Anything by Neil Gaiman is garunteed to be good.
I like Phillip Pullman, R.A. Salvator (Drizzt, Forgoten Relms), Margret Weis and Tracy Hickman (And any other DragonLance book).
Sir Arthur Connan Doyle, most of the TOR fantasy books, Celia Rees, and pretty much any other book I can get my hands on.

You should see me in an bookstore, I go freaking crazy.
With books to read, I go crazier.
Let's put it this way. Yesterday I got three Gaiman books. The one I started reading (at about 6:00 pm) was some 300+ pages. When I woke up this morning I had to pick up another because the first one was done.

Yeah, that bad.

Sara Douglass has to be my most favorite. I highly recommend her Troy Game series.

I also enjoy Anne Rice... but she goes overboard on details....

Terry Pratchett is my favorite author, but he's written so damned many books I'll never get them all read. I especially like Good Omens, which he wrote with Neil Gaiman. It's about an angel and a demon who are friends working together to stop the end of the world. British comedy at its finest; it's hilarious.

I love so many books it'd be impossible to list. Right now I'm reading a lot of Diane Duane. Her Young Wizard series is really good.
