LOCATION: Outside xxx COMPANY: Alex xxx CLOTHING: Swimming dress
As luck would have it, Alex seemed to be genuinely enjoying their walk. Every so often, threads of worry still needled their way through his aura, but they had thinned. Significantly. An approving pride bloomed across her chest at the sight. It was small, but hey, Omorfes Petres wasn’t built in a day! And Ophelia had no intention of altering the emotional foundation of this tightly woven man. She only wanted to be someone he could relax around, dare she hope to say– feel safe.
Regrettably, the moment realization dawned of her inability to count, though, she also realized she was doing a pretty bang-up job of keeping Alex relaxed. Corded muscle tightened beneath her fingertips, the poisus knight harpooning worried green through his aura the moment the gasp slipped through her lips. “Come on now, Ophelia, no sudden movements!” She was even quicker to bubble up her reasoning, not a dang verbal filter in the world able to stop her.
Relief doing her the moment Alex’s bellowing laugh rattled through her. The Duchess of light was quick to melt beneath the sound of it. How seamlessly it mixed with the ringing giggle that came from her. “I'm glad you think so.” she added. This. This would be one of her favorite sounds: laughter, amusement, joy. A glimmer in her day that she would cling to.
But what goes up must come down. Which Alex’s next string of syllables did, a shock wave of heat plummeted down into her stomach. What was she thinking today?! Oh..Right.. She wasn’t! How could she have said that? Catching the heat blazing across her cheeks with her free hand, another quiet string of laughter began to trickle shyly out of her as she all but yanked them back into a steady stride.
What was it with this wild man and his ability to pull the most improper sentences from her mouth?
“ well obviously he didn’t take offense. “
Her own laughter built then, realizing she was embarrassed over a man who colored his language more than anyone she had ever met. She didn’t have to care! She liked the company of someone who was so unforgivably himself. “ Now, don’t take offense,” She explained, wiping a tear caught in her deepened crow lines with her thumb. “But Lex is too perfect to pass up after what you did for me today.” He might not understand its significance, but if she were going to gift him any Aloran name, the one that meant ‘Protector’ seemed just too fitting.
That other one though-
Ophelia’s hand finally dropped to stare directly into those hazy grey eyes blooming with shades of pink. Unable to contain the rebuttal, she offered the hand still entwined with hers a series of enduring pats while a wry grin spread across her lips.. “ As for the other one. I promise to only use on special occasions. Like when I’m falling from a tree or I have you hung from the ceiling.” The words felt too spicy coming from her tongue, sending her bottom lip retreating between her teeth.
She quickly shook herself free from any embarrassment, though, since there would likely come a day she would never actually be able to see such a scandalous sight anyway.
Catching the alarming sight of the many shortened shadows, Ophelia bristled, realizing the sun had risen further than she thought. “Come on,” she sighed, directing their steps back towards the shore where she was sure her bag still was…Right? She wasn't sure, but it felt like the right direction. “ We had better gather everything and get back. Lessons will be starting soon, and we should probably be more presentable for the day.” Could you imagine the scandal of walking into class dressed the way they were? “ What do you think about coming by my quarters sometime soon Lex? I’ll tell you all about sun catchers.”
