In the duplex you find a drum set left there to enjoy your first night on the island with it. There is a signed photograph some some punk rockers "From the rest of your band. Sorry we are gonna be late figured this would make up for it. See you next week.".

In the room is a drum set, a very expensive one.

A Singerland Buddy Rich Signature Drumset

If you'd ever seen this on a catalog it would have retailed for about $6,800.00 at full price.

An Early Christmas

Alec entered the duplex, staring around at the modest interior. Sound, modern and not badly furnished. It definetly beat the crap he had in his father's basement. He twirled a drumstick as he scoured the contents of the room, eyes finally trailing to a sight that nearly made his heart stop.

"Holy Jesus Mary n' Joseph."

His jaw nearly hit the floor as he stared at the drum set, feeling the urge to drool. Of course he did what any self-respecting drummer would do, and made a b-line for the instrument to hug it for at least twenty minutes. It seemed whatever the ladies were doing outside was none of his concern anymore.

"ROCK ON!" He immediately rummaged for his boombox, flinging the contents of his bag onto the bed in order to get it. After plugging it in and locating his favorite CD, he proceeded to cause the loudest ruccus he could muster.

He cranked the bass.
He cranked the volume.
And decided his drums needed a little bit of "working in".

Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go I wanna be sedated
Nothin' to do and no where to go-o-oh, I wanna be sedated
Just get me to the airport, put me on a plane
Hurry hurry hurry before I go insane
I can't control my fingers I can't control my brain
Oh no no no no noooo

The welcoming commitee

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya lay on the very edge of the jungle on the beach. She was on her side wearing what seemed to be very little as she allowed herself some peaceful time to bask.

Thing has been going pretty well lately. No horrible run-in's, no one yelling at her or calling her a lier, no one new to bump into that would give her a hard time... Maybe being out of her duplex wasn't so bad.

The warm sun was incredibly relaxing, paired with the headphones on her non-existant ears that blasted ACDC into her skull.

Today would be a nice day.

Alec Derring
Alec had stepped out into the warm sun earlier that day, spending his time wandering the jungle in an attempt to locate a nice area to enjoy for himself. "Th' Doc told us t' enjoy the beach, so Imma enjoy th' beach!" He grinned to himself, stomping through the sandy ground underfoot as he followed the sound of sloshing waves. Having left the white top he usually wore back in his duplex, the punkster was enjoying the warm climate more than anything though his drumsticks were still stuffed in the pockets of the same shorts he wore yesturday.

"Well ain't that someth'n t' see, eh?" He shouted enthusiastically when he stepped over the threshold that brought him from the misty jungle to a bright, sandy beach. In fact, he was so pleased with his discovery of a little paradise that he rejected the idea of anyone else being with in hearing range as he broke into a rather irritating rendition of "California Sun".

Amaya Vaughan
The iguana would have been content to lounge there until it got dark and she had to find refuge inside. Though unfortunatly for her there was something interupting her song... like a fly buzzing around her headphones. She frowned, her tail giving a quick lash as she opened her eyes and pulled her headphones off as she sat up. Green eyes that seemed to hide with her green skin scanned the area, then landed on Alec.

Amaya froze.

Her eyes went wide as she stared at him, her body tense. Her mind screamed for her to run into the jungle and hide, since she didn't know this person... but maybe, they already knew?

Against her common sense, the lizard stayed sitting where she was.

Alec Derring
Unfortunately for Amaya, Alec was scanning every inch of the beach at the moment, drinking in the blues of the ocean waves and how it contrasted so nicely with the sandy shore. It was inevitable that his eyes would land on the green speck that stood out amongst the scenery, immediately gathering his attention.

"...Some kindeh lizehd?" He narrowed his gaze and diverted his path towards the creature, the distance between the two making the actual size of the girl misleading so that she seemed a mere animal to the misinformed.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya sat farther up as he started to walk towards her.

s**t. Shitshitshitshit.

She turned off her CD player and swallowed hard, but stayed where she was. If this guy already knew the nature of the island then it would be okay... if not, then...

The reptile continued to fight with herself, half of her wanting to run into the cover of the forest and up a tree, the other wanting to stay incase this guy already knew.

From what she could see he looked pretty cool and... kind of attractive.

Iguana DNA or not, she was still a 16-year-old girl.

Alec Derring
As view came into focus, it became more apparent to the teen that all was not right in what he saw. The gecko... thing... didn't look like a gecko anymore from up close. In fact it looked like somesort of dinosaur off of the Discovery channel. Alec's paced slowed to a stop a few metres from Amaya, borth apparently frozen in place as they stared at each other.

Eyes grew wider as they traced her form, his stomach beginning to tighten and spasm along with his pounding heart. It didn't seem threatening, but it was apparent he had stumbled upon a creature that was a little more dangerous than a standard jungle lizard. He couldn't get over her eyes. They weren't reflectant on the environment as one would expect from "a dumb animal", but seemed to delve deeper... into an actual soul.

It was then that he noticed the clothing, the CD player. What the hell was going on.

"Wuh-..." Alec began to sputter without thinking, colour draining from his face.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya met his eyes, matching his fear... but for very different reasons.

So he didn't know.

Slowly she hooked her CD player to her shorts and with her body lowered to the ground started to back up on all fours.

Don't scream. Please don't scream.

Alec Derring
Alec wasn't a man of courage. Hell, in most countries he wasn't considered a man at all yet. This, this was too much for a little brain to comprehend. "Kay... kay we're all friends 'ere..." He began to raise his hands in a passive gesture, unable to read the girl's expression of matched fear.

What the ********, what the ******** it's MOVING.

"AHHHH!!!!!!" Alec let out a peircing scream despite his attempted self-control. He tried to flee though all he managed to do was stumble backwards and roughly land on his rump in the sand. Scrambling to continue his retreat, he remained in his position as he flailed and kicked up sand.

Amaya Vaughan
The girl's whole body spasmed as he screamed and started to back up frantically. For a moment she stopped moving, and just watched him.

Then her face contorted, tears welling into her eyes. A sob escaped her mouth before she forced herself up quickly, spinning around to run back to the village.

Alec Derring
"AHHHHH!!!" The screams kept coming as Amaya flinched and fled into the jungle, the quick motions only adding to the terror he was experiencing. In a futile attempt to retreat as well, the teen just ended up landing in the sand again. "AH GAWD DON'T EAT M' PLEASE!!!" He cowered and covered his face, remaining in that position until nothing could be heard but the waves of the ocean.

Alec opened his eyes and peered behind him but saw nothing of the horrible green creature. He didn't think twice as he scrambled to his feet and sprinted back the way he came to the confines of the duplexes.

