.

"I have no idea," She confessed. "I once worked at a Walmart and they had some in boxes near the furniture. Maybe they'll have some on display here?" She offered.

Darva was content to whirl around the event going on, tugging fruitlessly at her 'wand' to try to join.

"...So you don't have any other children besides Quynh and Aricia?" Sibuna asked, trying to offer some sort of conversation as she kept her eye out for cribs or boxes that looked like them. "They must be near the playpens, maybe."

Avarice was about to tell her that being Shee had nothing to do with special flowers when opportunity struck. He tilted his head back haughtily in an imitation of what his sister might do, smirking. "And what makes you think I'll get you any special flowers? What would you give me?"

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. Aradia, isn't it? The boys have told me about them both. Dionaea particularly likes Mari, as a friend. Of course... Talis is less than agreeable about it." A soft sigh. "But they're old enough to go out on their own now and make their own decisions. Tell Mari I said hello for me?"

Xerk countered the whack with his wand, waggling it threateningly (yet playfully) at Aricia while swaying from side to side. He began to scoot back, inching up Darva's wand. He'd take her prisoner!

This would have been the perfect time to pull out a gun, point it to his head, and say in a melodramatic voice, Your life.

Of course, Quynh had neither gun nor wish to take his life in the first place. "What do you want?"

"Over there, I think I see them," Kierla pointed out past a stack of boxes. "No, but Kiarna has tons. Sometimes I help take them to the park." She stopped before the cribs, already inspecting a bright, neon highlighter yellow one. "What about you? And I think this one might give a kid seizures..."

"DIONISSUCHASWEETBOY~NYU!" Kiarna said, getting more in the shouting mood again. She nodded sympathetically. "I guess so~nyu! Strange it is, when the get older, no?" She nodded again. "Okayokay, I tell her~nyu."

NO! He couldn't take the nice one hostage! Aricia rushed at him, wand held at ready like a lance.

Oh, good. There they were. Sibuna made her way over to the cribs as well, eyes running over the cribs as if she were inspecting a car. Not that she had a car. She was too terrified of them. Great, hulking metal beasts? They were unnatural and unneeded. What happened to walking or riding a bike? People were honestly killing the Earth. She hated the new technology.

Thankfully, they had had cribs in the old-fashioned valley from which they grew up. As long as the things couldn't change into a robot or something equally as wild... she should be fine. The Egyptian woman frowned slightly at the neon yellow crib, shaking her head to herself while she answered. "Ah, she's got a lot of... spirit. And I only have one more child who is a boy. His name is Daemyn. You saw him in the diner, I think. He's taller now. He had to go to a fight class; I don't know why, because he's such a sweet boy..." Daemyn had his mother coiled around his little finger. "Um... that one is pretty odd." She nodded to another crib, which was purple and lined with neon peace-signs and disco flowers.

Darva wasn't aware that she was 'in trouble' yet. She merely rocked and lightly bumped against Xerksis in her blindness.

What did he want? Avarice trembled once, tail pausing in its lashing. What did he want? He was Greed. He wanted /everything/ in this world that was valuable. He wanted the whole world. Not that she could give it to him. The teen grinned down at her, shaking his head. "Your most valuable treasure." There. That should shake her off.

"Yes, yes he is..." Kyo agreed. "And yes, to see them all grow up... It's satisfying, yet depressing. I will no doubt watch many generations come and go. Talis' children are almost ready to be out on their own now, and Kaze's are getting there. One of them, anyway. And yours?"

Hey, no! She better not really be trying to stab him with that! Xerk slipped up behind Darva, clinging to her back while waving his wand at the other. Ha! Hostage! Only Darva didn't know to play along yet.

Quynh couldn't help herself; she started laughing. Laughing, laughing, laughing without stopping. Finally she calmed down to say: "My most valuble treasures...are my flowers."

Kaze...that sounded familiar. But Kiarna didn't put the connection between the spider BtS's father and Kyo, and dismissed it. (XPP) "Lessee~nyu! Aradia's a teen now, Mari's been grown up long time~nyu! But most of my kids are still kids~nyu."

Ah, no! She couldn't stab the precious! Already nearing them and too late to stop running (floating fast?) now, she dug the tip of the wand into the ground and vaulted over them.

She landed with a faint splat sound on a very high shelf, forgot completely about the battle with Xerksis, and started poking a teddy bear with a sticker that said 'Press Me'. Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star began echoing through the store in cheap, tinny tones.

"How old is he again?" Kierla couldn't remember. Did she see him? Yes she did, but she couldn't remember anyways. She never could remember faces. "Yes, it is," Kierla agreed. "What color do you have in mind as your goal?"

"Oh... He's about eight, maybe, in human standards. And he's only getting bigger!" She looked around at the cribs, shaking her head again. "Just a wood one should do. Polished as smooth, of course. Wouldn't want her to get splinters..." Her eyes now ran over a deep mahogany-colored piece, her feet unconsciously shuffling her closer.

"How about you? What color do you think you should get?"

Why did things keep knocking into her? Darva wriggled in protest and let out her annoyed scent of cinnamon, trying to slip away. Something seemed missing now.. where was Aricia?

((Props to Kiarna, whom I definitely ripped most of this from.))

Today, I went shopping to prepare for the upcoming baby, Xerksis. I had not intended to see or be accompanied by anyone, but as soon as I was getting ready to leave, Talis sent Avarice along with me. I'll admit I get lost every now and again, but couldn't Dionaea go with me instead? Or with him? I have decided Talis' eldest is the one that brings out the best qualities in Avarice.

Sin is what that child is- Talis has confirmed it after much talk. It's not that I don't like Avarice, it's just... I don't know how to say this, or write it for that matter. He's predictable. As a teen he has begun to steal things more and more. Is it not understandable why I didn't want to bring him into a toy-store without supervision? When he was a child, I was able to keep an eye on him, but as a teenager he is much more feisty and quick. At least with Dion he'd respect me a little better. Or my wishes, that is. He's never had any respect for me.

Anyway, we went, and I managed to pick up a few toys for the baby.

It's time to fix a place for him to stay. As of now, I believe he will be staying in my room. The apartment here has three rooms only and all of them are occupied. I think we will be moving, for our family's sake. And not only that, I get a bit nervous staying in one place for long. A house sounds reasonable at the moment, but I'll have to start house-hunting and checking the newspapers. Maybe Redd will know where there are some- she's out and about a lot.

Speaking of Redd, she's supposed to be bringing the crib and changing table soon. I'm curious to see if she's carrying any of it herself. Well, I really need to move the bed and make a place for them now before I fall aslee...
