Hehe... my band's doing Pirates of the Carribean, yeah, we're original sweatdrop
But our show's gonna be real awesome once it's done... we built a pirate ship as a prop, we have two guys swordfighting during the drum break, our closer's at 180 and it's gonna be crazy cool, we've got all these cool visuals that have already been put in or are planned... it's going to be a very cool show!
'The Medallion Calls' 'The Black Pearl' -drum break- 'One Last Shot' 'Moonlight Serenade'

Moonlight Serenade? That's not pirate-ee music! That's not even in the movie, unless they have added it. We did Moonlight Serenade as part of our "Swing Show." It was our percussion feature actually.

Masquanade That's right this is talk about marching band. From your half time show, practices, music, parades, etc. whee Though we some we already know I guess I shall ask what is everyone's show theme this year? (I'm ready for all those Pirate themes) The theme for my band this year is Latin which inclues the Mask of Zorror. Ha...no Pirates here...though I prolly wouldn't mind it...one of my favorite movies lol...but anyway...Our show this year is Grease...quite outta the blue actually...but thats my director for ya...lol...anyway thats our show... We Go Together/Greased Lightnin'....Shakin' At The High School Hop...Beauty school Drop Out....born to Handjive/We Go Together. Our band doubled in size from last year to this year, which is quite awesome...lol...though I don't know if we have enough uniforms for everyone stressed ...o well...we'll see!

It must be . . . two different songs with the same name. But the Moonlight Serenade we played- was not orignally a percussion song at all- we just made it that way.

hehee... I think one of my fave shows that we did had to either be 'Gershwin' or my freshman year... which was centered around a piece the middle-school director had written for us. 'Highlander Scottish Rhapsody' .... it was pretty fun, and we had some very diff props/ guard equipment. I think it total, we used... 3 flags, one 8' flexi-pole (me and one other girl used these... shortest member using the biggest flag... yeah, talk about a complex) , wooden rings, and cut hula hoops (and of course, the rifle line wink )

This year, we're doing Gladiator: Barbarian Horde The Might of Rome The Battle
It's really fun to play, and the drill is so much fun.
It's an improvement from last year's West Side Story. It was nuts.
This year, we've also learned a new grip on our trumpets for marching, called the "Vulcan Grip" where your ring finger and your pinky are under the third valve slide, and your middle's in the ring, and your index is around the valve. I swear that my middle and ring finger are farther apart on my left than my right. o.O

Even though this is kind of stictly trumpet stuff- but when I first started I used my . . . middle and then i took private lessons and he moved me to my ring finger to grip the trip valve slide ring thing . . . I think that's it. It might be the other way around. sweatdrop I dont have a trumpet handy to check

Most of my section has put their ring finger in the ring until he told us about the marching style and the classical style. It hurt the first two days, but now I've gotten used to it. It's gonna take forever to switch back for regular concerts.

But I knew someone who had a glatior show and like the entire guard had these shield things and they formed a circle and they pulled away leaving one lone guard member doing a solo dance. It was pretty cool. But my freshman year we did go up against a band doing a gladiator show- and it was REALLY good. xp

Well, I hope this is okay to post here. But it is band-related, and I need a place to rant.
Today, at field show practice. The band is done for the day, and we go to the band room to put away our instruments, grab bookbags, and go home. But, lo and behold, the drumline is practicing in the band room. And apparently our presence disturbs them, because they wouldn't let us in while they were "playing." Which conviently stopped after they told up to keep out. So the entire band is sitting in the hallway, waiting for the drumline to take their sweet time packing up. Isn't there somewhere else they can practice, as opposed to right on top of our stuff?

If your school is anything like mine, Oggy, no, there isn't. We're so cramped in there, we need a bigger school, but of course there isn't the money for it. But our drumline would be nice enough to let us step around them and put our stuff away, at least.