The Bitter Truth

Antoinette Devereux
It didn't take her long to put the squirrel in it's place and climb down the tree feet first, much to the disapproval of the squirrel. Brushing herself off angrily, the tattooed woman pushed her hair from her face before searching for her smokes. One was instantly lit and dangling from her lips in seconds, and after a moment of thought, she tucked a second behind her ear before shoving the pack and lighter away again.

What was the problem with this island and its ******** MOODY men?!

Without even thinking, she started walking in the opposite direction of her duplex. Maybe she'd go to the beach or something.

Alec Derring
Seeing as it was his first full day on the island "paradise", it was understandable that in his frenzy to get away from the "lizehd thing" Alec had lost his way. He was now wandering the forested area around the beach, making jittery, awkward strides as he nureed a cigarette. He seemed very on-edge after the afternoon's experience, glancing around with a paranoid compulsion to make sure he wasn't being followed although something told him he wasn't.

Finally locating somesort of direction, the teen began walking towards the duplexes in time to see Antony coming in the opposite direction. Not willing to come under any similar circumstances as the previous encounter, he unskillfully ducked behind a tree and prayed to go unnoticed.

Antoinette Devereux
Antony herself wasn't exactly in the mood for more rejection and people fleeing the area simply because she had tails. In fact, most of her changes weren't obvious from the front, well except for her eyes and the small patch of fur on her nose. Therefore, she was quite insulted.

"Hey you!" She yelled, frowning as she walked directly towards the hiding person, "Why the ******** are you hiding?"

Alec Derring
Alec twitched and glanced around the side of the tree trunk, relieved to hear a human voice. "Fookin' hidin' from the monstehs in this place, whad'ya think?!" He called back in response, breaking out into a jumbled string of curses and mumblings about "th' psycho island" and "freakeh an'mals". He took the opportunity to watch as Antony approached, realizing she was rather normal looking. A glimmer of hope presented itself that she could possibly be in the same crazy situation as he was.

Antoinette Devereux
"Have you already received the injection?" She asked bluntly, bringing the smoke back up to her lips and taking a long drag as she eyed the lanky male. The accent didn't go unnoticed, but for now her irritation from being called a monster was much too great to be swayed per usual. "Because if you have, you're ********... And not in the good way."

Alec Derring
Alec paused, clearly needing to contemplate the question. "Ye.... I got m'shot." The studded eyebrow raised in a confused expression as he mirrored her gesture, taking a drag from his cigarette to calm his nerves. What the hell did she mean by "********" anyhow?

"What'dya mean?" He looked around nervously, almost laughing in disbelief.

Antoinette Devereux
"It means that you're well on your way to becoming one of us 'monsters,'" she explained, red eyes watching him intently, anger still left in her system. Flicking the ash from her cig with her thumb, Antony finally took a better look at him. He looked standard punk, which didn't impress her too much, but the labret was nice enough. At one point in time she used to have one. It had gotten retired eventually. "So stop ******** treating us like animals as if we LIKE being turned into them! You'll be a part of this freak show soon enough."

Alec Derring
Alec was taken aback by the attitude, seeing as his mind was still close to a complete shut down. "What the fook ye talkin' about?" He slurred and attempted to give the girl a better look, disbelieving everything she was saying though he was beginning to get a little defensive of her accusations. "Treatin' who, the wuh? I d'n know anybody in th's place! I go to the beach, I go to 'ave a swim, and a' see this.... THING... scaley... somethin!" He waved his arms as he tried to communicate his ordeal, eventually giving up and pointing to the beach behind him. "A' nearly shite meself I was so scared!" He quieted down again, only to puff at his cig.

"Look 'ere. I want off th's place. How do I leave?"

Antoinette Devereux
Antony's tails flicked with irritation as she turned to the side a bit so he could see them. "We're ALL ******** experiments!" She yelled as he began to get defensive, "And we're ALL changing into ******** ANIMALS!" The tattooed woman took an angry suck from her cigarette before practically snarling at his last question.

"Look here," she growled low in her throat, "Do you really think I'd still be here if there were a way off this island? I've been here since ******** December, others have been here even longer... And no one's left this place... Ever." Taking a long deep breath and one last drag of her smoke, Antony relaxed somewhat and ran her hand through her hair. "There are cameras everywhere, and someone's always watching... Don't try and attack the staff... Or you may wake up in a white room missing a bit of the precious gems south of the border."

The only reason she worded it like that was to try not to scare him too much. Nothing like some crazy girl saying they'll cut your balls off if you piss them off, but maybe it would knock some reality into him. "It's happened." The wasn't a hint of humor in her eyes.

Alec Derring
Alec's eyes widened to theie limits and he stood like a zombie, staring at Antony. This was insane, everything she said was insane.

He thought twice on that when she showed him her tails, the teen rubbing his jaw in subconscious effort and to mask the shock. Her expression of clear upset caught the words in his throat and he stood mutely silent for a few long moments. "Ah." Was all he could muster when he removed his hand for a split second, staring off at a tree over her shoulder. "There's lotsa 'em then. Lotsa people?" He didn't need her to answer, the mumblings being rhetorical and to clear the chaos in his mind. Slowly everything began to settle though his face was still devoid of colour.

"So the... um... lizehd. On the beach," He made another hand gesture of what he approximated Amaya's height to be. "used t'be normal?" His guilt came in waves. He acted like an absolute ninny to a poor victim of... whatever pyschopath owned this place.

Antoinette Devereux
"Whatever duplex number we're on... Is how many there are," she explained, despite the question being rhetorical. Part of her felt bad from how he was reacting, and then she shared his guilt when he described Amaya, the lizard girl that had nearly given her a heart attack in the cafeteria. Antony frowned, looking a bit guilty as well, "That's Amaya... And yes, everyone here used to be human. I don't like the world 'normal,' for obvious reasons."

After watching him for several more minutes, the squirrel woman had calmed considerably and was stepping out her cigarette butt on the ground. "Do you drink?" It was hard to tell how old he was, and this seemed to be a round about way to figure it out. "Might calm you down a bit..."

Alec Derring
Alec visibly shuddered. That red-haired girl was in #42 above, so there were 42 people!? The teen rubbed the back of his neck, emotions completely changed from the naive content he had felt this morning.

His cigarette had burned to the filter and he dropped it effortlessly onto the ground, now unable to raise his head to look Antony in the eye. "M'sorreh." He muttered, frowning at himself as he didn't like saying that word. Shaking his head, he unintentionally passed by her question. "Maybeh lateh."

The spikey-haired boy started to walk back to his duplex without really thinking, stopping eventually to look back. "Aye, a never got ye name?"

