“I don’t know others very well, I don’t think they’ll do much for me - for you.” He didn’t know them well enough, and wanted to keep things that way, but if he had to reach out he would…much as he didn’t like the idea one bit. It was only because he understood being in a similar position to the other.
“It would be nice but there is no way to live here. No power.” No power which meant no way to keep food from spoiling here, unless it was all canned and the like, it wouldn’t be the best way of living. He figured it would be on par with camping out in terms of food and how to wash and such, though perhaps worse when it came to bathing and such. “No running water, no way to dispose of things. This is a place to visit - not live.”

Listening as he paced slightly, looking over the area as they mentioned less than helpful connections. It gave him ideas, thoughts on how to single out the weaker links and offer them a better option. It wouldn’t be like Ako though, he knew she was in a state when he’d happened upon her. That was something very different, not as much on the front of pulling people from order to the correct side of things, it was more pulling someone from the edge much as Liam had done for him.
“A shame… but still… it’s somewhere s-safe.” Frustratingly out of his reach without finding someone as easy to convince to bring him. A nagging curiosity that he knew couldn’t easily be placated. There were so many knights, so many pockets of resistance, and all he wanted was to find out more. Touching the cleared counter, he looked back over at Novella.
“I believe this place is still a sanctuary even without those things. It m-makes me wonder if I could find one… maybe in time?” Thinking on it, he wondered how much time had passed.
“I know my son might worry… would I be able to return here, if I found you again while trying to r-run? He can’t lose me too but… I need to figure things out.” Leaning into it as he traced the wood grain of the counter, slightly surprised at how well it had been preserved with the supposed length of time these places were left abandoned. There were so many more questions but he had a feeling this newer squire had few connections and even fewer answers.
But still, seeing them isolate gave him a good enough reason to keep tabs on this one.

“A sanctuary indeed, even as it lacks.” In many ways it lacked and could certainly be made into more of a sanctuary, though it would take time, he was going to make it into the safe place away from his family that he needed. The time and effort would be worth it - he knew it.
“You can…if you find me again.” He might be hesitant on any sort of social interactions going beyond the one time, but he knew the other needed help. He could understand the others problem personally so he was going to help the other, despite his usual hesitations and lacking social skills.
“I'll help with that but I can’t offer much else.” He was both too new but also not one who went getting close and friendly with others, that required skills Novella did not possess. Without realizing it he was painting a bulls eyes right on his back, but the other also didn’t know Novella and didn’t know his personality. Because as much as he might be putting a bulls eye right in his own back he was also not the sort to give to pressure, pressure gave him strength though it wasn’t the usual strength people expected.

“Tonight, w-well… was a lot more help than I thought anyone would g-give.” Pulling a hand to trace carefully at his throat, he looked off at the rows of fabric.
“It’s just fine if you can hide me just every once in a while. I can’t ask anyone to f-fight my general, it’s too dangerous… given what he’s done to me and I’m on his team.” Hinting at discourse that would solidify a reason to purify and run away. Something he hoped would be spread if they did talk to other knights on his behalf.
“I wish I c-could do s-something. Anything for the help you’ve given me.” Turning to face them again, he offered that hopeful look, one he recognized from his own team and from his partner. One that showed the need and want to help.
“Thank you for this, I know my son would appreciate it if he could know.” Hinting at keeping the dangerous side of things away, trying to shield someone from what otherwise would hurt a young child. In a way it wasn’t a lie either, he kept much of the risky business he was attending to from Liam. They would jump in, or let things slip, and if anything happened to his fiancé he wasn’t sure if he could handle that either.
It always made it easier to play the part, when there were things he could pull from and write into the script in his mind. A running narrative he needed to keep track of and write with the fact it could spread between order in mind. He was banking on it anyway, this sorrowful and pitiable tale being spread so he could find more ins to wonders.

“Then I suppose tonight was a good night for you - a lucky night.” He wasn’t sure how he felt about bringing someone here, not entirely anyway, he knew they needed help and he understood that but this was still his place - his safety. Novella supposed however that sometimes he had to accept that other people were in the same, or at least a similar, boat and needed a safe place as well…and he could share perhaps. At least he could share this once…just this once.
The idea of hiding them in the future….he’d agree but hope they didn’t find him again, hope he didn’t need to bring them up here again. As much as he understood he also didn’t want to share - this was his. This was a place his family couldn’t touch nor could anyone else. It was a tug of war for Novella as he turned his pale eyes onto the other. “You don’t need to do anything for me.” Having held up his hand as he spoke, wanting to make sure the other was silent before he spoke.
“If you need help beyond a sanctuary, like now, I would suggest you seek out other knights - those with more experience than myself. They can offer more and better help. I can give a few names but that’s all I can provide.” He had not taken down information, didn’t care to, and was not about to keep in touch with other knights. It was too much of an ask for him.
“If you’d like, perhaps we should head back. The dust seems to be doing you no favors and might end you before your general can.”

“It was, very much s-so.” With their hand raised, he did quiet and listened even if he didn’t like the implication of being told to be silent by a teen. It wasn’t his playing field here though so he was patient and nodded.
“If that’s a-alright? I can write them down if you’re okay with that?” Moving slowly, he pulled a pen and notebook from his breast pocket, this one was fresh without anything on it or in it, just in case.
Wiping some of the dust from his face with his sleeve, he was glad to be away from the dust, even if the rest of the visit hadn’t been terribly enlightening. It gave him a bit to go on, and this squire was new enough that he could mark them as less of a threat for now. Depending on the names provided he would be able to cross-reference them against the database and go from there.
“Thank you. I need to get home and make sure I get food prepped for tomorrow’s lunch.” Another truth, though, it would be for himself and Liam instead of the fictitious son he was mentioning.

Looking over the little pad of paper, and pen, he took a moment to go over the names in his head. “I know of a Halle, an Earth knight…female. I can’t remember her name, she has an incense weapon.” Though he wasn’t sure he’d even consider that to be a weapon, it seemed useful for after a fight but useless for a fight. “And some knight in pastel colors, also female. Her, I can’t remember anything about.” Perhaps it was terrible of him to remember so little but it also showed how disconnected he was from the lot of them - from his own kind. He didn’t want to be a part of them, to be lumped together with anyone. It wasn’t his thing.
“Alright, let’s get back then.” And he was already approaching the other. “I should get some things done tonight as well.” The last dregs of homework assignments which he had to do, he had left a bit for himself to finish, so he’d get that done and crash in bed then.
Grasping the other's arm he let himself focus on home, on Destiny City, as he let his eyes fall to half mast, at least he knew how to do this. When they arrived back in the city, the somewhat clean air brushing his skin, he pulled away from the other and let them go. “We’re here.”
