“Perhaps, I have a feeling you might be able to convince me to go since you have a better idea of how I am.”That alongside the bits and pieces he’d learned about things from them over the few visits to that sushi place as well as hearing more about the stationery place he’d visited in that same area. It was still something he hadn’t done though, he had a passport sitting in his desk drawer but it had never been used. It was a requirement if he needed to fly for an emergency but nothing had ever come up that had needed him to grab it.
“That’s rather good foresight, considering they probably didn’t know the extent of what might happen with the process. I’ve read that a range of things can occur but it seems its a case-by-case process.” Which was similar to any sort of medical procedure but it felt odd knowing that magic was just as effected by the individual.
“Sounds similar too… the uncanny valley effect I would assume? Where things are just close enough but slightly off when it comes to looking at humans maybe? Though it may also tie more into something in psychology and that is an area of medicine I have very little experience in, for good reason.” It got messy and his blunt way of handling things wouldn’t work out in that field. It probably wouldn’t work out in a relationship with most people which made him appreciate the other a bit more. He just didn’t sugar coat things, honestly it annoyed him when he saw people doing it.
Shifting with the box in front of him, he looked over the papers and forms that had come out. “It might be a good idea to sort boxes by type of thing inside in the future, once we go through it all. I don’t mind helping, especially if you have trouble with looking at some things.” That he could handle at least, could understand. In a way he could sort of attribute it as looking at the photos of passed loved ones or more likely in this case, looking at a stranger’s family life in a bit too close of a way. Either way it would be hard because they had no family now which he felt was worth being upset over. Even if he was how he was, his family was top priority and always had been even as he was in school. Maybe… he might see how they handled his family in the future, it might do them well even if it wouldn’t give back what they lost.

“It is, as you said, a case by case when it comes to memories and what is lost…and how much. I lost all my civilian memories. All I get are feelings…senses, I might remember a smell that I’ve never smelled. Or I might know what something feels like, without having touched it before.” It also meant unreasonable emotions over certain things as well, like the feeling his parents were strict and they didn’t get along. He knew it but he didn’t know why but he felt it and knew it was real. But he knew he loved them, maybe more than he had as Hisoka. It was the loss of them, and so much, that his dislike for order grew. It was understandable but something he thought most wouldn’t understand. How many people could claim to be in his position after all?
“I’m glad Hisoka knew we’d lose memories, that Wolframite told him, and he prepared things for me so I could build back and not fail.” If he’d failed, if he wasn’t able to thrive, he might have turned on the Negaverse as well…though he had Wolframite and they wouldn’t let him fail. But had he fallen through the cracks, somehow, and had nothing of his own….it would have all been for nothing.
“I think that makes some sense…uncanny valley, I’d have to read a bit on it, but it does sound fitting really. It’s off putting though…that feeling of familiarity to something but not understanding, or grasping, the reason for it. No memories but feelings. It’s like deja vu but on steroids. Mind things though I can’t always wrap my head around…I’d rather straightforward things…so reading up on such things might not help a whole lot.” Watching as Lorcan started sifting through things he nodded his head.
“That would be a good thing, I think I’ll do that once we get through everything first, It’ll help in finding things I might need in the future.” In the box were photos, some with writing on the back, giving ages and names, in English, but also his high school yearbook was in there along with, deep down at the bottom, pictures from Japan…a very young him and a baby picture or two and some as a toddler. There were school pictures there as well. They were old, had seen better days, but they had gone missing from his parents' collection of pictures - and they had a lot…not that he knew that. In the box Kioshii had were school records, deep down in the box, but this was a box he’d not really gone through before.

“I see, well that is an interesting way to put how you may have some sort of ties to things even if you don’t remember it.” Taking care with the papers that looked more like records, he set them aside as he watched photos coming out. It was a bit odd seeing the photos for him too, they didn’t look like the person sitting next to him, not exactly at least. It made sense based on what he had read but seeing it was another matter.
Reaching the bottom of the box he saw various admission pamphlets for the different universities in the city. Each one looked related to the art program in some way or another. “Hrm… was Hisoka applying for colleges? Or did he leave these for you to consider?” It would be a way to get some stability and nail down a better job if they didn’t know about the pay that was provided by the Negaverse.
Turning the things over in his hand, he offered it to the other before moving the now empty box aside on the bed and pulling the other over. Working through things, he did as he had mentioned and set all the paperwork and important looking documents in the first box and sorted through photos and other personal effects to leave in the other one. Sneezing behind his mask, he avoided rubbing his eyes so as to not get more cat fur on himself.
“I didn’t see how many other boxes there were but I think there is a good start at least to piece together a bit more of a medical history for you alongside what I’ve figured out so far.”