Antoinette Devereux
"Suit yourself," she replied, shrugging her shoulders absently, he did look pretty freaked out after all.

When he asked for her name, she visibly thought on it a moment or two before nodding, mostly to herself, "It's Antony." The cigarette tucked behind her ear was soon retrieved and lit, the stress relief it brought causing her to relax and sigh in content. Addicting or not, these things were ever so lovely.

Alec Derring
The fact that she had to think over giving her name amused him, a sly grin spreading across his features as a result. "Alec." He replied, though his spectrum of emotions weren't apparent. "I'll see ye around!"

Antoinette Devereux
Antony gave him a wave with her cigarette free hand before turning to head back to her own duplex. Silently, she wished him the best of luck in dealing with the entire island bullshit.

A Chat Over Lunch

Joliette Rigiel
Joli's back was to the door, she was standing with a plate at the food counter, from behind she looked pretty much normal, she wore her black Gi with the tail nub tucked inside and her black gi top, her hair was loose and falling in a mass of curls around her shoulders. She seemed to be hesitating picking up and putting on her plate red meat... The Komodo wanted it, especially after the plate of meat the git had left in the duplex days before.

Alec Derring
"A' SMELL FOOD!" Came an outburst from the doorway of the cafeteria, the noisy source stomping into the room before picking up the tune he had been whistling. The punkster gave a wild grin as he spotted Joli, figuring she was one of the "more human" subjects from what he could see behind.

With little aprehension, he joined the "line up" to peer at the food though at this point he was so starving that he'd eat just about anything. Not like he wouldn't any other day of the week. Bobbing his head, he pounded the countertop of the caf "buffet" in time with his whistling with little regard to Joli.

Joliette Rigiel
"Aye theres food here" came the short female's thick british accent "And there's times I wish I couldn't ... 'smell' it so distinctly and just go back to my veggies only" she hadn't looked up, but the voice told her it was someone she'd not yet met. Her clawed fingers still hovering over the boneless steak in front of her. The Komodo's wants were beginning to become demands and she was sure she would cave soon... or do something she'd regret, she prefered the former over the later

Alec Derring
Alec smirked and leaned over to peer at what the girl was staring at, only to see the clawed appendages and beginnings of scales forming on her skin. He made no outward acknowledgement of what he saw, remembering well the upset he had sensed from the "slightly furred" Antony he had met earlier. It was understandable that she would probably be self-conscious about it too.

"You a veggie-'ead?" He asked in jest as he reached for a fork to gather up any food that was within arm's reach into a heaping pile on his tray.

Joliette Rigiel
"I was vegan yes, but not anymore thanks to that gormless arse Sabin and the 'good' doctor Moreau" she sighs and caves plucking the meat onto her plate and then turning her head to look at the male, her yellow forked tongue flickered once bringing her his scent as well. She looked up at him, he was intersting with his spiked colorful hair... Yup, she'd definetaly never met him before. "You are new I take it?" her emerald green eyes staring up at him

Alec Derring
He couldn't help but dumbly stare at Joliette as she turned to look at him straight-on, her jade eyes and flickering tongue enough to hold his attention in what would turn out to be an embarassingly-long time.

"Tha' must suck." Alec commented, deflecting his gaze back to the food. "Is 'e turnin you in-teh somethin horrible? Who's Sabin?" The food kept piling into a mound on his tray and it seemed her words were making his mind begin to work again since the meeting in the jungle. "A' mean the Doc is realleh that bad? Cuz 'e gave me drums." He paused long enough to give the illusion he was finally going to quiet down, but eventually started up again even after stuffing a wad of string beans into his mouth. "But thas all a lie, aye? Buncha cow's shite if ye ask me."

He turned back to face Joli, balancing the weight of the tray in one hand. "Alec." He responded with a full mouth still. "Ye I'm the newest bugga t' wind up in this fookin place, a guess."

Joliette Rigiel
"It does, believe me. but theres not much we can do" she says quietly "And Sabin is a doctor here, he's a down right git, and don't let Moreau's wealth fool you, after all he paid for my darkroom, a new camera and a laptop among other things for me, and I'm sure lots of other stuff for the others here, he seems to like to keep us... happy, if thats possible considering..." it's then the auburn haired female realized she was rambling and shut up for a moment and then introduced herself "Joliette, Joliette Rigiel, but you can call me Joli, most of the others here do" She tipped her head towards a table "Want to join me?"

Alec Derring
Alec nodded, accepting the offer. He moved towards a table and set the tray down before slumping heavily into a chair. "Ah sure. Uh...d-... do ye hafta pay for this?" The punk teen winced and pointed to the giant mound of food, wondering if he could just swipe the stuff and leave without consequence.

"Are there any fookin people you can trust 'ere?" He sneered as he listened to her rant on the island keepers, the luster of his fancy gift losing it's appeal quite fast. "A' knew a' shoulda said no to tha' shot..."

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette walked to a table sitting and shifting her weight for a moment to get comfortable then settled into her chair putting the plate down, she had no cutlery with her. "No, you don't have to pay for anything here, except with the rest of your life." She looked down at her food for a moment "Not really, with the exception of most of the islanders here. As for saying no to the injection... I did..." she left that hanging, he was sure to be a smart teen, he should catch the meaning, least that was her opinion.

Alec Derring
"Ah ye... I met a couple o' people t'day." Alec nodded, agreeing that the people weren't bad at all, though guilt began to creep up again when he recollected the meeting with Amaya. He shook it off, reserving the emotion for later seeing as he had a plan to fix it.

He didn't wait for her to start eating, empty stomach commanding him to dig in as they conversed. Unfortunately, Joli gave the punk teen a little more credit than he truly deserved, it seemed. "Realleh?!" Steel grey eyes grew wide and he leaned in to listen as if she'd ellaborate. He waited.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette nods listening to him mention he'd met others. she picked the steak up with her claws and brought it to her mouth and with a moment's hesitation opened her mouth revealing the sharp pointy row of teeth which were very un-human-like. She bit into a small portion of hte steak and tore at itchewing only a couple times before swallowing and putting it back down.

"Yes, next thing I know I'm feeling really dizzy and lightheaded and overheated and the git is taking me to the 'med personel' and I pass out on the way after still insisting no shots... And woke up in a duplex, found out later he'd given me a injection"

Alec Derring
Alec wiped his mouth with the back of his arm, wrinkling his nose as he listened. "Stupid bahstard." He grumbled quietly but stopped what he was doing as he remembered Antony's words. They were always being watched.

The spikey-haired teen's head shot up and he glanced around in a paranoid gesture, finding the security cameras easily. "Hn." He grunted, swallowing a large mouthful to finish off more than half his helping of food. "What can ye do for fun around 'ere if they keep watchin like that?"

