She was like a bright reef fish in a crowd of dark eels, he being a slightly different colored eel. He loved the dark blue skin he had inherited from his father Kaiko. He wasn't vain but he knew he was handsome as most males did. But she shinned like a luminescent pearl. He wondered if she had been one of the folks affected by the pollen that the maturing Aishan trees had spread everywhere. His people hadn't been changed but many earthlings had been altered color wise in some way. He had not known her before the trees so it was a distinct possibility.
"Ahh that explains how good you are, extra practice." He smiled at her. He loved dance and would gladly do this all day until they fell over exhausted. "Maybe she will visit someday, you could send a letter and see. Maybe she needs a vacation from Belrea and is looking for just such an excuse."
The circle around them widened as they neared the crescendo of the song and only then did he notice how much space they had..everyone else was on the sidelines. His eyes widened. This certainly had never happened to him while dancing before. He pretended not to notice, to break form now because he was momentarily distracted would be shameful considering the honor the other dancers had given them. He blushed deeply but one probably couldn't tell with his skin tone.
