"What say you to a dip in the ocean, I think that after the warm bath it might be good to have a reset in the cool water. Apparently it is good for the immune system and I think it would feel divine on the muscles."
He stretched in the hot water and then sank up to his nose. Burbling at his mate. He felt like a child, or at least a teenager. "I see why our kids are so spunky now. Why do adults chose to be adults, when do we forget the fun of life? The enjoyment why does it sink in the mud like a stone?" He growled and tackled Ikaika, shoving him underwater. He felt all of this energy rising that he hadn't felt since forever. He crowed his victory as his mate came up spluttering. Usually Ikaika wore the pants, but not today.
Today he was feeling his oats as they said. He felt free. "I hope that everyone gets to enjoy life like this and more often!" The world could become a grim place if you let it. That was why vacays were so very important.

"I suppose," he said swiping his now soaking hair out of his face. "That responsibility tends to eclipse fun, you can't say we were not busy for the last 15 years can you?"
"A dip in the ocean does sound good, spunky." He teased, poking Kaiko with a toe. He was pleased to see so much life in his mates eyes. It was important to do things that bring you joy and often, all the better. They both loved the ocean and its salty spray. Kaiko even more so being more salt water based than brackish like he. Ikaika handled fresh water better as a consequence of his origins.
"Alright feisty, lets go." He dragged himself out of the water, not keen on getting dunked again quite yet, they could save the roughhousing for when they were at sea with a lot more space to romp.
They showered and dried and then headed for the beach in suitable attire. The sand felt good on his bare feet and he took a deep refreshing breath. Home.
Matori was and always would be where they belonged despite their disparate origin stories. Kaiko was where he belonged. Matori was where he belonged. All the better that their home came with such a cozy in and such gourmet food.
"I'm hungry again."

They entered the water and it was pure bliss. Water was life, water was everything. Kaiko immediately dove after racing in as far as his thighs. "YASSSS." He screeched. It was cold as they were still a bit warm from the shower and hotspring. "Yeah, I can't wait for dinner either, I will out eat you I bet!" They giggled and played about in the comparatively cool water. Then when he was content he lay on his back and floated. Eyes closed he just soaked up the Matori atmosphere.
"So..the book I'm reading is a romance...do you want to hear about it?" He waggled his eyebrows at Ikaika. Deep breaths of absolute bliss.
He paddled on his back, nearly bumping into a startled snaptrotter that whipped its tail and dove away from the long kahikinian male. "Coward." Kaiko hissed playfully at the large marine type croc.
"Large brats arn't they?" He snorted but paddled back toward his mate just in case. Snaptrotter were dangerous but mostly wanted nothing to do with people unless they were really hungry. Fortunately this one had little interest in them and was after fish.
"Hey did we bring a spear gun?"

"I don't think I packed one no, but I think the Inn offers rentals?" Kaiko probably would have noticed it on his back if he had brought it they were not exactly short.
"Let's go grab some, I take it you fancy some fishing? Maybe we could give some back to the Inn as a thank you for their exceptional hospitality, I bet they would like that, its a bit of a walk to the next major fishing port after all." Besides they both loved spear fishing, despite the inherent dangers from snaptrotters or sharks.
They procured the spearfishing equipment and headed back to sea. This was good fun too! And the perfect balance to all the deep relaxation they had been doing lately. He felt good in body mind and spirit and thus he was willing to stay and continue for quite a few days which was as the hotel suggested for a proper relaxation. A lot could be done in one day but three or seven were much better and should have a more lasting effect. Besides it was a hoot. And Kaiko was really enjoying himself as well. Eventually they would have to check in with the kids though he had told them where they would be if they needed help and so far no call for aid had come.

They had quite the spearfishing adventure and came back with an octopus, three decent sized reef fish, an eel and a lobster. The three large fish they gave to the Inn and made their own sushi with the octopus, eel and lobster using the little fire in their room to cook the rice, provided by the Inn in response to the fish and their special request. They also promised to return more often. Thus the partnership began and they were assured of more good times to come.
The Inn would not be the only place they would go of course, the bug was in them now and they must adventure further however, it would always be their closest and go to getaway for when the days became dreary, dull and monotonous. They stayed for a long time, he quite stopped counting the days. But on their return home their children commented on their healthy vibrant coloration and the spirit and liveliness that had returned to their demeanors. He was happy that it was so noticable. They would show the kids the place one day he was sure.
