“And here I always dreamed of being a beautiful widow,” Malory sighed with wistful disappointment. Possibly another bullet dodged by Eles, the secret half brother, locked up by illicit obsession and a love that knows no social norms.
Idly he picked a few shades of blonde for Eles to choose from, texted his favorite stylist for his preferred bleach kit, then went back to adding more things to his digital shopping cart. Some fresh veggies, quite a few batteries, a pacifier…
Leading Eles out of the atrium and toward the door with no intention of dressing up to go out (which Malory would describe on the way over as a power move) he kept adding items. Toothbrush, razors, pin cushion, squirt gun, hoolahoop, vibrator, bear spray…
“I hear their drink list is very…experimental, so…” Maybe eat some food first? “You should have a lot of fun!”
Zip ties, noise cancelling headphones, 5 different types of lubricant, a canvas swing, a duffel bag, an electric carving knife…

"Go marry someone you want dead, then." The solution was exceedingly obvious; clearly there were something else afoot blocking Malory's wishes. "Unless — do you need identity papers for that? That'd be ******** bullshit. Can you believe they want ID for ******** cigarettes of all things…" Eles huffed for that, eyes rolling as he had quickly lost interest in the speed at which Malory chose items for his virtual cart.
So he missed the fun ones, really. Nonetheless, he let Malory stare down his phone in his little frenzy while he was politely dragged to the door.
He could go for more alcohol. More interesting alcohol, too. And if they mixed something extra into it? Eles thought that worth a try, too, no matter the result. As long as it kept his attention, as long as it kept him in the moment, what did it matter what happened? So he smiled when he heard such news, already planning how much he could drink without painting the bathroom that night.
In a sense, it was better that they weren't dressed up for it. A better means of ending the evening than watching someone else's fun waft slowly across the night sky.
