Rista 8
By the end of the day it was official, the new furry lawn ornaments were now theirs. Umen went out and fitted collars to them and fed them a rich meal, meant to entice them to continue to stay and then put the three in the most bomb proof pen they had to encourage their new home range formation in a healthy way that would get neither them or the grumbling unhappy janarim in trouble. This way the family could get used to their new memebers without unessessary drama.
This made her feel better and she visited the radaku at least twice a day to give them treats and talk soothingly to them. Soon enough they would fit right in. She knew they would. They had recognized something in them that had made them choose new owners on the spot. They had even been somewhat polite in their approach and ask later..for a pack of misfits. They had training but it was not as of yet extensive.

Umen 9
They reworked the nursery and had everything set up by the time Rista went into labor. This time she insisted upon a home birth with only him there to help. If there was an emergency there was a proper midwife not far away but she knew what she was doing.
He was so very proud of her and he didn't blame her for her request. Privacy was a good thing at this point even if she wouldn't care a bit further down the line. It was the nesting instinct and he never saw a reason to fight that.
Mother's just knew best and she obviously felt very good or she would have requested a healers presence or at least a midwife barring that but it was more comfortable for them both. He would be with her every step of the way. He rubbed her back and supported her, fed her ice when needed and let his hand bones meet each other in unnatural ways in her birth grip...ow.

Rista 9
Low and behold two babies were born and the parents were wrapped up in the joy of being together together for the first time. All was now quiet in the house, except for the occassional happy sob. Birth was as ever an emotional time for all involved, most of all for her the mother. There was a lot that happened during pregnancy. Her body programmed to follow certain patterns. It left them all in the wonder of birth.
"I'm so grateful for them." She whispered into Umen's chest where she had tucked her face while they each held a beautiful baby.
She couldn't even get a good look at their little faces because she was still crying for joy that all had gone well and that the twins were here now. Bliss. Pure and utter bliss. She wondered if Umen fared any better than she...he was after all the Father.

Umen 10
Nope! He wasn't seeing them any clearer than she. No matter how many times they went through it, there was nothing more earth shattering than holding a child that you helped make. A warm little promise for life in continuum down through the ages to an unknown horizon. Stamped of course with the make and mark of you and your partner. He shook his head to no effect. There was just nothing else like it.
With the arm not holding one of the twins, Umen rubbed her back and petted her hair, comforting her as he was comforting himself with her presence. "Ya did a fine job Lass. A fine job." He sniffled too. This was the closest he had been to birth. It was a raw and delightful experience..at least this part where you were holding your child was. He kissed her forehead fiercely. "Two strong babies, added to the clan, all hail the clan mother."

Rista 10 She snorted. "Way to make us sound like cave men ugh ugh." She smirked back at her mate, showing a bit of herself through the cloud of exhaustion. They didn't call it labor for nothing. She took a deep breath, snuggled her baby and closed her eyes for a moment. Just a moment. Rest.
It was indeed just a moment before she was jostled awake, Umen heard the rest of the family coming inside the house, and had called to them to wait for a bit more. She was good with that just a bit more time for them to bond all together like this, just how it should be with a new family. Love, together, family. That was all that ever really mattered at the end of the day.
She thanked all of the gods that they looked too that today had gone so well, that their family was more than it had been the day before and that everyone was okay.