Joliette Rigiel
"To be honest? I ignore them, I've been behind the lens plenty of times, I was a photographic journalist before I came here, as for fun? Well you can hike, swim, explore, the entertainment room has scads of movies and books, as well as most every game system you can think of plus a number of games and a huge tele. I also take photographs and develop them and practise martial arts" she listed off the things she could think of "I've only met a couple islanders I've not gotten along with so everyone here is for the most part friendly regardless what they look like." She stopped talking, tearing another bite off her steak and again barely chewing it before swallowing.

Alec Derring
"Thas good." Alec said between mouthfuls, polishing off the last of his tray in record time. "A' think Imma go lie down in me house... thing. This day's been s'damn confusin', ma head feels like is gonna explode." He truthfully hadn't gotten a moment of sleep the night before and was beginning to really feel it. Besides, he had to get in at least 3 hours practice time on his drums before he'd allow himself any rest tonight.

"Good to meet ye Joli." The boy grinned, rubbing his dirty hands over his shorts as he got up from the table. "I'll see ye around, got some drummin to do t'night, nehehe."

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette chuckled slightly at the drummin "All right Alec, you can find me in #25 with my boyfriend Chubbs or you can find me in the darkroom, #28, if you want to find me, those are the two places I am most. Take it easy, and dont let this place overwhelm you" She nods her head in a form of farewell as he moved to leave

Alec Derring
Alec waved as he strode out of the cafeteria, left hand instinctively reaching into a baggy pocket to twirl the drumstick that had been tucked inside. "25, 28, got 't!" He wandered out, wondering if everyone else on the island were as nice as the few he'd met so far.

Calming the Waves

Alec Derring
Alec kicked at the tufts of grass as he passed them, wandering his way along the rows of duplexes. It'd had taken him nearly an hour and a half to figure out the use of the damned electronic directory, but eventually he had coaxed the number to "Amaya Vaughan"'s duplex number from the information provided.

The boy lively whistled as he rounded the corner though his level of anxiety and nervousness were quite high. He fell silent as he stood infront of the door, fist clenched. He gave a good bang and waited.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya was contently listening to The Killers on her stereo and occupying herself with making new clothes... as hard as it was with her new hands. But hard or not, she wasn't about to contact the staff and ask them for something she could wear.

Once the knock sounded off she looked up from her sitting position on the bed towards the door.

Who could that be?

Blinking green eyes, the iguana slid off her bed and set her things aside before awkwardly opening the door. Afterall, no one she didn't know would knock.

... Right?

Though once her gaze set on the figure of the punk she'd seen at the beach she froze and meeped, ducking back behind the door. It was still partially open, her long fingers holding the side as a single green eye looked up at him from behind the rim of her hat.

Alec Derring
Alec inwardly winced as she hid from him, finding it awkward to be the one hiding this time. His gaze fell to the dirt caked on his boots and he rubbed at the back of his neck for a moment as he thought of what to do.

"Aye." He said modestly, clearing his throat. "C'n Amaya come out t'play?" The teen smirked shyly though kept his gaze downwards.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya watched him, her tail giving a twitch. If she still had the ability to blush, she probably would have.

"Your not gonna... scream again, are ya?" She tentivly asked, opening the door a little bit more.

The girl wore a plain red tank top with a frayed red skirt, her tail tucked under it since the only way to hold it up was by the spikes running down her spine. The pendant she had when they first ran into each other was still around her neck, like it never saw anywhere else.

She was also standing flat-footed, her now much more elongated toes aching too much when she stood on the balls of her feet. Alec was about six inches taller then her now because of it.

Alec Derring
Alec shook his head, kicking at the ground in a jittery shift of his weight from foot to foot. "Ne-no, I got oveh that." He responded, the smirk washing from his features upon mention of his uncouth reaction to her odd features. "A' got 'The talk.'" He made the hand gestures to match, feeling just as the statement had sounded. Much less naive, much less innocent. It was amazing how much one could change in such short a time.

"Ye, m'sorreh. They shoulda... A' d'now, put up a sign or somethin. Or hand out pamphlets." He was of course referring to the misinformation.

Amaya Vaughan
"Ah. I see." Amaya frowned. "And it's okay... your not the first to react to me in that way. And you didn't know." She forced a tiny smile, then opened the door up all the way. "It would be easier if the other islanders didn't have to tell the new people the bad news... but the staff doesn't put many of the burdens on their own shoulders."

Ugh, she was rambling again.

"So uh..." The lizard paused. "Did you wanna come in? Or... take a walk? You probably have a lot of questions." Her gaze drifted up from her freakishly long toes to his face.

Alec Derring
A part of him considered leaving her be, but at this point Alec was hungry for attention and another friendly conversation. Although he greatly appreciated Antony and Joli's understanding acceptance, Amaya was right. He had lots of things on his mind.

"Ye... c'n a' come in? A' d'n think the doc will be answerin me questions anytime soon."

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya nodded and stepped aside to allow him in, going to a nob on the wall by the door. She turned the heat down to 'normal' for him. "Sorry if it's a little hot in here. I don't take well to air conditioning anymore."

Once he was inside she closed the door and turned her stereo down a little. There was a tiny table by the window with two chairs by it where he could sit, or he could take residence on her bed. It didn't matter much to her.

"Ask away."

The teen smiled and sat down in one of the chairs, spinning it around so her tail could hang off the back and onto the floor. The fact she was straddling it didn't seem to bother her... afterall, there wasn't many other ways for her to sit anymore.

The fact that Alec had screamed, ran away and made her cry the other day seemed to be lost on her. He had come back. He had appologized and it wasn't his fault.

"Oh and... what's your name? I didn't catch it."

Alec Derring
"Alec Derring at ye service." He responded straight-faced, slumping down onto her bed as if he had been welcomed from the very beginning. He paused to organize his thoughts and many questions, feeling more relaxed now that she seemed to have trusted his apology as sincere. "Alright, how the 'ell did th'mad Doc get all these people? A' mean, a' betcha 'ave a mum n' dad." He pointed to the reptilian girl to try and relate her to the situation. He didn't miss his father yet seeing as he'd only been gone for a few days so far, but the thought that he'd never be able to leave-- Antony's words echoed again in his mind --it made him anzy, jittery.

"An' what th'bloody fook is up with the aminals? What is goin ON 'ere?" He slid forward on the mattress, folding his torso.

