Considering this whole deal had started over a promised feather, Saewulf considered it a huge win to instead get to RIDE Whisperwing! He fought to remain still, but still bounced in place a bit as Fiadah patiently clipped him safely onto the saddle. They may only be riding a few feet in the air, but to Saewulf he was soaring HIGH in the sky! "Huh?" He blinked and peered back at the lady, only to remember in a rush that he'd promised her directions to the smithy.
He was too happy to be embarrassed, so instead he pointed. He ran enough errands for the workers there that he knew exactly where it was. "We're gonna fly there?!" He asked, loudly, as Whisperwing indeed began to fly.

Fiadah couldn't help it as a laugh slipped out. What an absolute darling, this boy was! He seemed just as enamored with the chiavi as she was! "At least most of the way. We're not doing this just to go in the opposite direction and walk even further." She reached down at patted at Whisperwing's side. "She's tired, but she's still got some pep in her. Enough to get to where we're goin'. After the smithy, I'll take her to the stables for a meal and a nap."
Whisperwing panted softly, but otherwise made no noise as she flew. She could hear the clank of metals faintly on the wind with her superior hearing, and was confident in the direction.

Yes, well. Whisperwing deserved a nap and a good dinner. Saewulf nodded reverently, but his eyes were huge as they flew. A few locals who recognized him smiled in amusement at his antics, politely waving back to his emphatic waving when he recognized them. Before long, they made it to what was clearly the place Fiadah was looking for - though seeing it Saewulf was a bit sad... it meant that they were at the end of their flight.

The grin was plastered to Fiadah's face as they flew. She could tell that Whisperwing was enjoying the fresh energy of the new rider. It reminded her of her first experiences with flying. She had immediately wanted the chiavi to fly as high and as fast as possible! She had little doubt that this boy would love the same.
Of course, that wouldn't happen today. "Alrighty! Looks like we're here." She directed Whisperwing to land, and they touched down gracefully. Ugh, these safety straps took so long to take apart... Eventually, the boy was free and she helped him down. "Thanks for the help, Saewulf." She reached up to ruffle through the chiavi's feathers until she found one that was loose and pulled it free. "And, as promised. Take care of it, yeah?"

Saewulf wriggled restlessly as the adult undid the safety straps, pleased that she didn't see him as little enough to try and pick him up. She offered an arm though, which he gratefully took to scrabble carefully off Whisperwings back.
He turned back to the gorgeous bird and bowed primly, trying to be polite - only to stare as a beautiful feather was presented to him.
He'd thought that the flight was INSTEAD of the feather- but instead he got both? "Thank you too! It's gonna be my treasure!" He admired the feather once the girl disappeared into the smithy, excited to share his adventure with his sister and parents when he got home.
