"At least your reverence for Azehra is already at an acceptable level, though I think you might benefit from some of the lessons Phei has received." Her head returned to his shoulder, antennae brushing the nape of his neck.
"No one will strike you down for setting foot on my island. You are astounding. You are intelligent. You will make a wonderful parent."

Xaawo watched a spot on the carpet in silence for a bit, wrung out from yet another taxing confession. She felt vindicated that he had agreed. Now all they had to do was follow through.

howthpost tenNow it was Howth's turn to nudge Xaawo's side, his mirth escaping him again. She had been so certain about their success with Azehra that it had seemed like she had no misgivings at all, but now he could see that she was just as nervous as he was.
"Sorry. I had to narrow down the list. If I went through all of your good qualities, we would be here for days." He gently rested his cheek against the crown of her head.
"You're tenacious. Nothing can stop you. You're graceful, elegant, deadly, and dare I say... sexy with a spear." He laughed softly, feeling foolish. "You are an unparalleled painter. You're the smartest person I know."
Howth ran his thumb along the underside of his new ring. "I love you, Xaawo."
