Actually, since I LIVED in France for a period of time, I can tell you that the last names DON'T come first. Not while just saying full names. The Firmin Richard business: I think that ALW just switched the names around because Richard sounded more like a first name than Firmin.

I knew the name thing didn't count in France, but it's been awhile so I wasn't saying yay or nay to that one. I know they do it in Japan and a couple of other countries, though. But thanks for clearing that up, Elanchana.

When writing your name in French, at least when you're signing your name, you write the last name first, you don't say your last name first, but you do write it like that.

And on some forms in America you are required to write your last name first. It's because you are categorized in files by your last name, not your first. If they did it the other way around, filing would be more difficult since most names are not unique.

While I was reading the book, I noticed that Erik doesn't really appear until very late. I mean, he's there in voice and everything, but he's not there there.

Because the book doesn't revolve around him. It's a thriller/mystery story about Christine Daae, the Opera House, and the strange occurrances there that happen because of her and her "teacher".

Yep...pretty much that's why.

I have another one:
Have you noticed that when Phantom is mentioned, most people think of Webber's version and not of Leroux's version (the original)?

That's because Andrew Lloyd Webber's version is a more well-known than Gaston Leroux's version.

Okay, not to be WAY off topic... but to be way of topic, did anyone else notice that you can get Erik's death mask for your avatar on gaia for a bazillion tickets? I didn't know the masks existed yet...

Yah, when someone mentioned it on one of the threads. The ticket part I mean. I knew about the mask itself since I saw it on tektek.

Has anyone noticed but me when Emmy Rossum is singing Think of Me, if you look close enough she has Winterfresh gum in her mouth. xD

I bet Winterfresh was Erik's favorite gum. That's why she had it. xD Okay no it was to make her breath smell better, but yeah. o.o She does, just watch inside her mouth next time inside of looking at her horrible attire. The reason I horrible is because it is so bright. xD

I THOUGHT she had something in her mouth!

Ah well. She was lipsyncing anyhow, so I guess she could get away with it. I'd be chewing that gum too if I had to hold my mouth open for that bit at the end, pretending to hit high notes. XD

EDIT: But I imagine if Erik ever caught that, he'd lecture her for hours on how singers never have gum in their mouths when performing.
