~Part II~ Poke. ... Poke. ... Poke. Poke. Something was digging into her side; a stiff annoying something. The slumbering Green grumbled and swatted at whatever was bothering her. Finally, she recieved a very painful (but very tiny) blow to the ribs. There was a strange, funny thing close to her face and Green shook her head, willing her vision to clear sooner. When her senses returned to her, the first thing she was aware of was the temperatue. She shivered and mentally curse whomever was responsible for the cold. Her short-term memory returned and Green sat up quickly, looking around the room for any sign of the little green haired girl that was Eve. "Look!" The little girl's voice came from behind her and Green twisted to see her. Eve sat cross-legged on the stone floor with the flashlight in her lap and her little fingers were tenderly wrapped around a leaf of brilliant green. "Whatcha got there?" Green asked and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. "A leaf," Eve nodded seriously and then waved her free hand at the black garbage bag that was now very much full, "It was with the other ones. You were in dreamland. I decided to poke you until you came home." "Thank you," Green chuckled at Eve's choice of words and held her hand out, "May I see it?" With a graceful, fluid motion Eve leaned forwards and gently placed the leaf in Green's outstretched hand. "Be careful," the Anima whispered, "Its alive. I can feel it, you know." "I wonder why its not like the others," Green cast a glance at the garbage bag and was thoughtful when she spoke, "After all, it must have blown in with the others through the hole in the living room floor." "Special," Eve nodded and pointed at the leaf. Green frowned at the digit, guessing that it was probably the offendor that had left sore spots on her ribs. "You think so?" "Yeah," Eve nodded enthusiastically. "What should we do with it?" Eve gave her an obvious look and sighed, "Keep it. Duh!" "Aright, alright," Green laughed and stood up with the leaf still in her hand, "You know, you're begining to sound a lot like your big sister." "Yeah," Eve agreed, grabbed the flashlight off the floor and raced up the stairs ahead of her mother. Green followed swiftly, dreading the thought of being alone in the basement without a light.

April 17, 2006 Dear Journal, The leaf Eve found in the basement the other day is unlike any other leaf I've ever seen. That day, Eve insisted that it was special and now, I can't disagree with her. I told Eve that she could take care of the leaf and keep it in her bedroom but the little green thing always ends up someplace else in the house. Yesterday I found it in the living room, basking beneath the shade of one of Eve's plants. Yes, I know, that sounds odd but it was basking. There's no other word for the... relaxed way the leaf sat there. I swear, I even heard a contented sigh. I'll admit that I might have been imagining things... for that particular part of me tends to get out of hand more than I can afford. But, there's no denying the way the leaf seems to prefer darker spaces to lighter ones or the way it's stem twitches ever time somebody picks it up. When Marie accidentally dropped it the other day, my mouth fell open when it seemed to shake with rage and floated (skittered!) underneath the kitchen table. Marie and Nyx agree with me whenever I bring up the leaf's behaviour. It is strange, there's no doubt about that, but marvelous at the same time. The only one of us who doesn't appear to be troubled by it is Eve, who shrugs and smiles this little knowing smile every time I question her about the leaf. "It's special," she insists. I'm not sure if she knows more about it or not. I have a feeling she suspects something... but what, I do not know. Sincerely, Green

May 31, 2006 Dear Journal, I mentioned the leaf's odd behaviour (leafs behaving oddly? What in hell is going on here?) awhile ago and now, its behaviour has gone from odd to completely strange. The other day, while I was busily putting my newly clean clothes in their respective drawers I discovered the leaf amongst the socks, shaking, well, like a leaf. Horrible description. Aye, I have to agree. However; I've no clue how it managed to get in there as I'm always careful to keep my drawer's closed and the girls know that my bedroom's off limitis. It always has been. That doesn't mean that they listened to that rule, though, does it? Children always disobey the rules they deem silly that their parents try to enforce. I suppose Eve might have placed it there, if she believed the leaf wished it. If ever a leaf wished to spend time with my socks. ...Weird... At first, I just stood there and stared down at it. What was I to say or do? A leaf was making friends with my socks! Nyx suggested that I just get rid of it in spite of Eve's attachment. But, the truth is, the leaf was twitching so terribly that I was nervous about touching it. What if it bit me? Ha. Unlikely. It continues even as I sit here now; sides of the leaf drumming an almost silent tatoo against the soft cotton of my socks. What's going on? Confusedly yours, Gee

