As they had walked, Adam was taking notes of every piece. He took notes of the ways that Waru seemed to zone in on the way he tapped his nails against the china. He took notes of the fact that Waru did not miss the burn… for now, with an added, “Suppose it's not far out of reach for you,” note of amusement, notes of the fact that Waru seemed to be hardly holding back notes of exasperation and endless surprise –
Keep those ones coming.
“Oh, I'm serious, Waru. Wouldn't have offered it if I wasn't.” That wasn't the total truth. To be fair though, it wasn't also a total lie either. He was invited. He was invited to sit wherever he liked. Waru could take a seat. Adam would find a movie. They could watch it.
None of that was a lie.
“But thank you for the compliments. You are absolutely free to keep those coming.” That was a tease.
Mostly.
The exasperation and tension that this was causing, though, was an entirely different measure, and Adam was listening for it as he thumbed through the movies. That petulant sigh was music to his ears. “Feel free to admire whatever you'd like while you enjoy your sit. I echoed other theatrical architecture when making this room.”
Adam debated if he wanted to load up something older into one of his machines and make this all take even longer… actually. Perhaps that was perfect. A smirk played on his lips as he located an older foreign movie–a horror, a genre preference of his own, and perhaps one that wasn't one of Waru’s–and started the work of winding the film itself correctly.
“You said you like foreign films, right? You might like this one.” Adam let his tongue glide over his lower lip. “Whispering Corridors. It's a Korean movie from the 90s. Very classic horror in that genre.”
And getting it loaded in would take just a bit longer.

“Yeeaaahhh……” tentative, uncertain, as was the creak of chair beneath him where he shifted to watch Adam, hawklike and intense. His eyes widening as the man went on talking about what they’d watch instead! ********, horror!? The super scary foreign kind?! There was something about horror movies in general — about how superstitious he was, about how he hardly minded when it was real - that s**t didn’t phase him at all — but when people made things?!
And especially the fake kind of scary ones; like a mockery, like a curse, like asking for trouble! He wasn’t sure if it freaked him out, if he loathed it, if—
Yeah, no, nope, ******** that! He was not getting ring-girled in Adams house! That? That was not in the cards! It wasn’t even Halloween! What was wrong with this man?!
‘He’s Tryna get my a** haunted like I haven’t been there n done that— ******** no!’
“That—uh—doesn’t quite sound like k’drama as it does k’dramatic?” Trying to play it off like nothing, like a bad joke, to not growl over the idea of — admiring architecture — like he was someone who got that sort of thing? And, okay, now he was sure Adam was trying to put him to sleep just so he could kill him in it!! “N’while I love the offer? There’s only really the one thing in this room worth appreciating…welll…two? Technically.”
A single unsubtle light went on in Warus head, a whole asap thought about how he could salvage both his soul and his sanity!
*Seduction*
That? That was the answer! Had to be — if he was gonna get himself out of the room that felt more like a sleep paralysis demon trap than something used for entertainment by the second!
“N’if what you wanna hear so badly is some scream queens?” He set the cup down carefully, aimed for sounding all sorts of come-hither n oblige-me as he slowly stood once more. Hell bent on fixing the trap he’d walked into all lamb like and slaughtere-able.
He didn’t know what he’d expected, but it wasn’t this!! This b*****d — always full of surprises — the worst kind!

That uncertainty was the cream on the cake, truly. Waru wasn't a horror guy. Perhaps he'd back out of this situation even faster, which was precisely what he wanted to happen. Nevertheless, it didn't slow his work. At least, not any further, as he checked to make sure he wasn't accidentally damaging the film reel while he worked with it. “Mm, K-Dramatic may be a way of putting it.”
A good way of putting it if it was going to make Waru squirm enough, anyway.
But Waru’s tone was shifting even further, and Adam could appreciate the continued compliments it came with, as masked as they were. Two, technically.
Yes, he knew who they both were.
He'd keep winding the reel.
Adam heard the cup set down, lifting his eyes from what he was looking at at that point. Waru was moving. His tone was shifting further, into something much more sultry.
… Bingo.
“I could change the movie to the television series Scream Queens, if you really want me to. Will take a few minutes to unwind the reel back up safely, though.” And yet, Adam wasn't quite done ******** with him just yet. Screaming was what he wanted, for sure. Adam wouldn't deny that.
He, notably, didn't deny that at any point.
“Won't be too hard to set that up in comparison. It's probably on one of the streaming services.”

