The ones in Utah are extremists. However, they aren't Christian as they believe in a different Jesus and a different Gospel. To restate my previous post they believe Satan and Jesus were brothers.

I have a few friends that are Mormon and I never knew bout that. I knew that they can't drink Hot Tea and coffie or something like that. But we never let our religions conflict with each other while we're hangin out

That's good, and it should always be that way. We should never let our religion conflict with a friend's religion, especially when you're just hanging out. Just because someone is mormon doesn't mean they're too different to be around. (If anyone actaully thought that...umm...maybe you should talk with me or somebody else... ninja ) We should treat all people equally. (I'm sure you all were in agreement with this even before I posted it, but....yeah.)

If you go through the official LDS website, you'd think that they were Christians. But going on to say that God's no greater than we are, that seems a wee bit fishy to me. I mean, one of the beliefs is "As God once was, man is. And as God is, man may become." Did I read that right? They think we can be just like GOD. Does that not go COMPLETELY against all Christian beliefs?

I think it is harmful in that as they have so many wives, don't you think they spread disease? And I watched a show on Discovery about it and the ones in Utah abuse and enslave their wives and daughters. sad

but thats 1 mormon, their not all like that, mormons in america (which are probably all the mormons), don't believe that

they weren't brother, but if you think about it, and i just read this in C.S. Lewis's book Mere Christianity (book 2), all evil must come from good, its hard to explain unless you read that book, so satan was once close to god, but i think we shouldn't talk about them unless we have actually read their extra books, when we have done that then we can say these things, but i want to know who here has read the book of mormon before calling them un-christian???

In my oppinion *And I could be wrong* I don't think Mormon is a cult it's a religion. I mean, they do believe in God and they do beleive that Jesus died for our sins. They just have a different view on how the Christ event's happened and how some other events in that past happened to. And I have went to church with my friends who are Mormon *note: I'm not turning Mormon or anything it's just that they wanted me to go with them cause I was staying the night at their house and I didn't wanna be rude. They know I'm Christian* But it didn't seem that much different from the Baptist Church except that we have different perspectives on how things happened. But I only went one time so I can be wrong sweatdrop

and as pointed out by CS Lewis, how it happened isn't important, but whats important is why it happened, Jesus died and ressurected, that all we need to know, how it happened isn't important, but theories to how it happened are just a blueprint to why it happened and is only there if it is necassary, i'm really learning alot from CS Lewis, so that shouldn't even be a factor

Idealy? Yes. But there are some sects that would pervert (change) or water down the Word of God. And it is the Church's job to put a stop to it. We have judge not lest ye be judged, but we also have, I believe in very same chapter, a verse that tells us to judge those of us in the Church that we might be better witnesses and kept from sinning. ie point it out privately to someone that they are doing something wrong, and if that doesn't work, get another person to do it with you, {and then take it before your congregation.} The parts in {} are things that I'm uncertain about.

At least that's when it is one person. It's kinda hard when it's a whole bunch of people that are perverting the Word.

I aknowledge mormons as a relgion, but I don't think their exactly Christians. They do believe in God and aknowedge Jesus, from what I've read a lot of their veiws are skewed.
From what I understand, Mormons have the Bible but they also have their own book added on, which contridicts some things in the Bible. I'm not an expert.

actually, the ones in utah are the ones who aren't extremist. they gave up things like polygamy over 100 years ago to become a state, and have not practiced things like that, the ones who are extremist are people who follow under warren jeffs and still do practice polygomy, but one of us said their not christians, than why don't we call all the other denominations with different view points not christian

because other denominations don't use other books. Mormons also have the book of Mormon which was written by Mr. Mormon(can't remember his first name). Mr. Mormon got it off what he claimed to be stone tablets given to him by God's angels and that they were true. And only he could read them and only he had the key to translate them. The book contradicted the Bible on several points, polygamy being just one of them. It claimed that Satan and Jesus were spirit brothers and that God actually had sex with Mary.
Now Mormons still use this book. Clearly heresay. Clearly a different Jesus than was in the Bible. Clearly not Christian.

Other denominations only use the Bible. They interpret parts differently, but they still all agree on the same Jesus and have no different books contradicting what the rest of the Bible says.

Also (I think I might have mentioned this before) they believe that Jesus' death wasn't enough to cover our sins because he sinned a couple times while he was on earth. Isn't the whole base of christianity that Jesus cleansed our sins? confused