Tyyne whistled as she made her way towards the home she was looking for. Lena had shown her how to print out a route on the computer and she was simply amazed how easy it was to find everything now. The Eden stopped riding her bicycle and carried a small orange flowerpot and a package of soil towards the front door. At last she attached a letter before she quickly turned around and drove off again.A letter from Eden
Dear Green,
I'm the manager of an institution called 'Eden Project' and I've been informed that you found one of our leaves a few days ago. This leaf isn't possessed, but still a bit freaky : A child will grow out of it. Please don't throw this letter away now, because I can give evidence for this fact. Please come and without our institution in Barton Town and I can show you some pictures and even living Edens, as we call them. For the development of the child it's important to plant the leaf. I provided you with a special kind of soil and a flower pot.
Have a nice day
~Lena [ Please roleplay the planting scene to make your leaf develop ]

June 4, 2006 Dear Journal, I discovered a number of things on the porch the other day when I stepped outside to watch the sun set. A little orange flowerpot and a bag of soil with a note attached to it sat upon my front steps. The mystery of the leaf's odd behaviour has finally been explained! A child is to grow from it, some time after I plant the leaf in the soil and the flowerpot. The note mentioned how odd the idea of a child coming from a leaf must seem, but, if spending the last two and a half years here on Gaia has taught me anything its that children here are not born like the children of Earth. Of course, its possible for a man and woman to meet and do the whole physical thing, but here, children do not only come from a womb. Nyx was carved from a block of wood, Marie was born from a slip of paper and Eve was once a lantern! Come to think of it, I can't believe I didn't guess the leaf's secret in the begining. I'm so glad I was too frightened to get rid of it. Another child! Eeeeee! All the same, I might like to pay a visit to this 'Eden Project' institution and learn a bit more about it once I've planted the leaf properly. ...once I find it, that is... We've gotten off to a good start, eh? I just find out I've got another child floating about the place and he/she dissapears on me! Anxiously, Green

It had been days since Green had found the note from Lena, the special soil, and the little orange flowerpot on her front porch and there was still no sign of the little leaf. She had been eager about finding it and set out on a hunt for the leaf almost immediately after dropping her pen. But, it was to no avail.
After long hours of searching for the leaf and looking after the family she could actually locate Green collapsed onto her sofa with a sigh. She'd pestered her three oldest children for any possible information as to the leaf's whereabouts and only one had been able to prived her with any source of useful information.
"Just keep looking," Green recited the advice Eve had given her with an exhausted and very irritated sigh.
What else could she do?
It was a leaf, for heaven's sake, and she'd lost it! Of all the stupid, irresponsible, pathet-
A spot on the shoulder-high, plastic tree she kept beside the television caught her eye. Had that been a trick of the light? She tilted her head to the side and continued to stare at the spot through narrowed eyes.
No, that leaf had definately moved!
Newly invigorated, Green hopped up and raced over to the tree. Startled, the leaf dropped from its hiding place and tried (as hard as any leaf possibly could) to escape.
The plastic tree toppled over as she rushed by but Green paid it no mind. At that particular moment in time her only mission was to catch that leaf.
"Gotcha!" Green cried victoriously the moment her hand enclosed around the leaf's slender frame.
Panic flooded her entire body the moment she realized the damage such an action could inflict on something so small and, biting her lip, Green slowly opened her hand and let out a relieved sigh.
The leaf was unharmed.
There was a new spring in her step as she made her way towards the kitchen where she'd left the trinkets Tynne had left on her front porch.
The business of planting the leaf was a tad sensitive. It strained against the paperweight that held it in place while Green prepared the flowerpot and then struggled so laborously that dirt flew out of the pot and scattered across the table.
Fortunately, Green's stubborn nature was match enough for the little leaf and, when all was said and done, the leaf reasoned that being planted wasn't so bad, after all.

