Xiahou Dun sat and thought of the situation as soon as Cao Cao had spoken. He knew that Guan Yu was being attacked and that Cao Cao wanted to help him in hopes that he would join them, but Dun knew that Guan Yu was a man of great attachments to his brothers and would not leave them just because they were to come and help him out. "My lord, I think that we should definitely head off to assist at Xia Pi, but I feel that you should not get your hopes up for getting Guan Yu to join us. He is too loyal to his brothers to join us just because we came to help. I feel that your infatuation with him is blinding you of what we should really be doing: studying this enemy. I think that rushing into battle would be a little too hasty. Perhaps we should rush to the outskirts of Xia Pi to watch the battle from not too far away and strike when we know what we are up against. Guan Yu can hold his own while we learn what our enemy has to offer and if the tide of battle turns against him we will rush to his aid if need be." Dun looked into the distance as he spoke, picturing what he thought they should do not two seconds before he said it. He turned his gaze to Cao Cao to see what he thought.

Xiao Ling nodded and said "Yes Sir!" To Cao Cao's order. She would normally only take orders from Dun, but she knew that he would tell her to listen to Cao Cao so she instantly obeyed. She looked to her master and listened to him speak his mind and thought it over. She couldn't think of any better plan than what he said, but she knew that Cao Cao might not agree with him, so she kep emotionless and noisless until it was time to move.

"Dun as careful as always. Very well, we shall take the battalion that Dian has no doubt rallied and we will wait just south of Xia Pi. Yuan, your archery and eye sight is a must, so you are coming along. Dun, your intelligence and leadership need not be placed in this situation, you shall take over internal affairs while I am away. Xu Zhu, Xu Huang, Xiao Ling, you three shall act as my escorts. We know not what we are up against and it is clear to me they won't be settled on a dead king's throne. Xiao Ling, tell Li Dian he is to be my direct messenger to and from Gou Jia, starting with Gou Jia's instruction..."

Cao Cao eyed the door suspiciously and returned his gaze at his generals. Tension before a battle and Dun's enlightening over infatuation, Cao Cao was a little more annoyed at the thought of a battle in another's territory. "Xiahou Yuan, you are the most adapt with the bow so I ask you bring along a small squad of veteran archers. You and your group are recon and scouts, since you have all eagle eyes." Meng De's thoughts wondered to battle, imagining another Lu Bu rising in the camps of this foe...another Dong Zhuo. "Dun, raise our soliders morale and expect a message from Xiao Ling if we need reinforcements. I'll leave politics to you since you are fairly sharp in the field." If Liu Bei were to be killed by "this enemy," Guan Yu wouldn't feel too bad about joining with Cao Cao... "Xu Huang, Xu Zhu, ready four horses. My Desert Wind shall be my steed. You three can decide which stallion you feel comfortable riding." Cao Cao's thoughts dipped into who to send as an assassin to kill Liu Bei and who to kill the assassin afterwards before breaking apart into a thought of Xu Zhu sitting on a tiny pony. A smile breathed new life into the leaders face. "You have your orders now get to them! I'd like to wake to a good dish of wine tomorrow for a victory celebration!"

Xiahou Dun nodded sharply and said, "Yes sir, I will do my best and be waiting for your word." He stood up and walked off to the side of the room to wait for a moment.

Xiao Ling listened to her Lord's orders and reported almost exactly the same as Dun, "Sir." She said sharply. She stood up and walked over to Dun. "My Lord, what am I to do? I didn't think he would sepparate us..."

Dun looked her straight in the eye and said, "What's wrong with you? You don't need me to wet-nurse you anymore. You will go out there and do as Lord Cao Cao tells you to do and you will do it as responsive as if I were to tell you to do it." He said in a quiet but harsh tone. His face softened up a bit and he said in a nicer tone, "Don't worry, you'll be fine. This is your chance to really prove your worth to the land. You will be one of the first to get out there and fight this new enemy, don't let this chance slip because you aren't here with me. I will be waiting for you here."

Xiao Ling nodded and gave a slight sigh, "You're right." She stood up straight and gained a more confident look on her face, "I won't forget your words. This mark on my face will carry me through battle as if you were with me. I have to go. Good bye, Master Dun." She leaned in and gave him a kiss on the cheek, then quickly made her way out to find Li Dian, who looked to be wandering the halls aimlessly. "Master Dian!" She said with excitement, "We are leaving for Xia Pi soon and will be watching and waiting for our chance to strike. Lord Cao Cao wants you to be the messenger between him and Guo Jia, starting with Guo Jia's instruction from here."

Li Dian watched as Xiao Ling got closer to him, obviously wanting to tell him something. She got to him and greeted him excitedidly, "Xiao Ling nice to see you again! But you forget, don't call me Master, I don't deserve the title from you of all people. Ah! I'm to be the messenger for our Lord, eh? Well, I best get to it, don't want to disappoint Cao Cao. I shall search for Lord Guo Jia to honor our Master's words." Li Dian bowed, smiling at Xiao Ling thankfully for delivering the message to him. Li Dian scurried down the halls after hearing this news, intent to find Wei's lead strategist, Guo Jia.

