well that was certainly a choice. And an opportunity. No doubt the challenger was concerned with the bat, which was valid, but the champion elects to drop it as he raises his boot, attempting a bigboot to the face as he charges in as he's likewise trying to get Ares to drop the chain

Ares would eat a boot, stumbling away from Lykos. But just as soon as it seemed like Ares was in danger, he gripped the chain a little bit tighter, and would rotate his body into a swing aimed at the abdomen of Lykos!

Lykos wasn't expecting Ares to remain on his feet after a straight boot to the face, making him equally unaware of the possiblity that not only would Ares keep the chain, but swing and hit him in the abdomen, the blow dropping the champion down to a knee

It seems like the ploy was successful, sacrificing a huge strike to the side of his head, he opened up for a clear shot with the trusty chain of his.
Getting back completely to a vertical, Ares began to pick at the champion some more. Doubling up the chain before bringing it down on the back of Lykos!

a shot to the back hits the champion and he stands up, walking forward several steps as he attempts to put some distance between himself and the challenger

Lykos was keen to the situation he was in, trying to opt out. But giving away his advantage was not an option as Ares gave chase. Looking to catch Lykos by wrapping the chain around the neck of Lykos. Yanking opposite of the path Lykos was taking to get away to get an effective choke.

Lykos needed space and Ares was determined not to give it to him, now attempting to choke him with the chain. As the chain comes around his throat, Lykos steps back towards Ares, attempting to catch him in a waistlock, then lift and drop him with a back suplex

It seems Alexander got a little eager, throwing himself into the arms of Lykos which would grab, lift, and drop Ares to the mat with a back suplex that caused Ares to drop the chain on impact.

normally, Lykos might get up and go right back on the attack. However, he's just been hit with a metal chain twice and nearly choked out. After desperately countering out of the choke with the suplex, the champion remains down for several moments, trying to will himself to fight through the pain to get up again

Rolling around the mat for a moment to ease the discomfort in his back, Ares would flip on to his stomach and begin to make his crawl to the ropes. Luckily getting some time to move.

Lykos can't stay down forever, He's got a title to retain and to do that, he's got to pin him. The Dark Wolf gets to his feet and spots Ares doing the same with the ropes. Moving forward, he attempts to catch Ares again, then launch him across the ring with a release German suplex

The Dark Wolf definitely staying true to his name, but Ares was in a pretty advantageous spot. Feeling Lykos arms wrap around his waist, Ares looked to hook and sink deeper into the ropes in an act of self preservation.

Lykos feels resistance. That's frustrating. So he attempts to club Ares across the back a few times to get him to release the ropes and try again for the suplex

With a bit of convincing, Ares released his hold on the ropes and was tossed backwards for a nasty german suplex. Bouncing off the mat upon landing and crashing into the ropes on the other side of the ring. Lykos showcasing his strength with that one!

getting to his feet again, Lykos makes a point to kick the chain out of the ring. No need to get hit with that again. quickly refocusing on Ares, he goes to boot him out under the bottom rope to the floor