Group RP: Metaplot Date: June 13 2006 Status: Incomplete Location: A quaint little resteraunt in Barton Town Participants: Green, Belle and Jayuko Green_Eyes It was a quaint little resteraunt tucked inbetween two large, contemporary office buildings that she had overlooked many a time during her travels throughout Barton Town. The young, blonde woman was partly ashamed of herself for never having noticed it. The chairs were the most comfortable things she'd sat in for a year, at least, and Green decided that this had been the absolute perfect stop to make after a long, hard day of errand-running. She cast a sideways glance at the little gold pot and the leaf planted inside it that sat on her table. The moment she'd finally managed to struggle the little green plant into the soil Green had noticed the contented way the leaf seemed to relax. Mere hours later, however, it had bgeun to twitch and strain again. Hoping that some form of new surroundings might refresh and comfort the soul within, she had managed to arrange it so that she could spend the entire afternoon with just the leaf. Unfortunately, her efforts had only made the problem worse. For a moment, her mind wandered to her home where she'd left her oldest daughter in charge. Wishing that she could get back to them, she sighed and looked at her watch. The hands read 12:45. Damn. She'd been there nearly a half an hour and still hadn't recieved any service! "Excuse me?" she waved a skinny waiter over in a friendly manner. "Hmm?" When he smiled his gums showed. "I hate to be a bother," Green told him, "but, might I be able to get a menu?" "Aye," he said with a nod so vigorous that strands of his black hair fell into his eyes, "I'm sorry that you've been waiting so long, miss. Indeed, I saw you come in -What was it? 30 minutes ago?- but I'm afraid we've been delt a rather nasty hand of bad luck." He gestured at the room around him, "We're swamped with customers and TWO of our waitresses haven't shown up for work and a cook slipped on some water. Sprained her ankle bad, she did. Its been a right mess- but, I'll go get you those menus!" The young man was gone so swiftly that Green hadn't a change to thank him. She glanced around the room. 'If anybody else shows up they might have to share my table,' she thought dryly. jayoku Red hair tumbled down the sides of her face and though she had attempted to gather her hair into two large curly pigtails it looked more like a mess than anything else. A notebook tucked into her arm she found this day was going very badly. First she had awoken to find her alarm for some unknown reason how not gone off, thus her morning included one rushed and very cold bath a bite of stale toast and then a rushing out her door.
She was of course late to work because of exceedingly irregular traffic jams and accidents. This just wasn't her day. Now on her lunch break which she had to take late because she started late, she clutched her laptop which was safely nestled in its carrying bag and waited to be seated.
The restaurant was full, another great thing...she tried to convince herself that bad things only come in three's thus after this event got over with things would be better. She stood for ten minutes waiting and waiting for some waiter or waitress or some sort of management to take her name and find her a table.
But everyone was busy moving briskly back and forth she ground her teeth and adjusted her work suit. Her high heels were starting to hurt her feet. With a cough she caught the attention of a young waiter who was quickly walking past her and heading towards the kitchens.
"Excuse me sir.." She started, and though her voice was loud by nature it didn't seem loud enough to really catch the attention of that man. She tried to resist grabbing him and instead said in a louder tone . "Excuse me SIR, but i have been waiting ten minutes to be seated." She knew he voice carried over the chattering drone of the people in the restaurant and she turned several heads. But this was her nature...she could project her voice very well, loud and clear.
The gentlemen halted his movements and gave her a look as if 'Oh god not another one' but moved towards her anyway. He adjusted his collar and cuff before answering her.
"Sorry Miss, but we are understaffed today. And very busy." He said with a gesture to the already bustling restaurant. "Unless you will share a table with someone, I am afraid you will have to wait at least forty minutes for a table." His tone was not reassuring as if all he wanted was for her to leave.
She gave a grim smile, not willing to leave so easily. "I will share a table thank you. And I already know what I want to order so I won't need a menu." she continued as she saw him reach for one. He gave a sigh that sounded nearly exasperated and then waved her to fallow him. He led her to a table where a young blonde woman sat looking equally as annoyed as she was. Though the weirdest thing struck her about the scene a little potting leaf sat in a gold pot directly next to the woman. As she sat down she tried not to stare and placed her laptop bag onto the table top on her right.
But before she could turn to the fellow who had lead her to this table he was already gone strutting off to do some other menial task, she gritted her teeth again.
"I don't suppose you have already ordered?" she asked in a tone that sounded like forced friendliness. "Cause somehow I think it may take a while before I will get to.." she sounded annoyed as her head turned and followed the figure of the young man. She would make sure she got his name and made a formal complaint against him to his manager. Green_Eyes Green looked up from her menus and at the stranger with a surprised expression. She hadn't imagined that she'd actually end up sharing her table with somebody! Green folded her menu and pushed it in the other woman's direction, silently asking if she would like to see it. "No, I haven't ordered yet," she smiled kindly at the stranger and waved at the chair across from her, "Have a seat. Its incredibly busy here. According to one of the waiters, two of their waitresses haven't shown up for duty and one of their cooks sprained her ankle. I feel bad for them... Its the first time I've been here, you know. I was hoping the service would be good." She examined the stranger with a curious expression on her face. A laptop and a carrying bag, eh? "Let me guess," there was a mischevious smile on her face, "Lunchbreak?" The leaf, intrigued by the newcomer, continued to twitch in her pot. jayoku Jayoku got comfertable in the chair and adjusted where her lap top sat and swung her carrying case onto the back of teh seat. She gave a deep sigh like she had been holding her breath the entire time she had been waiting.