Amaya Vaughan
"Well..." Amaya started, fidgetting with her long fingers. "He gets them by different means. Some people came here thinking it was a two-week long medical study they were getting paid for, some think it's a vacation." She shrugged her scaley shoulders. "And... no, I don't have a mom or dad." She motioned over to the framed picture on the bedside table. "They were killed in a car accident when I was little. I was brought here thinking it was a place for orphans."

The picture held a young couple with their little daughter. The father had the black hair that once graced the reptiles head, the mother having the large green eyes she still kept. The little girl, whom looked to be at around the age of five sat on the father's shoulders. She had black hair and an overall slightly chubby apperance. Her hair was black like the father and cut short, the only thing linking her to be that exact person frozen in time was her eyes. And even they were larger, the whites around them barely visable after so many changes.

"As for the animals... I dunno, to be honest." Amaya rested her arms on the back of the chair and then her chin ontop of them. "From what I've heard they're luring people here and injecting them with... animal DNA or something. For cellular manipulation to help with diseases and stuff." Another pause. "I dunno what turning us into animals has anything to do with curing cancer."

Alec Derring
Alec shut his jaw, mutely staring at Amaya. An orphan. Lovely. He was battin' a million today. Steel grey eyes turned to the picture frame though the sick feeling in his stomach made him unable to stare at it for very long. "Well... y'know what a' mean." He mumbled, wondering if she'd kick him out of her room soon. "Sorreh." He was always apologizing for something, dammit.

All in all, he was receiving the answers he wanted but they weren't making him feel any better. In fact, he felt like he was going to puke. Peirced brow furrowed as he stared at his boots again, one hand idly placing with the metal spikes ornamenting the other. "Am a' gonna turn in'teh a lizehd too?" The question was innocent like something from a child. Joli was a lizard. Amaya was a lizard. Hell, Antony could've been some... furry lizard from Africa. He wouldn't know any better.

Amaya Vaughan
"It's okay, it's long done with." The iguana shrugged her shoulders, not looking particularly sad about it. It wasn't something she openly talked about all the time, but it didn't really hurt to mention it when it came up.

"I dunno. Everyone seems to be turning into something different. You could always hit 0 and ask them." Amaya pointed to the intercom. "I can't say you'll get a straight answer, but it might help to... y'know, prepare. As best you can for something like this." She frowned and looked over at him, feeling sorry for the poor guy. Why did Moreau have to pick such good lives to ruin? He didn't even seem much older then she was.

Alec Derring
Alec couldn't help but chuckle as she mentioned asking the research staff for answers to his particular injection. She seemed so relaxed about it all, like there was nothing unusual about calling someone up and asking them just how bad they were going to mutilate him. "Neh." He smiled, straightening to stretch out his back. "A' d'n wanna know anymore." Funny. Different animals? He could've sworn Antony had a... tongue... thing... going on. Definetly.

Amaya Vaughan
It seemed to be getting harder and harder for her to relive her own first experiances on the island. When you dealt with it for almost a year... it got 'normal'.

"I didn't wanna know either. I eventually found out on my own, after my second change." The girl motioned to her long tail, which twitched as she flicked her large, pink tongue.

Alec Derring
Alec couldn't help but laugh, not maliciously so much as in perverse amusement of Amaya's appendages. Spikey tail and all, how cool was that? "Can ye climb trees now? Do ye talk aminal-talk?" He looked much more interested in the conversation now, as if trying to find positives in the horrible situation they'd all been thrown into. "A' betcha d'n get sunburnt." He pointed to her scales, finding it fascinating how they glistened. His childisness often came out in serious conversations as this but he still held a thread of maturity somewhere in his being.

"Aye... does i' hurt?" He grimaced, visibly cringing to brace himself for the answer.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya didn't join in his laughter outloud, but did smirk. "Yeah, I can climb trees really well now. Not sure if I can talk to iguanas, but right now I wouldn't really doubt it."

"And sunburnt?" This thought had never occured to her. "Huh... guess I don't." She smiled. No sunburn was really something to think positive about.

Though once again, the topic was thrown into a more serious one. "Uh... yeah. A lot." The lizard frowned and looked back at him. "I'm sorry. I wish you didn't have to be here and go through all this."

Alec Derring
Alec pursed his lips, fidgitting with his chin stud in a nervous gesture. All this talk of hoplessness and pain, he didn't want to think about it. Naturally, he tried to avoid the thought altogether. It was the best way to survive.

"Less go for a walk." The punkster gave a wild grin out of the blue, abruptly leaping up from his seat. He dashed over and tugged at the iguana's arm, unaffected by the feeling of grasping the scaley appendage. He wanted to meet more people, see if there were any other cool people around that looked like her. Plus, from what he could tell it'd do good for her to get some air.

Amaya Vaughan
"Hm?" Amaya blinked and watched as he shot up and tugged at her arm. Once again, she was glad she wasn't able to blush anymore.

"Oh, okay." She smiled and stood up, walking with him to the door. "Where to? Any place you haven't seen yet?"

The teen closed the door to her duplex and looked up at him.

Alec Derring
Alec looked to the sky as he recollected where he'd been so far. "A' been to th' beach, wandeh'd around th'jungle a bit. A' ate at th' caf too?" He didn't know what else there was to do around the island, from what it how sounded there was much more than the limited area he'd seen so far. "Anywhere fun?"

Lion Around ... *shot*

Rex Vadnais
Rex wandered his way out of the cafeteria and slowly made his way towards his duplex. He wished that it could've been a bit... more like home, just that stupid call to the labs would hopefully make things all the better.

He examined the duplexes as usual, reading over the names on the doors once again. He'd grown to recognize several names, though more and more name plates began to appear on the duplex further down the way. Moreau had been busy taking lives.

Rex spotted two figures standing outside a duplex, one he didn't recognize, but another was the oh-too-familiar shade of green. "Amaaaayaaa!" He hollered, picking up to the jog so he could get to the lizard-girl he'd missed so much recently.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya thought for a moment. "Theres the entertainment room. I've never been in there much, but I think they had a lot of different movies and videogames."

Though she was suddenly ripped from her train of thought as someone called her name. Green eyes scanned the area before she caught sight of the all too familiar man jogging towards her. "Rex!" Her somber expression turned right upside down, having missed the man she had grown so close to in such a short period.

Alec Derring
Alec jumped as he heard the holler, glancing over in the direction of the approaching character with a bewildered expression. "Friend o' yours?" He churred to Amaya, scanning over his overall look.

Rex Vadnais
Rex clashed with Amaya in a full clinging hug, squishing his cheeck upon her scaley head. "How have you been? I haven't seen you in ages." Rex's day just got a whole lot better.

