Doing some quick mental math, Nis, estimated that she’d used about half of the ten or so seconds that she had as far as immobilizing someone. Gnawing on a thumbnail, she paced for a few moments, considering.
“Before you do, please tell me, in as much detail as you can, what exactly you felt. If we’re going to make me momentarily brilliant, I’d like as much information going in to work with.”
Smiling a little, she shrugged and stretched her shoulder muscles. Really, Kiringul was being very good about all of this. She’d have to think of something nice to do for him as a thank you.

Kiringul pulled on a thoughtful face–it mostly looked like he was just glaring at the floor, though–before eventually responding. "Cold," he said, then lifted his hands and added, "on my palms and fingers," before pointing to his neck and face. "And on my neck and face. It wasn't for too long so it was uncomfortable but not too bad."
He put both palms to his face then, in an effort to warm both back up.
"Is that something you expected, or new info to you?"

Cold again. And once again, only where there was exposed skin. So, poor Ekstrom hadn’t been a fluke. Okay then. Mouth quirking into a half smile at Kiringul’s questions, Nis wobbled her hand in the air.
“Bit of both, to be honest. I was sparring with a Mercury knight recently and she reported the same thing. But as you and she are the only ones who have actually talked to me about what you’re feeling, I wasn’t sure if it was a weird coincidence happening or what. But you’re experiencing the same thing, so it’s not a fluke or funky coincidence.”
Maybe Kiringul’s horn blowing had some lingering effects on her mental clarity. Or it had helped just enough before that she could see possibilities now that she had information to work with. In fact, she could now see some reasons why people felt cold. Starlight just carried a certain aesthetic with it. In words or art, it was always cold starlight. Never warm or welcoming in any of the works she’d seen.
Apparently, whatever cosmic gods were in charge of magic assignation had a touch of Tumblr Tween to them when it came to The Aesthetic.
“Just to verify, you only felt the cold on bare skin?”
Perhaps, the real powerhouse of her magic was the cold. It lasted longer than rendering someone immobile. And if someone couldn’t move, they couldn’t get warm… Huh.
“D’you know,” she began slowly, working things out as she spoke, “I don’t think I have ever seen an officer with more exposed skin than their face and maybe hands? But even a super cold face could be distracting enough to give me time. The Mercury knight I mentioned had about the same amount of coverage as a typical officer and she was down and shivering.”
The more she considered, the more she was convinced that she’d been focusing on the wrong thing earlier. Suddenly, Nis grinned and wrinkled her nose comically at Kiringul.
“Maybe you don’t need to sound the horn again. That first dose seems to have woken my brain up better than we thought.”

The Squire nodded at her question, and as she sifted through her thoughts he pulled a thoughtful expression on as well, wondering about the various agents he'd come across in his time. Granted, his had been a more sporadic involvement, but still. Her observation rang true for him as well, and again he nodded.
"True, and it can be. Going down the slopes, I try to cover up my face as much as I can 'cause not only is it cold, but it ********' hurts after a while. So." He wrinkled his nose at the idea of lingering in the cold of Nis's magic for very long, and he felt a little bad for that Mercury Knight she just mentioned, but…well. It sounded like she was fine by the end?
Kiringul found himself smiling when she said his magic may have done the trick the first time around. "Good to know it's useful for something," he said, glancing down at the weapon in his hand and forcing back the urge to sigh.
"I'm thinking of signing up for some fight training type classes now that I'm starting to take this more seriously. At least something so I can defend myself while I use this, y'know?"

"A very good plan," Nis murmured, tapping her chin with a forefinger thoughtfully. She was clearly considering what Kiringul had said about the effects of cold on the face. Then, she arched an eyebrow and gave her fellow knight a little shake of the head.
"Don't ever discount yourself or what your magic can do. I think honing your fighting skills is a very good idea. And we both have a better idea now of what our magics do. That's worth something right?"
Softening the rebuke with a smile, she released her hold on her stick and watched it vanish back to wherever such things resided when not in use.
"I might look into some classes myself."

He gave a weak smile when she chided him, though there was the slightest hint of gratitude in it.
"Hey, if you find a good one, lemme know?" Summoning his phone from subspace, he quickly navigated to add a contact before offering it to her. "If you're cool with keeping in touch outside of that, that is. No pressure."

Taking the offered phone, Nis quickly tapped in her number before saving and returning the phone. Lips quirking in a quick smile, she thought that she needed to work on getting her signet ring caught up with the times. Having to haul out a phone just felt like too many steps to do a very simple thing. Something she’d have to look into later.
“I am not only cool with it,†she stated firmly, “But I will always have time for my brother. So please don’t ever feel like reaching out is bothering me.â€
Satisfied that she’d made some very good use of her time, indeed, Nis gave Kiringul a casual salute before sighing a little and powering down. It was safe enough and she had a few errands left to do before she could go home.
“See you around, Kiringul,†she said. “And I am serious. Don’t hesitate to reach out.â€
