Elliot scoffed again as he curled his finger around Michael’s. “You think we’d get sick of you? You can’t move out, you’re never getting rid of us. Your retirement home will be wherever we are. No one else is going to be able to keep up with you and Devyn!”
He held Michael’s finger and smiled again. “I’ve already got two backup plans if you try to change the deal, by the way. Just in case fate tempts you to rebel against this very legally binding contract,” he squeezed Michael’s pinky for emphasis.
“If you make the call that it’s time to go, we’re going. All of us. Even if I have to drag you both out with me.”

Michael laughed softly, but made a nervous grimace at the thought of Elliot having backup plans.
“I’m almost tempted to ask, but I’m worried about plausible deniability,” he teased. Kind of. Elliot was too clever for his own good. He was sure he really did have backup plans, and there was a part of Michael that was grateful for it.
“Alright. Well… I’ll make sure Devyn knows about the plan, too. Might need your help pulling him out if he’s not as agreeable as I am.”
There were a lot of different outcomes that could happen. They were facing a very real threat on an enormous level for the first time. There was no telling how things would turn out, but he wanted to keep his family and his friends safe.
“Come on. Let’s get more of this done so Lucien doesn’t scold us for slacking off when he gets back,” he sighed, but was still smiling. He even took a moment to use his other hand to ruffle Elliot’s hair for old time’s sake.
