Lyonesse rolled his eyes at the reminder. Honestly, the whole thing had been so pathetic, from what he'd heard...how anyone on either side had respected Castor at all after that was beyond him.
But then, there were plenty of people who loved violence and would have been happy to turn Destiny City into a bloodbath, if they had the capability.
Still, the not-threat made him snort. "I learn slowly, but I learn, and whacking me with a spear might be the trick to making the lesson stick." His finger hovered for a moment on a particular scroll, but only for a moment before he withdrew. It wasn't really a memory, just a sense--tax records, and an exhausted sigh, like Leolin was tired of dealing with them.
Ah. But of course Benitoite would ask that question.
"Oh," Lyonesse said, deadpan, "did you not hear about me being trapped in a crystal in the Rift for ...oh, a couple years? I was absolutely cracked in the head when I came out. Attacked people I cared about. It just wasn't sustainable--and I didn't like the man Chaos was making me." He exhaled between his teeth.
"It's not the same for everyone. Doesn't seem to be the same for you. But I did what I had to."
He sighed, staring at the shelf like something would manifest if he just looked hard enough.
Benitoite was right. They absolutely needed to work together.
"I'm sorry. I'm not seeing anything. But if I learn more--" He held up a hand, where he wore his signet ring. "I can use this fancy thing to send you a letter. Works for anyone as long as I can address it by name."

While the smaller male wasn't opposed to blood shed there was a certain fairness in using magic and what it provided them. Using a gun was anything but that. There was no deffending against it and nothing which could be done against it - it was unfair and dishonorable. He had some honor and morals after all, just nto as much as some. He did wonder how few knew of what Castor had done though, for him to have not been shunned entierly. Though he also hadn't made his presence known in how long? Perhaps that was a sign...perhaps he had shunned all of them? Decided he was too good for them all or perhaps something else. Either way he wasn't upset with things, though his magic right now might be nice, he wans't going to go wishing for Castor to turn up and assist in this fight. Let theglory go to all those who put in the work...to those who continued this fight and did so with what magic gave them. The occasional bat, or object, used was even acceptable. A gun however...would never be.
"Ah, I had heard something baout you missing in action. I was unaware you'd been trabbed in crystal...and come out of it worse than Obsidian? " He questioned, not even wondering if the other knew of the red haired general. He just assumed the other had heard of him, perhaps run into him, at least once. He wasn't around anymore, hadn't been in years, but he had run into him once or twice. "Hard to believe anyone can be more loose than him...or Castor." Because he was certain that the prince was not stable either.
"No, I've learned to balance things, it just takes a lot...and some help as well. I cannot say what I would have been if not for the chaos, how can I when I was in high school when I joined, but I do know who I am now." And he liked to think that he was stable most of the time, with the occasional outburst, but time had tempered him enough. He wasn't going to be as emotional as he'd once been, that had been what hurt Bazzite the most, he'd learned over time via missteps and mistakes made.
"That's fine, and yes...a letter would be nice. Is there a way to contact you or should I just set up a place now so I can drop books somewhere for you to collect them?" Like he'd once done with passing letters to Polaris, he wouldn't mind iif she were around right now. With a beast like this on the loose having that princess around might really come in handy. She struck him as the sort to work together for a greater goal, and not to go preening like a peacock, he hadn't minded her in the past. Whatever had happened to her...well. He didn't wish her dead, at least not right now, she was needed right now. That wasn't to say he didn't want to see order either corrupt or die, he did wish to see either thing, but right now...right now she was needed.

"I have no idea who Obsidian is," Lyonesse said, "but I know that I came out of it wrong. Getting the Chaos out of my starseed put my head back on straight. It was that or lose myself completely." It had all seemed so clear, then. Still was, now. But Lyonesse knew he wasn't going to move Benitoite's needle. Someone in as long as he'd been? There was very, very little that could be done to convince him of what he could be instead.
"You know, I literally don't remember the person I was before all of this?" There was something melancholy in his voice. "You lose memories, when you change sides. And I forgot whoever I was outside the uniform. So I literally have no idea who I'd be without all of this."
He'd made someone new, built a new life for himself. But it hadn't been easy, and it certainly wouldn't have been his first choice.
"Give me a place and a time, and I'll show to pick them up," he said, and he extended a hand. "If you're there, I wouldn't mind another chat. For now...back to Earth?"

"Ah, lucky perhaps then. He was a general when we were both new to things. A bit...unsettling and if I remember right. I didn't see him often and only met him once I believe. But it left something of an impression." How could it not? Though al lthe years, all the thigns which had transpired between than and now, it was all a blur of half memories and the opinions of a new officer who wasn't nearly as skilled as he was now.
"I do know that, but I know it's different for everyone. You were...interesting, a bit like Bazzite had been, though I'd say alittle less erratic." Shrugging as he spoke slowly, thoughtfully. No, the other was right in that he'd never be changing sides, especially now when he had what he'd been needing for so long. He had never realized he needed his family so close, officers and corrupt senshi as well, but it seemed like that and having Rene in his life was just what he'd needed.
Taking the offered hand he nodded. "If I'm there...we can talk. If you have plant questions leave them where I'll leave the books. I'll check for notes." Because as much as he disliked senshi and knights, and order in general, he did like the idea of plants and these ones were unique and should continue to grow. "That tree...I wonder if I can grow it in a green house..." So no one would see it, just him. "If there were seeds..." Since the wonder they were at was on Earth, right? Or something like that...because he was being offered a trip back to Earth. But he was an Earth knight. Some thigns he did not want to know about.
"The small park, in the fashion district, it's across from a cafe. I'll leave the books in a backpark high up in a tree by the single bench in that park. Tomorrow night you can get it." He'd be by early to drop thigns off, though he wasn't goign to say that. It was a location, one quickly pulled out of the air. It would work.
