"I'm so sorry," He said gently pullingher into a hug. God, it was so scary to see people you first met as human changing right before your eyes. This only reminded him of how he would probably be changing too. But at least he wasn't turning into something terrible like a snake or some sort of bug. That was a good thing, right?

She was no little surprised when he reached out and hugged her and, snapping the book shut, she put her arms around him as well. True, she didn't really want pity right now...but was it pity when they both knew that he was likely to go through the same thing soon? He'd been on the island a bit longer than her, if she recalled correctly. Not like it really mattered.

"Thanks. At least we have friends in our misery," she commented. Chana tried not to think how long it had been since she'd had a simple hug...the last time had probably been with her (ex) boyfriend, just before the big fight. She sniffled, trying not to cry.

"Don't cry Chana" He said softly looking into her eyes. After a short pause he said "...You look so beautiful tonight" Even though Stewart wouldn't admit it, he really liked her.

Did he...had he really just said that? Two urges warred within Chana. She could play coy and say 'you really think so?' or something like that. Or she could say 'how could you think that, I'm turning into a beaver' and so on and so forth.

But there was no mockery in Stewart's voice that she could detect. And it didn't sound as empty as pity and consolation. She smiled as she spoke.

"That's good to hear, because I'm with most handsome guy on the island right now." Chana took a breath and leaned in to kiss his cheek. She hoped he didn't mind her fur against his skin.

Did...did she really mean that? Stewart thought a small blush appeared on his cheeks. She didn't sound like she didn't mean it...Wow, mabye she did. Stewart was filled with many emotions that he had never felt for someone before. It wasn't like how it was with Antony, this was something, something more. "You're fur" He said softly, lifting up a hand and placing it on her cheek "it's so soft"

When he lifted his hand, she almost cringed away, but he laid it gently along her face. It was so...so kind, and intimate. She smiled at him and reached out her own hand to gently rub his little horns.

"They're so cute," she told him, returning the compliment. Regardless of what he might say, she'd always thought that little nubs like that were adorable, from baby goats to baby deer.

And there was something so...so complete, so right about standing here, with Stewart. It wasn't like that last boyfriend of hers (he'd really been a jerk). It was...she was tempted to refer to Rachel at the well, sappy as it was.

Stewart blushed as she reached up to touch his horns. He still had trouble accepting the fact that they were infact a part of his body, but when she touched him it just felt right. Nothing could ruin this moment nothing...The it hit him like a brick wall. He started to feel sick, he had no clue what was wrong with him. "I'm sorry," He said looking very pale "I-I feel like there's something wrong with me" After he finshed this he turned away from her and walked back to his duplex

It was all so perfect and so right...

And then he left. The cool night air where his warm body had been near moments before was a shock to her. Chana reached out as if she could draw him back...but let her arm drop again. Maybe he just wasn't ready. Or maybe...

...well, she'd take him a care basket of some sort tomorrow morning. This morning? That's right, think of the mundane things, such as finally getting her meal. She'd see what happened with Stewart soon. Maybe tomorrow or maybe not.

It wasn't like he could leave the island. And she didn't think she'd been reading him wrong...he probably just needed time.

Don't ever think of the other possibility. Just don't.
