“He can!” Julian insisted, with only the utmost confidence in Soleiyu. He wasn’t very fast when it came to texting but he could manage a short message to Talia. “Sometimes he tells me to go pick up some old electronics from the thrift store and he repurposes them, but that’s as much as I’ve ever had to do to help. Oh, and sometimes I hold a light for him but I don’t think he even needs me for that. I just like watching him.”

The text was sent, and he bounced up eagerly, still carefully cradling the little unicorn gift.

“We can start heading over now.” He kept his phone in his palm so he’d be able to tell as soon as he got a text message but Talia had always been very understanding and supportive of him having friends over.

He’d arrived in a good mood and he was in a better one now.

Things weren’t easy for Brooklyn but he really wanted to help, and if all he could do right now was offer help and support, and share invitations for Soleiyu’s tech savviness and Evan’s cooking, he was going to put his heart into it.

Maybe he’d be able to learn something from them. He’d never be as good with electronics as Soleiyu was, and he’d never cook as well as Evan, but he still wanted to make everyone proud.
