It seemed as if Luyten had been listening to her. That was a good start. He had questions of his own, which was even better. Illyria made a move to stand on her four paws before she lifted her left front one to inspect the pad underneath. It was almost as if she were using the time to construct her own reply instead of just rushing into something that would have been too much info to possibly understand at the moment.
"Your magic, or the ability to harness it, lies within you. I believe somewhere deep inside is a phrase that you will instinctively know to use when the time comes. Given that we're alone, and not in any relative danger, I don't believe the time is now."
Her raised paw indicated the maze around them before she gave the wall nearest to her a bit of a death glare stare. Focus Illyria, she chided herself. Worry about the maze later, lay down the salient info now. Her paw came down before she thought about a response to Luyten's query about chaos. Why did they do what they did?
"I think, at least in the Negaverse's case, that they feel like senshi and knights don't belong here. Each faction of Order originally had places in space, homeworlds for senshi, Wonders for knights, that they originally came from. But that was in the past. Now everyone seems to awaken on Earth. Those in the Negaverse feel that the forces of Order are the intruders of the planet and just seek to stamp us out in order to take stewardship of Earth for themselves."
Illyria moved around, unable to really sit still at this point before she continued, "There are other forces of chaos in play, but they aren't as bad as the Negaverse. Dark Mirror Senshi: I'm not sure of their end goal, but they too need to gather energy from the general population. They would feel almost as unpleasant as members of the Negaverse. They might be less inclined to attack but there's always the chance."
"Practicing with your magic will probably be the best way to harness it. Understand how it feels to call it forward."
Moving around to sit at the point where Luyten's phone had fallen onto the ground did Illyria sigh, "this phone will help you make connections with other senshi. It has various apps that can emit distress signals, take you to your homeworld, and even transport you to the Moon during certain periods. There's an information primer located in an app and also a general all out SOS if you need help. It'll only work when you are Luyten. You can automatically store another senshi's information in the phone simply by taking their picture. I have a similar item so even my information can be stored as well."
This was so much information for Luyten - Illyria wanted to parse it out in smaller blocks, but it almost seemed as if she were making up for past mistakes. It was better to get all the necessary details out now while she had Luyten's full attention.

Luyten was paying close attention to what Illyria was saying. This was very important information, and he had to capture it mentally to understand not only what was going on, but what he was capable of as the Senshi of Paradox. "Okay, I think I get what you're saying -- I need to practice my... skills, right?" He couldn't quite bring himself to call it magic yet. "So I know how to summon them and use them in case of emergency." That made perfect sense to him. Practice, after all, made perfect. And apparently the phrase to invoke this magic stuff would come to him when he needed it. Annoying, but understandable. However, one thing the cat said stood out in his mind. "So this Negaverse... they think we're intruders? Just because our... souls, I guess, spirits or starseeds or whatever -- come from another world? But that's crazy," he said, shaking his head. "I was born here, on Earth, and I'd be willing to bet that everyone else on the side of Order was too. That just doesn't make any sense to me." He had a mission now: to convince at least one Negaverse person that he was just as human, just as much of an Earthling as they were. He wondered, though, if they would even listen.... Bending over, Luyten picked up the phone and examined it. It was as garishly colored as the henshin pen and his outfit were, neon green and purple in a tessellated fox pattern like something out of an Escher painting; the phone background looked like a fractal of some kind. There were apps already installed as well, some of which he could discern the use of just by looking at them. "This is a useful little thing. Except I don't have any pockets to put it in...." tefla sorry this took so long! heart