Then Rex shifted his attention to the other man standing outside Amaya's duplex. "Well, you're new." Rex mumbled to himself, flashing a very toothy and fanged grin in the his direction. He extended a paw to shake the man's hand, "M'name's Rex."

Amaya Vaughan
"Yah!" The reptile squealed as she was lifted about and hugged. Grinning, she returned it enthusiastically. Wow, today was going very well. Hopefully it would stay that way.

"I've been alright, managing..." She trailed off and looked between the two, allowing them introductions.

Alec Derring
Alec looked distracted, shuffling off to the side when the two happily embraced in case he'd get booted or something in the process. When Rex offered a paw, it took the teen a few moments for the gesture to register as he glanced between Amaya and this new scruffy male. "Oh!" His hand shot out to accept the shake, not being used to such formal greetings. A social exchange between guys in the town he grew up in usually consisted of a few head-nods and a couple of "Aye"'s.

"Alec." He responded, smirking at his observation. "Ye, newbie. Shoulda leaped off th' fookin choppah when a' had a chance." He laughed at this and pulled his hand away quick, stuffing them self-consciously into his short pockets.

Rex Vadnais
Rex chuckled at Alec, crossing his arms tightly across his chest. At least this man seemed to be adjusting well, better than some of the others from what he could tell. "Helicopter? Well, at least you had that chance." A crooked grin creeped across Rex's lips, "I, uh, wasn't so lucky."

He stepped to the side and reached a claw around Amaya's waist protectively. "How long have you been here?"

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya fell to silence, allowing the two men to communicate. She allowed the older man to put his arm around her waist, for the third time that bad glad she wasn't able to blush. Though she still stayed in the middle off to the side, as to not make Alec feel awkward or uncomfortable since they obviously knew eachother better.

The man she had developed slight feelings for and the attractive guy she had just met standing on each side of her. Oh jeeze. Thankfully the iguana was good at burrying such thoughts and emotions.

Alec Derring
Alec spared him the retelling of a bad story, learning quick that curiousity was sometimes best left unpersued. "A' couple o' days?" He answered, stepping back to lean against the wall of Amaya's duplex. "S'not that bad a' guess. A' think all this weird shite hasn't sunk into me head yet, y'know what a' mean?" He laughed again, wondering if his nervousness was turning out to be obvious.

The punk teen fell silent for the moment. He kept his hands in his pockets as he slumped his shoulders, creating a look more indicative of an uncertain young boy than a brash, rowdy exterior. He took the opportunity to stare at the couple, the slight tufts of golden fur on Rex a sharp contrast to the sleek scales on the hairless Amaya. His hands had been awkward too, feeling leathery to the touch. The teen felt awkward, to say the least, a mental battle raging between whether it was inpolite to stare or rude to constantly avert his eyes.

Rex Vadnais
Rex rubbed Amaya's side affectionately before retracting his hand from the girl's green back. The pause in the conversation also gave Rex to size up the newcomer. Alec didn't appear as big as he had moments before, suddenly shrinking in size as he leaned against Amaya's duplex wall. He noticed Alec examinging the two of them as well. In an effort to make the obviously uncomfortable teen feel welcome, he continued the conversation where it dropped off suddenly.

"A few days? Well, uh, welcome to the ranks." Rex paused once more and rubbed his padded hand up and down his arm anxiously. "Things didn't really hit me until.. well, I reckon just before this happened." He swept his hands upward, motioning to the changes, tail flicking noticeably about behind him.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya noticed his change in attitude once the lion man had come around. Knowing it well, she tried to bring up a subject that hopefully all of them could enjoy.

"Well, we were on our way to the entertainment room. You wanna tag along or did'ja just come from there?" She asked Rex, then glanced over at Alec.

Alec Derring
Alec nodded mutely as he listened to Rex, looking intrigued and attentive but clearly not himself. It was bad enough being lectured by a furred woman, befriending a reptile, he wasn't sure he could deal with all the anomalies the island was throwing at him all at once. His mind was on a railway to one big trainwreck sooner or later. The normally outgoing teen was becoming more and more a speck in the chaotic bigger picture.

"D'they got ping pong?" He smirked, getting up off the wall, determined to make a good impression now. He would cling to any social interaction he could get.

Rex Vadnais
Rex was glad Amaya picked up the conversation as well. "The entertainment room? Sure." He said, just coming from the cafeteria, but whatever. The only time he'd been in the entertainment room before was when he stumbled upon Awen. Oh, Awen... Rex only knew that she was alive thanks to Avery, but he missed his manta, his last memory of the girl in a fluster on the morning of his change.

Rex started to make his way towards the town hall with the other two, then made an attempt to ease Alec's question, "Ping pong? Gosh I haven't played that in so long. To tell you the truth, I don't know if they have a table or not. I doubt it." his attention had been afixed to a tv screen and a crying Avery last time he was in that room, Rex didn't recall seeing one though.

Amaya Vaughan
The girl started walking as well, her pace at some strange swagger as her tail moved from side to side behind her and her long toes curled a little with every step to keep from hitting the ground.

"I know they have videogames and movies though." She chimed in.

Alec Derring
Alec dragged his feet into motion to keep up with the two, pulling out a cigarette and beginning a furious rummage for the lighter in his shorts. "Ah well, i' figures." He smirked as the cig hung from his lips, now reduced to turning his pockets inside out.

"D'ye know what they're turnin' ye in'teh?" He looked up at the felinesque man as he fell in pace with him, finally able to successfully locate his lighter to put it to use.

Rex Vadnais
The tail flailed a bit at the recognition of the animal within him, Rex was glad that there was another person who appeared to be comfortable with the changes. Suddenly, he didn't feel so alone anymore.

"The animal? Ahh, I'm not exactly sure, but as this girl mentioned," he tossed his head in Amaya's direction, "we're guessing it's a lion." Rex slowed his pace slightly so the other's could keep up with his long strides, it was a problem he'd grown to ignore. "our only hint to the change is m'tail." The tufted stalk wiggled once more, partly on Rex's will, though mostly on it's own accord.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya seemed to go into short bursts of silence, something that hadn't happened when she first arrived here. But recently she had been finding talking to much to be a hassle, something telling her that it was better to just stay quiet and not jump into other's conversation.

They got to the entertainment room, the lizard opening up the door awkwardly with her large hands. "Here we go."

Alec Derring
Alec skipped a step in his uneven strides, flicking Rex in the arm in a burst of excitement. "A' lion! Lion's are fookin amazin' man, fair job!" before he could ellbaorate further on his adoration for the lions he'd seen on tv as a child, he noticed they had reached the entertainment area. He skidded over to the doorway as the entrance to the room was reached, peeking over Rex's broad shoulders to peer inside. He gave a loud hoot when he noticed the xbox in particular.

