Kenac Don't choose Imperials. Just don't. Speechcraft is way easy in this game and you'll get one too many levels because of it, thereby reaching your cap very early on. True.
Choose Imperial, you'll be loved but you'll have no thief skills.
Choose Khajiit, you'll have great thief skills & can still be loved.

Let me help you with my own profound wisdom.
Imperials: Speechcraft, hooray, people like you. Now the monsters and outlaws will smile when they completely kick your a**.
Khajit: A large furry cat that can't talk right, and has a tendency to be a worse thief than a Wood Elf. Yeah, those are some perks. And don't forget, you can see in the dark, ohh!!
So, the obvious choice is this, choose a Bosmer, versatile in everything, including being loved AND thieving.
Or a Redguard, because they hit things, and it makes me laugh.
But most importantly, pick something because that's what YOU want, not because everyone says to, or because it's speechcraft is sexy, or because it's furry.
If it's a worthless High Elf, with no strength or speed, but it can cast an Armegeddon Spell of Death, then what's wrong with that?
*Besides it's being an Altmer.*

In The Elder Scrolls series just play as you want. It doesn't really matter. I wanted to be a little different so I switched over from Dunmer to Bosmer from Morrowind to Oblivion. My opinions on the races:
Altmer: Stuck-up a-holes the lot of them. I think they're trying to compensate for their uber weakness to magic.
Argonian: Pretty cool race. They speak funny, and they do have that whole landfill of a home. It's where they keep the bad guys.
Bosmer: Pure, fun, theives. Simple as that. Awesome people.
Bretons: Mages. Pure and simple.... "I cast fires on meh foots!!!"
Dunmer: Like the Altmer, but darker skin. And they enjoy slaving people more. Every single race. They must feel the wrath of the Valenwood forces.
Imperials/Cyrodiliians: Power-mongers who don't know when to stop.
Khajiit: Alright. They can steal, so they're OK in my book. Can play a pretty intimidating assassin.
Nords: The Nords are to humans what the Altmer are to the elves. Except the Nords can kill stuff with big shiny pokey things. 3nodding
Orsimer: Elves who had the bad luck of being turned into green-skinned goblin like people.
Redgaurds/Yokudans/Ra Gada: Gangstas.

I approved of the Bosmer definition.
But Dunmer are really the only other race I like, because their eyes are red, and because they enslave people.
The rest, opinionated, though true to others, not to a staunch Bosmer supporter like myself.

(Or me, one of the two.) It's obviously true, because I said it, which makes perfect sense, and contains no opinions. (But my own.)

Bull s**t! A Redguard could sneak up on you!
Imperials don't know how to shut up, all because they think they can talk there way out of anything. Supose it makes up for the lack of combat skills!
But still ever single on of you run in and say, "FOR THE EMPEROR!" then die in a big pile of musshy mush infront of my axe!

And smart people, such as Zakkon Deathblade, are the ones who use their immense sneak to get behind you "archers", and then sneak attack you for X6? damage, and then kick your a** with their awesome hand to hand skills, that keep them light on their feet, due to their not needing to use some of their weight to carry bulky weapons.

After playing as many FPS games as I have, I'd be looking around to make sure no idiot was trying to come from behind. Then they'd meet a face full of wood... or glass...

Prof. Meow Meow I like the 360 just for that reason. Amen to that. Me and my boyfriend play on the 360 and we've only ever had it freeze up once.

TANK_GIRL_9176 Prof. Meow Meow I like the 360 just for that reason. Amen to that. Me and my boyfriend play on the 360 and we've only ever had it freeze up once. You get the joy of actually being told this in a straight forward manner, as opposed to my just fixing it. This would be one error, made entirely too often, that makes me quite... irked. My boyfriend and I, not me and my boyfriend. First of all, the second party always proceeds oneself in a sentence, and an easy way to check for I or me, is to remove the second party, making it, "I play on the 360..." I hope this will help you in the future, have a nice day. *I hate myself for having said this, but I found it necessary.*