Illyria gave Luyten the smallest quizzical look that she could muster up before realizing, almost instantly after the words registered, that he was correct. To add to the strangeness of that logic, would the Negaverse still view those corrupt senshi amongst their ranks the same way, even if they were corrupted? The Mauvian sighed. It was a bit too much to focus on so Illyria instead gave answers to what she could. Her whiskers twitched as Luyten's other comments regarding his new status came back to the forefront of her mind.
"Practice does make perfect in this case. The more you are able to harness your magic, the more effective you will be in knowing how you can perform in scenarios of combat. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses can, more often than not, save your skin ... figuratively speaking. I've seen things go sideways because people didn't take in all factors before engaging the enemy."
There was a tinge of sadness in her voice before she shook it off. Watching Luyten as he picked up the phone in order to study it she stopped the guilt that still tried to creep up on her at the most inconvenient times. Instead it seemed like there was another trick she could introduce Luyten too.
"I think the phone will only materialize when you are in need of using it. Every other time when you power up in the future the phone will be magically hidden away until you have need of it. Think of it residing in a magical pocket that no one but you can access," here Illyria paused, "that is good for more than your senshi phone. All you have to do is think about having your hands free and generally whatever item your holding onto will disappear into what we call "a subspace pocket". It's not very large but it is handy. Food can be stored, but will still spoil...but it's a handy little thing that everyone has. If you wanted to, you could break off a piece of the hedge and experiment but I think you've gotten a grasp of the basics so far."
She turned to stare at the wall of hedges behind her before pacing a few steps in one direction and then the other.

Subspace? Normally Luyten would have said there was no such thing... but this had been a day of his disbelief in things unprovable by science or empiric evidence getting completely blasted out of the water. "Hmm." Experimenting, he made a move to "tuck" the phone into his subspace "pocket", all the while thinking of storing it there. The phone dutifully disappeared. Then he concentrated on retrieving it -- and the phone reappeared just as easily. He gave a little snorted chuckle. That was handy. "Yeah, I think I have the basics down so far. I'll practice, too, so I'm ready in case anything happens." Luyten thought a moment, trying to remember how to power down. Was it really as simple as just thinking yourself a civilian again? It was. Andy looked at the Mauvian, who seemed to be pacing anxiously. "Are you ready to go, Illyria? I feel you, this hedge is creepy. Let's get out of here." He started walking in the direction he'd been initially heading. "Oh, is there some way I can contact you if I have any more questions?" Then he laughed and stopped again. "Also, you wouldn't happen to know the way out, would you?" tefla I think we can close in a tag or two!

Illyria glanced over her shoulder at Luyten as he powered down. Her paws halted their motion and she studied the youth before she nodded, "if you were to power back up for a moment and bring your phone out we could get contact details sorted out. If you don't wish to do that at this moment that is okay too. Basically when you are powered up and you want to get contact information its as simple as taking out your senshi phone and using the camera feature to take a picture. All the info about the subject of the photo would be stored in your phone if they are a fellow white moon senshi ... or a knight."
Turning her head to stare back at the hedge that she had jumped down from before Illyria grimaced at Andy's last question, "I don't think I exactly know of a way out of here. I sort of took a route that was not typical when I climbed over the hedge and sort of crashed into you. I'm pretty sure though that if we use the right-hand rule on these hedges that we'd find our way out eventually. We'd either hit the exit or return to the entrance."

Andy, struck dumb for once, blinked stupidly. "Oh! That's a good idea. I might need to get in touch with you if I have any questions." Grasping his henshin pen, he muttered the transformation phrase (happy that he didn't have to say it loudly for it to work) and powered up, then summoned his Senshi phone from subspace. "Say cheese! Or um tuna!" Luyten aimed the phone at Illyria and snapped a pic; instantly the cat turned up in the Contacts app. "That's amazing. That's really convenient. So just White Moon Senshi or… Knights? There are Knights too? Oh well, I guess I'll run into one of those soon enough…." He listened to Illyria's suggestion for finding a way out and nodded with a grin. "Of course, the right-hand rule! This can't be that complex a maze – using that rule should get us out of here in no time. I should have remembered that," he added sheepishly. "I'm the math genius, after all." Powering down again, Andy reached out with his right hand to brush his fingertips along the foliage of the hedge and began to walk, following the right-hand rule out of the maze. He was impressed with Illyria's logical mind; to be honest, it was the last thing he expected from a cat, nevermind a magical space cat. But then, he never expected to find out he was a magical boy either. Interesting day. tefla and FIN! Thank you so much for the rp! heart
