Oh! What a useful... if somewhat offputting ability. Caolan dismissed the feeling of unease that antennae sent through him, and reminded himself how so many people reacted to his darkened sclera, and the glow of his eyes that was only just starting to fade. He felt a surge of guilt for his unfair feeling, and smiled at Kalua, as if she could read his mind and that smile might apologize a bit for his thoughts.

He listened to her intently, and obediently followed her pointed finger towards the grouping of stones - politely, but silently, disagreeing. It didn't really look much like a fish, but he supposed he'd go along with it anyway. "Oh - trust me, we Yaeli are good at watching our feet!" Caolan laughed, studiously ignoring the fact he'd once fallen into a crevice and nearly drowned - not that SHE knew that!

Oh, were they? Then she would have to double down on her plan, then. Really go out of her way to make sure everything went smoothly.

"See? What'd I tell you? It's gorgeous over here. Best views in the whole city." And in truth, she wasn't wrong. The views of the city from here were spectacular, if one could ignore just how little the city would see of them. "I've been told it's something you'll never forget."

It... really was. Caolan's fingers itched to pull out his sketchbook and draw, but even with the glow of her lure it wouldn't be enough to see the pages. Instead, he gazed out and tried to burn it into his memory. "I don't know how to thank you." He said, softly. "It's beautiful out here."

Kalua stepped up closer to Caolan with her eyes shifting away from the water toward the Yaeli. Only when she was sure he was properly entranced did she reach for a little dagger tucked away in her skirt. If she'd had a proper heart she might have cared about what she was about to do, but Kalua didn't see him for the pure heart he was.

She saw a mark; an impossibly easy target and a boon for the night.

"Don't worry about thanking me," She spoke just as soft, and a bit of faux warmth slipped in. As soon as she was close enough to feel confident, Kalua gave the yaeli a little shove, but not enough to push him in; at least, not while she had hold of the strap on his bag. "Worry about the rocks." In one swift move Kalua cut through the strap and stepped back, letting gravity take over.

(10/10)

How ki-- huh? Caolan stumbled, stomach twisting with vertigo as he tipped over the edge. But she'd caught him, he thought - body briefly halted by the strap that was slung from hip to opposite shoulder. He let out a breathless, nervous giggle and twisted his head to grin at her, thinking they'd share a laugh over how clumsy he was, or how her supposed friendly shove had nearly knocked him over!

But in the dark, the glow of her lure lit her face, exaggerating the shadows on the facets of her face, and that light briefly caught on the metal of her dagger - just long enough for him to recognize what he was seeing.

For a horrifying moment, he thought she'd plunge that knife into his heart. When she instead cut the strap, he had a brief, foolish moment of relief - before he fell. Any sound was swallowed up in sheer shock, and as soon as he'd sucked in a breath to scream he was plunged into cold water - mercifully missing any rocks, by sheer luck. By the time he desperately surfaced, soaked and coughing out a lungful of seawater, the girl was gone - and his satchel, and everything he owned along with her.