Rex Vadnais
Rex held the door open over Amaya's head, chivalrously insisting for the others to enter the game room first. "After you..."

Rex's pent up excitement about his change suddenly exploded out of his mouth, "Oh gosh, I know! I'm really excited about my change as well." He fumbled over his words towards the end of his sentence, remembering Amaya's feelings about the changes. "Though it isn't all rainbows and butterflies. Changing hurts... alot." He followed the others into the entertainment room, chuckling inwardly at Alec's loud exclamation.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya walked into the room and then blinked in surprise, green eyes trailing back to the lion. She had no idea he was so gungho about it.

"Well, nice to know your excited about it. Keeps things positive for ya." She wasn't really mad at him for not hating such a thing. If anything, she was glad he found positive in it.

Alec Derring
Alec sped forwards into the room, eyes passing right by the stack of books and magazines as if they were as useless as a haircomb to him. He instead made a sprint and flying-leap onto a nearby couch, making sure it was near the tv. He sprawled out further, uncaring of his muddy boots as he located a controller for the game console. "Ye, gotta make sure there's somethin else t'make this place suck more." He mumbled to Rex in reply of his "painful transformation" comment, turning the controller in his hands as he looked at it.

Rex Vadnais
Rex wanted to say "Yeah, I wouldn't want it any other way." to Amaya, though for some reason saying that seemed out of place to the tall man. He was glad that she wasn't defensive or angry at him for his opinoin on the oh-so-touchy situation on the island. "It's hard to explain my true feelings. Changing really... intrigues me... though I still think that what Moreau's doing s'wrong." There. It was out in the open for people to know. Rex liked the transformations. He'd learned that from pain came knowledge, and with knowledge came strength. "Why not make the best of what y've got to work with?"

Rex shrugged, slowly astarting to feel that it was okay to be different, even if others didn't agree with him. He approached the enthusiastic Alec with a wide grin, "You're a gamer?" he thwatted Alec's leg playfully and sat down on the couch next to him.

Amaya Vaughan
The teen let Alec shoot passed her, slowly making her way into the entertainment room.

"I wouldn't mind it nearly as much if the people he grabbed were volunteers. I try to make positive of it... but it's hard to find good in it after awhile." Amaya was probably refering to how far along she was. No hair, relying on sunlight to keep yourself going, eating nothing but veggitation, loosing your skin, and most importantly... the little things in your appearance that told you she came from her parents. Now she looked nothing like them.

The reptile walked over to the couch they were both sitting on and paused for a moment. How was she to sit on something that had a back? Slowly she climbed onto the arm of the chair and sat on it, her feet curling around on the cushions and her legs drawn to her chest a little. Her tail hung off the side, brushing the ground.

Alec Derring
Alec reluctantly slid his legs off the couch cushions, allowing for the lion man enough room to sit as well. "Not realleh." He mumbled and snickered, unable to recollect the last time he played one of these things.

He tried to withhold any more questions regarding the transformation, intentionally ostracizing himself from the conversation. He'd slipped quickly from an ever-curious mindframe to one of 'don't know, don't care' in a short amount of time, it seemed.

Rex Vadnais
"Mmm.." Rex hummed confirmingly to Amaya's statement. A new question arose in his mind, "Has anyone come to the island willingly? Like, knowing about the injections and stuff?' Froom what he could gather, everyone had wound up on the island one way or another, though the only one he could think of who actually really liked Moreau was Lauren.

He glanced back to Alec, making himself comfortable on the couch, "No? I played for my first time a few weeks ago. And basically... I got my butt kicked." Rex laughed and kicked his feet out in front of him.

Amaya Vaughan
"Not that I know of." Amaya responded as she reached down and picked up another Xbox controller from the floor. She had been a rather liesurly gamer, though from the looks of it that was shot out the window.

The bulky controller sat entirly in her palm. The only way she would ba able to play would if she tapped at the bottoms with her fingertips with it rested on her lap or something.

Alec Derring
"A' might have a chance then." Alec smirked, playing the innocent as he wondered what games they had to play in this place. He fidgetted to get more comfortable, ash falling from the cigarette he still held between his lips inconsiderately onto the cushions.

Rex Vadnais
"Might? More like 'do' " He tittered and ran a hand through his hair, it was so nice to see people once again. "So what have you done so far since yer arrival? And where have you been all week, Amaya?!"

The walls were lined with movies, games, magazines and books that Rex hadn't had a chance to look a yet. He came to his feet and approached the walls, skimming the extensive library with a clawed finger. "Sheesh, they have quite the collection here."

Amaya Vaughan
"Eh, y'know..." The girl shrugged. "Been staying in my room a lot." It was obvious what for. The situation with Alec had been a prime example of why she ended up camping out in her duplex.

Green eyes watched him go over the movies, a clawed hand setting the controller back down. She'd let them choose what they wanted to do.

Alec Derring
Alec frowned as Rex got up from the couch, wrinkling his nose at the stack of literary materials. "Books are f'ninnehs." He plainly uttered, the cig wiggling as he mumbled the speech. As he watched Amaya put the controller down out of the corner of his eye, he quickly did the same, figuring no one wanted to play anymore. Not like he cared much.

"A' nothin'. Playin' on me drums a smidge. Nice lil' gift a' got." He grinned as he mentioned his drumset amiably, besides the fact that they were a gift to continue the facade. "Meetin' people, that kinda stoof."

Rex Vadnais
For some reason, that response about books was expected. Rex hated to make superficial judgements, but alot of punkers weren't exactly literary majors. Rex was no genius either, though he figured books were helpful or enjoyable if you needed them.

"Oh, you got drums? From the labs, I assume." Rex was curious, he'd never actually learned to play an insturment before. He played the guitar a little, self taught, though he certainly wasn't any good. "the least the doctors try to do is make us feel comfortable here, though I think thats the least they can do. It's like they're trying to win us over. Though with as much as they give us, there certainly isn't much to do around here." Rex's scheduel had consisted of Sleeping, eating and running. not a whole lot more.

Amaya Vaughan
In all actuality, Amaya would have loved to play... she was just having doubts that she could anymore. Maybe a movie would be better?

"Your a drummer?" She looked over at Alec, non-existant eyebrows raising.

Alec Derring
Alec flashed a wild grin and tossed his controller onto the cushion, pausing only to readjust his cig. "Ye" He snickered, puffing out in pride of his "talent". It was rare to find people actually interested in what he spent his time doing. "From th' labs a' guess ye." He listened to Rex's comments on the staff's attempts to make the subjects comfortable, finding this as unpallatable as when Joli first discussed the matter.