"Ah well that would explain why they are so slow today.." she mused looking over the blonde curiously and noticing the leaf in the pot seemed to be twitching? Was that thing alive? She attempted not to stare.
As the menue was pushed towards her she shook her head and stopped it's advancement. "Sorry I already know what I want. I frequant here regularly." she explained her hand twitching to her laptop itching to get so more work done.
"And yes I guess all my stuff gave away that I am only on a break from work." she said idly wondering dryly if she really that obvious. "How about you? I don't recall ever seeing you in the area before. New here?" Green_Eyes "Its unfortunate that bad luck's decided to hit them so strongly today," Green sighed and tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, "This is the first time I've been here... and I was hoping that the service might make me want to come back." She noticed the other woman's eyes on the leaf but refrained from explaining what it was just yet. If the woman really wanted to know she would just have to come out and ask. "The name's Green," she said with a smile, holding her hand out for the woman to shake if she wished. jayoku Jayoku nodded her head and felt awefully thirsty.. why hadn't the guy at least poured them water before rushing off like that? She tried to bridle her seething anger, at the least she didn't want to direct to the woman she was sitting with. She didn't deserve that.
Raising an eyebrow she gave a half smile. "Names Jayoku." she answered shifting position. She didn't normally wear skirts but for some unfathomable reason she did today...she regretted it.
The awkward silence grew..."Yah well the service isn't usually so bad here..." she trailed off not knowing what else to bring up as a topic..."Um...nice leaf you have there." she said pointing a slender manicured finger towards the golden pot. Green_Eyes Green was a bit surprised when the woman didn't shake her offered hand and with a shrug, she folded her hands and set them on her lap. The smile that was often present on her face hadn't dissapeared entirely but it had faltered a bit. She'd always been a bit self-conscious around strangers. "Its nice to meet you," Green nodded. The young woman was very much aware of the silence between them and sighed in relief when the other woman finally broke it. "Thank you," she glanced at the potted leaf beside her that was twitching and shake now more than ever and turned back to Jayoku with a mishevious smile. "I'd tell you, but I wonder if you'd believe me?" jayoku A frown anchored itself firmly in place as she gazed as Green, she tapped idly a finger nail on the table top a questioning look in her eyes.
"I don't know what you mean..." she trailed looking again at the woman and then the leaf. "What wouldn't i believe? That is isn't a plant?" she said with a more sarcastic tone that was unintentinal. Today just wasn't her day. SHe winced and looked down at the table a moment and then avoided Green's gaze.
"Sorry, that wasn't directed to you personally. I am just having a bad day is all." she continued the then ran a hand through her hair. "No tell me I would like to know what sort of secret you may be hiding behind that smile of yours." Green_Eyes The whole situation was rather amusing. Green had never considred actually having to tell somebody, let alone a stranger whom she knew next to nothing about, that she possessed a leaf that would one day grow into a child. Would Jayoku think she was crazy? "There was no harm done," Green laughed, refering to the sarcastic tone the other woman had used. Then, she wrapped two hands around the base of the pot and pushed it towards Jayoku so that she could get a better look. The leaf inside was completey still now and its stem was stiffly pointed straight up into the air as if it was frightened or surprised. "Its not any ordinary plant." She was thoroughly enjoying the way things were heading. It was like the begining of some cheesy mystery movie. Or maybe horror, but that was a bit of a stretch. "This leaf," Green pointed at it, "is supposedly going to turn into a child." jayoku Jayoku leaned back a bit as the pot was pushed in her direction, she did notice that the leaf no longer moved as if the wind had suddenly stopped. She was glad Green didn't seem mad about her mood, it was nice ot have someone not jump at your throat for being annoyed.
When Green explained she looked one eyebrow raised in question. "A child?" she wondered...did she mean figuratively? like she would lvoe the plant as if it was her very own child? Or literally? she seemed a bit dumbstruck as she sat staring at the little leaf, her frown still anchored dubiously. Green_Eyes The look on Jayoku's face said it all. "I knew you wouldn't believe me," Green laughed, eyes twinkling with glee. This was a lot more fun than she'd expected it to be. "A real child," she stressed the sentence, "living, breathing, eating... Everything else any normal child can do." jayoku Jayoku uncolded her arm's and reached tentitavely towards the lil leaf. "That....will become a child?" she repeated her frown still plastered on her face.
"Is it some strange horrible lab speciemen gone array?" She asked resisting the urge to pock the leaf and instead prodded the side of the pit as if trying to get a reaction.
"should i be reporting you to the police or something?" Green_Eyes "Yes and no," Green nodded and shook her head where it was necessary and watched with some amusement at Jayoku prodded the pot. It didn't react. Instead, the leaf curled up into something that resembled a ball and resumed twitching. "Definately not," there was a note of alarm in her voice then. The police? If this woman didn't believe her it was very likely that the law wouldn't either. "I found her in my basement and then, a month or so later, I received a letter explaining the leaf's strange behaviour. I was surprised, I'll admit, but the possibility of it turning into a child was a much more pleasant idea than it being possessed. Seriously, at one point I thought it might bite me."