Xiahou Yuan saluted to Cao Cao and wasted no time to leave. While walking to his quarters to summon his elites, Xiahou Yuan began to ponder.
"Hmm, I'd like to think that these guys won't be a challenge, but as far as I know, the Yuan guy certainly had alot of good generals. If they got past them and killed that Yuan Shao, they gotta be tougher than I would think. No matter, I'm sure cousin and Guo Jia's got a way to get around that new enemy. In the mean time-"
Yuan gave a stretch as he walked into the courtyard he was previously training at. As a whistling object zipped by, Xiahou Yuan grabbed it and in reflex, he strings it onto his bow and fires back. Whoever shot it stepped aside and the arrow bounced off of the solid wall. The one who strung it was one of his elites. The elite saluted Yuan and bowed before him.
"I'm sorry sir! It was reflex!"
Yuan walked up to him while laughing. When he reached him, he gently patted his shoulder and smiled.
"Of course, it was what I taught you afterall. Huh huh." Yuan laughed. "Bao Sui, I need you to rally everyone together. Lord Cao Cao's called upon us to scout out the new enemies."
Bao Sui simply saluted to Yuan before running off. Yuan watched him go before he disappeared into the distance. Yuan walked over to the arrow that bounced off of the wall and stared at it with a smile. He picked it up and slowly strung it to the sun. Aiming carefully, Yuan whispers,
"Let this arrow hit the sun once we win."
And the arrow disappears into the blinding fire.

Xu Zhu smiles at Cao Cao for allowing him to come along. Filling in Dian Wei's shoes and protecting Cao Cao are his top two priorities now. After Cao Cao gave his orders, Xu Zhu saluted to Cao Cao and walked off to go find a steed. Xu Zhu looked like a proud man walking like he just got some self-respect.
"Don't worry Cao Cao. I'll make sure no one harms you." Xu Zhu said while walking down the hallway to the stables.

Cao Cao had left the room after Dun and Zhu had left, and was now outside a throne room a floor up. He gently knocked twice on the wooden door. A soft voice replied, "Come in Prime Minister."

"What of the new enemy," the child voice of Liu Xie, the kid emperor, continued as Cao Meng De, the Prime Minister of the Han and Heaven's Mandate, opened the doors, walked forth with pride, and knelt before the Emperor.

"Your highness, although I am to be your strategist, I do not know much of these foes. An elite chosen group are to come with me as I recon these killers of Yuan Shao. I come seeking your blessing, to protect us if this enemy be so corrupt that they are able to defy even the Heavens." Cao Cao stared at the ground, tightening his fists as he deemed the opponents naught more than demons and scum. "My army is ready to defend you and the Han with our lives if this foe be too strong to stop out in the fields. Even if the battle was brought here, I--"

"Enough! Cao Cao, your troops are strong, you are the Mandate of Heaven, and you have my blessings, there is no need to worry about the tides of war flooding you and locking you here. The Han has you and Liu Bei to thank for its survival and sincerity. Go, bring peace back to the land so that the great leaders of the old Han know we are still strong. Go, fight the new enemy and show them that the descendants of the Yellow Emperor are stronger than any warrior under the sun." Liu Xie's young voice couldn't help but sound desperate, though he was trying to sound like a real emperor, instead of a puppet that Dong Zhuo threw on a throne.

"Yes, my Emperor, we have nothing to fear with your blessings. I shall be back with good news." Cao rose from the floor, keeping his head bowed, and walked backwards out the throne room, closing the door as he stepped out. With a barrier between the two rulers, Cao turned to the hallway and started walking to the stables. Cao Cao's thoughts grew sinister once again.
Pathetic puppet, sitting on a throne, trying to fool the Heavens themselves. A leader needs to be strong, not a child. Let's see how a false emperor's blessings fair when I lure these ruthless foreigners here just to let them kill you, before wiping them out and declaring myself the ruler of the Han.

Xiao Ling quickly made her way to her room, grabbed the necessary things for battle, and then exited the main hall of the castle to head toward the horse stable. She searched the horses for one that looked like he could run with little saddle bounce so that she could use her bow from horseback without too much interference from the horse she rode on. She finally came to an impressive looking horse that had "Shadow Runner" written on its saddle. "Hmm... Shadow, huh? You look like a good horse, I think I'll ride you." She said to the horse as she untied its reins and pulled it out of the stable. She mounted the Shadow Runner and brought it to a gallop. It was exactly what she was looking for. Not only did she stay rather still in the saddle, but she felt as though she could never be knocked from the saddle unless she wanted to get off or unless the horse itself died. She rode the horse around to see if she could find her uncle Yuan. She saw an arrow fly up toward the sun and she knew that it had to have been him who shot it. She rode up to him and smiled.

"Are you ready, Uncle?" She asked sincerely. "We need to get out there and wait for Lord Cao Cao."

Meanwhile Xiahou Dun sat in one of the guard towers, watching the army assemble outside of the gates. He could see for many miles from up there and it was there that he would wait for a messenger from Lord Cao Cao to let him know if they needed reinforcements.