The ******** kind of person had actual film reels?!? Adam did, of course, and r made a sick kind of sense to him, that if a person had the money and the time to get the fancy setup then of course they’d also put in the extra effort of making it ******** authentic!!
Hadn’t Adam said as much about his architecture? About the room in general? How theatrical it all was — a whole goddamn show — and he didn’t think the tea was working the way it should’ve, felt his pulse spike, his heart rate climb, and all over Adam suggesting taking yet more time to put on something wholly different!!
‘I do like Scream Queens though, damnit….’ he shook his head, trying not to get sidetracked, aiming for focus!
*On Adam.*
He froze when the man twitched his gaze in his direction, played subtle, coy, probably failed uphill. The way he moved again once Adam focused back on his reel task…
“S’true yeah? Wouldn’t be too hard — and I actually do like that show. Something about horror mixed with comedy? About — like — game shows —“ tucking the annoyed edge in his tone between his teeth and biting down on it. Aiming for softer words and softer steps as he crept on Adam—-
“Could be even easier though? If you didn’t have to set up anything at all — could make our own show out of it — the oldest school there ever was or ever will be — some private entertainment? The kind t’have between just two people.” he pressed as he hissed a low breath, wincing at himself for trying to wrangle out of this new form of torture and aiming for a far better goal.
The kind he wouldn’t fall asleep to — where he wouldn’t have to talk — where —-
“C’mon, Adam — please?” he wasn’t sure if he could do soft just then, had no pliant n’ placating pleas at the ready, but hungry, tired, riled? He had that. Sitting and waiting, pacing a red velvet lined cage in a theater room. He had that in spades, he was willing to use it too.

Waru liked that show, did he? That was fine. Adam could roll with that. He kept rolling back the reel, preparing it to put back in its case to keep it safe. He would watch it again eventually, legitimately, intentionally, when he wasn't pulling at Waru’s patience. He could hear Waru moving, but he pretended to not be paying it mind, working to put away the reel even as Waru moved up on him.
“I'll get that one pulled up, then,” started Adam, easily, as he moved to switch to a more digital format. He glanced over his shoulder as Waru actually approached, but kept his attention primarily on the screen. “To be fair,” started Adam, easily, “the television show would be an entertainment between two tonight.”
He knew what Waru was putting down.
Just between two people. No other people on the screen. They wouldn't even need what was down that other hallway. They wouldn't even need what was in the other rooms, really.
Just.
Them.
That please ticked something different, and it snapped something different in Adam's expression, Adam's behaviour, Adam's stance. His brow quirked as his lip upturned just slightly.
Perfect.
“Waru, losing your patience with sitting and waiting for the entertainment?”

“Not losing it…no…” rough swallow over a harsh inhale, the way he pulled himself up short and eyed the subtle shift in Adam. The way *this* man looked more like *Borax* than he had even a second ago. It was ******** palpable, the body language, the sharp side eye he received from a person who seemed both so aware of his presence and so fixed on fiddling with other s**t. So he pressed on with it, tried his luck further, crept closer still.
“Lack’n any t’start? Like — legit — hang’n onto what I dredged up for this; all of it by a slick, split hair n’my fingernails.” Licking his suddenly dry lips as he tried for hail back on his own desperate need to derail being treated with any sort of calm, thoughtful, decency. He hadn’t come here for this — he didn’t need that — he didn’t want it!!! “I spent it all earlier tonight. S’gone — emptied out — please?” Not from Adam, not like this. No. What he did want? That base thrill and physical high and the kind of debauched distraction that would pull him *out* of his own head, not trap him in it!
That — that was what he wanted from this man — what he whined for — what he’d hoped for on the sixth run red light. The way he figured he could torture his own damn self later on in the same fashion…
N’less? N’less this was what Adam wanted — for him to sit and stew in it and mull it all over until it was masticated into soupy mush devoid of all flavor and thought.
Which he refused to sit for in equal measure!
“I will—“ he blew out a breath like a bull, a bellows, swallowed some irksome sound and tried again. “I will ******** find it within myself to be present for — anything — with you. That includes watching — <********> — A movie, a show? If that’s what you really want? But it’ll be from my knees, eyes off the screen, distracting myself the way I want to.” Huffed with the smallest flare of determination, a spark of hope. He spoke with his hands as often as his eyes, vividly, loudly. Begging to make his intent clear now that his mouth had already run its course.
“You’ll ********’ love it. Promise. It’ll be a ******** delight—“ eager as he edged that space to a close, tried to throw his shadow, to use his size like an advantage — like an offering — “N’We’ll sleep like the dead when we’re done…make it a good night…” He heaped those promises high and hung them all up in the bow of his tight grin.
“The kind it should’ve been for either of us from the start, yeah?” A better one instead of the one he wanted to forget but couldn’t bring himself to, not with his own hands in his own head, he didn’t own a tool honed enough, a mind sharp enough. Of all the things he could ever do on his own? This!? Where he shut himself up! It’d never been one of them…
But that was what Adam was for.

