“I missed you too,” Lyndin said, and though he did not want Aliez to hide, he stayed still so he could disappear into his shoulder. “I also hated you staying away. But it’s something easily resolved for the future. The next time you try to disappear, come find me. We’ll talk. Whatever troubles are burdening you, we will figure out a solution. Or,” he nearly shrugged, but still himself to make sure Aliez didn’t think he was being pushed away, “I can listen if you just need to talk. No matter what you have to say.”
He doubted Aliez could find words capable of chasing him away. If he said
too much they’d navigate it.
Better to control the floodgates than to let the dam crack and wash everything away.
“I will help you work towards the future you want to see.”
Because, maybe it wasn’t so different from the one he wanted to see, too.