One night finally the leaf seems to act strangely. Its colour is constantly changing and it bends over all the time as if it felt sick. Its tip only moves slightly from side to side as it turns purple and back into fresh green slowly. You don't know for how many hours the leaf is doing this already as you detect it.

The potted leaf sat on the windowsill in Green's room. It'd lounged there, revelling in the night and shying away from the sun.
The hopeful mother would check on the leaf every chance she could get, to make sure that it was properly watered and comfortable. Unfortunately, being the only parent in a house full of children was very time consuming and the mostly inactive leaf had been sadly overlooked once or twice.
It was Boxing Day, the morning after Christmas Day, and Green was awakened by the light that shone into her window from the winter sun. Looking very much like an angry bear that'd been disturbed before the end of hibernation, the blonde woman crawled out of bed and dragged herself towards the beige curtains.
It was much too early to be up. Why hadn't she bothered to close the curtains before she'd gone to sleep last night?
She hadn't been thinking. Of course.
When Green yawned and reached up to pull the curtains closed her site caught on the strange behavior of her favorite leaf.
What was going on?
She gasped and rubbed the sleep from her eyes, wrongly assuming that she was just imagining things. Even leaves as strange as this one didn't just randomly change color. Did they?
Her bedroom door creaked open and a pair of bright brown eyes and rabbit ears peered around the doorframe. Rose, the pajama-clad toddler mishap, frowned in suprise at the site of her mother awake this early and made her way towards the woman.
"Mama?" she questioned as she wrapped her arms around Green's leg and stared up at the woman. Green didn't immediately respond to the little girl. Instead, she continued to stare in awe at the leaf.
Rose's frown deepened when her mother didn't pay her the attention she was due and with a desperate cry, Rose stomped her foot down on the mezmerized woman's foot. Green, unhurt, finally tore her gaze away from the leaf and bent to pick Rose up.
She positioned the toddler on her hip and scolded her for being so rude before gesturing wordlessly at the potted leaf. Rose blinked in confusion and absently wondered what the leaf would taste like if she chewed on it.
"I wonder how long this has been going on," Green whispered. It unnerved her. Perhaps, she ought to call the Eden Project manager and find out what exactly was happening.