This was absolutely fascinating and exactly what he had been hoping for.
Adam leaned back on one of the tables–not the one with the traditional film camera, of course–crossing his arms and eyeing Waru up and down as he spoke. His mouth did the talking, as it often did, joined by his hands as he had gotten worked up, speaking in a code he didn't have to be explicit about but Adam understood well enough. And there was something appealing about the idle idea of just watching something while Waru did something else.
But that wasn't quite what he was trying to trigger, was it?
Waru throwing his shadow over him may have temporarily been effective due to Adam leaning back, but there was something to the amusement in his expression. Perhaps it grew more severe as he reached out, putting a finger under Waru’s chin once more. “Oh, it should have.”
Adam's trap had been successfully tripped.
Waru said in the adrenaline-pump of a car ride that Adam could surprise him by not doing anything they had discussed. Perhaps Adam had wanted to make a point. Perhaps getting Waru practically begging for something different was fun. Perhaps seeing Waru this tense was part of the point.
He dropped his hand to Waru's arm, instead. “Today has been full of surprises,” purred Adam, his chuckle much warmer in a different way than it had been even a few minutes prior, “though let's keep a more casual night of Scream Queens in mind, shall we?
“But for now,” his entire demeanour had swapped in moments, “let's make tonight that <******** delight, mm?”
Adam yanked Waru just that tad bit closer.
“Shall we swap locales?”

The snarl he flashed here, in the depths of Adams home, was very different from the one he’d briefly worn at the Club. The warning as different as the intent behind it; though he still wished to sink his teeth into the man’s slender finger — a touch that dared — the urge to do so now was empty of the desire to maim a handsy stranger.
No— there was something darker behind it, sensual, as if he would’ve gentled himself enough to nibble or suck instead of drawing blood on contact. Though? A part of him didn’t mind that idea either. He thrilled for it, a red bright enough to match Adam’s eyes, or the vintage opera theater styled drapery of the place.
If either option was on the table? So long as whatever he chose mant they wouldn’t stay *here* any longer?
Then he was game for it.
And of course Adam would mention surprises—-
“You’re telling me….” A sallow huff, he was worn out on surprises of that nature for the night. Felt he’d botched them all enough already. Unless Adam meant of a different kind? He was all ears for that, willing, open, listening to the meaning twist into something he desired enough that he cracked a less desperate grin, laughed a little.
“Sure—one’ah these nights? A real movie, j’s the two’ve us. Some normal a**, friend s**t.” As if Adam could read him easily, and it took nothing to surrender here, to let himself be pulled while looking for all the world like he couldn’t be. Feeling warm and eager as Adam, ******** finally, said the words he’d been hoping to hear since the door to Adams car clicked shut!
“But not tonight—-“ he nodded; said yes with his eyes rather than his voice, with his body rather than his overfilled mind, bent with Adams pull and breathed what could’ve been a sigh of relief as much as it was one of appreciation.
Because it was about damn time!

“Some normal a** friend s**t,” agreed Adam, with a note of amusement in both his voice and his eyes. To be honest, he could see it. He wouldn't necessarily mind spending an evening that ended up on friendlier note with Waru. He wouldn't mind it, especially if it kept leading to the concept of Waru spending the evening on his knees.
Some normal a** friends with benefits s**t, in the end.
But not tonight.
Waru bent with Adam's pull, and it made it easy for him to murmur, “After me,” as he led the other elsewhere.