Rex Vadnais
Rex wandered his way back around the couch and took his seat back up on the couch, trying to prod more from Alec's lack of detail. "Thats so cool. Did you play in a band back home?" Uh-oh, Rex thought, one thing he'd learned was to NOT bring up the mention of the mainland or home, especially around a new comer. Though Alec's accent was interesting, Rex save asking where he was from for later.

Amaya Vaughan
The lizard fell silent, resting her chin on her palms. Her long fingers curled into her palm as she watched both of them. For some reason, she was perfectly content to just sit and listen.

Alec Derring
Alec shrugged with an expression like he had tasted something horribly bitter. "Neh." He started slowly. Though he could easily lie and tell them he was some famous punk rocker star from the UK, he was a horrible liar. Too much of a conscience. "I was gettin' there though, was gonna be famous yanno." He picked at the fabric of the cushion, reaching over the side of the couch to put out his cigarette on the floor.

"And ye? Ye look like some macho guy. Bet ye woulda been some movie stah." He motioned to Rex with his spare hand as the other removed a drumstick from his pocket and began twirling it.

Rex Vadnais
Though Rex knew using the past tense in this situation was correct, it was hard to believe that their lives were basically over the minute they step foot on the island.

Rex's face turned a shade lighter than his red shirt, a white smile erupting from the blush. He laughed a little, unsure of how to react, "A macho guy, eh? Heh thanks! I think."

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya continued to watch and listen in silence. What would she have been if she hadn't come here?

Probably still an orphan at the orphanage. Then once she was out of school she'd get some dead-end job and live a normal, boring life...

Neither here nor there seemed really inviting. In both instances her life would end abruptly without really accomplishing anything.

Alec Derring
Alec snorted amusedly at Rex's reaction, wriggling around until he rose to a sitting position. "Ye well, a' better go practice. Who knows if a record guy'll be th'next on this island place." He laughed despite the stupidity of his statement, hopping up to a stand.

"I'll see ye guys around, ye?"

Fiona wasn't there at that moment, and Angharad had paced her floor aimlessly for long enough. With no belongings, there was nothing she could do to pass the time; perhaps she could request some paper, or some music, or something. But she was still reluctant to do so; by her reckoning, this was the seventh day after she'd woken up on this godforsaken island. She should really get a calendar, if only to mark the passage of time.

Muffled music had drifted up through her open window; loud pounding, from the duplex next door. She wasn't that fussed by the loud music; she'd heard louder at protest rallies. At least it meant that someone was in, and that meant at least someone to talk to.
She'd tidied up the dusty looking clothes she had been given, and pulled the comb through her hair a couple of times; at least the clothes were clean, as she'd spent yesterday afternoon wearing only the embarrasing scrubs while she had washed her clothes in the sink. No possessions really sucked sometimes.

So now she found herself at the door of the place from which the music issued, and knocked cautiously. Then a little louder, as she realised it might not be heard.
"Uh.. hello?"
PostPosted: Sun Apr 09, 2006 3:05 pm

It took awhile for a response to ensue, the noise clearly buffering the sound of the knocking and drowning it out completely. Finally the door swung open and a torrent of music was unleashed outside, a bewildered Alec with a toothbrush sticking out of his mouth poking his head out with it. "Muh?" In a second the doorway slammed shut, the music's volume fading fast to a level that was acceptable by others' terms. The door re-opened, the punk teen reappearing. "Uh.... aye?" He mumbled shyly, leaning against the doorframe in an unsure manner. He didn't recignize the girl standing there but she didn't exactly look hostile.

Angharad's smile was hesitant, but then grew bolder. For a second she felt like she was knocking on doors again and handing out leaflets, and quickly dismissed the attitude that went with that. If she was going to live here any amount of time (and the thought was already creeping treacherously in) she would want to speak to people truthfully, not that fake cheeriness that came with making people accept your leaflets.

"Hi. Uh.. this is going to sound really strange, but.." she looked aside for a moment and laughed slightly, "I live in the duplex next door.. and was.. wondering who my neighbours were. I know that sounds really lame," she added hastily, suddenly worried, "and I don't want to to disturb you.." The smile returned hesitantly.

"I'm Angharad."

Alec stared at her a moment, unaffected by her apparent uneasiness. He sized her up before continuing, not so much admiring her form as curiously analyzing it. "Eh, I ge' it. Is okeh." He smiled, straightening up in the doorway. "Alec, s'pleaseh. Wanna come in?"

He motioned his head inside, shifting his weight off of the door to open it further in invitation. "Ya next door? New 'ere too? Watch ye step." He wandered inside, kicking piles of clothes and items to make a path for walking.

"Uh... sure." She tried to make sure she wasn't treading on anything important as she came in, green eyes round at the amount of things and of course the drums that dominated the room. She finally placed his accent, as possibly Irish; his appearance was startling at first, but she'd grown used to it before. In a way she admired the fact that he could do that; she'd never got the courage to do something radical with her appearance, and remained plain and boring.

"Yeah, I'm next door, me and my friend Fiona... been here nearly a whole week now." She snorted before realising that it was a little unladylike, and caught herself with a hopefully unnoticable embarrassment. "A surprise for us. I'm guessing that you were one of the tricked ones, huh," and she gestured around at the stuff as she stood uncertainyl before opting to lean against the side of the desk.

Alec nodded, flopping down onto the stool he used while drumming, kicking off a bunch of wrinkled clothes first of course. "Ye ye." He couldn't help but laugh. It seemed everybody knew he was new and had been "tricked" onto the island. He wouldn't blame them, it was obvious though made him feel almost embarassed for falling for it. "Me n' the gal upstairs." He finally realized he hadn't seen that red-haired girl for quite sometime, a part of his mind wondering how she was coping for only a moment.

"Se how did ye take i'?" He grinned, feeling a little more lighthearted about the subject now that he was talking to a fellow "victim" of the cruel joke. He didn't seem to notice any of the aspects that were possibly making her feel self-conscious about herself; used to being the center of scrutiny himself.

Angharad crossed one ankle over the other and stared at the floor for a moment. "Ha.. not very well. One minute me and my friend are making a protest - "she stopped short of saying anything more for a moment. She was still guilty that she had been doing something illegal, even though it was right what she did, she knew it; she just wasn't sure how others would take it.
".. and the next minute, I wake up on this island with nothing but these clothes they gave me." She plucked morosely at the front of the dusty green top. "And to top it all off, I meet a bear man on the beach who tells me... we're all going turn into animals." She shrugged before laughing a little deprecatingly. "Um.. after the hysterics calmed I just had to convince myself this isn't a really, really bad dream." She tilted her head at the other teen. "What about you?"