The pair noticed the change in the leaf instantly. However, their expressions were hardly identical. Green, wide-eyed and with her jaw hanging open, looked beyond alarmed.
Rose resembled a bored lizard on a hot summer's day. After all, this wasn't anything new. She'd seen a hundreds of leaves wilt and die. Actually, she'd probably somehow been the cause in a number of cases.
Then, the smell hit them.
Rose wrinkled her nose and burried her face in the collar of her mother's pajama top, desperate to relieve her nostrils of the stench.
"What the hell?" Green whispered as panic caused her throat to clench and, still holding Rose tightly to her side, leaned closer for better inspection of the leaf. It was normal for decomposing things to stink.
It just wasn't supposed to happen to this leaf. This leaf was special. Wasn't it? Hadn't those letters from the Eden Project manager meant something?
She'd taken care of it in the ways that she'd known how. It wasn't fair that this would be happening now; after such a very long time.

The smell seems to manifest into smoke and starts to cover the whole room slowly while the leaf appears to be wilting more and more. The smoke is thick and dense and you're not able to see the leaf anymore after just a few seconds. The smell becomes increasingly sickening and just as you think you can't take it anymore the smoke vanishes as quick as it had appeared and in front of you sits a small toddler. Belle is born.

As the smoke thickened, Green had become increasingly worried. She leaned in closer to get a better look, oblivious to the way the stench was making her eyes water. Rose squirmed uncomfortably in her mother's arms as the nervous woman's grip on her tightened.
The bunny child was not pleased about this. For starters, it smelled bad and she was not comfortable. It was time to go. There were other people she could see this early in the morning. In fact, she sometimes wondered if Marie, her big sister, slept at all. Rose wriggled out of Green's hold and ignored the woman's surprised protests as she slid down her leg and landed (ungracefully) on the floor.
"Rose," Green gasped exasperatedly, while trying to kep an eye on the toddler and the smoke-covered leaf.
Then, it happened.
Green clung to the windowsill for support at the shock she recieved. So, her leaf hadn't been decomposing, after all. A small cry of triuphamt joy escaped from between her lips and Green knelt to pick up the gorgeous, blond-haired toddler.
Rose had been on her way out the door when her mother cried out and, assuming that the woman had really gone insane, spun around to see what Green was so excited about. She blinked in surprise at the site of Belle. That was responsible for the smell?
"Stinky," she informed her mother as a-matter-of-factly and gestured at Belle with her hand.
Offended, the Eden toddler scowled and turned her nose up at the bunny child. How dare she?! The furry thing obviously didn't have a clue what it was talking about. Belle crossed her arms indignantly.
Green's eyebrows lifted and she, concerned, glanced at each of the girls in turn.
Now, she would have three toddlers running around the house. The blonde woman bit her lip. This was going to be so much fun.