Glancing over, pressing into the others side to peek over his shoulder. “I’m not sure…I always thought we’d finished high school and gone right to work.” He hadn’t seen anything at the top of a box suggesting otherwise, and he’d been busy getting back to work to really consider what else Hisoka might have been doing. But those certainly looked like college papers, the other had been applying to art schools.
Maybe it would be something to look into, art school wouldn’t be so bad. But he really didn’t know if he had other artistic skills. He could draw, he had to be able to, but beyond that…? He wasn’t entirely sure. He was certain he could try his hand at painting but paint was not ink and blending and such would be different. But he could draw and understood color and what to do. It was a matter of the difference in how to do things.
“Two more boxes and for now I think we’re good.” Leaning back, out of the others personal space. “Need a tissue?” He did try and keep the cat hair off things but Omen was large and long haired and somehow it did get nearly everywhere, not much was safe from the cat and his hair. “The pictures I still find odd….the year book even stranger and yet things seem familiar like I know it’s all right. The whole thing, losing memories, is strange and I wonder if normal people who lose memories feel the same way.” Though he did imagine they would, until they got their memories back. He had no chance of regaining his. He’d accepted it, he had to, so he didn’t let it get to him too much or too often. There were the odd times, typically late at night, when something would get him thinking about the family he’d left behind and what they must think about it all - about him vanishing. “Let me know about things…and I can help.” Taking the college things to look through, to see what Hisoka had been working on.

“Could be something worth pursuing, but it’s up to you. It may expand your knowledge and subject base for your work? In med school we were required to have a general knowledge of most fields before specializing. Though in my case I didn’t specialize as much so that I could handle a wider variety of things for my patients.” In truth his parents had thought he might become a surgeon, something he’d considered until he realized it would be better for him and his schedule requirements to be a physician.
Shaking his head, he was as fine as he was for now with his allergies. Though he would wash his face here shortly to get some of the cat dander and fur off of it. “Alright, we can always sort through it another time once you’re feeling better. You do need to rest and it will give me time to sort through the paper work I can in the meantime.” Something to help fill a few more holes in things for the other. It was an interesting puzzle so far but at least for the most part it wasn’t an emergency more an inconvenience for the other.
Brushing his fingers against their cheek as they leaned into him he sighed. “You should lay down, you’re still fairly feverish. I can move the boxes to the floor for now.” Already going about that, he was careful not to jostle the other too much.

“It might help as well, though not required, it would give a better idea of other art styles.” Which could give him a better grasp of some styles he might try and recreate as tattoos. But also it was wouldn’t be too bad to take some art classes and get a degree. “Have you ever thought of going back to specialize?” Because he was, as he sat there, considering going to art school and seeing what he could pick up from there. He could manage to fit it in, even if it meant night classes or making sure he didn’t work a day or two every week and instead attending classes.
“I’ll stay by your side, so you can look things over.” But he did move, and shift, to lay down but he kept pressed close to the other so he could catch glimpses of what Lorcan was looking over, and he could help if need be. He was sure some of the papers would not be in English and would need his help.
Amongst the papers were, as he predicted, the papers from way back then as well as newer papers…the records they were looking for. Omen had joined them though the cat had taken to laying under a pillow at the head of the bed, fighting with the pillow in order to get himself under it, he was nearly hidden by it somehow. Kioshi’s blue eyes landed on the cat for a moment before he moved to lay his head partially in the other's lap so he could watch what he went over.

Nodding, he shifted things as they lay pressed to him. The boxes were deposited on the ground as he flipped through the papers, looking over the ones that were in English first. “I don’t really need to specialize since I handle a lot of things in my clinic but I keep up on all sorts of new things in the medical field.” It was a good place he was in for what he wanted to do and if he needed to know anything new, he could read about it or speak with colleges at a seminar to fill any gaps.
Looking over at Omen as they made a bit of a fool of themself, Lorcan did smile slightly and brushed the loose strands of Kioshi’s hair out of their face as they laid their head in his lap. “It looks like you have most of your vaccines, at least the ones that are required to attend school in the US. It looks like just a few others are missing but… hrm.” Flipping through things he had to think of time frames on when vaccines were available. “I think some of the ones you don’t have are from when they weren’t available throughout the world. Which is alright so we just need to keep up your other ones.”
Once he made it through them all, he set the papers in the box with all the other important medical and school ones he had found before sitting back up. “I think it could be good for you to go to art school but first you need to rest so you can feel better.” He would stay at least a bit longer, even if his face itched from the cat on the bed. The other really looked miserable and sick. He’d bring more soup and food for them after work tomorrow as well, just to make sure they ate because it seemed they had a habit of not eating when sick. That was something he was hoping he could change, at least slightly to help them in the long run.