Yuan was in a concentrated train of thought when suddenly something echoed to his mind. Eventually the echoe became a voice. A woman's voice. Yuan opened his eyes and looked over. It was Xiao Lei riding on top of the horse as black as the night. She certainly has grown into a fine young lady. And so strong as well, both physically and mentally. Heh, the works of brother can be pretty amazing. Yuan placed a finger under his nostrils and rubbed gently while smiling.
"Heh, we'll do just that. But I still gotta get my men together first. You go on ahead and I'll meet you and everyone later." Yuan smiled.

"Right," She said in a nice tone. She turned her horse around and made her way to the gate. The massive doors opened for her and her horse to pass through and there she waited for everyone else to show up.

Sima Yi saw Cao Cao walking down one of the halls of the Emperor and bowed before him.

"My lord," he said to get his attention. "Is it true that you are marching against this new threat?"

==============

Xiahou En and Xiahou Ba walked together to find their cousin and father Xiahou Yuan. They saw him just as he fired the arrow. They watched Xiao Ling ride off ahead of everyone alone.

"You think she will be fine by herself?" Ba asked En as they neared Yuan.

Xiahou En gave Ba a forboding look. "Of course, she is a Xiahou isn't she?"

The two laughed and didn't stop laughing until they reached Yuan. They stopped instantly and bowed to him. "Father," Xiahou Ba said. "I would be honored to go with you on this advance."

"As would I," Xiahou En said as well and bowed to him, Xiahou Yuan was a superior to him anyways.

Xiao Ling waited outside for some time and became anxious. She knew that it took a while to gather people, but she had her troops outside with her and it was taking forever to get things moving. "Grr..." She growled silently as she turned her horse around and headed back to the gate. She rode toward where her uncle was and saw En and Ba talking to Yuan. "En, Ba! I was hoping that you two would show up! Are you coming to battle with us?" She smiled at her two "cousins" and fiercely stared at them, hoping that she could compete with them on the battlefield.

Xiahou En heard Xiao Ling call he and Ba. He looked up into the distance at her and waved his arm. "Of course, we wouldn't live with ourselves if we did!" he yelled. "Just don't get to anxious once we get on the field."

====Cao Cao/Sima Yi====

Cao Cao looked down at the bowed man who held a black feathered warfan. At any other time, he would have just ignored the man, but for some reason, the look in his eyes caught his attention.

"What is your name?" Cao Mengde asked the strategist.

"Of course my lord," the strategist replied with another bow. "My name is Sima Yi, styled Zhongda."

Cao Cao looked at him and smiled. "Zhongda eh? So what is your strength... certainly not much of a fighter."

Sima Yi stared hard at Cao Cao, showing no fear. "I am known for my mind," he said. "I know extensively in the art of war, and bested many people in this art."

"Hmph," Cao Cao started to walk off. "Fine then, come with me. I'll see just how good you are."

Sima Yi bowed once again with a smile. "Yes, my lord."

Cao Cao exited the palace and into the courtyard where the men were assembled. "We march!" he bellowed out. "Our target is Xia Pi!"

((Man, it seems everyone is heading towards Shu...))

Xiahou Dun wandered aimlessly throught the castle. He was worried about how Cao Cao viewed things in this current age and feared that his cousin and lord would fall to the same fate that befell the unfortunate Yuan Shao. He was given orders to stay at the castle and, even though he wanted to fight, would follow his orders.

Meanwhile Xiao Ling gave a sharp yell of excitement at the sound of Cao Cao's voice. She had been waiting to go longer than anyone else and just couldn't contain her excitement at the prospect of fighting this new enemy. Any enemy would make her happy, but the fact that this one was one that had never been fought in this land before made it even more enticing. She nodded to Ba and En and rode back outside the gate to follow Cao Cao to Xia Pi.

((Hmm, I'll continue on))

Cao Cao gazed upon the troops assembled. It was great because the troops felt an honor defending their land from invaders. This greatly raised the morale of the troops, but worse it impeded his ambitions. This leader of the invaders would have to be defeated in order for Cao Cao to fulfill his true destiny.

"Men!" he called out from the higher ground of the top of the steps. Sima Yi stood next to and behind him fanning himself with his warfan. "These inbvaders threaten our very existence as Chinese with this invasion. We can not let such a thing happen! The Emperor himself has given me the honors of leading you to defeat these invaders. We will march on to them and crush them under our power and might! We have capable men leading you, and you yourselves are undoubtedly capable. I hear these warriors are rather skilled at fighting, do not let that impede you. Remember, when your backs are against the wall, that you must fight on. Not for me, not for your lord and generals, but for China itself! Now! Yell and show your might to the emperor!"

In response, all the soldiers that heard him cried out a deafly battlecry. Cao Cao gave a smile and let the cheer absorb him. Then, when their cry was over, Cao Cao stpped down from the stairs where he was given his horse. There, he mounted up and rode through the men adn out the gates.

"Now we go," hes said.
