Did they want to help it? At any moment the mother could come barreling out of those trees and attack which left her torn. The smarter option would have been to leave; surely the mother would show up at some point, climb up, free the cub and leave. And yet, Aerexa had a feeling Lutana wasn't about to go so easily and she honestly didn't want to either. The poor thing sounded utterly pathetic.
"Just be quick about it." Aerexa interlaced her fingers and bent at the knee, prepping to help hoist the hybrid into the tree. "Watch out for it's fangs; even the little ones can leave a nasty bite." It may not normally be aggressive, but anyone can lash out when scared and in pain. The Vandrea looked over her shoulder once more, trying her best to keep an eye and ear out for any changes in their situation. Unfortunately it was harder to hear things with the little Dage whimpering and going on as it was.

A genuine smile of appreciation crossed Lutana's lips at the support. "Understood." Though a scar could be an interesting story? She glanced down at her arm before shaking her head, the hybrid untying the string of her skirts so that she could climb better. At least her top was long enough and she had some undergarments on, and it was far better than trying to climb in a layered skirt.
"Alright, here I go." Lutana took the offer, reaching up so that her hands closed around the branches and then the hybrid pulled herself up into a better position to see what was going on. "It's alright little one." Lutana whispered, the dage growling now that a stranger was present before whimpering pathetically when it tugged at its stuck paw. She moved forward, pulling the limb slightly before giving the dage a moment to calm down, Lutana repeating the process until she finally got the limb to move enough for the paw to pop free. "Incoming!" She called out in a loud whisper, trying not to completely yell for startling the little creature that now seemed determined to scurry down the tree as quickly as possible.

She hadn't expected the hybrid to shuck out of her clothes just to climb, but getting rid of all that fabric would make it easier. Not that Aerexa much minded either way. The Vandrea braced herself, then tried to keep her gaze at respectable areas as she hoisted the other woman up into the tree.
When her arms were free she stepped back to have a look around. It was easier to tell now that something was coming toward them, but it was still a ways away. Dage were horribly fast, not from what she remembered anyway, so as long as Lutana didn't dally they'd be fine. At least that's what she kept telling herself. "Somethings moving from the West. Could be the mother, but even if it's not it's big."
Admittedly, she probably should have been paying attention to what was happening in the tree as well, because when Aerexa turned back the little dage had nearly climbed down to her face. Instinct nearly made her scream, but the Vandrea was quick to clap a hand down over her mouth and instead used the other to wave towards the dage. It had hesitated upon seeing her, maybe out of fear, maybe because it was tempting to climb back up, but the waving had spooked it just enough to keep it moving until it reached the ground.
"Okay, come on, we gotta go."

Lutana bit her bottom lip to keep the soft laugh from escaping. She had noticed the little surprise of the dage, the Vandrea's reaction not escaping her notice as she sat on the limb for a moment. She had been afraid that climbing down quickly would have scared the little cub back up into the tree instead of escaping to its freedom. And so there she sat, her legs swinging lightly until Aerexa directed her to climb down.
"Alright." Lutana managed to slide down the tree, only faltering for a moment as she landed and got her bearings again. "There it goes." She watched as the cub disappeared into the bushes, the hybrid letting out a soft sigh. "Do you think the mother would still chase us if the cub returns? Still, I suppose it is best to be safe." She did offer Aerexa a small smile as she gathered her skirts, Lutana quickly tugging them back up and tying the belt back around her waist. "Thank you though, I appreciate you helping." As much as she enjoyed some of the darker mysteries of the world there was something wrong about leaving an innocent there like that. Maybe it was simply fate they had wandered into the cub and Lutana was happy that they managed to help.
"Maybe we can grab some of those berries now in peace and I can get you that cup of tea, I promise there's no mother dages in the city." At least not that she knew about and definitely nothing wild to chase them through the city streets.

"I'd rather not risk it." If she were alone? Probably. But she wasn't and after watching Lioe nearly succumb to every wound imaginable simply by tripping she wasn't about to chance it. Still, she stayed on watch while Lutana gathered herself, one hand on a sword at her side just in case. It was only when the hybrid was thanking her did she relax and offer a smile.
"You say that, but have you seen those steam engines? I've been told they're perfectly safe, and I just know they're lying." Maybe a cup of tea would be what she needed before going home and facing her mother. Something to calm the nerves, and a person to talk to that wasn't directly involved in the lot.
